WOW. I pass by this place all the time and finally decided to give it a try. Blown away by flavor. Incredible. We got the ceviche, pork belly, and chicken pachamanquiero (?) I can't remember the name but holy smokes it was one of best things I've had in 2026. Absolute must order. I'm so glad we gave this place a try, it's in our dinner rotation now. We had an excellent experience here. We stared with the empanadas appetizer, the provolone cheese was my favorite of the 2 flavors they offered. Then we moved on to the yuca and plantain plate, which was very fresh and flavorful. They come with very tasty dipping sauces. For our entree we tried the chicken pachamanquero and the fettuccine. Both extremely different, but such flavor and vibrant dishes. The pachamanquero had so many different components to it, but everything tasted delicious together. I also really appreciate that all of our dishes came out of the kitchen very hot, literally steaming. The portions are actually rather large here so I think if you get an appetizer, their entrees are definitely shareable. To finish we got a few alfajores. I would definitely return for a special occasion. The restaurant is very modern inside, service was also great and attentive. For the price and quality you get of their food, this place is worth a try if you've been waiting to give them a shot!

    Sunday Buffet: Pasta Bar
    Danielle G.

This review is for the monthly Sunday buffet only. This was my first time trying Peruvian food, and I honestly couldn't have picked a better place to start because their Sunday buffet made it so easy to explore a wide variety of dishes. There was so much to try, from fresh ceviche to hot dishes and even a pasta bar. I loved being able to sample different flavors and build a plate with a little bit of everything. It felt like the perfect introduction to a cuisine I hadn't experienced before. Everything I tried was flavorful and well prepared, and the buffet setup made the experience fun and approachable. If you're curious about Peruvian food or want a great way to try multiple dishes in one visit, the Sunday buffet is absolutely the way to go. I'm already looking forward to coming back and discovering even more from the menu.

Oh my gosh, I would come back in a heartbeat. The lomo saltado was magnificent! That and the ceviche samplers were our favorite by far. You should definitely get the plantain chips with the ceviche. It doesn't come with a lot, but they're worth it. The other dishes were extremely flavorful - not our favorite, but we were happy to eat it!! the place is pretty big and it wasn't too busy when we went on a Friday night. Staff were really sweet. This place deserves more credit!!

I came here on Valentine's Day with my date and overall had a really nice experience. We had made a reservation, but when we arrived they told us there would be about a 15-minute wait unless we wanted to sit at the bar on the patio. It was pretty cold outside, and they let us know the patio heater wasn't working. We decided to sit out there anyway. Luckily I had brought my coat, so it wasn't too bad. It even started sprinkling at one point, and we ended up moving ourselves further under the eave for cover. Despite the weather hiccups, the service really stood out. Our waitress was incredibly kind, attentive, friendly, and personable. She made us feel welcome and taken care of the entire time. The food was very good. I ordered the arroz con mariscos and absolutely enjoyed it. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, and the seafood tasted fresh. Even with the small inconvenience of the patio situation, I would definitely come back and would recommend this place. Great food and wonderful service made it worth it.

We really enjoyed our dinner here. Everything was tasty and the staff was very helpful since it was our first time. Jesus was our water and he was great. We ordered the sampler. All dishes were good, and our favorite was the short rib. Didn't try dessert because we were too full. Next time!

I'm so glad my friend recommended this restaurant because not only was it my first time having Peruvian food but this was absolutely delicious. The inside of this restaurant is very beautiful and spacious, the staff were very nice and welcoming, and our dinner was great. I ordered the ceviche Máncora and the Maracuyá and was in love. The ceviche was perfectly balanced between the fish, the limey spicy juice, and the sweet potato and corn. The Maracuyá was so good, fruity and sweet. This was an incredible meal, and my friend's as well. They got fettuccine primavera, pollo saltado, and pan con chicharron. For drinks they got Inca kola, chicha morada, and a cocktail (the name escapes me). Everything was great and we were all so satisfied with our choices. I will absolutely be back again, wish it was slightly less expensive. So good!

Crema Volteada Flan Peruvian Style and a birthday cheesecake

Our family visited Chicha on a Tuesday evening in January to celebrate my partner's birthday, after receiving a recommendation from someone at the Midtown Farmers Market. We're so glad we took their advice--everything from the food to the atmosphere exceeded our expectations. Appetizers Pork Belly Anticuchero - Crispy pork belly bites, anticuchera sauce, chalaquita sarsa, and ají amarillo aioli. Easily a 10/10. The appetizer comes with four pieces, and each bite was incredibly savory and packed with flavor. The pork belly was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. Jalea de Mariscos - Deep-fried calamari, shrimp, and fish with cassava fries, sarza criolla, and tartara sauce. Another standout dish. I loved the variety of seafood, and everything was fried to perfection. The pickled purple onions added the perfect bright, tangy contrast. Entrées Carapulcra - Tender pork belly slow-cooked in a richly flavored stew with dehydrated potatoes, spices, and a hint of peanuts, served with criolla sarza and steamed rice. My partner ordered this and was blown away by the depth of flavor and the tenderness of the pork. The spices were beautifully balanced and made this dish truly memorable. Pollo Saltado - Chicken stir-fried with onions, tomatoes, soy sauce, french fries, jasmine rice, and a fried egg. Two people in our group ordered this and absolutely loved it. They ate it so quickly that I didn't even get a chance to take a photo--it was that good. Mahi-Mahi Costero - Grilled mahi-mahi topped with braised mussels and clams in a warm ají amarillo ceviche sauce, served with steamed rice. This dish was praised for how perfectly the mahi-mahi was cooked--flaky and moist, never dry. The mussels and clams were fresh and flavorful, making the dish feel both comforting and elevated. Fettuccine a la Huancaína con Lomo Saltado - Wok-stir-fried beef tenderloin with onions and tomatoes, served over fettuccine in a creamy huancaína sauce. This was my dish, and it was hands down one of the best meals I've ever had. The beef was tender, flavorful, and not chewy at all. The creamy huancaína sauce paired beautifully with the pasta and vegetables--absolutely delicious. Dessert Crema Volteada (Peruvian-style flan) We ordered this for my partner's birthday, and the staff surprised us with an extra slice of cheesecake to celebrate--a thoughtful and much-appreciated touch. The flan itself was outstanding, easily one of the best we've ever had. The texture and flavor are slightly different from Mexican flan, and I highly recommend not skipping this dessert on your visit. Service & Ambiance Service was a perfect 10/10 from start to finish. Our host was incredibly kind, attentive, and patient, which made the celebration even more special. The restaurant itself is vibrant and beautifully decorated, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that complements the food perfectly.

PASSION FRUIT & MANGO CHEESECAKE!!! Let's put a pin in that for a moment.....Sacramento has to be proud of Chicha Peruvian Kitchen (Chicha for short)! Excellent experience all around. From the greeting at the door to the cleanliness of the dining area, the attentive servers to the perfectly plated food.....all ....straight . I had the Fettuccine Huancaina Con Lomo Saltado (pictured)....succulent and creamy. Pollo Saltado; Lomo Saltado and Chicken Pachamanca was also served to our table....absolutely hit the mark on every bite. Heated outdoor patios adds the perfect touch if needed. Our entire table enjoyed everything served! NOW....the cheesecake.....over the top good! Fresh, light, fruit sweetened and layered with passion fruit & mango. Perfect ending to a meal that could have lasted all night. Congrats to the Chef and all the staff...I will return and I encourage EVERYONE to step outside your comfort zone for something you probably don't know about.....Eat & enjoy!

Awesome experience. Came in on a Friday night around 8:45p. It was empty-ish, which was surprising given the level of care from the staff and the overall quality of the food. Pollo panchemanquero (most likely spelling that incorrectly): 4.9/5 - Great portion - Fresh ingredients - Nice and simple presentation Salmon Aldino: 4.8/5 - smaller portion - friend enjoyed it - simple presentation Flan: 4.2/5 - Friend liked it, and was trying to decide the difference between this dis and regular flan - small portion Bread pudding: 4.3/5 - it had ice cream, so, that's nice. - ok portion size - tasted very good Overall, The place is clean, staff are chill and prices are California prices. The fresh, simple ingredients, made this experience. Please check them out.

A lovely addition to the Sacramento Midtown area with great food and drinks. We ordered the ceviche trio (which can't be customized), with a side of chips. It was a lot of food for the price, and we didnt get to finish it all so we had it for the next day. I also ordered the lomo saltado, and while I understand it needs to be salty, I felt the salt overpowered the dish. I'd probably order something else next time to expand my options. They do have happy hour prices, which is nice for after work or early dinner outing. We didn't get any, but the sangria was very good and strong so you get your monies worth.

Seafood paella, full of seafood, flavor, texture, and aroma. Absolutely magnificent! 10/10
    Peggy G.

MAGNIFICENT meal - first time to try a Peruvian restaurant, and I was not familiar with the cuisine - so fabulous staff helped me decipher the menu and pick out the perfect meal for me - and man, I mean perfect! 10/10 Seafood paella - prepared just right, and leaving out things that would not agree with me. Flavorful, ample portion, generous with the seafood bits, lovely presentation, and every bite was exquisite. An elderly woman dining alone on a Saturday night can be a great experience, or it can go sideways. This was GREAT from the moment I walked in the door. I was welcomed, seated appropriately, and treated as a valued guest. Did I spend a little more on myself than I had planned? Yes. Was it worth every penny? YES! Will I be back? YES!

This was the first time for all of us eating here and eating Peruvian cuisine. Service was 5+ STARS! Food 5 STARS! Options 3 STARS :( Yessy was our server. She was very friendly, took the time to make recommendations, explained what was in certain items, and checked on us frequently. We ordered more food than we needed solely because she made everything sound delicious. Her knowledge of the cuisine was outstanding. Top notch service! We ordered the following: APPETIZERS Yuca Relllenas - great subtle flavor. Dipping sauce was excellent. Trio de empanadas Pork - good Chicken - amazing Chorizo - super amazing Sauce was subtle but paired perfectly with Conchillas à la Parmesana- a tad small, cheese over powered the scallop, but still really good. Complimentary Fresh bread and chimmi churri sauce was also very good. ENTREES Lomo Saltado - meat was flavored perfectly and very tender Seco de Cordero - fell off the bone it was so tender. Probably the best choice of the night Lahuaca salad - passion fruit dressing was so light and perfectly sweet LACK OF OPTIONS This is partly our fault, going out the week after Valentine's Day. Several of the items we wanted they were out of. Seafood - nope. Chicken - nope. Desserts - nope. I didn't want to write this review but I had a concern about something about the menu. I ordered the tequenos de pollo as an appetizer and the menu didn't say anything about it having cheese in which was perfect. I got the order and it in fact had cheese. I'm lactose intolerant and really sensitive to dairy so I asked about the cheese being in it. He confirmed it was in there, so I asked if they can just take it back- the waiter said no. I then asked if they can just take it off the bill because I couldn't eat it. He said no to that too. My husband doesn't eat meat and my son is lactose intolerant so it was going to be food wasted and money down the drain. I was pretty shocked because I've never been to a restaurant where they can't reasonable accommodate the guest. I then ordered my entree and the chicken was very dry and overcooked. I was not satisfied but I knew they wouldn't let me swap it for something else. Unfortunately I'm not going to rush to come back. The waiter was friendly enough but not accommodating. I get nervous when it comes to food allergies because now I know that some restaurants aren't disclosing food allergens which is actually not allowed. There are folks out here with life threatening allergies, so these places need to be careful. I'm glad I'm not one of those people but it's still disappointing.

The two options are al pastor or chicken or for $1 extra, asada. If you can't stand those two options, sure go ahead and order with the asada, but if you could go either way, choose the al pastor! It was so tender, flavorful, and juicy. I've only had al pastor this delicious one other time and have been chasing down that flavor for almost two years now and am happy to say I have found it with Ahuevo's al pastor. On top of that, the tostada inside is so unbelievably crispy and light and the toasted cheese on the outside is so genius. Those are probably the two characteristics that I love the most about this menu item. A few things were different with my experience this time, but nothing that would garner a lower rating. First, it was served in a nacho style tray rather than a takeout box. Not the biggest fan because it's difficult to transport, but on a good day, find a bench and you'll be just as comfortable as if you ate it in your office. Second, there were significantly less tortilla chips included. I counted maybe like six... but! They're not really important to the dish, except for when some of the fillings inevitably fall into the tray and you're left with the tortilla chips to scoop them up (you don't wanna waste this stuff). Lastly, there was no side sauce like when I ordered the asada, but again, not necessary! I wasn't a big fan of the sauce to begin with when I tried it, because the flavors are so balanced in the krunch wrap by itself that it's just not needed. Ok, one other thing that was different- the fillings were so generous! Last time I was biting into some thick layers of tortilla, but this time they got the ratio on the money. If you can only get one thing from this truck, get this and you will not regret it whatsoever. And just to emphasize, the quality versus the price of the food is absolutely insane. With surging food prices, I was happy paying $12 and am looking forward to hopefully seeing them in front of the Capitol again.

So we ended up at Aioli tonight with another couple after trying and failing to get in at the place across the street. We weren't unhappy about that as we used to frequent Aioli years ago and always really liked it. I'll just cut to the chase here and say that the problem tonight was the service. Everything seemed really rushed and pacing was poor. Our friends already had their cocktails when we got there, and we each ordered one while checking out the menu., When they arrived, our server asked us for our orders, but we weren't ready, so she came back a short time later. My wife ordered a salad and a tapa plate and was asked whether she wanted the salad ahead of time or with the meal and she said she'd have it with the meal. A short time later, the food came out, with the exception of the salad. It didn't come out for some time, and my wife was just getting ready to tell them not to bother when it arrived. Right after that, they cleared the rest of the plates and asked us if we wanted dessert or coffee. Obviously, she was still working on the salad at that point. So she really did not appreciate the service. I was less unhappy about it, but she certainly had a good point. It was way too rushed and uneven for a place like Aioli. In addition to that, our server just seemed to have a rushed and frantic edge to her, and that didn't help at all We did agree that the food was very good. Her chorizo dish and the salad were both excellent. I had the octopus and the little pork skewers, both of which were fantastic. (That octopus is an absolute classic and everyone should try it.) Fried brussels sprouts were fine - not excellent, but certainly not bad. I liked my cocktail, my wife didn't particularly like hers. So we're averaging this one out to a three. I would have to go back for more data points to see which of the two or four star ratings is really more emblematic of Aioli. Unfortunately, my wife doesn't want to go back. So bottom line: good food, poor service, excellent octopus. Mike sez check it out but beware.
