We had some gift cards from here an decided to go. No reservations but none needed. The place wasn't very full. They have three different doors but they want you to enter from the corner doors. There is signs on all the other doors. We were greeted by the staff and they said to just sit anywhere we wanted to. They did have QR code for the menu but my phone had a hard time getting it. The place was as I remembered it. It was clean and a good size. They had the sake out where you could see the bottles . Pick the kind you want. I got the Chirashi sushi and it was good. The fish was fresh and I enjoyed it. My wife got the Unagi Don and she liked it too. We got a roll also but I forgot what it was. It was nice to. We had a good time and the food was good to. No problems and the service was good. We will come again.
I absolutely love coming here for happy hour. It's usually not a lot of people in here surprisingly but I actually love that because it makes the meal more intimate. They have great deals on drinks. I love the lychee martini (only $6.75 during happy hour) and the deep dried mushrooms. The 22nd street roll is also fantastic. If you want a lowkey chill happy hour sushi spot , this is definitely the place!

Sushi was pretty good! My husband only said he wishes they had more crunch roll options. But besides that everything we had was tasty and we'd definitely come back here. Ambiance was great. Service was friendly. I can really recommend trying the honey roll (it's fried) and sooo good!
Love otoro! Used to come here all the time and grab drinks with friends. Glad to see this place is still going strong! The garlic salmon appetizer.. omg... I had no idea what I was missing! So good! If you're reading this please go try it, you won't regret it. The sunburnt roll was also my favorite. So much good food here. We came randomly on a Monday night because I was craving sushi and wanted to try somewhere new. We made it in time for their happy hour and got $3 nigiri's (per piece) to try plus a $9 dollar roll. We got two pieces of hamachi nigiri, one piece of escolar, a J street roll, and a sunburnt roll. It was all pretty good! The fish on the nigiri was huge and worth it! The J street roll was a steal, I loved the sauce on it. The sunburnt roll was torched and we ordered it from the regular menu. It was okay but nothing to write home about.
O-Toro has a great location in midtown. The restaurant is clean and spacious. We were a bit surprised at how few people were there on a Saturday night, but it worked out well for us since we were able to get seated right away. They have their menu on a QR code although we were offered physical menus which I appreciate. They have a good selection of cocktails, beer and wine in addition to sushi. We went with the hot sake but I'd be curious to try their cocktails sometime. We got a couple starters - gyoza and BBQ albacore. Both were tasty. For rolls we got the Godzilla and the One Punch. I would order the Godzilla again but maybe skip the One Punch. It was fine but not for me. My husband liked both rolls. The service was quick and friendly, and I think overall they're a decent sushi spot!

But they were very attentive to the table next to us, checking in on them several times. To be honest, the reason we come here is because they stay open late, and we don't have many other choices. Looking for Yakisoba, then you've found a gem! Made exactly the way I like. Sufficient noodles and veggies and not too saucy or dry. I will be getting more when back in Sac.
We looooove this place. Hands-down, they have the best fried rice in the city. We go there just to get different types of fried rice. It's always well seasoned and topped with green onion and sesame seeds. The service is also on point and we have never had a bad experience here or regretted coming in. I've been to O-Toro at least a half a dozen other times since my last update and something changed since the height of my stellar review 2 years ago. Like many other restaurants post pandemic, O-Toro has not kept up with their high quality and I have to adjust my stars appropriately to give them an average rating. I still appreciate the easy and relatively safe parking on the streets and surrounding area. I still like their late hours and it provides a place to eat for late night Sushi cravings. I still like their soft music in the background, clean restaurant, and friendliness. However, having eaten at many other Sushi restaurants, O-Toro seemed to have lost their freshness, amazing taste, and me wanting to go there - when I don't even live near the area. I don't feel as satisfied after eating there and often want dessert or something else to fulfill the complete meal. That shouldn't happen for the price they charge.
I like the sushi, it is delicious and you can see them making the sushi at the bar. Will be returning :) The service was good they got us everything we wanted and gave us their opinion when asked. The ambiance here is quiet with music, which I like.
Have been here a few times now and it is a really solid sushi spot! I've been here with friends and family and we've never had a problem find parking nearby or being seated quickly. The staff have been attentive and friendly. So far the food we've tried here has been delicious, from the edamame, rolls, hand rolls, and stuffed jalapeños. I would definitely recommend the spicy edamame and stuff jalapeños as appetizers and honestly any roll you pick will be tasty. Will be back! read more

We went to O-Toro for happy hour. It was quiet on a Tuesday afternoon which we expected. The price was really great and service was efficient and everyone was nice. The waitress was happy to answer our questions. I appreciated that there were 2 options for their happy hour special cocktails. We each got an appetizer and a roll. The calamari was nice and crispy but the sauce was way too salty. The gyoza were standard, ginger forward but good. The 22nd st roll was spicy but good flavors. The Fuji roll was good too, I really liked the seared salmon on top. The main issue we had with the sushi was how wet the sushi rice was. It unfortunately really affected my enjoyment of the rolls, hoping it was just a one-off. Overall the happy hour prices are really great so I'd be willing to go again and give the sushi a second chance but to be completely honest it was a bit of a lackluster experience. read more
Let me start by saying this review is based off a DoorDash delivery. Food arrived quickly, I appreciate they included utensils, soy sauce, wasabi and ginger. The Winter of Sac was my favorite and a tad spicy. The Godzilla had lots of tuna on top and was a bit messy but still super tasty. I did not like the tuna tataki at all. The tuna was good, not chewy at all but it lacked flavor. I would not get that again, I should have stuck with bbq albacore. With that being said, I did I enjoyed most of the items but I would NOT ever order from them on DoorDash again because they inflated their prices a lot. I know restaurants raise their prices a bit to cover the fees DoorDash charges them but this was almost double per item. I would for sure eat in at their restaurant though. read more

They must have just remodeled because the restaurant smelled like paint when you first walk in. The menu was hard to navigate as the WiFi was very poor in the restaurant and the menu kept crashing. It took us a long time to look for what we wanted to order. After about 15 minutes of struggling through the pages. We ended up ordering the basics. But Everything came out promptly. The nigiri was fresh, the Amaebi was sweet and delicious. The Ramen was good too. The shrimp tempura roll was average. The servers were very sweet and efficient. Would come again later to try other items. Hopefully the kinks for the portal to the menu is much better or offer paper menu. Overall it was a Good experience here. read more

Strolled in on a Friday night. Plenty of seating available, people started to come in about 8pm. Nice place, clean and decor was good. The staff was friendly and attentive. We had a few rolls, spicy edamame (crunch bits on it, so not a fave although the flavor was good) one roll was the sunburnt roll. It was good but nothing so memorable that I wanted to go back. Glad I got to try, seems like they have a good night vibe. You should try it, might be your thing. read more

Service and ambiance was good. My fiancé and I went on a Monday afternoon. I've been here before but hard to remember what I had. Started off with the wakame salad (my favorite!) which was good, can't complain. My fiancé got the orange blossom and the sunburnt which he liked. As a vegetarian (I will sometimes eat fish, depends) I got the Wonder and the Evergreen. I wish these rolls had sauce because they were a bit dry for me...I'd probably order something else and then update my review. read more
Midtown Dining [Sacramento CA] My daughter introduced us to this sushi restaurant located in Midtown. We don't come to Sacramento enough so it was a nice change of venue for dining. We were seated immediately. The menu can be scanned on the QR code but it's very tiny on the phone. Seeing how we were struggling to view the menu online were given a paper menu but we were told that the prices were not updated. We ordered the following: Wakame Salad Broadway Roll Tempura Udon Bento Box - Teriyaki Salmon and Beef Teriyaki Food came quickly. The portions on my bento box were generous especially the salmon. The beef was tender and cut in perfect small bite size portions. The house salad was very good. The teriyaki sauce was spread evenly and both salmon and beef were tasty and flavorful. Daughter and husband also enjoyed their meals. The tempura that came with the udon was a large piece and came with mixed vegetable tempura pieces. Hubby said that the broth on the udon was a tad too salty for his taste. The food was a little pricey but even a casual dinner is expensive nowadays. The servers were great and very attentive. OMG! The bitter was deeeeelicious!! I definitely recommend trying it out! The service is on point and super friendly. In midtown and spacious. The only downfall is street parking. But if you do what we did and make it fun park wherever and ride a scooter. Enjoy folks! read more
Bestie and I came here after our reservations at a different spot got canceled. This spot looks pretty trendy. The bar is in the separate room, and that looked like a neat spot. We sat in the main restaurant area for dinner. We each got drinks - I decided on a Tokyo Tea - Which was a blast from the past! I hadn't had one of those in a really long time. Anyway, all of the rolls we had were pretty tasty - I would say - That I would skip the ocean trout. That's just meh. The waitress recommended the brown sugar boba taiyaki - That was the perfect reco! The boba is nice and chewy, in cotrast with the coldness of the ice cream... SO GOOD! When you go here, the entrance is not the door with the business name on it. It's the door to the right of it. They had outside seating. Servers were very nice and professional. They were ready to seat me right away. They checked on me several times. They had free water on the counter if you want any. Water tasted good. No funky taste. read more
Parking in this area is a bit more inconvenient so give yourself some extra time to find parking if you're coming during prime dinner hours or in the evening as it's located near residential homes that utilize the street parking. Made a reservation through Yelp for 8pm on a Friday but we came in earlier than our reservation and it wasn't too crowded. So may not need to but couldn't hurt. The sushi here is quite a bit more expensive than other places and honestly didn't hit the spot like I was hoping. I can't pin point why(maybe the toppings took away from the fish as opposed to enhancing the fish) as they looked delicious and Presentation was beautiful. Ramen was delicious and felt like it was more memorable for me compared to the sushi. Calamari was also delicious and crispy. Light crispy tempura style batter. Sauce was some type of mixture that contained Tobasco. Service was ok/neutral. Definitely pricier that other places. Would recommend this place for ramen more than the sushi. read more

We went here based on reviews but we didn't get greetings n when we finally did customer service was so poor. We walked out because it was sadly upsetting.. The host was not even happy he was rude.. we ended up taking our tip and money elsewhere. Also the menu is out of date? We had to scan a barcode but still got an outdated menu.. Why? just let people know that they can scan the barcode to access menu.. Also, everything was way over priced for not so good service.. What made this a -0 review if I could was being a first time visitor and not getting proper interaction waited for at least 7 mins or 8 before getting recognized with the other people also waiting and they were confused on what to do.. The bathrooms were at least nice though. read more

Food: 6/10 Service: 6/10 Ambiance: 8/10 We came here on a Saturday evening with reservations for 4. The place was not packed at all for a Saturday, probably 4 tables occupied. So, we decided to be seated by the bar to enjoy the drink choices. It's advertised as a full bar, but to my surprised there's not a lot of choices. We tried to order a smoky old fashion, he didn't have it, so he just make us whatever old fashion with regular ice - sorry no block ice here. I asked him to make me a cocktail that is not too sweet, he can't do it, so we just ordered sake. I figured we can't go wrong with sake. I had high hopes for this place with all the nice food reviews and been wanting to try the Omakase style, and found out that's only for advance requests only for the other days and not for Saturdays, so sadly not possible this time. I ordered raw oysters and uni - not available today as well. At this point, I'm not sure what else to order, so I just asked our server ( the bartender) to bring us 2 popular tuna rolls that they do have. I'm so glad they have the Nigiri Otoro and was okay, I've had better. Other dish like chicken karaage and soft shell crab was okay. Lastly, trying taiyaki ice cream here and it's kinda stale, had better ones at sumi sumi. I hardly give reviews such as this, and just solely based on my experience for that day of this place. It is a nice ambiance with so much potential on first impressions, but just lacking customer service and the wow factor experience. This place is great. Went to Bob's show on Sept. 18th and we wanted some sushi after. Not many late night sushi places open after 10pm, but this was. We were greeted warmly, served right away, and had some of the best food. I ordered the ginger lemon tea, the honey roll, and the katsudon. I wasn't even thinking about taking pictures last night, but I had the katsudon left over and included that picture. The serving was NICE! Had it for lunch today. I loved the atmosphere of the place. It's not too big, but it's sizable enough that you aren't sitting on top of the next table. It's cosy and the bar is right next to it, through a door. I ended up having a Long Island iced tea, as well, which was just perfect. I definitely plan to come back in the future! read more

We have customer who request for soy wrap and no rice for sushi roll. Not entire sure If this would satisfy gluten free diet. Please confirm before ordering. Chef should be able to advise
