    Bean Dip

My favorite Mexican spot in Sac... Came here with a large work group on cinco de mayo. Vibes were immaculate. Haven't been to zocalo where they had music blasting before. I went with the ole reliable mole enchiladas, which never disappoint. Rice and beans are also solid, but also the complimentary bean dip is amazing. Service was good, even on a busier night. Will be back.

Such a cute spot with a great aesthetic! They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, which is nice, but it does get pretty loud inside--so it can be a bit hard to hear conversations if you're with a group. They start you off with salsa, black bean dip, and chips, and the black bean dip was definitely my favorite. I ordered the flautas and the salmon bowl, both had great portions and tasted fresh with really flavorful ingredients. Parking can be a little tough, so I'd recommend giving yourself extra time to find a spot. The wait staff was friendly, but they didn't come around much to check on us or refill drinks, which would've made the experience even better. Overall, still a solid place I'd come back to!

Always good for food but unless you're independently wealthy maybe find another spot for drinks. A group of us stopped here to grab some margaritas, for 3 singles and 5 doubles (8 total drinks), it was $263.00. I've paid less than this at full service resorts. The drinks and service were great, but way too expensive in my opinion.

We came here around 3 for happy hour on a Friday before holiday weekend. Just so happened to be graduation weekend as well. Surprisingly busy, but we easily got a seat at the bar. The restaurant is massive, with patio seating on both sides. Multiple TVs as well if you're interested in watching any games. Happy hour is available in the entire restaurant. The complimentary chips and salsa was great. Love that you get a black bean purée/salsa in addition as you rarely see this. We opted for the De la Casa margarita and the Cadillac margarita. Both were very well made! Other pictures showed the glass size, but you couldn't really tell so the picture does show a comparison to the water glass (ie they are the same glass lol) The quesadilla was less quesadilla and more burrito, but either way delicious and super full of meat. The shrimp tacos were good. I was excited for the pineapple habanero salsa mostly, but it really wasn't anything to write home about--pretty standard shrimp taco in corn tortilla not super spicy. Overall, we had a great experience, drinks were really well made and the food was good. Especially for happy hour pricing you really can't go wrong.

Stopped by Zócalo Midtown on a Tuesday afternoon and it ended up being such a vibe. We were seated right away, and with the rain and the big windows it felt really nice and cozy. The place itself is beautiful, full bar, big screens, and everyone was dressed nice which added to the experience. I ordered the tostada salad and it did not disappoint fresh, flavorful, and really good. We also got a few pitchers (blackberry, mango, and Cadillac) and they were actually pretty strong. Our waiter was super friendly and attentive, constantly checking in and refilling our drinks. When a couple more friends joined us, they moved us to a bigger booth with no issue which I appreciated. Overall great service, great atmosphere, and good drinks. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

GET THE FISH TACOS AND BLACKBERRY MARGARITA 10/10 Service and ambiance were good. Came for a friend's birthday dinner and the servers brought a dessert and sang. We asked for a round of shooters and they made blackberry + tequila which were really good!

Made a reservation for a Friday night. Extra busy with lots of birthdays. They sang extra loud for every bday so it's a fun place to celebrate, lol 5/5 free chips and salsa with black bean dip 5/5 Ceviche verde - hubs liked it 5/5 Guanajuato chx enchiladas has excellent sauce. Got the à la carte for $6. 5/5 arrachera comes medium well but I requested medium. It was tasty and flavorful with a portobello mushroom. We requested they split share. 5/5 friend got the Baja fish tacos which were huge and looked amazing. They were happy with it. Interior is a bit dark and also loud but the decor is elevated and it's a fun place to start the night.

Came in yesterday for a friends birthday, we do this every year. I finally was intentional in taking photos. Pozole needed some salt, but was delicious after I added salt. Regardless, The food is consistent and delicious here. We also got the fish tacos and salmon tacos. Their beans and rice are so yummy! For birthdays they sing you a song and come out with a sparkler, they make it really special. The dessert is delicious too! I don't drink alcohol anymore, but when I did, it was always consistent as well. Great place for dinner dates, celebrations, business dinners, and catching up with friends.

One of the most popular places in Sac, for a reason! I don't come here often but I'm not mad when I find myself here. There will probably be at least 10 birthdays when you come but that's a part of the atmosphere lol the food is really good, the decor is nice especially around the holidays and the service/drinks are great too. All around, can't go wrong. Food: 4.1 Service: 4.3 Ambiance: 4.2 Marcels foodie score: 4.2

Strawberry Crème Espresso Martini and Blackberry Margarita
    Sidney S.

Wow, I have nothing but remarkable things to say about this place. My girls and I came here for lunch on Valentine's Day and I truly had a fantastic experience! I have to start off by talking about our waitress, Talisa. Her demeanor and service were EXACTLY how well customer service should be nowadays. When we sat, we were welcomed by her forthcoming, warm personality and her bright energy! She gave a full rundown of the drink menu when we asked for recommendations, and actually recommended the strawberry crème espresso martini. We ordered two of those, as well as a blackberry margarita, which were all terrific! Talisa also brought over complimentary pineapple muffins which were also quite delicious. When it came to ordering food, she recommended the most ideal dish from all the taco options. So I ordered the taco plate from which I chose two shrimp tacos and a fish taco, and they was AMAZING. The mango flavors I tasted on the tacos were a great surprise, and the cilantro rice the dish came with was also a great pairing that I truly enjoyed! I only took pictures of the drinks, but when my taco plate arrived, it looked so good that I completely forgot to take a photo. Sometimes, it's rare to come to an establishment where the service, as well as the food are BOTH exceptional, but in my opinion, Zócalo intentionally delivers. I still day dream about everything I ordered, so I could not recommend this place more!!

Wonderful experience tonight the day before valentines! Francisco was our waiter and was amazing. Honestly their customer service in general is great. The complimentary salsa is a little spicy for me but the table loved it. The complimentary beans were good but do have a small amount of spice if you're sensitive to that. We had the fish tacos, the Zoco quesadilla and the carnitas tacos. The flavor is THERE for all their food. The carnitas were incredibly tender and the fish tacos had a great texture. We ended with the tres leches that had a slightly different take but I did love it. Creamy and light. Please add this to your list of places to eat!

All the food we ordered on the happy hour was 10/10 and i'd definitely recommend the arrachera Service was so good they helped us move seats and even close the blinds. It was so cute inside too.

I love, love this restaurant! Brought my parents here Thursday! Please order their Queso appetizer! It comes with homemade corn tortillas! Its amazing! Their empanadas are very good as well. Their salsa & black bean dip are both perfectly made. Simply clean, delicious and a must have!

When I hear the words " anything scramble" i think of a bunch of ingredients mixed together as a scramble. This was more of just scrambled eggs with some fried avocados on top. These breakfast "potatoes" were also dissatisfying and flavorless. I've worked in the restaurant business and can tell you that I hated when people sent plates back so I'm not one to send my plates back and make complaints, but this one was very close to me breaking that personal rule. It felt like we're in some amusement park, 5 minutes later we got a text that we had a table ready for us. Inside the restaurant felt very cozy yet rowdy (in a good way). We ordered their Famous French Toast, Eggs Tower, Thai Steak & Eggs, and the Madame Cristo. Everything in our meal was delicious, and hit in all the right places. Not to mention our server was holding it down for us providing outstanding service even while pregnant. Great restaurant, great food, great service. Definitely wanting to come back!

Tower Cafe is one of the pillars of Sacramento, a longtime fixture in the city's zeitgeist. People…read moreunderstandably love it. It's been years since I've been, mainly because of the long wait times and no reservations on weekends. As a planner, I gravitate toward places where I can make a reservation. However, it was a special occasion, so we committed to it on a holiday weekend. The wait was estimated at 1.5 hours for a party of 7, but it ended up being closer to 40 minutes, which honestly wasn't bad at all. The patio and waiting area are gorgeous and make the wait worth it on a beautiful day. Great shade from the trees, solid service, and a really nice ambiance overall. The menu is massive with a little bit of everything and huge portions, so it's quite hard to decide. I settled on the Madame Cristo because it sounded decadent and somewhere between lunch and breakfast, which felt perfect for brunch. And decadent it was. The cheesy ham and béchamel blended into this super rich, fatty bite balanced by the French toast it was sandwiched between. The eggs on top were almost overkill, but still a welcome addition for some protein. The chipotle raspberry jam was surprisingly good too, almost like a smoky raspberry salsa that added sweetness and helped cut through some of the richness. The potatoes were standard and nothing to write home about. It was definitely a lot, but pretty good and exactly what you expect from a brunch spot like this. I'm not going to say the food is mind-blowing, but it's solid and they have unique dishes, great vibes, and something for everyone to enjoy. Nice to see that Tower Cafe is still doing well after all these years and remains a great place to celebrate special occasions.
