Took a poll amongst the girlie group chat and consensus led us to Lola's! Can't believe I've been sleeping on this place. The food, the space, the bartenders Joel and Hector! Can't believe this place isn't more well-known. The food was amazing- we got the papas and empanadas app. Ordering was very well-guided as well. Entrees we got included the pollo con arroz, pollo guisado and Puerto Rican special. Also got the flan with chocolate cake and what pierto rican meal would be complete without coquito!

Great outdoor seating. You get to watch humming birds as you eat/drink. Good portion for the price. Didn't get to try paella this time because we wanted to try other foods. Paella was priced at $50 (menu said good for 2 people) so might try just that next time. Overall good experience.

TLDR: Lola's is a great little restaurant, with a really cozy ambience and amazing food. It's a perfect place for date nights where you can usually be assured of great service and food. Our recent visit was definitely NOT the norm. Read on for details. The good: The food was amazing! Presentation was top notch. The Pastelon was very well seasoned, although I wish the portion was larger for the price, and the side of beans and rice were cooked perfectly. The bad: It was cold as heck in the restaurant! The ambient temp was about 65 degrees and they had all the ceiling fans running on high, with the front door open. I noticed other diners were also bundled up in coats. I'm not sure why they didn't at least turn the speed of the fans down. We were initially seated right under a fan and asked to move to a different table that was away from the fans. That seat was better but it was still rather cool in the restaurant. Second, the service was rather slow. I'm sure they made the food fresh so a little wait time is to be expected, but It took so long for our order to come that the server decided to bring us an order of potato chips because he noticed the long wait.

Authentic Puerto Rican food!! Delicious food and great service. The atmosphere is fun. I'm definitely returning . They have live music sometimes so call and ask and also make reservations. The back patio is decorated and gives you Puerto Rican vibes.

Cool Puerto Rican spot with bar indoor seating and a good sized private patio. It's basically across the street from the iconic Willies Burger downtown. The Bank of America on the other side closed down so we parked in their lot. We tried a lot of things but the wings, paella and choco flan stood out. The wings were giant plump and juicy $13. The paella was covered in home made chips and had an underlying heat. Paella is portioned for 2 at $50. Now I normally don't care for flan as it seems to one note for me. However choco flan is paired with moist chocolate cake and it was the perfect combination. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. The patio is deconstructed granite so I wouldn't recommend bringing your pet unless you don't mind them getting dirty. Overall a great experience here and we would like to try more of the menu.

We tried Lola's Lounge on a whim, and we are really glad we did. I had no idea there was an authentic Puerto Rican restaurant so close to Land Park. Everything about this place is amazing: 1) Love the ambiance. They really go all out for Christmas, and it's a super cute place to have a holiday meal. They even decorate two trees all in Puerto Rican flags and emblems. 2) The staff is great. Super friendly and attentive, and they took the time to not only address my dairy issue, but also just have a nice conversation. 3) The menu is great, as is the taste of the food and the prices. They have an awesome happy hour a few days per week. The vegan bowl was so good, super flavorful. There's actually a lot of dairy-free items here. They also have a ton of fun drinks including Puerto Rican spirits. The only think they are missing is beer from Ocean brewery. Our kids also loved their meals, which is not always the case! Definitely give Lola's a try they next time you want a great dinner out!

Such cool vibes happening at Lola's Lounge. My mom requested this spot for her birthday dinner, and we were all stunned by the beauty and the flavors. Upon arrival we were kindly greeted and seated. I tried the patatas de crema and the Tito's steak. The patatas de crema has a fun wasabi sauce drizzled on it without being too spicy. The Tito's steak wasn't my favorite since it was slightly on the sweeter side but it was still yummy! I loved the salad and the rice that I got with it (I subbed rice for the potatoes). They have a full bar and a beautiful interior. Definitely a great spot for friends, family, or dates!

Nice date night restaurant! Very beautifully decorated. All of the staff here are attentive and friendly. During my visit, I decided to go with the pastelon, which is a plantain lasagna. This was my first time trying something like this and will be back to have it again! The drinks here are also very good.

Seriously good!!! A coworker recommended this place to us, and I'm so glad we finally tried it. It's such a fun atmosphere and the staff were so nice. We were there on a Wednesday night, so it wasn't super busy and that meant we got to chat with the bartender and server for awhile. They gave us great recommendations, and we were so full of delicious food and drink when we left! I would highly recommend checking out Lola's. Especially if you've never had food from PR before. I would love to go back when they have live music to see the place really come to life!

Great customer service & good food! Enjoyed every dish I've tried here except the Paella. I ordered it again the other day after trying it a few years prior and it lacked flavor the 1st time and was oversalted/meat was dry the second time. My friend & I enjoyed the pineapple guava wings (perfectly seasoned & our fav dish of the night) , potatoes patatas de crema, & our mocktails. I would give the food 3.5 stars but rounded up since the staff here always provide stellar customer service and the restaurant as a whole has such a warm upbeat vibe! I will return to try some of the other entrees.

pastelon with the beans, white rice and salad, pineapple guava wings, maduritos, Puerto Rican Special.

What are the parking options in the area? Is patio seating area heated and covered? Thanks

Parking was somewhat limited but the food and ambience are worth the walk if you have to park a couple of blocks away. Unfortunately, I wasn't privy to seeing the patio area, so I couldn't answer that for you.

Since they have moved to a new location do they still do happy hour?

    Until 6:00 on weekdays

It says give the paella 40 minutes. Does this mean I can get it without mussels if I have an allergy to them? *LOVE paella, but not if it kills me*

    Yes

Is Lolas open downtown yet? I see no recent posts, and the phone # is a Elk Grove telephone number. I know there are a lot of hurdles trying to open a restaurant and hoping the City isn't trying to feed their deep pockets so they can open up soon.

We are open. Celebrated one year on Nov. 3rd. We have a beautiful outdoor patio, indoor dining, take out, and soon DoorDash.

    Where is the new location?

    2424 16th St.

Is there an update phone number? I've been trying to call for reservations for two days but no answer.

1-916-389-0429. I have updated it many times. Yelp is just not posting it.

Is there a private dining area? If so, how many seats?

No private dining. We do rent out indoor and outdoor space.

What are the happy hour deals?

Come in from 4-7 pm.... looks pretty good

Is there live music on Wednesday nights as well?

    Thursday's & Saturdays

Any events going on at Lola's tonight?

We also discussed his upbringing in NYC and his long history in the Bay Area's challenging culinary scene. This conversation happened before I had the opportunity to taste the succulent Puerto Rican dishes on his menu. Chef Erick is a truly humble and professional culinary artist. He lets his cooking do the talking, allowing his ingredients and timely combinations to showcase his superb culinary skills. From our conversation, I learned that he genuinely cares about the quality of his ingredients. While we talked about his experiences cooking for all kinds of tables in the Bay Area, from VIPs and celebrities to daily blue-collar San Franciscans seeking standout meals, Chef Erick answered at least five phone calls. He diligently coordinated with his local suppliers to ensure he, and in turn his customers, would have access to nothing but the best ingredients during the upcoming weekend rush. Most Puerto Ricans, including those adopted (see Chef Anthony Bourdain's memoirs), know a Puerto Rican restaurant is truly judged by the quality and flavor of its Pernil. This slow-roasted pork shoulder or leg is marinated in a robust herb paste. Many Puerto Rican families guard their herb paste recipes as closely as The Coca-Cola Company guards its Coca-Cola recipe. Pernil is the centerpiece of holiday feasts and family celebrations. That's why I chose this menu to celebrate meeting Chef Erick. Without hesitation, he prepared for me--someone born and raised in Puerto Rico--his masterfully concocted pernil with arroz con gandules and a side of maduros fritos. I have to say, this was the best Puerto Rican food I have tasted in all of California, from Santa Rosa to San Diego. "I left my soul...near downtown Petaluma....high on a hill, it calls to me..." Okay Tony Bennett…read morethis location of Sol Food may be no where near San Francisco, try as they might, or a hill, but it is centrally located near Sonoma wine country, which makes it the perfect place to grab a quick bite there or for the road with a meal filled with authentic Latin cuisine with a true emphasis in Puerto Rican cuisine. Open for over four years since 2022, this location of Sol Food is symbolic of the success that founders and owners Marisol "Sol" Hernandez and her husband, Victor Cielo have found themselves in ever since they opened back in 2004 with their first brick and mortar location in downtown San Rafael after being such a success with their Farmers Market stand. After a second location opened in Mill Valley, many other cities have been clamoring for Sol Food to open in their neck of the woods with no such luck, but somehow Petaluma got lucky as the perfect confluence of factors presented themselves with this huge location in a still relatively new complex that previously hosted Sauced BBQ for a number of years. This location along Petaluma Boulevard South and D Street is perfect for both locals and out-of-towners to make a beeline for their third location. What brought me here finally was the fact that I was in town to meet a friend, but somehow managed to get in the area so early that I thought to myself what if I finally get to this location of Sol Food and order some food to take home, but also casually nosh on a little bit of my order beforehand? Parking along Petaluma Boulevard South was surprisingly easy, as I think I got here early enough to find enough decent parking available. When I arrived at Sol Food they had a decent amount of customers sitting inside their dining room, but they were not filled to maximum capacity. The takeout ordering counter is actually located towards the rear of the restaurant towards the inner courtyard where they have additional outdoor seating. With a fast-casual kind of vibe where visitors can order from a kiosk screen, everything was super orderly at this vast location. The menu at Sol Food is separated into categories including Desayuno (Breakfast); Caldos, Sopas y Guisos (Soups, Stews & Broths; Combinacions (Combinations); Sandwiches, with a majority served on French Roll; Ensaladas Frías (Cold Salads); Ensaladas Calientes (Hot Salads); Plátanos y Cosas Fritas (Plantains & Fried Thangs); A La Carta and Sides; Postres (Desserts); Refrescos (Beverages); and Café (Espresso Drinks). With this big of a menu, obviously there is a lot to choose from. Since I have been to their San Rafael location, and having the knowledge that Sol Food is famous for their Pollo Al Horno which is their signature baked chicken thighs, I decided to gear my appetite towards the sandwich section of their menu, and their Sándwich De Pollo which was made with baked chicken, ham, sautéed onions, Swiss cheese, tomatoes, organic greens, and spread with cilantro-lime mayonnaise was calling my name. After clicking through my lunchtime order with my sandwich, there were additional items on their Specials of the Day section of their menu that I didn't even know existed and their Spicy Coconutty Stew, that had the benefit of being served with cooked shrimp at an additional cost, of which I passed on, sounded appetizing thanks to the spicy and coconutty broth that was topped with fresh cilantro. Served with steamed rice and their deep fried plantains on the side. This dish put the spice in a spicy Puerto Rican inspired meal! My total bill was $29.66 before gratuity was added in, which made for a rather moderately priced lunchtime meal considering how much food I was about to get in my brown paper bag. It wouldn't take too long for my food to be brought to where I was patiently sitting along a small counter with stools that seemed made for people waiting to pick up their orders. I could not resist and I decided to eat half of my chicken sandwich right there outside in their courtyard area and I was not disappointed as it was juicy, flavorful and piping hot with every bite. I took a few spoonfuls of my stew and it too was a real tasty winner and upon returning home and reheated this daily special menu item was just as flavorful when I first tasted it earlier. I am so glad I not only got the opportunity to try the wonderful dishes at Sol Food Petaluma finally, but even with them opening here with this prime location, I now have a spot to make a brief stop to get all my favorite savory dishes ordered in quick succession. "When I come home to you, Sol Food Petaluma, your golden sun will shine for me..." never sung so true when visiting Sol Food Petaluma!

We started with the croquetas al gusto with Serrano ham and the pinchos morunos (lamb skewers). The croquets had a perfectly crispy exterior with the most creamy delicate cheese that was savory and yummy! Sooo good!! The skewers were so good! The meat was tender and the sauce had a wonderful deep flavor. Really tasty! We had the paella Barcelonetta (squid ink paella). The shrimp and scallops were cooked perfectly! The sofrito on top was really good and added a bit of lightness and acidity to the dish. The paella did not taste fishy at all. It was a good amount of food, and felt perfect for two people. The paella was soo delicious!! We had wanted to try this paella, but asked our very knowledgeable server what she would recommend and she said this was her favorite. I can see why!! It was amazing! We ate all of it. We were comfortably full, but decided to finish off the evening with the mascarpone limon mousse. It is just as described, a lemon mousse over top lemoncello. It was light and refreshing, a great way to end the evening. All of the food was spectacular! No dish was heavy. Everything felt well balanced and perfectly cooked! I would highly recommend Aioli whether it is for a lunch or dinner, date night or for a celebration! It's one of those places that delivers on quality such that you could go back again and again!

The 3-star rating is actually an average of my 4-star and my wife's 2-star ratings. Why was she so…read moremuch less happy with our supper tonight? Read on. So we ended up at Aioli tonight with another couple after trying and failing to get in at the place across the street. We weren't unhappy about that as we used to frequent Aioli years ago and always really liked it. I'll just cut to the chase here and say that the problem tonight was the service. Everything seemed really rushed and pacing was poor. Our friends already had their cocktails when we got there, and we each ordered one while checking out the menu., When they arrived, our server asked us for our orders, but we weren't ready, so she came back a short time later. My wife ordered a salad and a tapa plate and was asked whether she wanted the salad ahead of time or with the meal and she said she'd have it with the meal. A short time later, the food came out, with the exception of the salad. It didn't come out for some time, and my wife was just getting ready to tell them not to bother when it arrived. Right after that, they cleared the rest of the plates and asked us if we wanted dessert or coffee. Obviously, she was still working on the salad at that point. So she really did not appreciate the service. I was less unhappy about it, but she certainly had a good point. It was way too rushed and uneven for a place like Aioli. In addition to that, our server just seemed to have a rushed and frantic edge to her, and that didn't help at all We did agree that the food was very good. Her chorizo dish and the salad were both excellent. I had the octopus and the little pork skewers, both of which were fantastic. (That octopus is an absolute classic and everyone should try it.) Fried brussels sprouts were fine - not excellent, but certainly not bad. I liked my cocktail, my wife didn't particularly like hers. So we're averaging this one out to a three. I would have to go back for more data points to see which of the two or four star ratings is really more emblematic of Aioli. Unfortunately, my wife doesn't want to go back. So bottom line: good food, poor service, excellent octopus. Mike sez check it out but beware.
