    Torch Roll
    Mariel I.

My husband and I walked in and immediately got seated. We ordered the Torch Roll, Elk Grove Roll, and the Lobster Roll. We love the Elk Grove Roll because the flavor combination and the albacore on the rolls is so worth it! It is definitely one of their expensive rolls but it's worth it cause it's like you're getting an appetizer and roll together. The Torch Roll was delicious as well! We will not get the Lobster Roll again, the flavor is lacking and honestly not worth ordering. Our order came pretty quick, and the server was great! They weren't busy but there were a few tables being used, it was pretty quiet in the restaurant. Great place if you want to catch up with someone or would like to eat somewhere that is low on noise.

Lunch box special with sashimi and BBQ salmon ~ $19.50

This was my first time trying Sushi Q and it was a great experience. The sushi was fresh and delicious and the customer service was excellent. We came on a Friday for lunch and there was no wait for a table. We ordered two of the lunch box specials and a plate of salmon truffle sashimi. The salmon truffle sashimi came out first and not only was the presentation beautiful, the fish was fresh and tasted delicious. The ponzu sauce was a bit tangy, but very enjoyable with the fish and cabbage mixture. The first lunchbox came with 5 pieces of chef's choice sashimi, which was salmon and tuna that day, and 3 pieces of BBQ salmon. The sashimi was good and fresh. I loved how tender the BBQ salmon was - seared on the outside but super soft on the inside. Also, the spicy mayo wasn't too spicy, which I liked. All of the other items in the box tasted great too - the salad - fresh and tasty, cucumbers, seaweed salad, and rice - I liked the sesame seeds they sprinkled on top. The second box came with chicken teriyaki and the Monterey Trail roll. I didn't get to try any of it, but heard it was pretty good. We had two servers that checked on us regularly and refilled water without having to ask. Both of them had a friendly demeanor and provided great customer service, which made dining there very enjoyable. The restaurant was clean and comfortable to dine in. Great local sushi spot on Elk Grove Florin.

When I first went to Sushi Q several years ago, I wasn't really impressed. I thought it was good but nothing to write home about. So, I didn't return until recently. Each subsequent visit I've had has just gotten better and better. I got the Big Papa which is a HEFTY roll and lives up to it's moniker. Their house special Sushi Q roll is a mouthful. The lemon slices gives the roll a nice clean finish. On my last visit, I was totally wowed by their sunomono and their version of the rainbow roll, Skittles roll. The quality and presentation of the dishes have surpassed most of the sushi places nearby. Even with their larger rolls, they're cut into bite sized pieces so you're able to taste and appreciate the quality ingredients. The service has always been top notch with the servers giving their suggestions when you ask their opinion. The place is small and cozy. Even when it's full, you can still have a conversation with your fellow diners. Make sure you leave room for dessert. If you just want a small dessert, their Gunther's brand ice cream hits the spot. If you're with a group and feeling adventurous, go for the deep fried cheesecake. You'll thank me later.

This place reminder me so much of my recent visit to Japan. Smaller space compare to some of the other local Japanese restaurant but offers a fresh selection and rolls. Consider yourself warned that the Bomb.com is like an explosion of heat in your mouth. My gfs told me not to even try it for I have a weak palate for spice but did I listen? NOPE and I paid for it. Lol The sashimi bowl is a MUST - FRESH FRESH FRESH and the presentation is so purty. Service was excellent with some engagement from the chefs behind the bar. Not much or oyster gal but my gfs love them so they had some and reported positive feedback so I will highly recommend them on their behalf. Easy parking. I can see this place getting packed on the weekends. Check em out!!!

Food was great and we came during happy hour so the prices for the rolls were SOOOOO good! Wait was so long for a Monday (30-40 min wait), but we had a good time at Sushi Q. Service was also wonderful!

Happy 10th anniversary! They are celebrating with $10 for some of their most popular rolls. It was a full house with a substantial waiting list but we were happy to get in after waiting for 20-30 mins. Food offerings: - Baby Calamari - Fried calamari was perfectly fried. The oil even tasted fresh and the batter was light. The green onions on top were sliced with care. - Sushi Q Roll - a really solid roll. Loved the crunchies on top and the tempura inside. - Kimmie Roll - the addition of bacon was fun and interesting. Fish and avocado quality here was really great! - Mina Roll - the furikake and teriyaki sauce really pack a flavor punch! Very bold and rich flavors. There are also a mess of onions on top "lomi style" which I believe are very thinly cut. Definitely got to be an onion lover for this one. - Aviana Roll - I love a crunch sprig of asparagus in a roll! This one tasted so fresh! The staff today was hustling! 3-4 servers and a lot of chefs! Everyone was polite but they were definitely busy for the anniversary. They also serve Gunther's ice cream here! The decor is modern from the geometric light fixture to the grey granite countertops. A few eclectic paintings, two of which with a Godzilla feature. So so sweet! As we left they gave us raffle tickets for $50 and $100 gift cards and a free tank top and stickers with their logo!

Food and service is always on point. I love how everything is fresh and always seasoned well. Our favorite dish is the grilled mackerel and mixed tempura. I can't name my favorite rolls because everything is just yummy.

I've tried so many sushi spots in the sacramento region, and sushi q is definitely in my top. Tbh, I love ayce sushi, but they can't compare to the quality of rolls here. In the sashimi platter, you'll get 25 pieces (5 variety of fish) that are chef choice. They're thick cuts, fresh, and delicious. We ordered a few other rolls, which were recommended by the staff and we love all of them! The sashimi blossom was a little spicy for me, but if you love spicy food, this is for you. I did enjoy the crunch! Love love this place!

Scallop Tataki. Plain. Not worth the price.
    Mai X.

Although pricey, Sushi Q does have good sushi. Out of all the rolls, I recommend the Torch, Avianna, Uncle J, and Sushi Q. The others that are under $17 are not worth the price for their simplicity. The time I dined in, I have no complaint on service. I also never had an issue with my takeout orders. The restaurant is kind of small so it wouldn't be the best for a large party.

Very yummy rolls. The sashimi bowl was very fresh and tasty. I loved the variety of octopus salad, seaweed salad, and jellyfish salad accompanying the fish.

An unreasonably long wait time. This was the longest amount of time I have ever had to wait for nigiri, not sushi, not entrées from the kitchen that need to be cooked. Just raw fish on rice and it took approximately 30 minutes, 27 to be exact. I tried to be understanding but I genuinely cannot comprehend why it took so long being that I was the only person sitting in the restaurant for the majority of that time. Only 2 other tables were wrapping up and closing out when I came in. 100% the chef's fault too, the front of house was doing the best they could but there definitely could've been better communication as well. I don't know if they were having an off day but half an hour for 9 pieces of fish for $43 is ridiculous. The quality of the fish was mediocre at that too. Take your money and time elsewhere, I won't be back.

Yelp Elite Review: A Taste of Home…read more I'm Puerto Rican and Italian, and I grew up with a Puerto Rican grandmother who owned three Puerto Rican restaurants called the Latin Barn back in the day. So when I tell you I know and LOVE Puerto Rican food, I'm not just talking--I've got childhood credentials! I came here with my oldest son and his wife for her birthday, and then something unexpected happened: I started crying. The flavors, aromas, and atmosphere brought a flood of childhood memories rushing back. Food can do that--and this place absolutely nailed it. I ordered the Puerto Rican Special with shredded pork, arroz con gandules, sweet plantains, and beans. AWESOME! I also tried the empanadas with both chicken and beef, and they were incredible. And portions? Let's just say they apparently believed we were feeding the entire extended family. We were given so much food that I had leftovers for the next day--which meant I got to have an encore performance! The Caribbean atmosphere combined with Ashland's unique vibe creates a warm, welcoming place where people actually seem to enjoy being there. The staff was friendly, helpful, and loved to laugh--which is definitely a Puerto Rican thing to do...right after making sure you have nice shoes. The dessert selection was fantastic, too. From the beef stew to the pork, the rice, the plantains, and everything in between, you are going to fall in love with this food. This is officially my new favorite place. And in the immortal words of General MacArthur: "I SHALL RETURN!" Do yourself a favor and put this place on your must-visit list. Come hungry, bring your appetite, and prepare to leave saying, "I'm Puerto Rican!" We had a large party and I think the service could have possibly been more attentive, but that's always a hit or miss for a large group. Our waiter was super kind and despite so many of us getting there at different times the spacing between entrees was excellent. I had a pina colada coquito fusion cocktail and it was delicious. My friend tried their take on the espresso martini and it was also balanced really nicely. Everyone enjoyed their drinks and it had a good selection! Honorable mention is the patio. I didn't even know they had a patio?? Such colorful outdoor decor paired with plants made me feel like I could spend hours with my friends here. I'd easily see myself going there alone for lunch someday just to relax outside, especially during the summer. Very decent amount of shade as well. Everyone really enjoyed their food and I got the paella again. This time it wasn't mushy rice and packed full of seafood, however the dish holding the food was very shallow and not an enormous portion. I'd think the portion would maybe be split between three people easily? But any large groups would need additional orders. The empanadas were tasty as well and I'm excited to try the different options next time I come. Worth checking out and an amazing food spot for summertime to enjoy outside. Also tip for parking - it isn't too bad if you just go a block further down Broadway heading east. You'll find street spots easily!

We loved everything we tried in the set. The flavors are incredible, and I've never eaten anything quite like it. The plants and cream colors will make the meal a vibe to taste. Close your eyes as the first course comes out and just go for a journey. Eat the paella and finish strong with churros. The server gave space but also appeared when we needed anything! Highly recommend and will be going back!

They're picky and know Spanish food from spending a lot of time in Spain. They also gave it a thumbs up. First off the place is beautifully designed, contemporary and tasteful. The simplicity and use of materials and furnishings are very appealing. The vibe is relaxed and the service. exceptional. The servers are both helpful and attentive. We came at Happy Hour for both drinks and tapas. Seated immediately we were brought water and menus. Two of the people in the group dislike sangria. After trying a sip of mine, they both ordered some. They were impressed. It's not the sickingly sweet sangria seemingly so prevelant. This is very tasty, high quality and smooth. This time I tried a Spicy Sangria and loved it. My other favorite is the Teleferic Sangria, a deep red drink, which I had as well. One of my dining mates also had a Spanish white wine, dry and crisp which is perfect for tapas. Another had a non-alcoholic Spanish beer. For tapas we had the Patatas Bravas (nicely roasted potatoe chunks) with the sauces on the side, Pollo Empanadas (beautifully presented on standing skewers w/a pleasantly spicy dipping sauce), Bruselas (roasted brussel sprouts topped with a light, fluffy cheese and lemon honey oil) and Gambas Al Aijillo (tasty prawns marinated in lemon and garlic). Everything was delicious and equally a standout. Everyone was pleased, impressed and very satisfied. Having a casual, very enjoyable time we ordered more- another order of the Bruselas, Pan Con Tomate (bread spread with a tomato paste and a flavored chorizo butter on the side) and the Chicken Kabab (delicious chicken skewers with a Sofrito Hummus on the side). Again, everything was fabulous! It was one of those wonderful memorable meals with friends that leave you feeling quite happy and satisfied. The true value of tapas small plates to be shared. They have a cute store off to the side with an incredible array of Spanish product. There's a separate entrance off the end of the building past the outdoor seating if you'd want to access directly. They even sell the sangria in bottles! There are some great gift ideas. It was such a splendid meal that I want to return again and again, and try more. Unfortunately there was also a down side, compelling me to remove a star. They give you the check in a delightful wooden signature box. We just flipped out a couple of credit cards. Getting home I discovered we were given the Happy Hour discount on the drinks but NONE of the Happy Hour items on that particular menu (Patatas Bravos, Bruselas (2) and the Chicken Kabob). All the food items were full price. PLUS $17. for Bombay gin we never had. That left a bad taste after what was a great meal. What even compounded it more was being charged full price for the Paella Mixta (discounted on the Happy Hour Menu) the last Happy Hour meal I had. I will bring it up, with the receipts, the next time I visit. However, lesson learned. Look over the check BEFORE you pay. Admittedly it left me a bit soured but I won't toss this place aside just yet. The food, drinks and atmosphere are just too good.

We arrived for dinner on a Saturday and were seated promptly but the restaurant filled up quickly. Service was great even with a full house and constant stream of delivery orders. We started with half dozen oysters which were at a very good price of $2 each topped with tobiko and light sauce. These were so sweet and fresh that we ordered another dozen at the end of our meal. (5/5) Paris Sashimi ($48) was fresh 16 pcs of chef's choice which were of very good quality and price (4/5) I did not like the negihama maki ($9) as it just tasted like scraps of hama with barely any negi. I wouldn't get this again (3/5) Toro Handroll ($12) was served tossed in spicy mayo which was not at all noted in the menu but it was still tasty. (4/5) Overall, this is a very solid sushi spot with good quality fish and fair prices. You can't go wrong with the rolls - one of the best California rolls I've had in a long time. We saw a lot of large families dining in which fills up the seats quickly so it's a well loved spot. I live 5 minutes away so I'll definitely be back!

We were quickly seated and drink order taken as soon as we sat down. The waitress was super attentive the whole time. We started with an oyster shooter that was spicy and then some Asahi beer that always hits the spot. I tried their spicy tuna hand roll and it was ok. I like it with more flavor and/or cream cheese. Next we had half dozen oysters with some lemon juice and wasabi they were small but fresh with lots of masago. I made my husband try a Sake bomb since he had never had one and it was hilarious. They have reasonable prices and a clean bathroom. We always had our water glass full and taken care of. Great choice, close to our home and great service.
