We visited on 12/26. Since many restaurants were closed after Christmas, we really appreciated that this place was open as usual. Thank you! The food was well prepared and enjoyable overall. While nothing particularly stood out as especially memorable for us, it was a pleasant dining experience and a nice place to stop by during the holiday season‼

Been wanting to try this place for a while and it didn't disappoint! Asked the sushi chef Conner for some recommendations and he gave us some bangers! Loved the spicy Maria and the tan tan ramen. Fair warning, it's a solid medium spice, which was perfect for me but a little too spicy for my fiancé lol Food: 4.5 Service: 5 Ambiance: 4 Marcels foodie score: 4.5

10/5/25 My little man's wanted some sushi for his bday week so we ended up at Ju Hachi for dinner. We ordered almost everything but the kitchen sink to try and items a solid spot. Ambiance is ok, staff was friendly. Street parking available and wasn't difficult for us. Carpaccio was delish and table fave. Soft shell crab was a tad fishy scent :( Agadashi Tofu and spicy edamame were as expected. Rolls were good. We ordered suggested rolls from staff :)

I ordered take out for a late lunch. On this visit, I ordered Wagyu nigiri and Katsudon. It tasted moderately good, but not great. Both items lacked flavor/seasoning. I would appreciate more eggs in my katsudon. I may just order ramen from this establishment in the future.

The Capitol Roll has made its way to my top special rolls from restaurants. I tried Ju Hachi for the first time, on a whim after working an event across the street and ordered this right before they closed. I can't say too much about the service and ambiance of this place, because I quickly got this roll to-go, but this roll was phenomenal. Besides the Capitol Roll, I also got to try pieces of the salmon maki, and it was delicious. I'll definitely be back during the day and dine-in the next time I visit!

Just updating my review since being back and trying new items. So far, I have not had a bad roll yet! It's all been so tasty and filling. Their spicy edamame is so flavorful and delicious, perfect for sharing too. The staff are super nice and they get pretty busy especially late in the afternoon. It's such a cute spot to dine in late on a rainy afternoon like this past week, because it's warm and bright and lively inside the restaurant. Usually I sit outside, and sometimes this can delay service when they are busy, but I've never had a bad experience here. Definitely recommend coming here, it's also in an ideal location because there's so much around that you can check out as well, and lots of places to park on the streets.

This is still our go-to sushi spot. We ordered the veggie sushi, beef dish, and stuffed mushrooms. Everything is served exactly how we like it and it's so filling and delicious. The staff is very nice and came to check on us and provide refills on water. We've never had a bad meal here and I often leave the restaurant and think about the meal I had several days later. I love this place!

A bit disappointed with the sushi here. Don't get me wrong, the spot is cozy and the service very friendly, I just didn't particularly like the rolls we ordered. These were some of their "most popular" rolls also so that makes me feel like maybe I wouldn't like any of their rolls moving forward. We ordered the Orange roll and the Hot Mama roll. Due to just overall taste, what felt like spoiled or borderline spoiled avocado, I don't think we will be returning. That being said, the service is friendly and efficient and the space itself quite cute.

1st time trying Ju Hachi On New Years, and here's my Sacramento Downtown reality check. Ju Hachi is a spot where fresh shipments of fish come first, and you can Taste it immediately. Clean cuts, fresh, succulent and juicy - the Chefs choice sashimi of the day was ocean trout + hamachi + salmon. For the fitness folks that need high protein macro friendly eats, Ju Hachi is your spot. For service pacing, the holidays are times we're most businesses are understaffed and patience is truly needed with compassion to understand the service here stands out because they are focused on making sure we have a quality meal despite high volume customers in a small packed place. Ambiance, the aesthetics makes the place great for family , business meetings, or even bonding time for folks that want to escape work chaos. The music playing was the 90's and 2000s RNB so - best believe it was a vibe. Tip : sit at sushi bar if you can, order with intention, and build in a little grace and compassion because good food takes time, and so do the folks that make this place possible.

I'm picky about sushi restaurants because the freshness and quality of the fish can be such a hit or miss. This was a hit! The sushi rolls were generous, and yummy. They have an extensive menu that you can order from. The spicy edamame is great choice for sharing. The service was awesome. Very relaxed and chill environment. Would recommend!

We came to Ju Hachi to treat my mother-in-law to sushi! She was super in love with the rolls and selection here. When we walked in the staff all said hi and you could see the chefs behind the counter and in the kitchen. We were seated in a booth and the menu was in the QR code so we started scrolling and talking picks. We ordered so much... green tea and Asahi beer, miso soups, spicy edamame, yellow roll, caterpillar roll, ahi ahi roll, rainbow roll, and a couple others that I can't find anymore, but all were so good and true to the menu description. We had a mishap and were served a green roll instead of yellow roll, but they quickly resolved and didn't charge for the mistake. We really like it here, the staff, the food, and location is all around great! Thanks for making my mother-in-law's visit so nice!

Ju Hachi has a special place in my heart. My best friend, who now lives overseas, was the one who introduced me to this little gem, it was his go-to spot. Now, whenever I'm craving sushi, this is where I come. Parking can be a bit tricky during busy hours, so I usually just park at Ice Blocks and pay. It's a short walk, and I honestly don't mind it. One of the sushi chefs, Tsang, is always such a joy! Friendly, full of life, and genuinely wholesome. If you're lucky enough to sit at his counter, expect plenty of laughs and good vibes. The host/server was also incredibly sweet :). I came in on a Thursday, and it was peaceful at first, but it did get busier as time went on. I started with the lamb lollipop, A5 Wagyu Nigiri, Amaebi Nigiri, salmon sashimi, and pepper fin. I usually avoid ordering too many rolls since I tend to not finish them, so I stick to nigiri--and everything was amazing. I also got to try I believe it was fried salmon skin with a cilantro/fish sauce aioli? It looks like a chip! I should've ordered that too but I had to refrain. My sister tried the A5 Wagyu for the first time and looked at me wide-eyed, saying, "It melted like buttah." Lol. Needless to say, I ended up ordering a few more Nigiri's after that.

My wife and I were lucky to have a sushi artist make us his specialty rolls! It was his last day before starting a new career, so we took advantage of his skills! His imagination made flavors come together that our taste buds couldn't even comprehend. The complexity mixed with simplicity took the sushi game to a new level. The cozy interior made us feel that we're the only ones at the restaurant. Chef's choice for the rolls was a must have!

Not sure if they take reservations, but we arrived around 30 minutes after opening. A short wait for the table to be ready for the big group. Parked at DOCO East and was an easy walk. They don't validate parking though. To share we tried some of their crispy brussels sprouts (mint, cashew, chili caramel) and pickle plate (kimchi, veggies). This visit I got the Mushroom Paitan ramen which had: rich cashew cream, pork belly chashu, half ajitama, shimeji mushrooms, negi onions. The seasoned egg was good, though I wish you got more than just one half of it as default. The broth was rich and the pork was great. The noodles were thin but firm I also tried their Kodaiko Palmer drink (nonalcoholic), which had earl grey and another Japanese tea profile. The other special mocktail was a sparkling/spiced cranberry lemonade. If you're not into pork they have chicken ramens and soupless styles too. If you're not into noodles they also have salads, donburi rice bowls and sandos. It was a bit loud of an environment (music) to hear each other, but then again we were at a long table/large group. I don't know what kinds of ramen these people have had before, but the three we tried seemed more experimental than anything else. Also, we both threw up upon arrival at home. Maybe it was bad luck with what we ordered or something but not going to give it our usual 2nd chance because of the area. DOCO is getting ghetto fabulous. I got medium which was basically mild. The portion and price make this a great deal for a quick dinner in Midtown. I love the late hours and the speed of which our food came out. We ordered the geso (fried squid) and the veggie tempura. I do not recommend the tempura. The batter was thick like carnival onion rings. They need to use panko for breading.
