I came here last night for dinner w/ the family and it was prefect for such a cold night. I ordered the curry fish ball soup and it was delicious. Even at mild, it still had a spicy kick to it (I am not the one to eat much spice). The curry soup was very flavorful, with a combination of fish ball halves, thin slices of pork, cabbage and mushrooms. This dish came with a raw egg already cracked in this soup (by the way, this place does not bring out raw meat to your table like a regular hot pot place because there is some kind of regulation posted near the door that they are not allowed to serve raw meat. I think this is fine since the tables are a bit too small for everyone to have a plate of raw food they can cook themselves. Also this probably helps to keep the food served quicker and get people in and out of this place).
There are 7 different types of hot pot you can choose from (big photos on the wall) and you can chose to have noodles or rice with it. The level of spice range from mild, medium and hot. (If you pick mild like me, you can just add spice to it because there is a little area next to the kitchen you get oil, garlic sauce and chili sauce you can add to your hot pot). You also get hot tea or ice tea included in your entree (only $9.95, can you believe how cheap that is for a Sunday night dinner?) And if you actually have room left for dessert, you can order a snowy icy dessert (mango, blueberry, taro, etc) for $5.95. But we did not try a dessert because we were full.
The service was really quick and very good for a Chinese place. Lucky for us, we only wait 15 minutes and got seated (total of 4 people). We arrived around 5:40 pm last night and signed out name on the clipboard that is sitting out on a table. Oh and just as a heads up, if you are a party of 2 or 1, they will not seat you at a table that seats 4 and so you will have to wait for a smaller table (we were able to get served before this 1 couple because of it.... makes sense to me that you should give the table to a large party). The servers speak mostly Mandarin and very little English, but you can still get served if you didn't speak English (My mom, who ate w/ me, speaks Mandarin and she ordered for us, but when I asked for water and to extinguish the fire for my hot pot, I spoke in English and the servers did it for me just fine).
The decor of the restaurant is nice and very modern. The tables are kind of small, but enough room for each person. The restaurant itself is fairly small, so that would make sense why there would be a wait for dinner (but service is quick and so waiting isn't too bad.. a server first said it would probably be a 30 minute wait for us and there were 5 parties ahead of us).The restrooms are down a long hallway and are really clean (ladies).
This place is excellent and I want to try it for lunch next time and maybe try one of those snow ice desserts too. read more
