    Amazing Chicken Nachos

Great place for a date night or for the whole family. Their food and drinks are the best in town and their service is fast and friendly. Still one of our favorite restaurants downtown. Now with an added bonus: they're directly across the street from Woof Gang, a top-notch dog grooming boutique. So we drop off the pup at Woof Gang, walk across the street and enjoy dinner, and voila, our pup is ready. Perfect timing!

I was in town for training and checked this restaurant out with colleagues because someone local in the group recommended it. I am from New Mexico, so I tend to avoid Mexican food when I travel since it is rarely as good as back home. This was an exception and definitely worth it. I had the chile rellano and taco plate and it was very good. Glad I checked it out.

Tres Hermanas has been a long-time favorite for us. It's one of those neighborhood restaurants that feels established and comfortable the minute you walk in. The interior is colorful and lively with bright walls, artwork, Día de los Muertos accents, hanging lanterns, and a bar that feels like the center of the action. It has personality and history, not a polished chain feel. We've had many dishes here over the years, and the mole entrées have always stood out. They do rich, layered sauces really well. On this visit we kept it simple with tacos, guacamole, chips, and salsa. The guacamole was fresh and well balanced, and the salsa had just the right amount of kick. I ordered the soup and salad combo. The chicken and rice soup was savory and comforting. It's not fancy, just well made. Their house dressing, a creamy cilantro dressing, is still one of my favorites and honestly one of the reasons I'll order the salad every time. Service was helpful, friendly, and prompt. Everything came out in a reasonable amount of time, and the staff checked in without hovering. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal here. It's consistent, welcoming, and reliable. That kind of dependability is worth a lot. Four stars from me and still one of my go-to spots for Northern Mexican food in Sacramento.

    Tasha's Quesadilla

Went to dinner here with 3 friends. There was a 30 min wait on a Sunday evening. Not bad. We didn't have to wait long to put in our drink order but my drink never came so I asked server which she then brought out shortly after. I ordered Tasha's Quesadilla. Half a quesadilla filled with chicken and a few other items with a side of rice, beans, sour cream and guac -- $20. Felt a bit over priced for the portion size. The taste was OK -- nothing exciting. Ambiance is OK as well. Tried it, but wouldn't go back.

I'm sure at some point I've reviewed this great restaurant but today I tried for the first time their deep fried ice cream and it was sooooo goood I had to do a review just for that item. The lightly batter exterior contains yummy strawberry ice cream with strawberry topper and just the right amount of whip cream. This all come situated on a think shell that is great with the whip cream.

    Side quesadilla $15 & side relleno $9

Came on a Tuesday for lunch & it was crowded but got seated quickly. Complimentary chips and delicious salsa. 3/5 chile relleno. Small portion, lots of breading, minimal cheese and pepper. For $9 it felt overpriced. 3.5/5 asada quesadilla for $15. Small flour tortilla. Asada flavor was good but the meat and cheese wasn't particularly plentiful. Included sour cream and salsa which I appreciated. 4/5 service was good. I've been lucky to have great servers as of late. Overall I was a bit disappointed in the food at this price point. I've been eating a lot of local Mexican food lately and this is usually a solid choice. I'll likely stick to the taquerias in my area for a bit unless it's a special occasion request.

I am very much so impressed by Tres Hermanas! The food was absolutely delicious and flavorful and everything I want in a Mexican restaurant. The salsa had decent spice to it, and was so so good I kept coming back for more. The carnitas plate was so tasty, and the veggie enchiladas were one of the best vegetarian enchiladas my mom has had. Will for sure be coming back next time I'm in Sac!

Wow such a cool little neighborhood eatery! I was bummed we were working as it precluded the exciting stuff at the bar. The staff was friendly and on point. Sadly we were somewhat limited having to eat this int he back of a moving rig so burrito it was. The large burrito was perfect. The chicken was nicely chunked and well seasoned, all of the ingredients were fresh and in perfect portion to each other. Tightly wrapped it maintained structural integrity to the last bite which was essential in a moving vehicle. The beans were well cooked and seasoned (not the usual Spackle other places serve) The chips were hot, perfectly fried and just the right amount of salt, and the salsa was perfect. Super fun vibe inside and we were sad we did not have the time to sit down.

I have come here a few times with my gf. The food is so rich in flavor in every bite. The customer service was great. Everyone is so kind. The price for food is not bad given the current state of the economy and cost of groceries. The taco salad with asada is 5 stars. Nice crispy shell filled with tender, juicy asada. Along with crispy Romain lettuce, flavor rich rice, beans, salsa, and fresh sour cream and guacamole. Their burrito de asada, cheese enchiladas, rice and beans are all great as well. Some great flavors. This has been my top Mexican spot when I am in the area.

Wow. This place took me back home - to Philly. It's unassuming from the outside, but as soon as I walked in to the bar area I was taken back to the grittiness of Philly. This place is grimy in a good way - like a south Philly Mexican joint. No frills. The spicy margarita - hands down the best I've ever had. It had a strong kick both on the spice level and the tequila flavor. Chicken quesadilla and steak fajita - pretty standard. Solid. Chips and salsa - best salsa I've had. It was spicy and I kept going for more. I even asked for more and they brought out more chips and salsa. I would definitely recommend this place. 10/10.

It's been a while since I've been here. They changed their spanish rice for the better. Got rid of the corn in there. Ordered the Al pastor verde enchiladas and they were delicious. The chips and salsa were also great. The jalapeño margaritas are amazing also.

Came here for Brunch on a Sunday. While was decently busy still got seated right away outside. Server was really nice, she got us ordered, fed and out just like we liked. Food was delicious, love their salsa. My only complaint which isnt really a complaint is that it's funny going to a Mexican restaurant and not get any Spanish music. While fine, just throws off the vibe a bit. Other than that, enjoyed this place and would come back if in area

I usually dont say this but WOW!.. I was impressed, loved the exterior of the building, and the inside wont disappoint you. The Decor is very cool and full of life, and color. The food was AMAZING, I ordered a SUPER chicken Burrito, it came with rice and beans. The meat was so tender, and marinated in a sauce, was sooo good.. I also ordered a Margarita Tropical, peach... Was Very good, just wish the glass was bigger.. lol. My wife had a Quesada , came with rice beans and guacamole. Looked amazing as well.. I am sure everything is good here, all the food we saw looked so good, was hard to order in one hand.. ;-) Service was great, we sat after waiting just a few mins, place was pretty busy. Waiter was great, took our drink order pretty fast, then came back for our food order. All I can say is this place is a MUST GO AND EAT! If you like Mexican food, with alot of flavor, then look no more, or at least try it out, you wont be disappointed.

Will you be open Thanksgiving Day?

Has anyone noticed if they are still charging a separate tax besides sales tax, for the clean up of the street? Or maybe a COVID tax?

    Do you need reservations?

    They do not do reservations.

Does Tres Hermanas cater for a party of 30?

We can make the food but we don’t go & serve it please call the restaurant & talk to blanca thank you !!

Is this a good spot for a date?

If it's a first date, probably not. It gets busy inside. The patio is nice, but you might be forgotten by the servers.

Do they take phone orders .. often I call phone is disconnected ? Big inconvenience for those who don't live in midtown.

Yes, but they are so busy it's easier to order online and pick up.

I have called 6 times now, someone picks up and then hangs up, is this normal or what. I'm trying to ask a question about reservations?

Are you open for pick-up? I'm used to eating the enchiladas every week and having major withdrawals. Is it possible to place an order?

Look at their website, and you will see that they are open for take out. Give them a call, if you want more information.

    Do they cater?

We can do the food, deliver for charge deliver but we don’t go & serve it if you have more question call the restaurant & speak with Anthony

Yes, I have seen dogs out there-

Let's just say it make sense why the lot is full. The service was beyond reproach. Our server was attentive and detail oriented and never felt us feeling ignored. I couldn't see the bottom of the complimentary chips and salsa and the food came out hot and delicious. The three meat molcajete with traditional salsa verde (a family recipe according to the menu), pinto beans, radish, freshly roasted jalapeño, green onions, and sautéed cactus. Topped with Monterey Jack, Cotija, and Panela cheese was the star of the show. You assemble everything in a nice flour tortilla and you are in for a delectable and savory treat. The portion sizes are generous and the price point given the amount of food is also very attractive. We shared the molcajete and had plenty leftover for lunch the next day. I always wondered why the parking lot was so full but I longer have to wonder and I'll be contributing to the busy traffic in the parking lot because I'll be back for another round of molcajete.

We totally forgot with everything we have going on that day that it was dine downtown. The menu looked good, but I was already set on getting pozole so we didn't order off the dine downtown menu. Plus, we've also been here plenty of times and love it already. We were really bummed to find out that you get charged for chips and salsa and they don't come out automatically without asking and it also the charge is dependent on how many people are in your party. Also, when the chips came out, there was only one salsa, which hasn't usually been the case. We're not sure if this was just some modifications because of dine downtown happening, but it was a bummer. We ordered the taquitos for an appetizer and those were OK..nothing special. I ordered the pozole verde with chicken, which is my favorite! And my best friend ordered the Carnitas plate. My posole was really good. It came with the side of the status and all the toppings. However, the Carnitas lacked flavor and were a bit dry. Neither of us would probably order that again. We also ordered a couple of blended mockaritas, one strawberry and one mango and both were tasty, but the strawberry would definitely needed another blend as there were a big chunks of ice. I think that because of the craziness with dine downtown..service and food quality we're a bit lacking, but I will always come back to Mayahuel for the pozole verde !

I visited this past Saturday and it was quite busy inside like it always is. The restaurant is large enough to fit a lot of people, so finding a seat isn't an issue. To order, you line up in front of the register and wait until they call you. Once it was my turn, I ordered a Super Burrito with Al Pastor, which is my favorite protein choice there. Usually I order 2 tacos with my burrito but I was saving room for Korean bbq that day! The Super Burrito comes with your choice of meat, rice, beans, salsa, sour cream, guacamole, and cheese. I also ordered a medium pineapple agua fresca, which paired perfectly with my burrito. After ordering, you're handed a number to take to your table so the servers know where to bring your food. As I'm waiting for my food, I helped myself to the self-serve chip bar. The chip bar is my favorite thing about the restaurant besides the food and quick service. I always get loads of both the white and red pickled onions, and some salsa to go with my chips. They offer many sides to choose from so that anyone can customize their meal to their liking. The pickled onions have the perfect level spice and acidity to them which helps with cutting down the greasiness you may get from a burrito. I also like to snack on them for fun too! The food comes out extremely quickly. When I finished placing my order and brought my number to my table, I went to the self-serve bar right after to get some chips. Not even 2-3 minutes later, I came back to my table with my burrito already there! The burrito was absolutely delicious and piping hot. It's the perfect size for me and eating it with the pineapple agua fresca and some chips makes it a perfect meal! Coming to La Favorita Taqueria is always a treat and I appreciate the quick customer service, self-serve bar, and delicious food!
