Came here before class started for a nice bowl of albondigas because it was just the weather for it. Can only speak for the albondigas, I haven't tried the rest of the food yet. Albondigas was a hearty rustic soup that hit the spot for me. Flavors were there and a good serving size for the bowl. Did wish the meatballs were a little less dried. My family and I checked out 3 Hermanas for lunch today - it was my first time. I was excited to check them out as I am a big fan of Tres Hermanas! We arrived a few minutes after they opened and were greeted and seated immediately. The inside was super clean and I loved the wall decorations and Mexican portraits all over - the murals were beautiful as well. We ordered the Kids Quesadilla with came with rice and beans, a Chile Verde Burrito and the Fish Tacos. To be honest, I thought the rice and fish were bland, but adding salsa to both helped. The Fish Tacos tasted pretty fresh and I liked the crispy pieces, but again, they could have used more salt. My husband also said that the Chile Verde Burrito was just okay. My daughter had 2 servings of their refried beans and enjoyed her Quesadilla. Overall, the food wasn't the greatest, but I would still come back and order something else. We were warmly welcomed with a party of 7 that included several young kids. The menu offers many delicious classics in tacos, enchiladas, burritos and plates. The kids' menu offers similar fare in smaller portions. The decor of the restaurant is vibrant and features many works by local artists. In fact, we visited in order to see the work displayed of a collective of mosaic artists. There is also a patio that seats several guests, screened from the road by lush plants. Had an amazing dinner with the family here. The service was top notch, sitting in the patio was really nice and all the plants provide some privacy on a busy street. The albóndigas soup was hitting the spot. Broth was really hearty and the meatballs were so good. That's something we have door dashed in the past from here so having it fresh was nice. The first two round of chips and salsa here are complimentary. The chips are airy and light while the salsa is chunky and pretty spicy so go light if you can't handle the heat! I went with the carnitas plate. The meat super juicy and flavorful. I really enjoyed it. I chose flour tortillas over corn. Guac and pic came on the plate so I made little burritos with the tortillas lol. Rice and beans were great too, always an important factor for judging any Mexican restaurant and they passed the test with flying colors! It was just OK but as not good, Tres Hermanas, I prefer white chicken meat in my tacos. they used the dark chicken meat. Enchilada was a little dry so my daughter asked for extra enchilada sauce and when a bill came, they charge us three dollars for extra sauce. So we got charged three extra dollars because they did not put enough sauce on our enchiladas that was unacceptable to me. I will not go eat there again. read more

The service was good and no wait on a Friday night, however sometimes it's worth the wait. The chips and salsa are just okay. Lack flavor. I ordered the flauta plate with rice and beans and overall it was very bland. There was also potatoes added to the guacamole and flautas and they were undercooked which I was not a fan of at all. We were seated inside, which was comfortably cool compared with the patio on this warm summer evening. Service was very cordial. The ambiance seemed a little on the noisy side for easy conversation, but our table was right under the ceiling loudspeaker, so I'm sure things were better at most other tables. I must admit my first impression wasn't the best. Parking in the front of this restaurant is very limited so I had to park on the street. Parallel parking is a bit of a challenge for me (understatement) but I managed after driving around and around the surrounding neighborhood in search of a spot. Then I saw that there was a good-sized parking lot behind the building with two hour parking. Ah well... I needed the exercise. As I went to the front, my first view of the patio gave me cause to pause as it looked a bit weather worn; as I got closer, though, the smiling faces in the cozy space with green plants hanging about casually made me smile. Once I got inside and looked at the menu for a dish a friend had suggested I try. Then I discovered I was in the wrong restaurant! lol. Yes, 3 Hermanas is different than Tres Hermanas. Anyone ELSE get confused by this?! A friend suggested TRES Hermanas and I went to THREE Hermanas instead. lol. . It had all of the things I usually enjoy. Good food, friendly folks, efficient service and a comfortable ambiance. I had the fish tacos - two grilled tilapia tacos with rice and black beans. Muy bueno! lol. (That's what two years of Spanish gave me...) it Came with a basket of tortilla chips (light, crisp and just salty enough) and house made salsa. I asked for hot sauce and they brought me a wee bowl -- not bottle -- that looked like it was also house made and gave me a warning that it was a bit spicy. Ah... I was a happy diner. As I ate and enjoyed all of the colorful art around me, I heard a couple next to me moaning. I hesitated, but I HAD to look. They were huddled over a large platter obviously enjoying themselves. I think it was shrimp.... Didn't wanna stare. I enjoyed my food QUIETLY and watched a server go back and forth between the kitchen and the front patio while also helping folks inside. Exhausting -- but that guy really kept it together with a smile, despite a few challenging diners. WHY are some people so nasty to food servers?! (I feel a bit better with my mini rant but SERIOUSLY -- BE Nice). Anyways.... Both servers were really hustling. Bless those in service industries! AS I ate and watched the view of the front patio, I must say folks out there looked like they were really enjoying the sun and fresh air. So... my mistake turned out just fine. Just door-dashed the chicken mole and the spicy verde enchiladas. The mole sauce spilt throughout the bag, but that's more of a packaging issue. The taste was good, rice and beans were also great. Although the tortillas they gave me were ripped. My girlfriend kind of ate around her enchiladas a bit, but I'm sure they were at least alright. Three Hermanas is a cute little spot in East Sacramento, with a cozy and colorful vibe inside (a sweet mural and lots of art on the walls) and a little patio out front with lots of plants. There is just a little parking out front, but a big lot around back. The free chips were light, with just the right amount of salt, and accompanied by tasty red salsa with a nice zing. My biggest gripe with Tres Hermanas is the inconsistency. I've been here at times when the food was incredibly tasty. But I've also had poor experiences with food that is dry and unseasoned. My most recent encounter was disappointing to say the least- extremely slow service. We waited an hour for extremely simple taco plate orders. You can tell they're understaffed, so I don't put that on the servers or cooks whatsoever. I put that on the owners of Tres, who need to stop being cheap and should hire more staff. Ambiance is cool though! I do like the setup inside with colors and artwork. It's a shame that recent issues and inconsistency have damaged this restaurant. There is untapped potential at this place... step your game up, Tres! read more

Today's customer service was the worst I've ever experienced. I have been coming to this restaurant at the very least 47 times as Google maps has counted, but it's probably double that. I love the lunch here and the thing I've ordered about 98% of the time is the chili renello plate with the green sauce, no rice, all refried beans as a side. I sit down in the same seat everytime, have my headphones, and watch videos or listen to my music while I eat and I do this like two and sometimes 3 times a week. The same thing basically happens, she asks if I need a menu, I say no, I'll take the renello. She usually confirms no rice right..in which I confirm. I've never had a problem. Sometimes I order the carnitas.. extremely fantastic also. But the customer service I received today was atrocious. The chili renello came with the red sauce. It has never came to me with red sauce and I've never once ordered the red sauce. I did ask about it and asked for the green sauce, she came and got the plate and brought it back with the green sauce poured over the red sauce. I pointed out they just poured the green over the red and I didn't like the red. I asked for the dish to be remade and to just be the green sauce. I did say to her that I'm not sure what happened, it's always the green sauce. She says I didn't say I wanted green sauce, but ok, fine, she's right, I didn't say I wanted green sauce . I haven't asked for green sauce in months because she knows that's how I wanted it. So, she takes plate for the second time and I sit and wait for another 10-15 minutes and the plate comes back again with green sauce poured over the red. I did take a bite or two to see if I can just deal, remind I love this place. But I cannot do the red sauce. By this time, it's time I go to work and I cannot wait any longer. So I ask to speak to her and I really wanted to tell her I understand things happen but I wasn't paying for the plate and I'd try again tomorrow or maybe Thursday. But, before I could finish what I started to say as I was explaining this had red sauce again, she turned to me, told me she wasn't going to make it again, and told me to just go turned her back still mildly yelling at me that's she not making it. She then turned to me again and said Just go. We aren't making the plate again. I then walked out. Be aware, we are just a number and my number is well over a thousand dollars in lunches I have paid for and It still didn't matter when I needed customer service. I will not be spending another dime here, and I'm really sad. They do have great food. read more

The best Mexican food in Sacramento. Food is as good (if not better) than Tres Hermanas on K St., but the service is 200% better. The owner, Dora, is very hands on and keeps the quality consistent. Mistakenly assumed 3 Hermanas was another location for Tres Hermanas. Was deeply disappointed with the quality of food. Stale chips and a salsa that tasted a bit old. Even the lemon for my drink was past its shelf life. Ordered chicken fajitas which were bland and undercooked. The chicken literally appeared as though it hadn't touched the grill. Could not stomach the plate after a few bites, had to leave the entire full plate behind after paying my bill. Stomach ache began on the drive home thereafter. read more
