We ordered mixed sashimi (2 for $28) Tempura shrimp (12 for $15) Tempura shrimp roll (2 rolls for $20) Sacramento roll - not on the BOGO but tasty! (Comes with soft shell crab inside) The sashimi was fresh and large in size - family was very happy Tempura was good and what you would expect from tempura shrimp. Came with a sweet dipping sauce. The order came with soy sauce, chopsticks and wasabi and ginger. Packed well and everything was very neat in the packaging. Will definitely be ordering from this place again. The rolls here is good so far I had the fatty toro roll , Hokkaido roll and the jackpot roll. My boyfriend usually likes to get the volcano roll. Today the roll was falling apart for his volcano roll. I ordered the Hokkaido roll and it came out before his I asked for ponzu sauce . I waited for ten minutes and had to ask again. When my roll came out my boyfriend asked for water. I had to ask for a few times. Even when his roll came out they didn't refill our water. We had to wait 20 minutes for the water and I asked about 4 times. I understand it's busy but it's hard to eat a roll when it's fried and you're thirsty. They sat us at a table with a shelf that had flowers with pollen. My nose was runny and I kept sneezing . The shelf was filled with spider webs and I have a fear of spider. I also went there on Saturday it was also busy. When I got my miso soup there was tofu on the outside of the bowl stuck on the side. At least wipe It off before you serve it . Don't get the chimchurri steak . The sauce taste weird . We ordered the beef oyakudon before and it was disgusting it was thick cuts of beef instead of thinly sliced beef . My favorite entree to get here is the bento box with teriyaki chicken and sesame chicken. I came here tonight and a few tables did not get their food they were complaining that they have been waiting for their food . I wish they would bring it out at the same time instead of one person waiting for 15 minutes for their food to come out . Overall some of the food is good and some are gross. We celebrated my daughter's birthday at Ebisu, and enjoyed a bento box and a roll. Starting off with the miso soup really hit the spot for me. My bento box choices was teriyaki chicken and mixed tempura. I love the lightness of the batter on the tempura so the shrimp and vegetables really stand out, and the teriyaki chicken was really moist with the perfect amount of sauce. My daughter really enjoyed the mochi ice cream birthday surprise, and the service is excellent. She's always so friendly, personable and efficient. Came here on a Saturday night expecting a crowd, but surprisingly it was pretty calm and we were seated right away. The space itself is huge, super clean, and has a relaxed vibe that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy your meal. Service was also a highlight, everyone was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the night. We went all in on the menu and ordered the fresh oysters (half with uni, half regular), double toro roll, Ebisu roll, tonkatsu ramen, and the sushi taco. Honestly... everything was sooo good. Came in on a Friday night and it was pretty busy but we got sat right away without a wait. Ordered the teriyaki and sesame chicken entrees. They brought out my fiancés food first, and mine finally like 15 mins later. They must've forgotten about mine because by the time mine came out, the chicken was piping hot but the veggies on the plate were already cold. Not even room temperature, but just cold. Came by on a Friday night around 6pm and we were seated quickly as a party of two. Seemed they had a larger birthday party in a private room but this did not slow down service. We ordered the Sacramento, caterpillar, spider and lobster rolls, which are all cooked rolls. We also got the gesso and soft shell crab as appetizers. We got the omakase board for 2, the server recommended since they just came out with the special menu! The value of this board is amazing! We got so much food for $90! We couldn't finish the rolls and had to pack it. The fish quality was very fresh and everything tasted delicious. The most recent time I went, the quality was not there. Overall not a big fan of their sushi rolls. A lot of them had this white sauce on top which I found very sour and not very fitting for sushi in general. So that was disappointing. The rolls without the white sauce were great, and they used the typical unagi sweet sauce and spicy mayo. Lots of imitation crab and cucumber in their rolls. Ebisu is a local sushi spot in Elk Grove. We've been coming here for a few years and have always had a great food experience. We usually get to-go because we live so close by and love enjoying our food at home. Their roll options are unique and the flavor combinations are wonderful. They are always pleasant when taking phone orders, and the ready time is quite quick. They are organized and friendly when coming in for pickup. If dining in, expect a more quiet and calm environment. There is no loud music or sports playing on tv. But that's ok, because the food is just that good. Definitely recommend. read more

My husband and I went on a little date night the other day. We came to probably our newest and best sushi spot we've had in a while! Everything was so fresh and came out quickly. We were seated quickly, (arrived around 4pm), we were given water and asked about appetizers. We ordered Pepper fin, 2 oyster shooters, 2 orders of salmon nigiri (amazing!!!) and miso soup. Decided to finally check this place out because of the entree coupon. Inside was bigger than i expected but only a couple tables. When we first walked in a noticed some off smell, maybe something with sewer or bathroom but idk didnt smell great. We got seated and ordered two bentos, one with teriyaki chicken and teriyaki beef, other with teriyaki beef and chicken katsu. One came out like maybe 10 mins the other maybe like 15 mins. The food was mid, nothing special. Beef was chewy had alot of tendons or wtv that were hard to eat, katsu not bad a bit dry, chicken teriyaki was like quite dry and hard(?) or like overcooked kinda texture. Since we had the coupon it was fine but for 18$ i would not be content. Regarding the ambiance, it's got hints of Japanese decor here and there but was more of a cafeteria style dining area. There's a large room with lots of tables and seating arrangements. I have to say they have the freshest tasting fish in Elk Grove. The service is attentive without being smothering. I should have listened to my gut--within hours of eating, I was hit with full-blown food poisoning and spent the entire night feeling miserable, up and sick, regretting every bite. "Cheap" rolls are clearly not worth risking your stomach. This place sacrifices quality for gimmicky promotions, and now I've paid the price. Save yourself the misery and avoid it. Edit: I find this response extremely disappointing. Rather than addressing the very real issue of food safety, the owner is essentially implying that I'm lying. I am not. I absolutely did place an order and became violently ill afterward, and I have already uploaded proof of my order. Being told "we can't find your order" does not negate my experience, nor does it change the fact that I was up all night sick after eating your food. Dismissing a customer's illness instead of taking accountability is exactly why people should be cautious. While we were looking at the menu, we learned that they offer a pre fixe menu for $95pp - I'll definitely be trying that next time. For our dinner, we each got to select two items for the bento box. I received a bowl of miso soup first. That was standard. Overall, I was pretty impressed by The taste of the food as the beef teriyaki was quite tender/smoky and the sesame chicken had a great batter to chicken ratio. I should note that their teriyaki sauce is quite sweet, so I advise that you should ask for it on the side if you don't like your food that sweet. It came with plenty of white rice to eat with it too. The entree also came with a salad with some light dressing which was and fresh. No wilted leaves here! I also ordered a tiger sushi roll to share. It had a lot of the ingredients that I like and was really tasty. The size of the roll was pretty decent as well. The food overall was good but the prices without the coupons are a bit steep for what you receive. Offerings: - Miso soup: very solid, not too salty as many places are doing. - Hokkaido roll: a good sushi roll with good toppings. This was made well and what you expect for mid-tier sushi. - Jackpot Roll: My partner's pick, covered in crunchy tempura flakes. A good roll but with more mild flavors. - Katsu curry plate: this was good and exactly what was described. We expected more curry but it was more of a drizzle on top. The curry had no vegetables in it, just the sauce. There were a few blanched veggies served on the side. This meal could not have cost them more than $8 to produce, so good on them for selling it for $20. - Beef Udon: This was surprisingly good. Exceeded my expectations. The noodles were a great texture and the broth was very flavorful and complex without being overly salty. I also enjoyed the stir fried beef in the dish. I've visited a handful of times since my last review and wanted to follow up with more recent experiences. It seems that there have been some changes at Ebisu (change in management?). While the menu remains mostly the same with offerings, I did drop a star for my overall review, mostly for ambiance and service, a little bit for quality of the food. Most recently during our visit, the restaurant had an overwhelming smell of cleaning products, which was unpleasant. I asked the server if a restroom door was left open, and he went back to check and apologized that the janitorial closet was propped open. Despite closing it, the smell still lingered throughout the space. The sushi rolls have still been consistently tasty, which is what I tend to order anyway. However, the entree dishes seem to be on the drier side (katsus, chicken), and moreso relying on sauces for flavor. My mom introduced me to Ebisu and we enjoyed our dinner here. The salmon teriyaki was delish and the gyoza appetizer was good too. Love that you get a choice of having it deep-fried or pan-fried! I liked the steamed veggies, rice and miso soup that came with the salmon dinner plate, as well as the portion size of the salmon itself. Our server was great and everyone was super friendly.
