I called on Sunday for take out. I arrived to an empty restaurant. We ordered shrimp pad thai and chicken fried rice as well as chicken satay. This place is close to us in the Bel Air shopping center passing the gym and next to Quick Quack carwash. Im sorry to say the rice was lacking and had huge pieces of broccoli under the rice and very little chicken. It was dry and kinda burnt. The chicken satay was ok. The shrimp pad thai was the biggest let down. No flavor at all just bland noodles. It was too bad because they did give plenty of shrimp but no chili sauce and/or alfalfa sprouts but lots of shredded carrots and tiny portion of peanuts. Sad this wont be a place I go back to. Came here today as I was in the area and this was one of my only options because I had very limited time to grab something to eat. I ordered the pad Thai, and let me tell you, this was the most disgusting chicken pad Thai I have ever eaten. I guess I should have read the reviews and the 3.5 stars this place has, but like I said, I was in a hurry with limited time and limited options. The chicken had absolutely no flavor and the noodles itself had a very very weird flavor and nothing like I've ever tasted before when ordering pad Thai which is my favorite and only dish I order at Thai restaurants. Over the years I noticed there might have been different owners. Such a small, cute, quiet, and cozy place. When you come in, you get greeted and seated quickly. Food is fresh and hot. The family and I ordered the Satay Chicken, Egg Rolls, Chicken Pad Thai, Thai Fried Rice, Beef Drunken Noodles, Coconut Juice and Thai Iced Coffee. We usually do take out here, and food would be ready quickly. But the day we went here it took a little longer than expected. This review has me torn as I see how hard working the woman was who was helping me. Looks like she was the owner and had been doing all of the work on her own. I came in on a random wed night and my pregnant wife was craving Thai food. The service was fast. Upon walking in I will say it is a smaller dining room as it looked like I just arrived after a rush as the tables were dirty and still had dishes on them. She was the only person in the restaurant and gave me the aunty vibe as she greeted us. Food: 6/10 Portion: 5/10 Price: 5/10 Service: 8/10 Our preferred Elk Grove Thai is KB Thai but this was the next open and closest option to us. Would we go out of our way to come back? We LOVE this place! We come in every time we are in area - about once a month. First, the service is exceptional. The food is always hot and SO good. Be sure to ask for it spicy if you like spicy. The curry is our favorite and full of flavor. I get the yellow curry with chicken. My husband gets the green curry. The portions are a good size and reasonably priced. It is a quaint, hole in the wall, neighborhood place that can get crowded. It is very clean. You won't be disappointed! read more

Came here on Saturday night for dinner and glad it was open. It's a small cozy little restaurant and decorated well. There's only one server, so please be kind a patient. Glad to see there were a few other guests seated and to-go orders ready. Growing up on Thai food, I'm particular. I loved the gravy noodle because not every Thai restaurant serves it. The only downside and reason for 4 stars is that they used American broccoli instead of the traditional Chinese broccoli. The fried banana dessert was also a slightly different texture, but still delicious. Only downside was they had vanilla ice cream instead of traditional coconut ice cream. I ordered the red curry with tofu, a side of white rice and spring rolls with tofu. My total was was 28$. The spring rolls were made of shredded lettuce, carrots, and about four pieces of fried tofu, they were huge, but flavorless would not order again. No herbs either cilantro / mint ect. Came with a sauce I did not eat. Tasted like old peanut sauce. Rice was low quality and not good. Felt dry and old. The curry was on the sweeter side even though I ordered it spicy. The offerings here are traditional Thai dishes. While some of the reviews indicate the food is hit or miss, my go-to are the red and yellow curries and I've never been disappointed with them. After spotting this place a few months ago, I finally decided to try it since I was in the area for a Yelp event at a nearby boba shop; the food is good and is a good value with 2 of my dishes priced at $8.99. The woman who helped us was super nice and it took about 15-20 minutes to prepare 3 dishes, with each having enough food for multiple meals. The only thing I'd change is I'd prefer a bit more chicken in the Pad Thai, after seeing a lot of noodles and not much meat but the flavor and portion was good. They're about average with places I've been to, but today's visit was a little disheartening. I got the mango curry with chicken, and lets just say it was probably more like mango chicken. The taste of curry escaped this dish. I think the mango was over ripe or something, but there was also a fact of there was NO lack of mango in this dish. It was pretty much swimming in mango juice with a splash of curry. I understand this is mango curry, but it really just turned into mango. The carrots tasted like mango. The bell peppers tasted like curry. The chicken tasted like a mango with a chicken texture. I like mango, but this was just too much. If you go, I think go for the noodles. Thai food tends to have the same menu items for vegans, but the customer service/quality/flavor is what sets each apart. Ordered. . . Pad Thai: Very delicious. Seasoned well, not spicy, freshly served. Yellow Curry: Potatoes were AMAZING. Everything was fresh, delicious, and portioned well. Fresh spring rolls: These were very 'refreshing' NO mint (which don't like anyway) just veggies + tofu. Thai iced tea: Made with coconut milk. Perfect amount of ice. Fried Bananas: These were a little more fried than expected. Usually fried bananas have more of a glaze, but still cooked well, tasted great. It's a restaurant so I am there for food. Hello! I ordered Fried Rice with pork. When I said water to drink please she kind of frowned at me. It came out quickly as I was the only person in there. When I saw that I probably should have turned around and walked out. It's 12:30 and I am the only one in the place? What's wrong with this picture? Anyway the rice did look good and the portion was right for the $6.95 price. I ask if I could get a small side dish of chopped fresh chilis in fish sauce please? She didn't answer and came back with a small condiment tray. It had Chinese hot sauce, chili oil, dried chili flakes, and soy sauce. No chopped chilis in fish sauce. I used the chili oil, but it wasn't what I ask her for. The fried rice was OK at best. When I paid my bill I saw a sign that said an extra $.25 for fresh chilis. I ask if I could get those chilis with fish sauce. She showed me the bill I had just paid and I think said "no charge." I said no for the next time I come in and she said no fish sauce. The name of the restaurant is partially correct. However it should be " Simply The Worst Thai" restaurant. I've been eating Thai food for over 40 years and this was barely edible. Absolutely no flavor!!!! Not a hint of spices or tamarind. Not to mention the small portion. Tell tell sign for me should have been; no customers, 1 employee, and the phone didn't ring and it's dinner time. I'll chalk my 24.00 as a donation as I had to throw the remaining food away. My friend and I both got one of the red curry options and both were quite tasty. I am more familiar with their mild yellow curry offering and have a difficult time with foods that are too spicy. It was plainly stated that the red curry had more heat, but I decided to try it anyway. So it was my fault that I was quickly reaching for my water after the first bite. The waiter soon checked in with us and I explained that the dish was delicious, but a little spicy for my palate. He suggested that he could have the cook fix it by adding a bit more coconut milk, and as quick as a wink, had my dish "fixed" and returned to me. I definitely recommend this restaurant. The food and service are excellent. Ambiance is quaint. Hint: The indoor seating is limited, so I recommend making reservations if going on a weekend. read more
