This is such a wonderful mom-and-pop restaurant, and I absolutely love supporting small businesses like this! Up until now, I've always ordered their party trays for events rather than dining in. Their party trays are incredibly affordable, and the owner always makes everything completely fresh. He is such a true gentleman. The last time I came here was on a rainy Tuesday, April 21st, 2026. Just the day before, I had decided to throw a last-minute birthday party for my one-year-old. I called the restaurant with very short notice to order two party trays: a large chow mein and a small orange chicken. The owner didn't hesitate at all and took my order right away. The next day, I arrived a little later than planned for pickup, but he was incredibly patient with me. When I went inside to pay, we ended up having a lovely, heartfelt conversation. Out of the pure kindness of his heart, he gave me a full bag of fortune cookies as a special treat for my daughter's birthday. It was such a sweet, thoughtful gesture! He then insisted on helping me carry the heavy party trays out to my car, opening the restaurant doors and the trunk for me, and even took a moment to wish my little girl a happy birthday. I will always support this restaurant. The food is delicious, but the heart behind the business is even better. My only wish for the owner is that he can hire a bit more staff so he can take some well-deserved rest days. He is always working so hard, and he truly deserves a good vacation! read more

Ever since they changed ownership (many years ago), the flavors are not the same. Here and there, I still craved for their food but seemed like the quality has gone down. I usually get the 2 item with chow mein, sesame chicken and general chicken. Chow mein was bland. The pieces of sesame chicken and general chicken were huge but mostly batter. Pretty much it was like eating flavored fried batters lol. Portion has gotten smaller. Portion still big but not as huge as it used to. They used to filled it to the point that the lid can barely closed. That is not the case anymore, at least not for me. Service have always been ok. I went there for a simple small chow mein for my son cause he is sick. The chowmein they had out was old so I request fresh ones. The owner started yelling and saying things like it's not old and lalalal... I was just shaking my head. One simple request and I get all the yelling and whatever he wants to talk about. O boy, he's so fired up when I say it's old and I want fresh ones. And so he mixed the old ones with the fresh one, which didn't bother me. But he came back with the tray and again give me attitude. It's kinda annoying how you go to restaurants and some people just don't know how to talk to customers. I was keeping my cool. I got to try this place thru Door dash. I was very shocked that not only offered 3 choices for a combination plate, but also 3 sides. I tried the 3 combo plate with: Kung pao chicken, Mongolian beef, salt & pepper fish, Chow Mein and Fried Rice. The best items were Mongolian beef, chow Mein & fried rice. They give a lot of food for the price, so I think you get your money's worth. One thing I will have to say, is after eating, I felt so thirsty for the rest of the day. And it did not disappoint. We decided to get takeout dinner on a Tuesday night arrived at the restaurant around 6 PM. The restaurant has a small dining room but everyone was ordering their food to go at this casual Chinese restaurant. There is a large menu on the wall and some ready-made food to create your favorite combo plate at the counter. We ordered à la carte Salt & Pepper Pork and Combination Chow Mein that the owner asked if I wanted spicy and of course I said yes! I went here because I heard the salt and fish was the best in Sacramento according to some of the reviews. I'm tired of getting lied to by Sacramento reviewers about the Chinese food in the area. The standards are just too low that Panda Express is now becoming the gourmet experience of the area for Chinese food. It's a joke. I've been looking for a good Chinese fast food spot for almost a decade after moving to the area from the San Francisco bay area. The standards of Chinese food in the bay area is so much higher. It makes me miss it so much more. So I go there and it looks like a typical multi item Chinese fast food spot. I looked at the hot food behind the glass and it looked so unappealing. I asked if they had any more, they said they can make it fresh from the kitchen in the back and had an extensive menu posted on the wall. I ended getting the chow mein (which was the best thing on my order), salt and pepper fish, generals chicken and curry chicken. They are all generally safe orders and are usually good wherever I go. But I guess I came on an off day for them. The fried fish was too greasy. If they took the time to drain some of the oil, it would've been better. The generals chicken was too darn undercooked. The coating of the chicken nuggets was doughy and could've spent another 5 minutes in the fryer. The sauce was ok though. The chicken in the curry chicken clearly should've been thrown away days ago by the kitchen since it tasted so old. I requested the dish to be spicy and it was. The seasoning was on point, but the chicken was too darn old. It had a noticeable "old" after taste to it. I was so hungry that I ended up eating more than half before throwing it away. When I took my first bite of the generals chicken, my first reaction was to spit it out because the texture was so off but ate it because of my level of hunger. They also used old chicken on that one. Overall, the seasoning was good, but they needed to use fresh chicken, needed to fry it longer and then extract the oil much better, instead of having the grease settle on my take out container. If they spent more time and care in their cooking techniques and being aware of the age of the chicken, it would've so much better. I did enjoy the chow mein and the large portions they served. I won't go back. I don't think the kitchen takes the time to taste their own food and doesn't have any pride in what they serve to people. I wished I had pictures to show but ate it quickly because I was hungry and threw it right away in the trash because of the shame I felt of actually spending money on that meal. read more

I come here very often. My go to is the beef chow mein. I just take out the onions and add jalapeños. Another good option he serves is Vegetable chowmein. If you want the most flavor though, go with the beef. read more

It's really hard to find good Chinese food in the sac area but my sister has been hunting down a spot from our childhood and we think this is it. The restaurant looks pretty rough so we decided to order to go. We got two large spicy chicken chow mein and one large salt and pepper chicken. They PACKED those plates with food which I am extremely pleased with, the food was originally just meant for two but we ended up splitting it among three with tons of leftovers (see photos for leftovers)! The noodles taste extremely nostalgic of the noodles we had at Florin Mall as kids, except a lot spicier. The veggies were sparse as they typically are in this dish, but the flavor was really good. The chicken in the noodles was okay I honestly could've done without it. I wish I ordered non spicy though because the spicy noodles packed too much heat for me. The salt and pepper chicken was really crispy and perfectly cooked. The flavor was a savory explosion and paired really well with the noodles. FYI: they do stir fry with a lot of garlic and jalapenos for the salt & pepper dishes. They do hook it up with large portions of fried rice and chow mien when you order in and to go. Their prices have gone up but nothing out of the ordinary from other local Chinese food shops. This place does have a table and some chairs for dine in but preferably a to-go spot.
