This restaurant is clean and the service we had was great. We ordered kaopoon, Laos style papaya salad, yum woon sen, fried bananas with ice cream. I thought the kaopoon was good, but a little disappointed that it only had chicken in it. I wish it also had quail eggs in there. The papaya salad was good but needed to be a bit more sweeter. I love that it was hand chopped, like how they do it in Laos. Yum soon sen salad on the other hand, was way too sweet. It would be a 10 out of 10 if they adjusted the over powering sweetness. The best thai food around. Good portions, yummy food, and great thai tea. We used to go to their old location and quickly followed to their new one here as Thai Hot. My favorite is the curry puffs, like a baked pastry filled with potato and carrot yellow curry with a sweet dipping sauce, but i prefer to use their peanut sauce for the best flavor. My family loves the drunken noodle, pad thai, and green curry. Spice can be adjusted. Parking can get busy in the lunch hour, but plentiful during the midweek evening. Walked in on a Thursday for dinner, got sat at one of the booths in the corner. It was really hot inside. Didn't feel the AC was strong enough so we were sweating. I had a late lunch on Sunday (Mother's Day) with my husband and my in-laws. Luckily we were able to get a table before they all got filled shortly afterwards! We were greeted and handed menus, which we noticed weren't consistent with some of the dishes that were on 2 of the menus, but weren't on the other 2. When we asked the waiter, he explained that the menu that showed more items was the more updated version, so they could be ordered. Not really sure why they're handing out older versions of the menu mixed in with newer menus that have more offerings? We ordered 4 items total, 2 appetizers and 2 entrees. We got the chicken wings and papaya salad to start, and then the pad thai with chicken and eggplant (on the newer menu) with beef and brown rice. The dishes were good portion sizes and I appreciated that they came out to the table as they were ready. We all shared so we could try everything, and I'd have to say that the clear standout for me was the eggplant dish! Super flavorful. As I said before, the restaurant definitely got full later, even during an "off hour" of 2:30, with some larger groups dining in as well. Decided to check out this spot on a whim. The restaurant had a decent number of tables, though the interior was very simple with little to no noticeable decor. The menu was small, but we managed to try quite a few dishes. I started with the fresh spring rolls. Unfortunately, the cucumbers inside were extremely bitter, so I ended up removing them from each piece. The peanut sauce served alongside them was light and mild. The drunken noodles, garlic pepper beef, and tom yum soup were all very enjoyable. Each dish had great flavor without being overly salty. The Kapiek noodles were flavorful as well, although they leaned a bit saltier, and the larger pieces of chicken were somewhat dry. The papaya salad definitely lived up to its spice level -- it was very spicy. Most of our food arrived quickly, but the last two dishes took quite a while to come out. Had dinner here and it was good! The restaurant is very open even though the seating is a bit odd with a booth near front of door kind of just in a weird spot but ‍. Service was good they were very quick with the orders and getting food to table. We ordered the spring rolls .. that was ok.. the cucumber inside was weirdly bitter. Pretty good food and quick service! I wonder if this place is owned by coconut on T because the menus look pretty similar. My husband and I ordered the fresh roll to start, and then some Tim kha soup. Both were so good, although I thought the soup would be bigger. We also ordered the marinated grilled chicken and ground chicken ka prao with brown rice. Again so delicious and a healthy meal. We also had plenty to take home. Ambiance is casual. My wife and I came to try out this new place. It looks like a family run small business. When we got there, it was pretty empty on a Sunday night, but customers started steadily coming in about 7:30. We order the ground chicken basil stir fry with egg, fresh rolls, bbq chicken, and tom kha with chicken. Tom kha with chicken- good broth, I like that they take out the lemon grass and galangal, because other places leave it in and it's such a hassle to take it out as you eat. I wish there was more broth. Also, this was the last item that came out instead of first. Ground chicken basil stir fry with egg- this is like pad ka prow. Good, flavorful. I wish the egg yolk was still runny. Fresh rolls- good sauce, no flavor in the rolls, but that's how it is. It's all sauce dependent. Grilled chicken- I was expecting pieces of chicken. Decent. We stopped by for lunch on a Friday afternoon and ordered the salmon mango salad, boat noodles, eggplant with beef, mango sticky rice for dessert, and three Thai teas. The Thai tea was a bit too sweet for my taste, so I ended up diluting it with about half a cup of water. There was also a mix up with our order. We requested the salmon mango salad, but the shrimp salmon salad was brought out instead. Since it looked good, we decided to keep it. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, and the flavors were delicious. My favorite dish was the eggplant with beef. The eggplant was flavorful and paired very well with the beef. The boat noodles were decent, although I have had better elsewhere. The mango sticky rice was good, but it did not particularly stand out. Overall, we had a pleasant experience. I came here twice in 1 week. The beef salad was so good! And the garlic pepper beef was flavorful, actually a little salty but good when mixed with rice. We asked for mild but it was more like a medium. It came with so much sauce that I used the excess to stir fry my own ingredients. However, I got a papaya salad Thai style the following visit and that was honestly so bad :(((. It had no flavor and there was nothing to mix up the dish. Just bland sauce, papaya and crushed chili pepper only (I specifically asked no peanuts though). I usually get Lao style papaya salad but I wanted Thai style this time and it was not enjoyable at all. I will probably try their Lao style one of these days to compare. But looking at other people's photos, maybe mine was a fluke because it looked nothing like the others. I had no tomato or greens mixed in. Literally 0. Newly opened Thai spot. Apparently, their other location was The Coconut in the Walmart plaza. My husband and I came one evening to check out the menu, which looked pretty decent. However, we were disappointed they didn't offer Pineapple Fried Rice, which is usually a Thai restaurant staple. We ordered Tom Yum soup, Pad Thai with shrimp, Spicy Tilapia with brown rice (all mild spice), and Thai tea for takeout. The Tom Yum soup was very good and had a nice kick, though the portion size was smaller than what we're used to. The Pad Thai was just okay--not terrible, but lacking flavor and it didn't come with a lime. The Spicy Tilapia tasted good, but the takeout packaging was terrible. The container wasn't sealed, so the sauce spilled in the bag and the fish ended up dry. One positive surprise: the "brown rice" turned out to be purple rice. Their Thai Tea was great! Can't go wrong with that! Overall, we probably won't be back. I wasn't a fan of The Coconut either, so I'm not surprised this place didn't win me over. If I'm craving good Thai food, I'll make the drive to Sacramento. read more

By far the worst service I ever received at a Thai restaurant. Came in here with my sisters, we get boba at Rose Tea lounge and wanted to try it out. They renovated the interior a bit. Looks very opened and clean. The younger waitress would not take our order. She was bringing the entrees to the table, so we figured that she doesn't know how to take orders. But started to take orders when it got busy. The lady with the glasses finally took our order after 15 mins later. Our food came out at a decent time, not much of a delay but no one refills water. I had to get my own boxes and walk up to the counter to pay. When I got my bill, I asked if the tips were included. She told me no. When I got the receipt, the tip section reflects 2%,5%, or 7%. Super odd, so I told her I need my phone so I can calculate the tip. Few minutes later, she came by and told me I don't need to calculate. The tip was automatically included for parties of 6. I'm not too happy that she lied to me. This is a shady restaurant and will not be returning. For people who's going to dine in, make sure you get an itemized bill. read more

We discovered this great new Thai spot in Elk Grove and had to come back for a second visit. The food is absolutely delicious. This time I ordered the fresh spring rolls, eggplant with tofu with brown rice, and finished with mango sticky rice for dessert, everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients, and the dishes feel both comforting and vibrant. The eggplant with tofu was especially amazing, rich, savory, and cooked just right. We decided to get take out for dinner yesterday (Easter Sunday) and I was craving Thai food. As I was looking to see who was open in Elk Grove, I found a new place we hadn't visited yet, Thai Hot. To be able to compare it to other spots we ordered two classics that are often part of our order- Pad Thai (with shrimp) and Green Papaya salad (Thai style). Ordered medium hot spice for both, which was just right. When I arrived to pick up our order, our food was ready, and for major bonus points the two dishes ( one cold, one hot) were bagged separately. Both dishes were delicious and the best I've had. This will quickly become a go-to Thai spot for me. They had a previous location, coconut on Elk Grove blvd and if you liked that, then you'll enjoy this location. Staff were amazing, kind, and quick. Their water is infused with mint, lemon, and limes giving a refreshing flavor. The food was delicious and well seasoned. The vegetables were perfectly cooked, not too soft nor too hard. I would highly recommend coming here. They offer two styles of Papaya Salad, Thai and Lao. I chose Lao style medium spicy and i thoroughly enjoyed it even though i was fighting for my life. It did make me feel healthy and it's great for gut health. I would recommend getting it mild. The shrimp in the pad Thai was perfectly cooked. And the noodles were as well. However, once again this place has failed me on the authentic Thai food test. .Beef laab were way too sweet, it wasn't authentic, ground beef stir fried then mixed with herbs. Which cooked all the vegetables to a soggy point. Laab was warm. That's a no no. . kaopiek was a no no, just the noodles with already added green onions in the soup; there were NO CHICKEN! No meat of any kind. There was no other kinds of condiments except for overwhelming fried garlic. Horrible. . Eggplant dish, there was barely any eggplant. Why is soggy cucumbers and broccoli in there. Eggplants are cheap! .why is my stick rice gooey?? That's a no no. First and last. Food is delicious and they don't skimp on portions. They used to be called Coconut but moved location.

We went with our friends and their 2 year old for lunch. We brought our 2 year old and 7 month old as well. They had booster seats and high chairs. The food was excellent. Spice levels requested were met perfectly. Large portions, but not so much you bring home an over abundance of leftovers. The service was prompt as well without being overly approached.
