Here's another place that's been in Elk Grove for years, but has taken me forever to give it a shot. I got to try them out thru Door Dash. I had the Mongolian beef lunch. It comes with both chow Mein and fried rice, which I appreciate because some places make you choose between the two sides. Everything was good. Not the best I've had, but still really good. I also wish they gave a little bit more of meat in the entree portion. With that being said, this place is a solid option for Chinese takeout. read more

I've passed by Rose Palace more times than I can count heading to Safeway. Finally gave it a go, and man, I wish I'd stopped in sooner. This place isn't trying to be trendy or polished. It's Chinese fast food done right: hot, generous, and unapologetically satisfying. We grabbed a couple of plates for dinner including salt and pepper chicken, chow mein, hot and sour soup, and the house fried rice. No frills, just flavor. The kind of meal that hits the spot after a long day when you want something familiar and craveable without the small plates or QR codes. You can tell it's a neighborhood joint by how many people the staff already know by name waiting inside. The space is clean, unpretentious, and smells exactly how a good Chinese takeout spot should. Ordered on the phone to go. But decided to dine in. Lady was super helpful and polite brought us our plates and utensils and also checked on us incase we needed any thing. I ordered chicken fried rice and Mongolian chicken. The food was excellent and tasty had no complaints on the food at all the food here beats most of the Chinese food that's local. Ordered some take out and it was amazing. The restaurant is nice if you decide to sit and enjoy but I was entertaining guests and this time for we got delivery. We ordered the Family Dinner Option B and added a Pork Fried Rice. The food is always delicious and plentiful. Visiting my cousin last weekend and decided to get some Chinese food. This is her favorite place. One server, quick, polite, efficient. She kept our water's full, checked on us several times, even helped box and bag leftovers. I can tell it's a regular neighborhood spot by the service shown to us and the way she greeted and knew each pick up order. The restaurant is clean average strip mall Chinese restaurant decor. The real find here is the food. Hands down some of the best if not the best Chinese food I've had in a long time. We did the individual dinners which came with soup, appetizers, chicken chow mein and choice of entree. I did Kong pow chicken, super flavorful with lots of vegetables and peanuts. My husband got Mongolian beef which had some really nice heat from peppers and pepper. Another member of our party got the salt and pepper wings which were delicious with a hint of five spice and jalapeños. The chow mein was really tasty, not greasy, with bean sprouts and cabbage that added freshness to the dish. We also got hot and sour soup to go and enjoyed it later that evening and the next day with our leftovers. I was really impressed with the quality, portions and flavor of this spot. Do you want authentic Chinese food. Then this is the place. It's a little hole in the wall type of place. Almost missed it but voila here it is and it's so delicious. Their orange chicken is the best I've tasted. Then my other favorite is their pork fried rice. Chow mein, Chow fun, I think I spelled that right those are both so so good. Noodles, veggies, shrimp. Mmm mmm. I also tried the salt and pepper chicken, gobbled that up instantly along with the Jalapeños in it. I did try the hot & sour soup, I prefer this one a little spicier and less thick. AMAZING!!! I forgot how good this place was. The hostess greeted us right away and was super attentive the entire time. Food was a 10/10. Super tasty and served piping hot. Everything was delicious. We had the dinner for 2 that came with chowmein, wor wonton soup, mandarin chicken, fried prawns and crab wontons. The crab wontons were one of the best I've had. I really didn't want to cook for our Thanksgiving family get-together so we ordered from Rose Palace. Used to be one of my favorite to-go places when I lived in Elk Grove but it's been at least 10 years since I've been here. Convenient location next to the Safeway on Laguna. Placed our order over the phone a couple days beforehand. Prices are great, a lot lower than what we have in Placer County. We ordered beef with broccoli, combination chow fun and honey walnut prawns. Didn't expect the honey walnut prawns to be strips, which were probably frozen shrimp pieces? We had been looking for a go-to place in the Elk Grove area for Chinese food and decided to give this place a try today. It's a little hole-in-the-wall kind of a place with simple, unpretentious food at good size portions and very reasonable prices. We had the wor wonton noodle soup, the house special chow fun, and the dinner combo with orange pork and chow mein. Everything was very good, and we had plenty of leftovers to take home. From the reviews it appears that this place does primarily takeout, but we dined in today. The service was the best we've had from any Asian restaurant. I think the lady who served us is might've been the owner. She was very sweet, attentive and genuine. Not the best Chinese food that I have had..... very disappointed Ordered: Hong Kong Style House Special Chow Mein Stir Fried Egg Plant Snow Peas and Water Chestnut Salt and Pepper Spare ribs Hot and Sour Soup Mongolian Lamb Crab and Cream Cheese Wontons I was craving some chinese food, and I wanted to try a new place. Rose Palace stood out with its reviews and menu. I took a shot and ordered a bunch of food for the family. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. It is hard for me to be displeased by chinese food, but this food was just not up to par to the chinese food around the area. Too start off, the Mongolian Lamb was absolutely salty, and it was way too saucy. It just wasn't good. The Salt and Pepper Spare Ribs were disappointing as it was just ground pork wrapped in flour batter. It was more 60% batter and it was bitter as well. The batter seemed to be old and it is definitely using old oil.... which comes out in the taste of the dish.... Hot and Sour soup was way too sour. It is very hard to ruin this kind of soup, but this is new for me. It was not spicy, but just tasted just like vinegar.... There was no real flavor of the bamboo shoots or any of the other vegetables, just overwhelming sourness. Stir Fried Egg plant was also battered the same way as the salt and pepper spare ribs, it was just soggy and not good. It would definitely have helped if it was just not battered too much. Crab and Cream cheese wontons is the final straw, there was not cream cheese or crab at all... The price of 8 wontons that are just fried skin is so disappointing.... I rather pay for 4 if it was filled with a good amount of cream cheese and fresh crab.... Some saving grace was the hong kong fried noodles were good, but not great. I have had better crispy noodles, but the lack of vegetables and other proteins for the cost was not worth it. They stir fry was very loose, not enough of corn starch slurry. The ambiance of the restaurant is very old and dark. The counter top needs to be cleaned. Overall, judging just by food, this place is very disappointing as chinese food. Panda express tastes much fresher and overall better. I would not recommend this to a friend right now. I ordered the Sweet & Sour dinner combo. I asked for Pork Chow Mein. They said it would be a dollar extra. No problem. The food smelled good and there was a fair amount, but here are my issues. I thought Chow Mein had crispy noodles. This meal had very thick and tasteless noodles. Then there is the Sweet & Sour Pork. It tasted like the oil was old and the sauce was bland. Very few vegetables as well. Only green peppers. No pineapple. The prawn was about as big as a 50 cent coin and the egg roll looked like it had just come out of a box. I ordered the cream cheese crab wontons and Singapore noodles to go and the service was great. The phone call had clear service. Sometimes I have a hard time hearing on the phone and with some places there's a tinny distortion to the call, this was not the case with Rose Palace. The Singapore noodles filled the container completely, were delicious, and great value for money. My only gripe is that I wish the crab and cheese wontons had more filling. My friend and I went here for Dinner on Christmas Eve. They had a ton of to-go order and they initially told us it might be a while to get our food. They definitely under promised and over delivered. We got our food very quickly. We got the dinner for 2 which was very reasonable especially considering all the courses they offer. The food is good old Chinese stick to your ribs. This establishment has my absolutely favorite wonton noodle soup in the Sacramento/Elk Grove area. The flavor in the broth is what sets this soup apart from others. There is always generous portions of wonton, fresh vegetables, and a handful of noodles. I usually only eat half of the order and save the rest for the next day. I also tend to call ahead to place my order. The staff are always pleasant and courteous. I will say this restaurant seems to handle a lot of to-go orders so sometimes I do have to wait a few minutes for it to be ready. We were craving some Chinese food a few days before thanksgiving because it makes great leftovers and I am cooking the big meal. We ordered four dishes and took home a fair amount of food after we ate our fill for lunch. The prices are incredibly reasonable and the portions are comparable to most Chinese restaurants. Our server was on the spot, friendly, and very good at her job. She repeated back the order to make sure she got everything just right and she did! Our food arrived and with the exception of the Singapore rice noodles being a tad over salted for my palate, everything was delicious. Not sure if they make their own chow mein noodles, but these were the longest we've ever seen. The bbq pork fried rice was tasty and I thought the pork was delicious. I love Chinese green beans and while these weren't the best I've ever had, the hot black bean sauce had just the right amount of spice. The photos were taken partway through our meal so don't show full portion sizes. This is just a great little spot tucked into an Elk Grove strip mall. It's definitely worth a stop. read more

Honestly if it wasnt for the customer service I would be giving this place a 3/5 based off the food alone. The food isn't bad at all don't get me wrong but I felt like some of it needed more flavor. The fried rice was fire and the beef and broccoli was cool but the egg rolls and chow mein needed more flavor for sure, but like I said it wasn't bad by any means. With some extra soy sauce and Sriracha I was okay with the chow mein, but to me if I have to add extra flavor it's because it's lacking. Kind of like one of those places where you leave and you aren't mad or unsatisfied but probably won't go back. Or one of those places where if someone else takes u and pays for it you'll eat it but u wont buy it urself lol. The customer service I absolutely loved tho. So to me that counted for an extra star, the customer service was soooo good that I would actually be down to try the place one more time (just in case it was an off day when I went). So all in all it was a 4/5 read more
