    Bond and Torch
    Jen-Ann L.

The only thing I would knock a star off for is the price the quality ratio. The quality here is very good, but compared to other spots in downtown or elsewhere, it doesn't justify the high price point of nearly $20 a roll. We ordered to-go because I was craving "good" sushi and it was super satisfying. The staff are attentive and polite and my order was available and provided to me quickly. The interior of the restaurant is very clean and bright. I like that vibe compared to dark and modern sushi places. The rolls were awesome! We ordered the Bond and the Torch - both were awesome! Very well constructed, good balance of flavors, not too saucy, and good amount of ingredients. The fish quality was not the best ever, but definitely on the higher end.

    Truffle Salmon Carpaccio

Came here on a Thursday night with about eight friends. Since we arrived around 7:30 PM, the restaurant wasn't too busy, and our group was already seated when we got there. Our server, Maybel, was incredibly attentive and friendly--we were sad to learn it was her last day. We ordered a variety of dishes (honestly, I can't remember half their names), so I'll comment on the ones I do remember! We asked for the chef's special and mentioned that we typically enjoy salmon and lemon in our sushi, and he definitely had fun with it. Just a heads up: chef specials run about $25 per roll, but in my opinion, they're worth it. We also ordered the salmon truffle carpaccio, which was fantastic. The salmon was fresh and buttery, and the sauce complemented it perfectly. As for the special rolls, one came wrapped in soy paper with microgreens, salmon, lemon, and roe. The other had salmon, guacamole, and lemon. Both were delicious and came with more pieces than a standard roll. I wish I knew their names, but since they were chef creations, they didn't have any. Everything tasted fresh and paired amazingly well with our lemon drop sake bombs. Overall, I'd highly recommend this spot to friends and family.

Amazing Lunch Box Special and great ambiance. Always a treat to enjoy a meal here. Highly recommend.

Sushi Q roll was ok, good rice texture, not mushy rice. Could use more seasoning though, a little plain. The 9 piece chef's choice nigiri was beautiful and delicious! Loved it! He really took his time in slicing each piece perfectly! Great job! Clean, cool spot, easy parking. Server was friendly and talkative as we chatted about their 2020 grand opening fiasco. Glad they made it through that challenging time for everybody and are still holding strong, 5 years later!

I enjoyed my experience here very much. Service was attentive and quick. The food was well presented, high quality, and delicious. This might be my new go-to sushi spot. Let me just point out how impressive the scallop presentation was! Not only were the scallops super soft and tasty but the whole presentation and acoutremonde that it came with really made it amazing. I ordered a couple of rolls too. They were good sized and well made. I ordered the sushiQ roll and the Calvin roll. Both were good but I think i preferred the Calvin roll. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely be back.

Lunch box (bento box) with chicken teriyaki and shrimp tempura

My first time visiting Sushi Q for lunch, and the food was very good, and authentic. I had the Lunch Box (bento box) with chicken teriyaki and shrimp tempura for my two choices. The chicken teriyaki was delicious, charged perfectly and the sauce was rich and the right thickness for the best flavor. The shrimp tempura was nice and crunchy and a good size. The salad was generous and very fresh, and a nice scoop of rice. The roll in the picture was shared from my friend's box and not a part of my order, but to try, and that was good too. It took quite awhile before we got our meals but that could be because we were one of the first to arrive when they opened at 11:30 and there were several tables waiting for their orders already. It was worth the wait. The lunch was about $18 before tax and tip, but compared to other places I've tried, this is the best so far. The service was great as well!

This review is long overdue. We've been going to Sushi Q for over three years, and without fail, every single time we try sushi somewhere else -- even out of state or out of the country -- we always end up saying the same thing: "It doesn't compare to Sushi Q." The quality of the fish is consistently outstanding. Fresh, clean, and expertly prepared every single visit. Once you've had sushi here, it honestly ruins most other sushi places for you -- in the best way possible. The service is always kind and welcoming. When they're busy (which they often are for good reason), we happily wait because it's 100% worth the time and patience. There's never a rush, and you can tell they genuinely care about their customers and their craft. We will always support this business. Selfishly, we like to keep Sushi Q to ourselves -- but the truth is, there are so many people who don't actually know what good sushi is until they try Sushi Q. If you're on the fence or wondering if it's worth it, it absolutely is. Once you go here, you'll be comparing every other sushi place to it -- and most won't measure up :)

Happened to be on this side of town for a training, so, I decided to stop in. I walked and was greeted and seated right away. I ordered Unagi Nigiri, Crabby and Dragon rolls. Everything came out fast, fresh and delicious. It satisfied my craving, thanks so much!

It was really hard finding a Sushi restaurant open during lunchtime. So glad Sushi Q serves lunch. I noticed Asians eating lunch and Asians behind the Sushi Bar. IYKYK. We ordered 3 rolls, spicy edamame and a side of Veggie tempura. The Elk Grove Roll was really good, very generous pieces of Albacore on top of the rolls. The Uncle J Roll was amazing, our favorite roll! The Calvine Roll was really good too. All rolls had a perfect amount of rice, not too much, which I prefer. The Veggie tempura was yummy and plentiful. The Spicy Edamame was also good. Can't wait to revisit and try different items on the menu.

Sushi here is always great quality, and they have lots of unique flavor combinations! My favorites are the "Sushi Q" and "Calvine". The restaurant itself is really clean and organized, although it can be a bit small when it does get busy. Service was fine, our server took a minute to get to us, but it seemed like he was the only one on the floor, so he was working hard attending to his tables. Overall, sushi q is definitely the go-to place for a more affordable but delicious spot!

    Salmon Truffle Sashimi

the interior of this restaurant is very nice; cozy with warm ambient lighting and lively music that is at an appropriate volume. we ordered quite a bit for our first time, we got the salmon truffle sashimi, the big papa, the bob marley, and the chicken teriyaki plate. the salmon truffle sashimi's plating was gorgeous, but it felt like the flavor was very heavy on the truffle. the salad they put on the plate is definitely required with each bite, it helps cut down the flavor of the sauce. the salmon itself was delicious, fresh, and buttery. the big papa was good, but it was on the sweeter side of a roll, it was filled with crab mix and the roll itself is sitting on a bed of crab mix, so it was a lot. the texture of the roll was nice, crunchy on the outside with the soft crab mix inside. the bob marley was subtle in flavor and clean, i wish i could taste the shrimp tempura more in the roll but the overall taste was good. the standout dish to me was definitely the chicken teriyaki plate. the salad it came with was delicious, just a spring mix with a sesame dressing but the dressing was addictive. the chicken itself had a deep smoky flavor, the char on it was amazing, it tasted like it was cooked on a charcoal grill. the service was also quite good, we got seated immediately and the waiters were very attentive and kind. overall i would come back but maybe for a special occasion as it's quite pricy.

We LOVE this place! Drive from Elk Grove all the time. Service is always great. Nice clean place with great music. The food is always fresh & hot. They have fountain drinks. Their miso salad dressing is so good & you can buy it in two different sizes.

Upon arriving, every table was filled both their indoor, outdoor and even bar top seating, taken! Then there was a handful of people plus others in line to put their name down on the waitlist. This only means one thing: the place is good. After waiting 40 mins we were seated. Jenny was our server, she was nice and attentive. Food came out within a reasonable time. The must try appetizer I would recommend is the peso tuna. The panko battered jalapeños were such a treat. For rolls, the Broadway was perfect (see pic). For drinks I ordered the Matcha-Tini. I appreciated the bitterness of this drink, the matcha was very present that it overpowered any alcohol presence, which made it very easy to drink LOL. Would I visit Tokyo Table again? Absolutely.

I have lived in the neighborhood for ten years now and have been to Banzai about a dozen times in that period. I am a disabled veteran, and after years of waiting, I finally got a VA-sponsored service dog 4.5 months ago to help me just function and navigate socially in life after having gone through some extremely traumatic events while serving and shedding blood for my country. My dog (an English cream golden) received five months of expert training followed by me undergoing five weeks of daily handler training with Northwest Battle Buddies (https://northwestbattlebuddies.org/) in Battleground, WA. We trained daily in stores, malls, restaurants, the light rail, and even through the TSA lines at PDX. I brought my dog home to Sacramento almost five months ago. He goes with me everywhere. I am with him at the Greenhaven Grocery Outlet or the croissant place next store nearly every day always walking by Banazai in the process. He is always vested, wearing his official Front Street shelter-issued Sacramento service-dog tag, and under leash control at my left side. He has never caused a disturbance or had any accidents. In restaurants, he just lays at my feet and goes to sleep. If you weren't looking, you wouldn't even know he was there. I've taken him to several dozen restaurants and never had an issue until Banzai staff confronted me last night. I did not expect that my local sushi place would look down on that, question whether my clearly identified service dog was a legitimate service dog, and violate ADA law repeatedly in the process. I get many people exploit the system claiming their pets or ESAs are service animals. Nobody hates that more than legitimate service dog handlers. But that does not give you the right to presume everybody is doing so and violate ADA law. When my wife, my service dog, and I arrived at Banzai yesterday evening one of your staff members asked to see some sort of certificate proving he is a service dog. Despite the fact that no such standardized certificate exists; you are not allowed to ask that question...nor is a service animal required to be vested or visually marked in any way as being a service dog. Still, mine always is. I showed you his vest and Sacramento city-issued service dog tag to you. That was still apparently not enough for you, as you made some snarky comment about how service dogs "usually are." You gave us a table but continued to comment that you were somehow justified in your grilling of even claiming what we need to read the fine print of the ADA laws. There is no "fine print" (you made that up). I tried to explain to you calmly and politely that your interpretation of the law was not based on reality. I was met with a "I'm sorry you feel that way" condescending platitude. I explained that this had nothing to do me feeling any sort of way, but rather, from the spoken words out of your mouth. By this point, I had no desire to be a continuing patron of Banzai Sushi and providing revenue to a place with such disrespect and unwarranted skepticism of disabled veterans and the service dogs which allow them to function in society. BTW, There are only two questions you can ask a person presenting what they claim is a service dog: 1) Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? 2) What work or task has the dog been trained to perform? That's it. No demanding of non-existent certificates or fabricating your own unlearned criteria of what a service dog is and does. Furthermore, there are only two instances where you can deny or revoke a service dogs presence in your establishment: * The dog is not housebroken. * The dog is out of control, and the person cannot get the dog under control. Neither of those was or has ever been a problem with my well-trained service dog. It would probably be good for your staff to familiarize themselves with the law without fabricating "fine print" clauses. Here is a good place to start: https://www.ada.gov/topics/service-animals/

We chose Koshi Eats completely on a whim, and wow, what a fantastic surprise! We arrived around 5:15 p.m. and were surprised to see only one other couple dining there. The restaurant was spotless, inviting, and had a calm atmosphere. As we looked through the menu, we were immediately impressed. It wasn't that the menu was huge, it was thoughtfully designed and made everything sound fresh, flavorful, and high quality. One thing that really stood out was the variety of noodle options. I loved being able to choose between thin straight noodles, thick wavy noodles, udon noodles, and spinach noodles. It's such a fun way to customize your meal and something I don't often see at ramen restaurants. The food absolutely exceeded our expectations. The presentation was beautiful, each bowl looked like it belonged in a food magazine, and we couldn't wait to dig in after taking numerous photos! The first bite had us looking at each other in disbelief. Every dish was bursting with flavor. The broth was rich, complex, and absolutely delicious. It was one of those meals where everyone at the table keeps commenting on how good the food is between bites. I ordered the Hellfire Ramen with tofu, my daughter had the Garlic Punch Ramen, and my mom ordered the Japanese-style dry bowl (similar to bibimbap). Every dish was outstanding. I honestly think I was making happy noises with every bite because everything tasted so good. The noodles were cooked to perfection, the flavors were incredible, and every component of the meal felt thoughtfully prepared. My daughter loved hers, my mom loved hers, and we spent the entire meal talking about how YUMMY everything was. What surprised me most was discovering afterward that some of the online reviews are relatively low. Had I read them beforehand, I might have chosen somewhere else, and that would have been a huge mistake. Our experience was exceptional from start to finish. The only downside is that it's quite a drive from home, but it was absolutely worth it. Koshi Eats is one of those rare places you stumble upon unexpectedly and then can't stop thinking about afterward. We left already talking about when we could come back. If you're anywhere near this restaurant, do yourself a favor and give it a try. We certainly will be back.

The ramen broth was not super hot like how I enjoy my soup plus the toppings were cold (no bueno) but my wife enjoyed hers tremendously. Unfortunately she can't eat this all the time bc she has to watch what she eats. It did satisfy her craving for ramen however. She had the spinach noodles original tonkatsu style ramen which I had the same except I had the larger flat noodle instead. You have a choice of 4 different noodles. The pork, egg & toppings were satisfying for her. Thank goodness. But I'm super picky about my soup & ramen!!! It is an order at the front & pay up front counter style of restaurant. Then seat yourselves anywhere in the restaurant. The mural on the wall was an awesome piece of artwork which they did an amazing job of it so it made the ambiance of the restaurant a little more appealing than super minimalistic bare casual. Too bad my wife can't eat this all the time. But we will come back another later time as it was just ok for me. I may have to specifically request for very hot soup & not cold toppings!!! lol not sure if they can do that...

No funky taste. 5) Mixed tempura, Miso soup, New York Steak teriyaki, Zig zag roll were all very good. 6) our waitress checked in on us and ensure we had water refill. I appreciate that. We all did. It was hot today. 7) bathroom was clean. 8) wall decors are cute. 9) there's music, but low enough that we could talk and hear each other, but loud enough that we can hear the music. I've been craving for the unagi since I left. I'm not even typically an unagi lover. Service was amazing, water refills constantly, patience when we were looking over the menus, and prompt clearing of the table for more dishes to come out. The decor is beautiful, love the photos on the wall. Booth seating was comfortable. Food was spectacular. It is my new favorite place for ramen. A5 Wagyu- 10/10 melted in my mouth and with the hit of wasabi elevated the flavors. Loved it. Didn't love the price. $34 for 2 servings. Chicken skin 8/10 could've been more crispy. Flavor was on point. Had a bit of a kick to it. Tan tan ramen 10/10 best tan tan I've had here. Flavored really good. Pork belly 9/10 love that it came with green onion. Just wish it was a bit on the crispier side. Flavored well. It melted in my mouth. Chicken gizzards-- bland. 1/10 Beef curry 8/10. Wish the beef was stewed or in cubes. Served with rice. Husband and I were not a fan of the sliced beef. Flavor was good. Potato and carrots cooked well. Not a fan of the sweet radish. Sunomono 8/10 jt was delicious and delivered the acidity needed to palette cleanse in between Soba noodles 9/10.
