I've been hearing so much about Bohl and finally got the chance to visit today. There were some great things and not so good things. I know everyone likes to gripe about their hours. They have modified hours at the moment but that's only because they're in soft opening. Take it as you will or wait until their hours expand later on. I came today on a Sunday about 20 minutes after they opened and there was already a long line. Do people line up before they open? Based on that line I saw, probably. They have 4 kiosks as well and all were taken up. I'm normally a non kiosk person but I decided to chance it versus standing in a long line. At the moment, they have their rice bowls and their salad bowls. Maybe later on they will add more to their menu or add seasonal offerings. I don't eat rice but I wanted the toppings on their casa bohl nita. Thankfully, they have a build your own salad option. For my salad, I chose romaine lettuce, corn, black beans, pickled onions, steak, avocado, diced jalapeno, tomatoes, spicy broccoli and cucumber. For my sauce, I chose: spicy chipotle and green goddess. Also selected the pita chips with tzatziki sauce and the watermelon mint tea. My entire order was $27 approximately. After placing the order, which was easy by the way, I sat down to wait. First time there so I didn't know what to expect. There was no receipt that printed out nor did I receive a text for my order. Later, I downloaded the app and after entering my phone number, the app was able to locate my order. I had also signed up for rewards during my checkout process. Located my receipt through there. This might be an issue for anyone who doesn't like to download apps. If you're wondering how would I pickup my order or know which order is mine, the staff calls out your name. They then place your order in the pickup area with the receipt. My cup was also included. My bohl order was huge! It can be split between 2 people. My order came out as expected but it was missing cucumbers. Oh well. Also didn't expect the spicy broccoli to be chopped/diced. It's a great idea though! Convenient and easier to mix in your salad. Was my bohl spicy? It had a bit of a kick to it but not overwhelmingly spicy. Loved the pickled onions! I'll try it with a spring mix next time. Pretty sure if I had ordered as the regular casa bohl nita bowl, I wouldn't have been able to finish due to the amount of rice. But, it is great as dinner! Steak was marinated and cooked well. Good seasoning and meat was chewy. What was disappointing? The pita chips were a big disappointment for me. I read reviews and on social media, people were praising the pita chips. Unfortunately, they are way too greasy. In fact, it felt like they were grilled in a lot of oil because that's all I tasted. And yes, the tzatziki sauce was delicious however it was overpowered by the grease from the pita. There were only 3 slices of pita too. If the pita can be grilled in less oil or placed on paper towels for the excess grease to be soaked up, that would be better. I pressed my pita between a napkin and the amount of grease that came out was astonishing but not surprising. Please improve on this side appetizer. As mentioned earlier, the no receipt to verify my order and locating it through the app was kind of cumbersome. Would like for possibly an auto text next time of my receipt in case anything goes south. Also didn't like that my bowl was missing cucumbers but that's ok, next time I'll speak up if I notice a missing ingredient. I didn't notice until I was diving into my bowl and happily eating. Since I chose 2 sauces, it was a good amount and I didn't find my bowl drying as others have mentioned. Unsure: watermelon mint unsweetened tea. This was good and refreshing. Although, I think there is a bit of sweetener in it. Either, monk fruit or stevia. Subtle minty taste, barely any watermelon. Maybe the watermelon was for the color only. It's still good and I found myself sipping it often on the drive home. Overall, there are some small minor things to work on as Bohl continues to operate. Looking forward to expanded hours later on and more additions to their menu! Will be back! read more

I was so excited to try this place as I love salads and I'm always on the lookout for a really good salad. I stopped in on a Thursday early lunch. It wasn't busy at all. It Reminds me of a Chipotle. you can order from the kiosk, but since it was my first time I just got in line & there was no one in line. Staff were friendly. I chose the mixed greens with the Romaine as my base. I wanted a little rice but totally forgot to add it as staff didn't ask me and I was already moving onto protein, so I totally forgot. Also added corn & black beans. I opted for a little of the spicy chicken and tofu. for the toppings, I chose the beets, olives, roasted sweet potato, spicy broccoli & cucumber. For the dips, I chose the Tzatziki & Spicy cottage cheese. For the dressing, I chose jalapeno avocado & spicy chipotle. Ok so maybe I just mixed everything all wrong because when I finally tasted it, I don't know how to describe it but it was OK. I don't think I'll come back ever. I really wanted to like this place but I didn't really enjoy my salad. There was nothing on my salad that I truly thought was so amazing. The tofu was just ok. I really like beets, but I didn't think these beets tasted that good. I usually love corn and it's always sweet, but this was just corn that just didn't taste very good to me. There's plenty of seating inside and patio seating. I opted to sit outside since it was a nice day. Plenty of parking. read more

I felt like we waited forever for this place to open, but it is definitely worth the wait. Chipotle style bowls, but definitely a step up in quality and ingredients. Since it's still new, it was busy when we got there. I like that you could either order on the app, self serve kiosk or thru the service line. I felt like the line moved quickly. There are so many choices for toppings, dressings, etc. I loved my bohl, everything tasted soo yummy and fresh. The pita chips were a great addition to everything. I will be back. read more

The food was good, I'm not really here to complain about that. My husband got the Romaine Empire and he liked the combination this is what it comes with: Chopped romaine, Grilled chicken, Kalamata olives, Cucumber, Crumbled feta, Grape tomatoes, Tzatziki, Pickled onions, Green goddess. I got the Casa-Bohl-Nita which comes with: White rice, Grilled steak, Fire roasted corn, Grape tomatoes, Black beans, Pickled onions, Avocado, Diced jalapeño, Spicy chipotle. What i don't understand is I was charged for avocado even though my bowl comes with that on it. It was not a modification i just tried it the way it was since it was my first time. I went back to ask and they just said that it's an additional $2 even though it comes with it???? That didn't make sense someone who's reading this let me know if that makes sense. Lastly we got my daughter a kids meal, no complaints other than when they were putting it together they said pita comes with the kids order and if we wanted it and we agreed. Then yet again I asked why we were charged when we were told they were complimentary with the kids meal. The young ladies said they were free but that they're charging now. We were annoyed with the discrepancies. Heard about this place and decided to stop by to finally try it out since I was in the area. The place was in a plaza right off the freeway with other tempting food places around as well. Walking inside, there was plenty of seating and different ways to order. You can either order from their kiosks or at the counter. I ended up ordering through the kiosk. I ordered the Steak Me Outside rice bowl for my husband and I got myself a custom rice bowl with half steak and half tofu with different veggies and Japanese BBQ as my dressing. I also got a side of the sea salt pita chips. For 2 bowls, they came out to $17 each and my total was around $40. At first I thought the price was extreme but for the amount of food that they pack in the bowl, my husband and I felt the price was reasonable. Once I placed the order, I took a seat to wait and I swear my food came out so quick. I felt like I sat down and immediately stood right back up after hearing them call out my name that my order was ready LOL. My husband was able to finish his bowl and liked the portion of protein with the veggies. I also thought they gave a good amount of protein and veggies to make the bowl well-balanced in all aspects. My new go to spot! First visit this afternoon. Saw a long line, saw a sign to use kiosk to avoid the long line. Built our own bowls. Waited a few mins and got the food. The best bowl in a long time. Mouthful of flavor explosion. It was absolutely delish! Wanted to welcome and compliment the owners but the place was busy so didn't want to disturb them. Great Ambiance, plenty of indoor/outdoor seating. A great addition to EG community. My favorite aspect- Calories, carbs, protein and fiber listed for your specific order. Love the transparency! Reasonably priced, quality ingredients. We will be regulars there. Recommend! Some suggestions to the owner for cost effectiveness and for environmental sustainability- Kiosk should have option for dine-in and pick up instead of pick up only. I understand there are some growing pains as Bohl is a newer restaurant, however, this is my second time here and it was a bit disappointing. My first visit went well, no complaints, food was great. This time around, the order I placed was missing over half of the ingredients. Only 4/10 ingredients were actually in the order. There were some changes to the original bowl, but it wasn't anything crazy. All that we got in this bowl was rice, chicken, corn, and beans. Disappointed and hoping to see some change. Not sure if this is considered fast food, fast casual or what but I consider it fantastic. This is my new favorite lunch spot in Elk Grove. Tons of options for creating and building your bowl. I went with chicken, 1/2 rice and spring mix, crispy garbanzo, cherubs, carrots with hummus and tzatziki. So many ways to make it your own and the flavor is top notch. What is Bohl? In my honest opinion, I would describe Bohl as the flavorless offspring of IKEA and Chipotle. You only get 2 protien options Steak, Chicken or Tofu. When I asked what protein to get the younger gentleman replied with, "When the steak is good it's really good. With that being said I think it's a chicken day." I appreciated the honesty and went that route. Nothing was seasoned all that well and the overall experience was bland. Shout out for having Coke products at least and not some hippy off brand. Since it was our first time, we chose to go through the line just so see every items they have to offer. However, I would order online or through their kiosk next time. Service was very friendly, but a little slow., which will improve overtime as they just opened. The portions for each item was so little, but I now know that most items you can get double serving for no extra charge. I got a bowl with double steak , and the double steak portion is pretty hefty compared to chipotle, which we liked. We made a mistake with our sauce and getting pickled onions because it made the bowl too sour. Overall the bowl was good, but not amazing. It could be because the combo of what I put into the bowl. First, the staff is incredibly kind. I've never had a bad experience before. The bowl itself is beautiful. You can create your own or choose from the menu. Now why 4 stars? I only get chicken when I go since I choose not to have red meat. The chicken really isn't good, like at all. Now this is just my opinion. Others may love the chicken, but when I get the chicken the flavor isn't good. The spices used don't go well together. Also, sometimes the chicken seems overcooked. I decided to try Bohl for the first time today for lunch, and in short, I was left disappointed :( Some context on me - I used to be a regular chipotle customer and ended my patronage about a year ago (due to price increases, servings size inconsistencies, issues with incomplete online orders, and an overall disdain for mega-corporations). So when I saw we had a new fast casual "build-your-own-bowl" style restaurant I was intrigued. I think understanding this will help with my perspective. I ordered ahead for pickup through their app, where I should have known better. I have always given grace around mistakes when it comes to online orders, as there is always a risk of an incomplete order, but I figured that this should not be something I need to worry about this time. I built my own bowl and upgraded to the full serving of steak and chicken protein so I could try both offerings. I do appreciate how transparent they are about the macro content of each menu item. It's a very effective way to elevate the customer experience for those who are interested in tracking macros, such as myself. Unfortunately, my order ended up missing the steak protein entirely. What a bummer, since it costs an additional $4 pre tax!!! The food itself was ok flavor wise, using fresh ingredients. The chicken wasn't all that flavorful, just ok at best. I felt the same about the sauces, decent, but nothing had a wow factor for me. Shoutout to my siracha bottle at home, it saved this meal. I have not been to Sweet green, but this is probably the closest thing to it in EG. Dare I say a replica?? TLDR; Avoid online orders if you want to ensure your bowl is properly prepared. Food quality is good, but flavor is lacking (spices are a real thing guys). This style of bowl is pretty easily replicable at home and with much better flavor. we walked in on a weekend afternoon and it was decently busy, so we decided to order through the kiosk instead. it took about 20 minutes for us to get our food, the worker handing out the pick-up orders was bright and friendly, and the bowls were hefty and filled to the lid. unfortunately, i felt that the flavors fell short. the steak was good, juicy and flavorful, but overall the bowl was flat in taste. the "fire roasted corn" had no charred flavor, the natural flavor of the corn was also nonexistent, not even sweet. the "spicy broccoli" looked like there were no spices, it tasted like it, and the florets were disintegrating. i wish the pickled onions were sliced thinner and the tzatziki sauce threw me off, definitely wasn't what i was used to. also, the bowl was hard to mix so it was dry because i couldn't incorporate the tzatziki sauce well. i feel like it could've also used more rice. the sea salt pita chips were unfortunately the highlight of my meal, but those were also a bit oily. i was really excited to try this place in hopes it would be a cava dupe but maybe my expectations were a bit too high. however, i think i would be willing to give this spot another chance, maybe i'll try one of their premade bowls next time. read more

Place was fire! I liked all the different options they had. I got the steak and also tried the chicken both were really good. I also tried the tofu. I'm not really a tofu person, but it was actually good, and the person who ordered it thought it was great too. It was cool being able to make my own creation, and the cottage cheese dip was amazing. The portions were solid. My girlfriend, her daughter, and my son didn't finish their bowls, which surprised me because my son usually eats like a human garbage disposal. Overall it was really good and reasonably priced. The only confusing part was the cashier asked if we wanted pita bread and/or sourdough it sounded like it came with the bowl, but after looking at the menu I realized it was actually an extra charge. read more

The food here is very good, consistent, and never disappoints. It's a great quick healthy option that fulfills every food group you need. The food alone is definitely 5/5. My 1 star loss comes from charging for smaller items. I didn't get any sauces but was charged $1.50 for hot sauce, pita chips used to be included in kids meals but no longer is, and you can not get a side of protein. I was told id be charged the full $13 for a side of chicken that would be the same portion size as if I were to get an actual bowl. Small detail things that could be changed but seems like they're being a bit stingy about costs. Nonetheless, this is a place I'll still frequently go to. read more

This place opened just in time at the start of my cut. We got lucky and made it during the 2nd day of opening with limited hours for lunch. The place was a vibe! Great service, friendly staff and awesome artwork. AND A HUGE SHOUTOUT FOR ADDING MACROS TO YOUR WEBSITE! It made prepping my order so much easier before we came. Both bowls that my fiancé and I had gotten were really tasty. Veggies were fresh. The cubes of steak had a really good, smoky flavor to it and the portion sizes were perfect. Amazing place to go when you're cutting! The protein portions are very large if requested. Plenty of vegetables and sauces to add. They have 4 kiosk tablets to order aside from the counter. They also have the option to make your own bowl at a reasonable price. The place itself has a variety of inside and outside seating. I don't know who had the aux, but the music was enjoyable because it played tunes that weren't radio station popular. They have clean restrooms and their staff are very nice and quick with your order. Definitely coming again after a run! read more

Finally got a chance to try out this spot today, and mid day it was pretty busy. There are kiosks to the left where you can order if you want to skip the line and they'll call your name when your order is ready. Price is about what you'd expect for a rice bowl these days but the portions are generous for sure. I ordered double steak thinking they'd be stingy like chipotle but my bowl was packed with it. Flavor was great and the steak had perfect seasoning on it. Staff was extremely friendly as well. This spot will probably be my go to when I need a rice bowl with some good protein and veggies. read more
