I've ordered the Arroz Con Mariscos many times, and I've honestly never been disappointed. It's delicious and consistently flavorful. My only wish is that they would remove the corn-like ingredient that comes in the dish, as I prefer it without it like they serve it at the Roseville location. I also really enjoy the Maracuyá, the flavor is always great. The beef empanadas are filling, the Fettuccine Huancaína has a delicious, flavorful sauce, and the fried plantains always taste fresh. The plantains and yuca are usually great as well. The servers are always nice, and the restaurant itself is clean and nicely decorated. My only minor complaint is that the bathrooms sometimes don't smell the best. Overall, though, I've had consistently good experiences here, especially with the Arroz Con Mariscos. read more

Nothing disappointed in this meal. Portions are quite large, especially the appetizers and fried rice, pretty worth the price. The success is are very tasty, the potato cake is creamy, the fish hot and cooked perfectly. The ceviche and taro chips are delicious, I enjoyed all the ingredients in there. The empanadas are juicy, the pork belly super soft and meaty. I would come again if I were in the area. The chicha morada was good, first time trying, not my favorite. We were neglected for a few minutes in the beginning, we got our menus but no one came to take our orders or serve water for a noticeable while. But without us pointing it out they apologized multiple times and explained the mixup, and the service was very good for everything other than that, serving, taking empty plates, boxing leftovers etc. The interior is nice, feels fancy, though the small lamp at the table was a bit odd, its light was very dim. read more

Excellent restaurant on the corner in Midtown where so much of the action takes place. We came in for dinner on a Saturday evening and were greeted at the door by a friendly host. He got us a table at the window so we could watch the passers by. They also have ample outdoor seating when the weather is good. Interior decor is contemporary with a splash of rustic South American flair. Our friendly server was quick and attentive throughout the meal from beginning to finish. For starters we knew we wanted the empanadas...one was filled with seasoned beef and the other with seasoned chicken. The crispy empanada shell was exceptional! Nice and crisp giving it a crunch when cut into and eaten. Not like others that are doughy in texture. Super awesome! Next we chose the Criollo Experience which is a sampling of three of the best dishes. Each one was really tasty with just enough spice to allow the dishes to shine. Our trio included the Seco de Res short rib, Aji de Gallina, and the Pork Belly Carapulcra... Each had their own wonderful set of flavors and all were excellent. We definitely will be coming back! read more

We tried Chicha for the first time and it won't be our last! We visited before Music Circus (there's a 10% discount if you show your ticket) and were seated promptly. The restaurant is very beautiful with really cool decor and vibey music. The pisco sour and passion fruit sour were both delicious to drink and all of the food was incredible! The chicken pachamanquero, arroz con mariscos, fettuccine huancaina, and steak were all terrific. The fettuccine huancaina was my order and I don't know if I've ever had anything that tasted like it before--so unique and flavorful! Jesus took great care of us, attentive without being overly present and had great recommendations. Thanks for a wonderful dinner, Chicha! read more

I pre-ordered takeout and was impressed by how pleasant, friendly, and efficient the phone service was. The Lomo Saltado tasted good overall, and the fried plantains were delicious. The Chicha Morada was also enjoyable. A few small notes: the Lomo Saltado had 95% rice, fries and vegetables and what seemed 5% of less beef, the yuca seemed a bit undercooked, and the plate was quite oily. The yellow sauce wasn't quite as flavorful as I've had elsewhere, and $8 felt a bit high for the Chicha Moradad drink. The total for two Lomo Saltados, the plantain/yuca plate, and a Chicha Morada came to $113.57. Still, the solid phone service and tasty elements make me open to trying them again. read more

My first time trying Peruvian food and I had so much fun! I arrived on a Monday around 4:45pm for their happy hour specials. There was no wait when we arrived. We had the kindest server who let me sample a few (non alcoholic) drinks before making my decision. My colleague and I ordered two appetizers off the bar bites menu. We ordered the yucas y platanos ($13) and the beef heart anticuchos ($17). Then, we felt like we could still eat a little bit more so we split the ceviche mancora ($26). All the food was fantastic. A few days later, and I'm still thinking about how great those beef hearts were. So flavorful, so tender, and such a fun texture. I was so surprised with how much I enjoyed them. In second place was that ceviche mancora. The sauce had the perfect spice. We asked for between a mild to a medium, and my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Our waiter was extremely patient with explaining every dish, giving us recommendations, and making sure we were comfortable with the spice level. He really spent extra time with us to explain everything and I really appreciated it. Overall I would highly recommend this spot if you're in the area. read more

Chicha is the name of a Peruvian beverage , I picked this restaurant over two other Peruvian ones in town The location is great, walking distance to Capitol Park Nice decor, plenty of seating areas, including an outdoor area with high tables I went for appetizers for diner , ordered the anticucho, taste is great, it just had too many elements over the pieces of meat Ordered salchipapas and it was kind of a let down, only accompanied by ketchup , no Peruvian sauce or even a lettuce garnish My pisco sour was prepared by my nice waitress, it was ok . There were other restaurant workers around the area where I was seated and they just had a not very welcoming attitude. Overall it has potential to be good , you can't go wrong w Peruvian food . read more

This place exceeded my expectations. It was clean and well lit inside and they were playing Peruvian music which enhanced the experience. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was outstanding from start to finish. As a nice bonus, I received a complimentary chicha morada just for checking in through OpenTable--and it was refreshing and flavorful. The lomo saltado was a standout: perfectly cooked with tender, juicy meat and great seasoning. I ordered my ceviche spicy, and it definitely delivered a bold kick while still tasting fresh and vibrant. The yuca fries and plantains were also excellent--crispy, satisfying, and paired perfectly with their dipping sauces. Overall, everything felt thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. I'd definitely come back to explore more of the menu. read more

Some of the best Peruvian food we have had in a minute and the SO said the best ceviche of 2026. We doordashed from our Airbnb and super happy. I got the yucca and plantains minus the tangy sauce to eat along side of leftovers. Delicious and I was happy. The SO got the ceviche experience and it was a lot, enough for two days worth of food for him. Flavorful and he loved all three. We are coming back to eat these in person at the restaurant our next Sacramento trip. Everything was well packaged for the to go order. read more

We had an excellent experience here. We stared with the empanadas appetizer, the provolone cheese was my favorite of the 2 flavors they offered. Then we moved on to the yuca and plantain plate, which was very fresh and flavorful. They come with very tasty dipping sauces. For our entree we tried the chicken pachamanquero and the fettuccine. Both extremely different, but such flavor and vibrant dishes. The pachamanquero had so many different components to it, but everything tasted delicious together. I also really appreciate that all of our dishes came out of the kitchen very hot, literally steaming. The portions are actually rather large here so I think if you get an appetizer, their entrees are definitely shareable. To finish we got a few alfajores. I would definitely return for a special occasion. The restaurant is very modern inside, service was also great and attentive. For the price and quality you get of their food, this place is worth a try if you've been waiting to give them a shot! read more

This review is for the monthly Sunday buffet only. This was my first time trying Peruvian food, and I honestly couldn't have picked a better place to start because their Sunday buffet made it so easy to explore a wide variety of dishes. There was so much to try, from fresh ceviche to hot dishes and even a pasta bar. I loved being able to sample different flavors and build a plate with a little bit of everything. It felt like the perfect introduction to a cuisine I hadn't experienced before. Everything I tried was flavorful and well prepared, and the buffet setup made the experience fun and approachable. If you're curious about Peruvian food or want a great way to try multiple dishes in one visit, the Sunday buffet is absolutely the way to go. I came here on Valentine's Day with my date and overall had a really nice experience. We had made a reservation, but when we arrived they told us there would be about a 15-minute wait unless we wanted to sit at the bar on the patio. It was pretty cold outside, and they let us know the patio heater wasn't working. We decided to sit out there anyway. Luckily I had brought my coat, so it wasn't too bad. It even started sprinkling at one point, and we ended up moving ourselves further under the eave for cover. Despite the weather hiccups, the service really stood out. Our waitress was incredibly kind, attentive, friendly, and personable. She made us feel welcome and taken care of the entire time. The food was very good. I ordered the arroz con mariscos and absolutely enjoyed it. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, and the seafood tasted fresh. Even with the small inconvenience of the patio situation, I would definitely come back and would recommend this place. Great food and wonderful service made it worth it. read more

I'm so glad my friend recommended this restaurant because not only was it my first time having Peruvian food but this was absolutely delicious. The inside of this restaurant is very beautiful and spacious, the staff were very nice and welcoming, and our dinner was great. I ordered the ceviche Máncora and the Maracuyá and was in love. The ceviche was perfectly balanced between the fish, the limey spicy juice, and the sweet potato and corn. The Maracuyá was so good, fruity and sweet. This was an incredible meal, and my friend's as well. They got fettuccine primavera, pollo saltado, and pan con chicharron. For drinks they got Inca kola, chicha morada, and a cocktail (the name escapes me). Everything was great and we were all so satisfied with our choices. I will absolutely be back again, wish it was slightly less expensive. So good! read more

Our family visited Chicha on a Tuesday evening in January to celebrate my partner's birthday, after receiving a recommendation from someone at the Midtown Farmers Market. We're so glad we took their advice--everything from the food to the atmosphere exceeded our expectations. Appetizers Pork Belly Anticuchero - Crispy pork belly bites, anticuchera sauce, chalaquita sarsa, and ají amarillo aioli. Easily a 10/10. The appetizer comes with four pieces, and each bite was incredibly savory and packed with flavor. The pork belly was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. Jalea de Mariscos - Deep-fried calamari, shrimp, and fish with cassava fries, sarza criolla, and tartara sauce. Another standout dish. I loved the variety of seafood, and everything was fried to perfection. The pickled purple onions added the perfect bright, tangy contrast. Entrées Carapulcra - Tender pork belly slow-cooked in a richly flavored stew with dehydrated potatoes, spices, and a hint of peanuts, served with criolla sarza and steamed rice. My partner ordered this and was blown away by the depth of flavor and the tenderness of the pork. The spices were beautifully balanced and made this dish truly memorable. Pollo Saltado - Chicken stir-fried with onions, tomatoes, soy sauce, french fries, jasmine rice, and a fried egg. Two people in our group ordered this and absolutely loved it. They ate it so quickly that I didn't even get a chance to take a photo--it was that good. Mahi-Mahi Costero - Grilled mahi-mahi topped with braised mussels and clams in a warm ají amarillo ceviche sauce, served with steamed rice. This dish was praised for how perfectly the mahi-mahi was cooked--flaky and moist, never dry. The mussels and clams were fresh and flavorful, making the dish feel both comforting and elevated. Fettuccine a la Huancaína con Lomo Saltado - Wok-stir-fried beef tenderloin with onions and tomatoes, served over fettuccine in a creamy huancaína sauce. This was my dish, and it was hands down one of the best meals I've ever had. The beef was tender, flavorful, and not chewy at all. The creamy huancaína sauce paired beautifully with the pasta and vegetables--absolutely delicious. Dessert Crema Volteada (Peruvian-style flan) We ordered this for my partner's birthday, and the staff surprised us with an extra slice of cheesecake to celebrate--a thoughtful and much-appreciated touch. The flan itself was outstanding, easily one of the best we've ever had. The texture and flavor are slightly different from Mexican flan, and I highly recommend not skipping this dessert on your visit. Service & Ambiance Service was a perfect 10/10 from start to finish. Our host was incredibly kind, attentive, and patient, which made the celebration even more special. The restaurant itself is vibrant and beautifully decorated, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that complements the food perfectly. read more

Came here on a whim with a large group they accommodated us as a walk in. Staff was very friendly and the walk in lobby area was very nicely decorated. The waiter let me taste test some juice I've never heard of they said it was blue corn drink, very different in taste. I ordered the paella and it was SO good. It had a little bit of tomato flavor mixed with other spices. There was a good amount of octopus muscles and shrimp I also liked the small chopped veggies inside. wow. this is one of the best meals I've had in sacramento in years. this place is located on 16th street, so there isn't great parking. I had to find a metered spot on the street and walk a bit to get here, but I'm glad I did bc I was very pleasantly surprised with how tasty the food was. I dropped by for a weeknight dinner, and it was pretty slow. The restaurant is fairly spacious, but most of the tables were open. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. DRINK - Chicha morada: I've never had this before. It's non-alcoholic. It's a purple drink made from purple corn, pineapple, cinnamon, & cloves, and it's delicious! definitely give it a try. And, you get a very nice, tall glass of it. - Pisco sour: a finely crafted cocktail. I've had this drink a few times before elsewhere, and it's a good one. It brings the sweetness & tanginess, and while you can definitely taste the alcohol, but it's not overbearing. FOOD - ceviche anconero (white fish LDT, red onions, peruvian corn, sweet potato): a solid ceviche. the peruvian corn was great with it; they were sorta like sweetened corn nuts. there was a nice spice to the marinade. - lomo saltado (wok-fired beef tenderloin, soy, tomato, onion, fries, rice, fried egg): this was amazing. I've had this dish elsewhere, and it's always a winner. the onions and tomatoes were perfectly cooked. the onions were cooked just enough so they retained their crunch without just being raw. I guess my one minor criticism is that I could've used more fries. but.. definitely get this. - black seafood rice (creamy squid ink rice, grilled head-on prawns, mussels, calamari, roasted peppers, aji amarillo butter, cilantro oil, grilled lemon): wow.. another great dish. unlike the lomo saltado, which I've eaten before elsewhere, I wasn't sure what to expect with this one, but it was just as tasty. I really don't think I could pick a definite favorite between the two dishes. the rice is kinda porridge-like and is enrobed in the seafood goodness. The shellfish was nicely cooked & not rubbery. the portion size is pretty big & bc it's a rice dish, it's very filling. this dish (like the lomo saltado) do lean on the salty side, but I do like my salt..... I have had lomo saltado where I've felt it's gotten too salty after eating it a while, but it (and the black seafood rice) didn't get my palate to the point of being over-salted. I will definitely return at some point. And, I'm happy to know that they also have a location out in Roseville as well. read more

This is my first time coming to chicha although I've seen it passing by quite a few times when I'm in the area. I never really thought much about getting Peruvian food until a friend suggested to try it and I'm glad they did! First the restaurant itself has a very nice vibe to it. It can be perfect for friends to just hang out and have a bunch of food or a nice dinner date. Our server made it feel like a fancy restaurant. He was very patient with us and gave us his recommendations on what to try as this was our first time there. I didn't include all the pictures as I got busy devouring the food but here is what we had: Appetizers Yucas and Platanos 5/5 - each of these were cooked perfectly. The platanos were grilled to the perfect caramelization and paired well with their sweet sauce. The yucas was very crispy and provided a nice contrast with the platanos. Would recommend getting this again Vegetarian flatbread 5/5 - loaded with veggies, I was pleasantly surprised on how good this was! They also put on this yellow sauce for an extra bit of tang that was just right! Ceviche mancora 4/5 - this was recommended by our waiter and it was delicious. Usually I'm not a fan of ceviche given how acidic they can be but this was a good balance of acid and savory. The fish and shrimp tasted wonderful alongside the corn and onion in it. Main Lemon Seared Mahi Mahi 3/5 - The fish was cooked perfectly and the sides it came with also tasted good. I would not say this was a spectacular dish as this could be found at any type of restaurant and it did not stand out as much as the appetizers. My friends got the chicken pachamanca and fettuccine huancaina which they enjoyed as well. Desserts Passion fruit and mango cheesecake 5/5 - this was sooo good. I love how soft the cheesecake was and the flavors came with a punch. I loved this so much and will always order this when I come back Cinnamon apple bread pudding with vanilla ice cream 4/5 - if you love bread pudding then you will love this. It warm and delicious. It only gets a 4/5 because next to the cheesecake it was more simple but this is nice to have on a cold night. Overall I will come back here again and will bring more friends along with me to enjoy it! read more

Awesome experience. Came in on a Friday night around 8:45p. It was empty-ish, which was surprising given the level of care from the staff and the overall quality of the food. Pollo panchemanquero (most likely spelling that incorrectly): 4.9/5 - Great portion - Fresh ingredients - Nice and simple presentation Salmon Aldino: 4.8/5 - smaller portion - friend enjoyed it - simple presentation Flan: 4.2/5 - Friend liked it, and was trying to decide the difference between this dis and regular flan - small portion Bread pudding: 4.3/5 - it had ice cream, so, that's nice. - ok portion size - tasted very good Overall, The place is clean, staff are chill and prices are California prices. The fresh, simple ingredients, made this experience. Please check them out. read more

A lovely addition to the Sacramento Midtown area with great food and drinks. We ordered the ceviche trio (which can't be customized), with a side of chips. It was a lot of food for the price, and we didnt get to finish it all so we had it for the next day. I also ordered the lomo saltado, and while I understand it needs to be salty, I felt the salt overpowered the dish. I'd probably order something else next time to expand my options. They do have happy hour prices, which is nice for after work or early dinner outing. We didn't get any, but the sangria was very good and strong so you get your monies worth. read more

Had a really good time here. I think I'll definitely come back when they have the buffet option; we came when it wasn't that, and it sounds like it'd be a good time. We had the ceviche trio sampler, and that was good. I really enjoyed the sweet potato and big chunks of fish especially. I would go again here when in a hankering for Peruvian ceviche. I really liked all three that were part of the trio. We also got it with chips, and those chips were good. They served as a really good contrast with the ceviche. We also got the Lomo soltado and pollo pachamanquero. Both were good, and enjoyable. The Lomo soltado was a bit salty, which wasn't a surprise, but just a note for those who may be sensitive to it. Reading the description, it wasn't a surprise, but a very good show of the Asian immigration that occurred in Peru. I enjoyed the meal, and would like to try the buffet next read more

This is a real gem in midtown Sacramento. Peruvian food is savory and citrusy and includes a unique orange/yellow aji chile that is delicious. First of all start with the low alcohol pisco sour which is the most famous Peruvian export. It's delicious and citrusy with a light foamy top from egg whites. We tried the ceviche which was absolutely divine. Either white fish or tuna you can't go wrong. We loved the root chips to scoop it up. We also ordered the plantains and yucca fries which were delicious but we probably didn't need them since most of the dishes come with some plantains. I love plantains! Our mains of chicken and steak were beautifully plated. Many colors and savory and tangy. A real feast for all the senses. Chicha style refers to an extra sprinkling of a fresh salsa of pickled onions and tomatoes. It brightens everything. This is a lovely dim dining room for the evenings that is both intimate but can also accommodate bigger groups. The service was attentive and I even tried a Peruvian red wine. We will be back. They have a brunch on Sunday's that is a buffet and it allows you to sample all of the stews. That sounds fun or just come in and share a ceviche with a glass of wine for an alternate girl dinner. Flavorful, ample portion, generous with the seafood bits, lovely presentation, and every bite was exquisite. The inside is nice and feels cozy. Street parking wasn't too hard to find. The service we had wasn't the best. 2 of the 4 people ended up splitting a dish, and we were not brought out an extra steak knife or an extra plate. We had to ask for both (separately), and it seemed to take a while to get the knife, while the extra plate was a bread plate instead of a real plate and it was not the best to use for our dish. It seemed like the server was upset that we were splitting something so we were given a tiny plate, while the two splitting were not seated side by side. Both of the people that split do not eat very much due to dietary restrictions and we ended up taking home leftovers, so we ordered enough food for us to eat and were not being 'cheap' but it also could be nothing to read into, so take that with a grain of salt. We got the pesto pasta with shrimp and steak and the pesto was very fresh and good and the pasta was a thick noodle, which I love. I also loved the shrimp! I would come back just for the pesto with shrimp. 3 of us ended up having the steak and all of us got it medium rare and felt like the steak was very chewy and overdone. There was not much flavor and there was plenty of grizzle. None of us liked the steak and we would avoid the steak for the future. We also got the pork belly appetizer bites, which were super yummy, but our favorite was the empanada duo! I would come back just for the empanada duo and the sauce it comes with. I dipped the pork belly in the sauce for the empanadas and it was great. While I would come back, the pricing and service do put me off a bit because I think if we are spending $150+ for four people, they can give us a real plate and steak knife to split an item. I also would see if they would substitute the steak for more shrimp, or get a different dish entirely, but order the same appetizers. read more

I really don't want to bash this place because the atmosphere was great and our waitress was wonderful and very attentive. The platanos and yuca appetizer was very good, the Chicha Morada sangria was delicious, and the birthday cheesecake was appreciated as well. Unfortunately though, my husband and I were both disappointed with the Lomo Saltado. I completely understand restaurants are dealing with rising costs, inflation, etc., but the dish we received had a very small amount of steak compared to the amount of onions. My husband and I jokingly called it the "Onion Saltado" dinner afterward. I wish I had taken photos, but I had accidentally left my phone at home. My honest suggestion would be either: keep the current portion sizes but balance the meat-to-onion ratio a bit better and consider adjusting the price point, or increase the amount of steak and vegetables and charge a little more for it. I truly don't mind paying higher prices for a great dining experience, good service, and a satisfying entrée. I just didn't feel the value matched the $33 price in this case. That said, the restaurant itself had a great vibe and the service was genuinely excellent. read more

I discovered Chica Peruvian Kitchen through the Explore Midtown Pass, and I had high hopes but left feeling let down. When I arrived, I was impressed with how beautiful the inside of the restaurant is; however, the ambiance felt off. There was an obnoxious customer playing guitar and singing so loud in a booth that it was impossible to have a conversation across the table from my partner. I understand hosting live music, but this felt quite disruptive, especially when you can't move away from it. Even though there were only a couple tables seated, service was extremely slow. We had to ask for water several times, and it felt like wait staff were inattentive. Fortunately, our meal came out quickly, but my partner and I had mixed reviews. We ordered the yucas and plantanos fritos, which we both enjoyed. For dinner, I ordered the Mahi-Mahi Costero and he ordered a chicken dish. The Mahi-Mahi was definitely the better of the two, and the warm aji amarillo ceviche sauce was a standout. Overall, the food was decent but the experience itself was less than that. read more

PASSION FRUIT & MANGO CHEESECAKE!!! Let's put a pin in that for a moment.....Sacramento has to be proud of Chicha Peruvian Kitchen (Chicha for short)! Excellent experience all around. From the greeting at the door to the cleanliness of the dining area, the attentive servers to the perfectly plated food.....all ....straight . I had the Fettuccine Huancaina Con Lomo Saltado (pictured)....succulent and creamy. Pollo Saltado; Lomo Saltado and Chicken Pachamanca was also served to our table....absolutely hit the mark on every bite. Heated outdoor patios adds the perfect touch if needed. Our entire table enjoyed everything served! NOW....the cheesecake.....over the top good! Fresh, light, fruit sweetened and layered with passion fruit & mango. Perfect ending to a meal that could have lasted all night. Congrats to the Chef and all the staff...I will return and I encourage EVERYONE to step outside your comfort zone for something you probably don't know about.....Eat & enjoy! read more
