    Kids tonkatsu ramen
    R S.

Went here after school with my daughter for dinner. We got the kid size tonkatsu ramen and the gyudon. She got to taste the food first, official food taster and all. She really liked both! The ramen broth had a very nice flavor to it, and its such a little thing, but the bamboo shoots were fresh and tasty. The beef bowl was yummy too! We'll come back for certain, and bring the hubby. The young lady at the front of shop was very sweet and very hard working.

Interesting Japanese/Chinese hybrid ramen shop right off of Hwy 99. The Black Garlic Ramen doesn't have the typical creamy consistency of classic tonkotsu broth, but it offers the same boldness in flavor. The bamboo shoots and black fungus were such a nice touch! It reminds me of ingredients my mom puts in her own noodle soups. Lastly, the noodles had a nice soft texture to them. Bonus points for the peaceful ambiance, clean interior, and medium-volume indie music. It saddened me to only see 2 other tables occupied on a Saturday night. This place deserves so much more recognition.

Always hesitant to try new ramen places, 8 Hour Ramen pleasantly surprised me. I had the Black Garlic Ramen. The chashu was very flavorful and they provided a good number of toppings. The broth, noodles, and toppings were all excellent. Just as a note, the broth was quite heavy in fat-content. Overall, good service. For a relatively low amount of tables, the waitress took an incredibly long time to check-in and to deliver the check. I don't know of any good ramen places nearby, so this is a nice option in Elk Grove.

This place was recommended by a friend of mine and I decided to take myself out on a me date and try this place! I ate here around 2pm on a thursday and it was very slow and relaxing. I enjoyed their interior design as well as their music. It really set the vibe and perfect for eating ramen. I ordered their Spicy Miso Ramen, choosing pork soup base and chashu with my choice of noodle being the normal type. It came out pretty quickly like 5-10 minutes. It was delicious and i enjoyed eating there. I also enjoyed the staff they were so kind and patient :)

We wanted some sort of noodle soup so we decided to give this place a try. They were having a buy one get the 2nd ramen 50% off. We were immediately greeted. After we sat down, the service started to lack. It took them a while to come take our order. We order fried oysters, tonkatsu ramen and black garlic ramen. It took 20 minutes for our food to come out. I felt the broth was not hot enough. It was a bit too salty as well. Portion was average.

This place needs to pop off. I'm so glad it reopened. This is my third time here and the ramen has been great every single time. The soft boiled egg is perfect! They are having a special for its reopening. Try it!

We could not wait to come back after the re-opening. Sounds like they reopened in late November. But WHOA, what happened to the ramen????? The appetizers were good. But our favorite which is the Black Pepper was just like water and no richness to the broth as before. Was such a bummer. Totally watered down and nothing like what it was before which I totally raved about in the past. Also the Tonkatsu had no flavor in the broth compared to before as well, literally like plain water , lastly the spicy miso though tasted better out of the 3, was also weak. We are probably not coming back again for some time when we want ramen.

Black Garlic Oil Ramen It comes with chashu, bamboo shoots, black fungus, egg, green onion, and a rich pork soup base that's simmered for 8 hours daily. A bit oily for me (likely from the black garlic oil) but still a good ramen Chicken Katsu Purple Rice Wrap It contains crispy fried chicken, pork floss, crunchy dough, corn, pickled radish, cucumber, and lettuce all wrapped in nutritious purple rice. Really enjoyed this one! It is healthier yet filling.

We are thrilled that this establishment has reopened! My husband and I had been waiting patiently. He refuses to dine at any other ramen restaurant. I appreciate the variety of noodle options, including three distinct selections. Personally, I prefer udon noodles. Occasionally, I am torn between ordering udon noodles or ramen. Now, I can both worlds!

Food: The price for ramen is cheaper than other places and STILL TASTE JUST AS GOOD!! I love the black garlic if you're looking for something peppery!! Service/Ambiance: Small cute ramen shop that plays pop music!

Food: 3/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Seating: 5/5 Parking: 5/5 Great service, quick and friendly, they even give a free sticker at the end. Although on the smaller side, had tables with booth seating or at the counter, all cushioned and comfortable. Ordered the Black Garlic Ramen with Corn and nothing bad but also nothing too special, standard ramen so 3/5. Lots of parking, located in a shopping center with lots of other businesses. Interior decorated nicely.

The ramen was just ok, I've had better.we got the veggie ramen and black garlic oil ramen . Was a little salty no real depth to the taste of the broth. Also had the appetizer chicken karage now that was good -chicken was juicy in a nice crunchy batter. Ambience of shop was cute. Would come again, if no where else to go.

    Robert R.

It was ok. Hard to point out highlights. Food almost felt reheated. Was overly spicy but that was ok. What it really lacked was the broth didnt have a lot of depth. Service was ok. I probably wouldnt come back again but the food wasnt bad. Just wasnt great though.

I am extremely disappointed with how this situation has been handled. I have reached out more than ten times without any response from management. I have been a long-term customer of Maru, and this is the first time I have felt that my concerns were not respected. I want to be clear that this is not a reflection on the waitstaff. Soo long ago, right? Well, their ramen has always been great and tasty. This is a small restaurant next to other small business. The atmosphere is casual and cozy. They have art pieces and pictures of their ramen on the walls. There are booth, table and bar area seating. They have a variety of ramen, rice bowls, salads & some appetizers. Theres soda, sweet drinks but no alcohol serve. We came here for dinner around 6pm, not busy which was perfect. We were greeted my the server and seated right away in a booth near the entrance. Food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the #3 Red-Tonkotsu, #11 Shio Ramen & Unagi Rice Bowl as well appetizer, Shrimp Har Gao. The #3 was creamy with a spicy, savory kick to it. The #11 was light with subtle taste, not too intense like the miso or soy sauce flavors. Both ramen were flavorful. My dish was the unagi rice which contains rice, scrambled eggs and grilled eel. The portion was pretty big, tasted buttery, and tender, with a sweet-savory balanced. It was good but I've had better, meaning that the way the eggs were made, made a difference. Just know this dish did said scrambled so I wasn't expecting the slighty beaten running eggs that im used to when eating this bowl. The shrimp har Gao was mediocre, not flavored until you dipped into the sauce. Overall, all 3 dishes were well made. Appetizers was not my favorite. Service was great! Will definitely come back more often.

On this particular visit we started with 2 different sushi tacos-We had the tuna version and the salmon version-each priced at $11.00. Now I could write a novel explaining the virtues of these culinary creations but I will keep it short-the tuna and the salmon tacos are such the perfect bite-well balanced-well seasoned-surprisingly heavy in the hand while being light to the taste-it's truly been my favorite new food item discovery of 2026. Next we went with the Stir-Fry Udon and this cost us $16.00. I've described this dish in the past as a dish I could eat every day of my life and would be a very happy person. The flavor and seasonings are flawless, the noodles are cooked perfectly, great chew-a very slurpable noodle for sure.
