Amazing Lunch Box Special and great ambiance. Always a treat to enjoy a meal here. Highly recommend.

    Truffle Salmon Carpaccio

Came here on a Thursday night with about eight friends. Since we arrived around 7:30 PM, the restaurant wasn't too busy, and our group was already seated when we got there. Our server, Maybel, was incredibly attentive and friendly--we were sad to learn it was her last day. We ordered a variety of dishes (honestly, I can't remember half their names), so I'll comment on the ones I do remember! We asked for the chef's special and mentioned that we typically enjoy salmon and lemon in our sushi, and he definitely had fun with it. Just a heads up: chef specials run about $25 per roll, but in my opinion, they're worth it. We also ordered the salmon truffle carpaccio, which was fantastic. The salmon was fresh and buttery, and the sauce complemented it perfectly. As for the special rolls, one came wrapped in soy paper with microgreens, salmon, lemon, and roe. The other had salmon, guacamole, and lemon. Both were delicious and came with more pieces than a standard roll. I wish I knew their names, but since they were chef creations, they didn't have any. Everything tasted fresh and paired amazingly well with our lemon drop sake bombs. Overall, I'd highly recommend this spot to friends and family.

Sushi Q roll was ok, good rice texture, not mushy rice. Could use more seasoning though, a little plain. The 9 piece chef's choice nigiri was beautiful and delicious! Loved it! He really took his time in slicing each piece perfectly! Great job! Clean, cool spot, easy parking. Server was friendly and talkative as we chatted about their 2020 grand opening fiasco. Glad they made it through that challenging time for everybody and are still holding strong, 5 years later!

This review is long overdue. We've been going to Sushi Q for over three years, and without fail, every single time we try sushi somewhere else -- even out of state or out of the country -- we always end up saying the same thing: "It doesn't compare to Sushi Q." The quality of the fish is consistently outstanding. Fresh, clean, and expertly prepared every single visit. Once you've had sushi here, it honestly ruins most other sushi places for you -- in the best way possible. The service is always kind and welcoming. When they're busy (which they often are for good reason), we happily wait because it's 100% worth the time and patience. There's never a rush, and you can tell they genuinely care about their customers and their craft. We will always support this business. Selfishly, we like to keep Sushi Q to ourselves -- but the truth is, there are so many people who don't actually know what good sushi is until they try Sushi Q. If you're on the fence or wondering if it's worth it, it absolutely is. Once you go here, you'll be comparing every other sushi place to it -- and most won't measure up :)

I enjoyed my experience here very much. Service was attentive and quick. The food was well presented, high quality, and delicious. This might be my new go-to sushi spot. Let me just point out how impressive the scallop presentation was! Not only were the scallops super soft and tasty but the whole presentation and acoutremonde that it came with really made it amazing. I ordered a couple of rolls too. They were good sized and well made. I ordered the sushiQ roll and the Calvin roll. Both were good but I think i preferred the Calvin roll. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely be back.

Happened to be on this side of town for a training, so, I decided to stop in. I walked and was greeted and seated right away. I ordered Unagi Nigiri, Crabby and Dragon rolls. Everything came out fast, fresh and delicious. It satisfied my craving, thanks so much!

Lunch box (bento box) with chicken teriyaki and shrimp tempura
    Chris T.

My first time visiting Sushi Q for lunch, and the food was very good, and authentic. I had the Lunch Box (bento box) with chicken teriyaki and shrimp tempura for my two choices. The chicken teriyaki was delicious, charged perfectly and the sauce was rich and the right thickness for the best flavor. The shrimp tempura was nice and crunchy and a good size. The salad was generous and very fresh, and a nice scoop of rice. The roll in the picture was shared from my friend's box and not a part of my order, but to try, and that was good too. It took quite awhile before we got our meals but that could be because we were one of the first to arrive when they opened at 11:30 and there were several tables waiting for their orders already. It was worth the wait. The lunch was about $18 before tax and tip, but compared to other places I've tried, this is the best so far. The service was great as well!

It was really hard finding a Sushi restaurant open during lunchtime. So glad Sushi Q serves lunch. I noticed Asians eating lunch and Asians behind the Sushi Bar. IYKYK. We ordered 3 rolls, spicy edamame and a side of Veggie tempura. The Elk Grove Roll was really good, very generous pieces of Albacore on top of the rolls. The Uncle J Roll was amazing, our favorite roll! The Calvine Roll was really good too. All rolls had a perfect amount of rice, not too much, which I prefer. The Veggie tempura was yummy and plentiful. The Spicy Edamame was also good. Can't wait to revisit and try different items on the menu.

Sushi here is always great quality, and they have lots of unique flavor combinations! My favorites are the "Sushi Q" and "Calvine". The restaurant itself is really clean and organized, although it can be a bit small when it does get busy. Service was fine, our server took a minute to get to us, but it seemed like he was the only one on the floor, so he was working hard attending to his tables. Overall, sushi q is definitely the go-to place for a more affordable but delicious spot!

We LOVE this place! Drive from Elk Grove all the time. Service is always great. Nice clean place with great music. The food is always fresh & hot. They have fountain drinks. Their miso salad dressing is so good & you can buy it in two different sizes.

We usually hit this spot once a week. Food is always good and fresh. The modern sleek industrial decor and the gold accents are great. The staff are always friendly and inviting.

Top (chef's special hand roll - just regular tuna..) and bottom is spicy tuna
    Mikayla M.

Fresh fish, I would come back for nigiri or a sashimi plate or something but this place is pricey for sure. I was kind of bothered when I ordered a chef's special hand roll and they brought out regular tuna, because it just felt like I was overcharged for regular tuna with a special sauce when typically the chef's special would be a fish not on the regular menu.

Fast and friendly service Sushi portions were huge! Good quality for price. The lunch special is definitely worth it. $50 for two :) left full and with to-go boxes Thank you!

*** Vegetarian Review ***…read more Would I come back? Yes, friendly service. They can accommodate their broths for vegetarians. If you can handle it, always ask for a medium spice level. Tips for first-timers: 1) Plenty of free parking 2) They accept reservations The Food: Vegetable Tempura ($18.95, Grade A): I like how they cut the vegetables--not too chunky. There is nothing worse than a chunky carrot that isn't cooked to its core. The tempura batter doesn't pull off when you bite into it, and it isn't oily at all. Yasai Ramen ($17.95, Grade A): Asked for a water broth to make this safe and vegetarian-friendly. You would think it would be tasteless, but it was surprisingly packed with flavor. The medium spice level definitely helped, but even for people sensitive to heat, this would be a tasty dish. It says water-based, but it still has a deep, eye-appealing dark color. The noodles have a great bite. Not overly mushy. And they stay that way for the entire meal. Broccoli, zucchini, bean sprouts, wood ear mushrooms, and cabbage. The cubed tofu is fresh and wasn't spoiled which often happens with tofu in restaurants that a lot of people don't order daily. Jungle Roll ($14.95, Grade A): Avocado and cucumber, topped with a seaweed salad. Most Japanese restaurants fail to understand that vegetarians also want a fun roll! We asked if they could include a vegetable tempura inside the roll so there would be a good textural component, and added a drizzle of teriyaki and spicy mayo. Good news--they were able to do it, though having to check with the sushi bar is always an adventure ($1 extra for each request). Sidenote: Why do all Japanese restaurants need to ask the sushi bar? One-hundred percent of the time, we eagerly have to wait for the sushi police to give a rolling. The rolls are made fresh and many meat-based rolls include a tempura element rolled inside. I could understand if we're asking to deep fry the roll, but just adding a tempura and a drizzled sauce? Ok, hopping off my soapbox. Bottom Line We've been coming to this place on and off for over ten years. It's been at least 2 years since our last visit, and there are some noticeable changes. Portions are smaller; the ramen bowls used to be the size of a food challenge. The restaurant itself is looking older and not quite as cared for, but the flavors remain excellent and the friendly, attentive service is completely unchanged.

My friend watched the waitress stack the 5 trays and left to process payment. Waitress returned and told them she was missing one payment. The party insisted that they all paid. The manager came to the table and told them they had to pay before they leave. Again, the party insisted they all paid. One of the ladies asked,"Are you saying that we're lying? There's security cameras in this room. Go review the footage and you can see the proof that we all paid and the waitress took the trays." Apparently the security cameras weren't functioning as he wouldn't look at the footage. The manager wanted to charge the missing payment to the person who used a charge card for her payment and the group told him that was not acceptable. The dispute went on for 30 minutes and customers at a near by table kept turning around and looking at us. The manager stepped away again and returned shortly with the missing payment saying that he found it under the cash register! There was no true apology, no effort to compensate the group for the embarrassing behavior and accusations. Clearly it was the waitress' mistake and she didn't apologize to the group. This is unacceptable behavior from the manager. Knowing this happened yesterday, I will no longer dine at Akebono. Very poor customer service.

We've been lucky once and it was nice. Usually we park down a row. Their hours from 11:30am -8 pm. We usually get there at 11:30am to beat the crowd. Today we arrived around 1pm and we just hit the take out frenzy time. I can't believe how many take out orders they had. They just kept coming. Someone even ordered their hot food tray. The people kept streaming in to pick up their orders. Actual in restaurant guest were down to 3 tables. There had to be around 8 to go orders during the time we were there. It could be due to the storms that were on and off all day. I can't blame people for not wanting to come out. At one time it was pouring buckets. Not just a drizzle or hard rain it was coming down like a garden hose was turned on high. To our happy surprise you can get their lunch special Bento Boxes on the weekend. That was a surprise as most places don't offer their lunch specials on the weekends. The lunch specials are offered from 11:30am-3;30pm. The Bento Box is $15.50 (4-11-26) served with rice, salad and sunomono for dine in only. You can pick any two from a long list of options and unlike some places the Salmon isn't an up charge. I got the Chicken Teriyaki and miso asparagus. The asparagus is blanched and served with a miso based sauce. I find both very tasty. My girlfriend got the Chicken Teriyaki and Sesame Chicken. The Sesame Chicken is battered and fried and topped with the same teriyaki glaze that the chicken Teriyaki is topped with. I tried her Sesame Chicken and it was very good, but I prefer not eating fried foods. The other dish that I really like is the agedashi tofu. That's crispy battered tofu. So tasty. I went to Banzai Sushi last night and left before even being seated due to the unacceptable manner…read morein which I was harangued about whether my service dog is truly a service dog. I have lived in the neighborhood for ten years now and have been to Banzai about a dozen times in that period. I am a disabled veteran, and after years of waiting, I finally got a VA-sponsored service dog 4.5 months ago to help me just function and navigate socially in life after having gone through some extremely traumatic events while serving and shedding blood for my country. My dog (an English cream golden) received five months of expert training followed by me undergoing five weeks of daily handler training with Northwest Battle Buddies (https://northwestbattlebuddies.org/) in Battleground, WA. We trained daily in stores, malls, restaurants, the light rail, and even through the TSA lines at PDX. I brought my dog home to Sacramento almost five months ago. He goes with me everywhere. I am with him at the Greenhaven Grocery Outlet or the croissant place next store nearly every day always walking by Banazai in the process. He is always vested, wearing his official Front Street shelter-issued Sacramento service-dog tag, and under leash control at my left side. He has never caused a disturbance or had any accidents. In restaurants, he just lays at my feet and goes to sleep. If you weren't looking, you wouldn't even know he was there. I've taken him to several dozen restaurants and never had an issue until Banzai staff confronted me last night. I did not expect that my local sushi place would look down on that, question whether my clearly identified service dog was a legitimate service dog, and violate ADA law repeatedly in the process. I get many people exploit the system claiming their pets or ESAs are service animals. Nobody hates that more than legitimate service dog handlers. But that does not give you the right to presume everybody is doing so and violate ADA law. When my wife, my service dog, and I arrived at Banzai yesterday evening one of your staff members asked to see some sort of certificate proving he is a service dog. Despite the fact that no such standardized certificate exists; you are not allowed to ask that question...nor is a service animal required to be vested or visually marked in any way as being a service dog. Still, mine always is. I showed you his vest and Sacramento city-issued service dog tag to you. That was still apparently not enough for you, as you made some snarky comment about how service dogs "usually are." You gave us a table but continued to comment that you were somehow justified in your grilling of even claiming what we need to read the fine print of the ADA laws. There is no "fine print" (you made that up). I tried to explain to you calmly and politely that your interpretation of the law was not based on reality. I was met with a "I'm sorry you feel that way" condescending platitude. I explained that this had nothing to do me feeling any sort of way, but rather, from the spoken words out of your mouth. By this point, I had no desire to be a continuing patron of Banzai Sushi and providing revenue to a place with such disrespect and unwarranted skepticism of disabled veterans and the service dogs which allow them to function in society. BTW, There are only two questions you can ask a person presenting what they claim is a service dog: 1) Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? 2) What work or task has the dog been trained to perform? That's it. No demanding of non-existent certificates or fabricating your own unlearned criteria of what a service dog is and does. Furthermore, there are only two instances where you can deny or revoke a service dogs presence in your establishment: * The dog is not housebroken. * The dog is out of control, and the person cannot get the dog under control. Neither of those was or has ever been a problem with my well-trained service dog. It would probably be good for your staff to familiarize themselves with the law without fabricating "fine print" clauses. Here is a good place to start: https://www.ada.gov/topics/service-animals/

The ramen broth was not super hot like how I enjoy my soup plus the toppings were cold (no bueno) but my wife enjoyed hers tremendously. Unfortunately she can't eat this all the time bc she has to watch what she eats. It did satisfy her craving for ramen however. She had the spinach noodles original tonkatsu style ramen which I had the same except I had the larger flat noodle instead. You have a choice of 4 different noodles. The pork, egg & toppings were satisfying for her. Thank goodness. But I'm super picky about my soup & ramen!!! It is an order at the front & pay up front counter style of restaurant. Then seat yourselves anywhere in the restaurant. The mural on the wall was an awesome piece of artwork which they did an amazing job of it so it made the ambiance of the restaurant a little more appealing than super minimalistic bare casual. Too bad my wife can't eat this all the time. But we will come back another later time as it was just ok for me. I may have to specifically request for very hot soup & not cold toppings!!! lol not sure if they can do that...

It's a counter service style restaurant so you can take a look at the menu on the wall and order up front first. I really liked that you could pick your noodle type too (thin, thick, udon, or spinach) since that isn't offered everywhere. I loved the thin style in my Aka Ramen. I think the only thing was that it didn't have as much variety of toppings as I would've liked for a $17 bowl. Other than that, I enjoyed the broth and it wasn't too spicy. I also shared the kamikaze fries with my friend. It's a huge portion with delicious tender pork belly on top! That dish could be a meal in itself if you ate it by yourself. But it was nice to enjoy it more like an appetizer with someone else so you can still have your noodles too! Service was great, the cashier knew her stuff and was very efficient and fast almost like a robot! The place was pretty busy for a Wednesday night so I can see that it's pretty popular despite being in the middle of tons of other eateries. I'd definitely come back to try their brisket ramen, and I saw that they'll be offering mazemen soon too!

So earlier this year I got introduced to this place thru a Yelp Elite experience and needless to…read moresay that visit really blew me away. Since that visit I have returned three different times, always bringing someone different to show off this excellent restaurant find located near 73rd and Stockton Blvd Engawa Fusion is such a special place-this restaurant is over 30 minutes from my house in Natomas in traffic ,yet that never stops me from trekking my way across Sacramento-I love this place that much. On this particular visit we started with 2 different sushi tacos-We had the tuna version and the salmon version-each priced at $11.00. Now I could write a novel explaining the virtues of these culinary creations but I will keep it short-the tuna and the salmon tacos are such the perfect bite-well balanced-well seasoned-surprisingly heavy in the hand while being light to the taste-it's truly been my favorite new food item discovery of 2026. Next we went with the Stir-Fry Udon and this cost us $16.00. I've described this dish in the past as a dish I could eat every day of my life and would be a very happy person. The flavor and seasonings are flawless, the noodles are cooked perfectly, great chew-a very slurpable noodle for sure. I can easily see why this dish is such a popular item on their menu. This restaurant was given a spot on Yelps Top 100 Places to eat in 2025-nothing in this visit did a thing to show that honor wasn't well deserved. In closing-I don't know if I could recommend this spot any higher and I plan many future visits whenever I want to show people how amazing the culinary experience in Sacramento has truly become. 10/10 experience. PS-Parking could be a bit of a challenge as they share a lot with an auto shop but all of my visits I was able to secure a spot-I am sure you will as wel

We also got the tamagoyaki unagi don with a huge soft unagi piece. The grapefruit green tea was really refreshing for these warmer days. Came here previously for a Yelp event and came back to try other things on the menu and so glad I did. Definitely worth coming to since portions are pretty big with very fast and attentive service.
