This spot has been pretty popular for awhile and the only downside is the parking is rough. That's probably because the food is top notch and during certain times it is packed. The inside is small so more of a take out spot. The best seller is the asada and adobada. The tacos are packed with meat in handmade tortillas and they have several options with different proteins. They have queso tacos but I usually stick with the classic. I think 3 or 4 minimum if you are hungry. My go-to here are the burritos as they are filled with meat and just the right amount of rice, beans, cheese, salsa, and creama. They have 3 salsas on the side and they are all spicy but in a addicting way. The orange salsa is the best but it's pretty hot. You can also ask for grilled onions and peppers to complete your meal. I was on my way to Taco Bell and suddenly came to my senses. I realized I was actually craving good taqueria-style Mexican food, not Taco Bell. Taco 65 came to mind because I had it on my "need to try" list. I thought it was on Broadway, but it's actually closer to Sac State in a small strip mall. I walked in and there was no line, but people were waiting. The vibe is kind of like a retro burger window setup and reminds me a lot of Tacos 1986, a famous taco spot in LA I've been to. The setup and aesthetic felt really similar. I ordered a carne asada burrito and one queso taco with adobada, plus salsa verde, roja, and their orange sauce at no extra charge. It got super busy right after I ordered, but I only waited about 15 minutes, which I didn't mind. I got home and everything was packaged well. The taco came with a side of grilled onions, radish, and lime, which was a nice touch. I started with the taco and it was delicious. The smell of fresh nixtamal from the tortillas wafted up with each bite. The taste and texture of cheese grilled onto the tortilla was also amazing. The adobada had a nice meaty bite but was still tender and not overly fatty, with a really punchy marinade. So good, genuinely one of the best tacos I've ever had. Each salsa I tried with it was amazing too, honestly some of the best salsas I've had, and it again reminded me of the iconic salsa bar at Tacos 1986. I was hyped to try the burrito after that taco and was honestly let down. It was a big, girthy burrito loaded with beans, rice, meat, lettuce, and crema. What I found was that it was very dry. Of course you have to add salsa, but you expect the burrito to be somewhat moist from the crema and beans, and it just wasn't. The carne asada was the main culprit. It was overcooked and had very little fat, which made it dry. It also felt underseasoned and likely not marinated. It reminded me of the carne picada you can get at Walmart. When that's cooked right it can be good, but this was just dry and not nearly as flavorful as the adobada. The salsas helped a lot because they were so good, especially the smoky orange sauce. The salsa verde was fresh and the salsa roja was actually pretty spicy, but all of them were really deliciouses. I'd come back and would even order the burrito again, but I'd steer clear of the carne asada, which is a shame because the ceiling for carne asada is so high. Saw a viral video on Instagram stating this place has the best burrito in Sac so I had to test it out myself! So happy to see they had mushrooms as vegetarian protein option for their burritos and tacos! I ordered their mushroom burrito and it was hefty!! It came with fajitas and sauces on the side that were delicious!! Unfortunately, my burrito was way too salty. I'm not sure if it was just a one off situation or if they typically season their mushrooms this way but I could barely take more than a couple bites and had to order a drink on the side because of the saltiness. Honestly, this is super solid Taqueria. Coming from Chicago (Pilsen area), access to great tacos has been missed but, also honestly, has not been sought after on my end. Counter service. Pretty straight forward menu. It's a small space with minimal seating. At that, the seating is all counter top at the windows. Tacos are pictured here, but I've had the entire menu. It's overall very good. I think this was once a 5/5, but it's a overall 4/5 now for me. I would say the tacos are the best items here and specifically the carne asada. The burrito size has gotten smaller in my opinion and it's been on the saltier end for me as of late. I'm usually an al pastor girlie, but the steak is supreme here IMO. It has flavor and is tender. Add some of the orange sauce to that --- chef's kiss. Always ask for more orange sauce. The pork came off a little chewy to me and it didn't have too much flavor. I had a bite of some chicken there, and I would rather do that, and I'm not a chicken person at these places. I just want to comment on the quesadilla. It's massive and full of meat. It begs the question of whether this is a quesadilla anymore. Probably my second favorite item on the menu. In recent months, I've become less of a take out and doordash person, and like to eat my meals at the spot. when I go on my runs, sometimes I run past this taco place.these were brought in for a work celebration, and I was pleasantly surprised. It tasted like tacos from a taco truck. It really hit the spot. I love a street taco. They stuffed the tacos full of meat, and I appreciate it that they had cilantro, radish, onions, and limes on the side. Let me was super flavorful. I also thought it was very impressive that even though the tacos have been sitting there for a little while, they didn't disintegrate when you ate them. The tortillas stayed intact. So in an ongoing effort to find the best burrito anywhere and everywhere I go,my travels finally landed me at Tacos 65 located in Sacramento near Broadway and 64th.I heard amazing things about this place,so to say I was excited to try their food would be an understatement. Once inside I felt like I was elbows to elbows with every customer in there.I will preface that statement by saying this shop is truly tiny,this is not a fully developed restaurant,there are no tables,a few counter tops u can sit on but this place was not built for comfort or lounging around,this was by definition a place where u call in your order or place your order upon arrival and take your food to go-in and out as fast as possible/no lingering. The menu was located on the wall is a highly visible display and its offering though classic were very limited and focused.That evening we decided to go with a Carne Asada Burrito($13.50) with rice on the side and inside the burrito was refried beans,sour cream,cheese,onions and cilantro.We also went with the 3 taco plate ($15.75) which came with 3 tacos,choice of meat and a small serving of rice and refried beans.For meat choices on tacos we went with 2 carne asada and one Al Pastor. Great tacos with solid food and service. The food was good, very solid but not the best ever. The tacos were decent but I liked the burrito better. I'd suggest getting it without rice since it's already so heavy and has a lot of cheese in it. Loved how well toasted it was. The orange spicy salsa is excellent, hot but nothing crazy. Didn't like the salsa roja as much and the salsa verde was decent. They have protein options for carne asada, chicken, pork, mushroom, and chorizo. My preference was carne asada, pork, then chicken. The restaurant is quite small with a few tables. Staff was very helpful and friendly, offering their three salsas and confirming the order. If you know me, you all know that I have reviewed an insane amount of Mexican restaurants/taquerias over the years. Which takes me to the Tahoe Park neighborhood where I finally got the opportunity trying out "Tacos 65", an insanely popular place that has been around since late-2023. Located directly at the corner of Broadway and 65th St., Tacos 65 is just south of Highway 50 in the heart of Sacramento. One thing that really enticed me to check this place out was that their food is more along the lines of using a smoky flavor; much like what you'd come across in Los Angeles and way more notable in San Diego. To bring these unique flavors to Sacramento really made me want to try this place out. The parking (which has about 20 dedicated spots) can be quite difficult to find simply because there are several other neighboring businesses including a Thai restaurant, a dry cleaners, a bakery, and more. Fortunately when I came here with my lady (which was during the afternoon on Saturday 1/24/2026) at around 4:40pm, there was one open spot available. As for the inside of the business, it is tiny and only has seating for about 8 customers max. I also wanted to add that there is no exterior seating, however they do have a outdoor mesquite grill which is used for cooking all the meats. My recommendation is to plan on taking your food to-go or drive to nearby "Mae Fong Park - 乒乓球" if you want your food to be piping hot. The menu itself is very simple as they focus on tacos, mulitas, burritos, and quesadillas. Proteins consist of Asada (steak), Pollo (chicken), Adobada (grilled pork), Chorizo (pork sausage), and Champiñón (mushroom). They also sell sides of refried beans and rice by itself or a Plato. Finally, they carry several drinks; Jarritos, Topo Chico, and sodas but no beer or alcohol of any kind. After narrowing down the menu, I went with (1) Asada taco and (1) Adobada taco while my lady went with their Asada burrito. Even during the busy late-lunch/dinner rush, both our items arrived in less than 10 minutes. As for the overall taste, texture, flavor, and experience, I will say that this place was a grand slam home run for me. My tacos were reminiscent of the hole-in-the-wall spots I've been to in Los Angeles while being absolutely packed with flavor. The spices and smokiness might deter some people from eating here but this place hit all the high notes for me. I also tried a few bites of her burrito and OMG, this seriously was delicious. I will say that with the service, short wait times, quality of food, and overall vibe that "Tacos 65" offered, it hit all the high notes for me. My rating, a unanimous five stars. read more

Best quesadilla in Sacramento for me. This place is starting to get more and more busier and I love that for them. You have to get extra orange sauce because that's the best part! I also get extra grilled onions as well. Everything is fresh and made to order. Burrito and tacos is also great as well! I highly recommend anything with carne asada meat or adobada. Truly an excellent burrito. We were so impressed with the quality of the food and simplicity of the menu. We should have ordered the pork as recommended on Reddit. However, the chicken and carne asada were both delicious. The orange sauce is very spicy, but in moderation, adds the perfect kick! I loved that the restaurant also provide some grilled onions and peppers and fresh radishes on the side. Great side options. Unfortunately, no fresh drinks like horchata or Jamaica but you can order a variety of bottled drinks and Jarritos! The staff work hard here. The owner/manager was working right alongside his staff. Food was super good! The burrito is such a good bang for your buck, and they do NOT skimp out of the meat. The store was pretty small, nice simple and clean tho! The menu is pretty simple, so you know the food is gonna be quality! They let you choose your salsas once you order, I really liked both the orange and the green sauce! I liked the taste of the beans and the texture ( got them on the side to not overpower the burrito). I also liked how the tacos come with guac! The burrito I think is the star of the show. It's so big and has a good melody of rice, onion sour cream and meat. I was able to try the Adobada and the carne asada. These tacos were superior!!!!! I got the 2 asada tacos and 1 adobada and it was soooo good. The parking lot sucks but lucky for me I got a spot right in the front! I ordered on the phone and then paid when I got there. The service was great from the time I ordered over the phone all the way when I picked up my order. The tortillas were definitely hand made it comes with a dallop of guacamole and a side of grilled Onions and Serrano peppers. My suggestion is definitely get the orange sauce! It has a smoky chipotle flavor and a spicy kick!!!!!! So good I thought about going back and getting a couple more... the ONLY reason I didn't is because I'm trying to unbig my back. Haven't been here in a while but it's still just as good as I remember. The best is the Adobada Tacos and Adobada Burritos. We tried their Sangria in a bottle, and it was ok for me. My husband liked it. We tried their Sangria Pollo Asado Tacos this time, and I'd have to pass on that. The chicken was a bit too dry in my opinion. Parking is always the worst here, but the Adobada Tacos and Burritos are worth it. The parking here is SUCH a hassle, but the food makes it worth it. This spot is located on the corner of 65th and Broadway, and I've always noticed them bringing out the grill every morning when I left for school at Sac State, but never thought to check them out until now. Coming here after a video of their carne asada burritos went viral was a very bad idea because as if the parking lot wasn't already so full on a normal day, it was even more packed when I visited. There were cars parked behind each other in a way that some couldn't back out to get out of the lot. I, however, decided to not stress myself out and parked in the neighborhood across the street and walked. This was the easiest solution. Walking in, the space was packed-- and I hear it's often like that, so I knew this place had to be worth trying. The inside is very small. There's a counter space for ordering and a space for picking up. The waiting area/seating space is so small, that you'll most likely be standing in front of someone like people do in trains and busses when there are no seats left, lol. When it gets busy like this, there's always an employee that warns you about the wait time (I usually get estimated 20-30 minutes), but it's always 10-15 minutes before my order is being called out. Anyways, THE FOOD! So, so good. I came here for the carne asada burrito in particular because I hear that's what they're known for. It was so good and very filling. Let Me Tell You by just saying order the burrito and you will be impressed just like me for the first time experience. . I was going to order tacos or burrito and I could not choose but then I kept on looking on the menu board and I was like staring at the word Crema and I finally went with a carne asada burrito. . I love the carne asada for not being salty and it was done well also it had a grill flavor that I love and it was nice and temperature hot. Also the rice has a great fluffy texture as well do love the beans it wasn't too much and proportion well. Overall it was a really solid burrito and usually I do not finish a whole burrito but it was so good that I ate all of it in one setting. . They have from mile to very hot salsa that you can choose from. Of course I chose the most spicy one which is the habanero one and let me tell you it had flavor and it wasn't just only burning spicy. I also like their green salsa which was very good and it gave the carne asada extra flavor. I also tried their medium spicy red salsa and that was great too and it has a really great kick spicy heat to it. If you are unsure which salsa is your favorite just asked to try each one and they are very nice with letting you figure out which one you like. . Overall if you are coming here make sure you order ahead of time because the wait could be 20 mins or longer. They are very busy with lots of walking and lots of doordash orders which does get very overwhelming for them and it takes a little bit extra time to get all the orders done. If you order it for here they do make it a little bit quicker than if you say to go just a tip for you. The parking is limited but it is worth all the hassle and wait for a good burrito if you're looking for one of the best ones in town. Adobada: A Amazing flavor on this pork, it was seasoned well and was tender and chopped up nicely. I would say this is one of my favorites I've had in sac. Chorizo: A- Also super tasty, but the chorizo was definitely on the salty side if you're sensitive to it. Carne asada: B- This one was just okay, I usually feel like carne asada is not the best compared to the marinated meats in terms of flavor. The beef is tender and easy to eat though. I get it--they're busy-- but still, that's too long for a place that's intended for grab n go. From what I observed, It's the DoorDash and phone call orders that are clogging up the line. While in the area last night, my family and I were craving Mexican food for dinner. I checked Yelp and Tacos 65 popped up with high ratings so we had to check them out. Tacos 65 has a limited menu which to me says that they do a great job with what they are good at - we ordered a Chicken Queso Taco, a Adobada Mulita, a Carnitas Burrito and a Quesadilla with a side of rice and beans. The best item was the Carnitas Burrito which had good flavor and a good ratio of ingredients. The chicken on the Queso Taco was a bit dry for my liking and I wasn't a huge fan of the Mulita - my husband actually makes them better at home by adding a cheese skirt on top of the tortillas. My daughter devoured her Quesadilla and rice and beans though and I also liked that they offered 4 different types of salsas, but their green salsa was not traditional which was a bummer because it's my favorite - I enjoyed the red and orange salsas much more. The inside is very small with only a few bar tables and chairs. We got lucky and were able to find a spot to eat at , but the only problem with sitting inside is that there were a ton of flies...both inside and out. They kept landing on us while we were trying to eat. I did notice that they had one of those door fans that blow air out when you open the door to keep bugs out, but it must have been broken. The flies definitely ruined the vibe and made for an annoying experience. Overall, staff that took our order were friendly, but I wasn't blown away by the food. Maybe we ordered the wrong items since other ratings and reviews say otherwise. Not sure if we'll be back - there are other taco places that we enjoy much better unfortunately. Food is worth the wait and crowd. Call ahead and take your time getting there - placed gets busy! Burrito is hefty and delicious. Good blend of rice, protein and the fixings. You could go at it without salsa but recommend getting the habanero Small shop. So unless you're in there right as they open and don't mind people standing close to you... get it to go. I was traveling and stopped in here for lunch. This operation was doing lots of things right. They were operating with a small kitchen and had somebody outside cooking the meat with a mesquite grill. This allowed them to have the mesquite flavor without any compromise. I had a burrito and it was delicious, and the ingredients were mixed together in the burrito well. I had a little bit of everything in every bite. If I'm ever passing through Sacramento I will stop here again, it was right off the highway. I highly recommend ordering in advance. Parking sucks and it's a pain to get to this spot. Not to mention there is always a wait. The staff works hard and you can see it on their faces when you walk in. I got the carne asada burrito. It was slightly above average. The mushroom burrito was also good. Had been hearing hype about Tacos 65, so I finally went to check it out. Gotta say, it was solid but didn't quite live up to all the hype. The carne asada taco was okay--decently tender--but honestly pretty bland and lacking flavor. The adobada, on the other hand, was on another level: juicier, way more flavorful, and the pineapple pieces were a nice touch that you don't see from other taquerias. I appreciated the extras they throw on--grilled onions, serrano peppers, radishes, and limes. They also have 4 different salsas, each crafted with its own spice level. The service was friendly and the staff was incredibly efficient. My food arrived faster than expected considering it was a busy night. Overall, the tacos were good and I'd come back if I'm in the area. Would love to see homemade tortillas instead of the standard ones and a bigger menu with more options to choose from. First time coming here after seeing it trending online. The food was really good. Probably one of the better carne asada burritos I've had. It can take a while to get your food though since they're pretty busy and parking is very limited. The burrito was decently priced at $13.50 but the quesa taco was not worth nearly $5 each since they were tiny. It's primarily a takeout place so there's only a few standing tables with stools. My husband got the pork, chicken, and beef tacos from here. They were good. In terms of flavor, the pork was the better one. They have a few selection of sauces. They're 50 cents each if you want extra sauce. The orange one is the best. My husband also got the burrito. That was good too, but I would prefer there to be pico and guacamole in it.
