My girlfriend and I were in the Freeport & 12th Ave. area on a Sunday evening, and decided to habe dinner for the first time at Vallarta Prime (VP). We arrived a by 8pm and were sat in the outdoor patio. After looking over the menu we ordered the following: Drinks: Watermelon Margarita Chips & salsa (Complimentary) Main course: Piña Nietos Tacos Surf & Turf Tacos The outdoor patio was nice and mildly quante. Not small but late enough to accommodate a number of assorted table sizes, arrange for large groups, and then bar stools style seating along the border of the patio. Facing outward towards the street and William Land Park. The staff were also really nice. There were bouts of silence from our server and staff, as I think they were routing very busy. Which I took into account when we weren't checked in on for as often for different things. But it did take a while at time ls to get baxes to go after we asked. Food was great. My tacos with being what they were (Piña Nietos Tacos) were messy, so definitely ask why wet wipes if they got them or just wash up after. They definitely were delicious though. Also so was the Watermelon Margarita. I ordered it iced but got it blended, which is fine, and definitely not worth teturning, and it was finished. Lol Overall: Great food, great prices, friendly staff, nice view is dining outside and facing the park. Would definitely come back and check them out again if in the area and looking for a place to eat.

The staff were absolutely wonderful, and the food was delicious, but the handmade corn tortillas were truly out of this world! Fresh, flavorful, and definitely a highlight of the meal. The only thing that felt a little unusual was the atmosphere--the inside has more of a nightclub/club feel, which was a bit unexpected for a Mexican restaurant. Still, the great service and amazing food made for a really enjoyable experience. Definitely worth checking out, especially for those tortillas!

Pleasantly surprised. Didn't know I would have the best ceviche in sac tonight. I didn't really read the description of the ceviche mixta and was surprised to see octopus. Do I like octopus? No. Was I gonna try it anyway? Yes. And I'm glad I did! The ceviche was delicious and fresh- octopus wasn't chewy at all, big shrimp, and everything else was perfectly seasoned. So good that I would order it again and I guess I can now say that I like octopus. We also ordered the quesabirria- bf thought it was ok but I'm not a big fan of them, carnitas plate- loved the handmade tortillas and carnitas were delicious and a fair serving size and overall would also order this again, and a fish taco- once again, didn't read and didn't realize it had a cheese skirt. I would prefer it without the cheese skirt. I liked the idea of bringing out chips and salsa for the table when you order but I wasn't a fan of the chips. Pros: would come back for the ceviche and the carnitas plates and to try other stuff. The decorations are on point- I forgot I was in Sacramento for a bit and felt like I was at a beach club. Cons: we asked for water and they never brought it out and we overheard the table next to us ask for stuff multiple times as well. It would be great and probably easier to have some sort of water access for diners so we could refill our own glasses :)

First time here, the tacos and shrimp ceviche were so good. We sat outside since it was a nice day. The service was good but took a bit to take our order even though it wasn't that busy. You do pay right after you place your order at the table not after you eat which was fine just thought whoever is reading should know. I would go back.

After seeing this place creep up on my IG reels, I decided to give it a try. And boy did it delivers You can taste the love, care and fire in every bite. The ribeye taco did not disappoint and worth the price of attendance alone. The Al pastor was also delicious. Great marinade and flavors. Service was fast. Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu. The World Cu bronze medal patch up was playing. My only complaints is that the margaritas needed real tequilas.

We've been driving by Vallarta Prime for months, watching the progress on the construction, and today's the day that we went to the finished project. There is ample patio seating, and a small dining area inside. The overall ambiance is very comfortable. Our server was attentive and friendly. We both ordered the Mexican Torta with carnitas. Depending on whom you're with, I think that it could be big enough for two. It was tasty, although too salty for me, and just right for my husband. The menu is huge and varied. There's something for everyone there. Try it!

Surf and turf tacos that come with 3. Just okay.

Shoutout to social media for putting this spot on my radar. One post mentioned they had limited indoor seating, and they definitely weren't lying. Give them some grace, especially since they recently opened. They're still working through the logistics of seating guests, taking orders, serving drinks, and refining the customer experience. It felt a little chaotic, but in a good way. They'll find their groove, and I'm already looking forward to coming back to try more of their dinner entrees. Table of 4 came on a Friday around 5:30 p.m. and were able to snag one of the four booths inside pretty quickly. There are only four booths, so I can only imagine how challenging outdoor dining can be without much shade esp with Sac summers. The place was packed, so I definitely felt for some of the other patrons, no shade and had to wait quite a bit for their food. The menu is extensive, with plenty of options to choose from. I decided to make it taco night. Surf & Turf - 6/10 I appreciated that it came with three tacos and plenty of protein, but the flavor was lacking for me. The meat was a bit dry, and while they provide lime and sauces, neither really elevated the dish. Ribeye Taco - 8/10 They're definitely not shy with the protein. The fresh cilantro, onion, and guacamole paired nicely with the ribeye, making each bite flavorful and juicy. Taco Gobernador - 6/10 Another generous portion. I went with the shrimp, which tasted fresh and was cut into bite-sized pieces with a light batter (at least I think it was battered lol). There was a little too much cabbage for my liking, but it added some nice texture and volume. The sauce was solid too. Octopus Taco - 7/10 I'm a sucker for seafood, and this one delivered. My only complaint is that I wanted more filling, but that's probably just me being greedy. Churros - 8/10 These were definitely on the denser, doughier side. Not overly sweet, which I appreciated, but I do wish they offered ice cream or a dipping sauce to take them up a notch. Aguachiles - 10/10 This was my friend's order, so I only got a few bites. Wow. Packed with flavor and freshness. Just be warned--it brings some heat. Raw shrimp, mango, and a punchy marinade. What more do you need? The lime margaritas were refreshing. I had two. Enough said. Biggest disappointment: the chips and salsa. The chips were dry, lightly salted, and tasted a bit stale. The salsas were... questionable. I wasn't a fan of any of them. Maybe that's a good thing, though... you won't fill up on chips before your meal arrives.

Marinated grilled octopus

I am thrilled that I stumbled upon this establishment. I ordered the fried fish taco and the marinated grilled octopus. The fish taco was just okay. There were more ingredients other than the fried fish in the taco. I absolutely love the grilled octopus. It was nicely charred and flavorful. Very tender as well and not overly chewy. I sampled my sister's birria taco and octopus taco. The octopus taco was just okay. I love the birria taco. Will definitely dine in again.

This place converted me to trying more Mexican food in the sac area. It is seafood galore! So far i have tried their Pulpa, ceviche mixto and now the shrimp Verde plate. The corn tortillas came hot and freshly made- for someone who normally prefers flour these were delicious and had a softer texture. I love that there's choices that are not too heavy-my food tasted very fresh and the avocado slices are always creamy with the plates it comes in. I dont normally love Verde sauce either haha but my fiance and I agreed this was the best Verde sauce we've ever had in the meal. It was super flavorful and the shrimps came out piping hot. Service is friendly and really quick to serve you. They are always really busy when we come too so it makes sense they take your order and have you pay beforehand. The layout of the restaurant is quite small so it can get quite full depending on when you come.

Chips and sauces for one.

Yowza! What a great space, service, and food. Newspaper article tipped me off about ribeye street tacos! Sign. Me. Up! So on a hot August night, I stopped in, took a seat on the patio and devoured my custom ribeye tacos. Your girl can't digest onions, so I picked alternate toppings from other items on the menu. "Can do. No problem." Fresh chips and two dipping sauces to start: a spicy red sauce and a mild and flavorful creamy avocado sauce. Patio seating is comfortable and not crowded. 10/10 will return often. Plenty of free parking.

Molcajete
Cesar C.

The molcajete is amazing. So many meats and it was enough to feed 2 people. It was very flavorful and I really liked the tortillas. I also had the ribeye tacos and they were solid. I give the tacos a 9/10 and the molcajete an 11/10. My only complaints are that they charge more if you're paying with credit versus cash and the service wasn't the best. I had to ask multiple times for the same item.

Watermelon margarita
Yesenia B.

Loved the cute cantarito my watermelon margarita came in. It was delicious and the chamoy around the rim was so so good! Had the ribeye tacos 10/10! So juicy and flavorful. Also tried the piña loca and loved it. So so good! Definitely taste the quality of the food here!! Will definitely be back to try other items on the menu!

But onto the food: Asada taco: beef, chewy and tough but substantial Pastor taco + pastor burrito: the best cut of meat. It was hot when I got it and it was very good. Well marinated. Pollo taco: you can probably skip this, the chicken is a little bit plain and dry Vampirio: similar to a tiny quesadilla. The burrito was below average in size, had meat covering less than half of it, and contained no sour cream. The portion and overall preparation were nowhere near what I would expect when paying for a carnitas burrito. But the most concerning part was the salsa. It had an extremely strong chemical taste and smell that reminded me of Fabuloso or mop/cleaning solution. It was so unpleasant that I genuinely questioned whether something had gone wrong with the preparation or whether the salsa had somehow come into contact with cleaning chemicals. I cannot say what caused it, but the taste was absolutely disgusting and raised a serious food-safety concern for me. This is why consistency and proper food-handling procedures matter. A restaurant can have a great meal one day and a terrible one the next, but customers shouldn't have to wonder whether something that tastes like cleaning chemicals is safe to eat. I hope management takes this seriously and looks into the preparation, storage, and handling of the salsa and other ingredients. If a product tastes or smells strongly enough like cleaning chemicals that a customer is questioning whether it may be contaminated, that is something that should be investigated--not dismissed. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend this burrito. Poor portion, poor execution, and a salsa that raised legitimate food-safety concerns. Consistency and cleanliness should be non-negotiable in a restaurant.
