We always come here every time we're craving for authentic Vietnamese cuisine (mainly) Pho, rice plates, vermicelli bowls and fried eggrolls. The lady that works there knows us and always has a smile every time she sees us. Regardless, how slow or busy it is whether it's early morning or evening dining. There's ample parking on a small parking lot. The food is very flavorful and is always consistent no matter when you dine here. We usually get the Pho Combo #4, the fried egg rolls, vermicelli bowl w/ BBQ pork, grilled shrimp and eggrolls, and the #49 rice plate with fried rice. The restaurant may seem not updated but it's clean and they have the most delicious eggrolls and #49 rice plate combo. They're all so delicious!

Finally decided to make a visit to Viet Ha for dinner. I first heard about Viet Ha from someone on instagram, who raved about their bun and that they have the best crispy cha gio. First, service was slow but expected since the lady at the cash register does everything (takes dine-in and phone orders, takes your payment, cleans the table, etc) so please be patient and understanding. From what I heard, she can speak English, Vietnamese, and Cantonese. I ordered #22 while my hubs got #18. The only difference with mine was the grilled shrimp. From looking at the reviews on yelp it looks like lots of people's favorite was #22. The portion is huge! They give you lots of meat and lots of noodles. Neither my husband nor I could finish all the noodles they give you so great for people who are really hungry. One bowl could definitely be shared by two. Taste-wise, we thought it was just ok. The cha gio was pretty big. It is wrapped in rice paper so the texture was pleasantly chewy and crispy and filled with generous amount of ground pork filling. I wouldn't call it the best cha gio I've ever had. The shrimp was a bit dry most likely being over grilled. The grilled pork was plentiful and tasty. Overall, I would give it 3/5 and my hubs gave his a 2/5. Would we return? Probably not, but I would say go once just to try out the cha gio.

If you like Vietnamese grilled pork, you have to get it from here! A pound of their grilled pork is about $17 and it lasts for so many meals. It's flavorful, savory, delicious, and perfectly cooked. It also comes with some sweet fish sauce on the side. A tip I have is to call and place an order beforehand so that you can just pick it up right when it is done cooking. Service is friendly, fast, and their timing is always accurate. The inside of the restaurant is pretty small, but cozy. Sometimes when they cut the grilled pork into pieces, they cut it up a little too much, so I would ask them to not cut it when I order it. This way I can easily cut it up with scissors myself and control the size of each piece. Last time I ate it with papaya salad over rice and I can't wait to have it again!

Food was ok. Service was great! Walnut shrimps were butterfly so not my cup of tea. Vermicelli bowl could had more veggies (veggies were on bottom of bowl). Orange chicken had too much batter and not crispy enough. Pho was good with lots of proteins. Crepe was crispy on outside but inside was still soggy with flour texture and too much bean sprouts. Need more veggies on the side for this size of a crepe Prices were decent n portions were great.

Viet Ha is a Sacramento staple. Great food, great portions, great price. 80% of the time, I usually get the 9A chicken noodle soup, but over the last few times I've been coming, I decided to try a couple different dishes I've never ordered before. Here's my rankings on what I've tried here over the years: 9A. Chicken noodle soup, 8/10 Beef combo pho, 7/10 Egg rolls, 7/10 Combination Plate #1, 9/10 43. Charbroiled pork rice plate, 6/10 Bun Rieu, 7/10 22. Charbroiled pork vermicelli, 7.5/10 My conclusion, the Combination Plate #1 is bomb and will definitely be a go to for me if I'm not feeling noodle soup. And a note to self, never order #43 again.

This place is a Sacramento Viet food institution. I grew up eating this place and we are die hard fans for over 30 years. Their grilled meat is amazing! The vermicelli is so good, it made my hubby a believer of Viet food, and most importantly, a convert to fish sauce. It's a a small unassuming mom & pop, but you can rely on this place to serve legit Viet food that can satisfy even the pickiest foodie. Parking: small lot shared with another business but parking spaces are reserved for. Viet Ha.

I've been coming to this location since beefore it even remodeled years ago but never thoughts of putting reviews till today. The quality of the foods are still good and so is their services. What prompted me to write a review today is their good pricing for sacramento area. While many places raised their prices due to inflation, thisnplace has kept its decent prices. I don't see many places have a nice ful bowl of vermicelli griled pork with egg rolls for $13.50. Yup not many in Sacramento. The Pho bowl is $12.50 and you can see the menu for all their prices. I can't justify paying $18-$20 for soup noodles or Pho anymore. It shouldn't cost that much but thats my opinion. I just eat out less with these crazy prices.

My monthly visit for my fav vietnamese vermicelli , charbroiled meats and the best eggrolls ( they used rice paper for the wrapper giving it the best texture ) ! Services are always attentive and prompt and the prices are the best you can find in the area!

My pick up and go spot... I've been coming to Viet-Ha for over 10 years. This place has been around forever, and while I've tried other items on the menu, I keep coming back for one thing: #22. Trust me, look it up on the menu--it's a must-try. I'll include a photo for reference! I don't dine in often; it's my go-to pick-up spot when I'm craving #22. Ordering is super easy. I call ahead, and within 20 minutes, my food is ready to pick up. Quick, simple, and convenient. The portions are incredibly generous, easily feeding two people. I can never finish it all with the abundance of noodles and vegetables provided. I've also tried their pork chop over rice, and just like #22, the portions are huge. Their pho and other rice plates are decent, but #22 remains the "fav" for me. Parking is usually not an issue unless it's busy, but most people grab their food and go, so it's pretty manageable. Prices are reasonable, and the food tastes great. It's definitely a hit-or-miss spot depending on what you order, but overall, I've had a good experience here. If you're in the area, give #22 a try, you won't be disappointed!

Came here at around noon for lunch it was pretty busy sat down right away. It's a small hole in the wall restaurant. The portions are very big & the food was pretty good! The egg roll was my favorite part!

Best underrated Chinese food restaurant hands down. Service is slow and could use some help, but the food is always tasty and delicious. Our waitress when we ate in wasn't very attentive to our table. It took about 10 minutes for her to come and ask us if we were ready to order. Not good. The food came out in a reasonable time. The restaurant definitely gives you that hole in the wall feel, but if you don't mind it's not bad. Would recommend a visit here for good food. Only gave it four stars because of the inattentive waitress.

Was craving soup on a cold Friday night. Specifically BBH and remembered hearing Viet Ha having tasty BBH from the foodies around Sac. I haven't been there in ages since highschool years ago. Last I been there I had other items and remember food was good. We showed up a little past 7 and they closed by 8pm but the doors were locked. There were two other parties dinning in, one in which I was able to see have not ordered yet. So unsure of why it was locked. As we turn to walk away a worker opened it up and told us to come in and that they're still open. Could be for safety late night reasons being the area. We sat down and got our orders in quickly as we knew what we wanted. Server was quick to tend to us, and the food came out pretty fast as well. Food was hot and fresh. I lovvvved my BBH! Broth was hearty and packed with tons of flavors. No complaints but it was a little different from other BBH I've had before. No pork bone chunks or meat patty. There was blood. I would come back just for this soup. My sister got a vermicelli dish and that bowl was loaded! Packed to the brim! Came with a spring wrapped eggroll rather than a regular eggroll. The nuoc mam sauce was delicious not too sweet or fishy. She liked how they used the smaller noodles for this dish. Place has updated a bit it's bright and welcoming. It's a small little restaurant but it feels spacious inside. I was surprised how cheap the pieces were compared all the other South Sac Vietnamese restaurants.

First time experiencing the menu outside of Dim Sum. Here are my notes:…read more Special Fried Rice in Claypot - Refreshing fried rice due to the addition of the cilantro. You can taste the umami from the roe and other ingredients that I am not entirely sure are but taste familiar. I enjoyed and loved it. Mapo Tofu - Firm Tofu and good sauce. Although I do enjoy more of a Sichuan-style spicy mapo tofu (with the very numbing taste), I still found this mapo tofu delicious as you can taste the flavor of the pork and sauce coating the tofu. 2 Entree BBQ Platter: Roast Duck and Empress chicken - I'm biased towards roast duck. I love roast duck so any roast duck is good to me. Not a lot of comment on the duck. However, the Empress Chicken is nicely seasoned with the whatever broth they cooked it in. One of the few Empress Chickens where I can enjoy it without the scallion-ginger oil, but the scallion-ginger oil still elevates this Chicken to a higher level. Congee with Pork and Preserved Egg - Comforting and triggers a lot of nostalgic feelings for me. I didn't have to add too much additional soy sauce or chili sauce because the congee has a great base flavor. Preserved egg and pork weren't too chunky, rice was not too "mushy", and the overall congee was in a good thickness to create a nice mouth feel for each bite. Will visit again to try the other dishes.

Drinks aren't rated, as they don't sell house cocktails (though they sell a small selection of beers and wines). All-in-all a solid menu. The dilemma is that we generally felt unwelcome. We came by on a Sunday evening at 6:30 pm (and paid and left by 8:20 pm which is 10 minutes before closing). We were a party of 8 with diverse backgrounds, and with exception to one server (a woman wearing red who was maybe a manager), the staff just weren't friendly toward us. I will say that one woman in red was so kind. She made sure to say "bye" as we left. I will add one of my friends mistakenly tried to take a pair of chopsticks (as they are set on the table in a paper slip). She didn't realize they were store owned/reusable vs throwaway. She quickly apologized, but that became the final straw of awkwardness with the staff. The food was genuinely great with appropriate prices, so I may give it another shot down the road as a date night option.

A great spot for a solid Chinese meal--and surprisingly, an amazing banana cream pie!…read more The service was friendly overall, although our table wasn't checked on very often since it was so busy. That said, the food more than made up for it. Our favorite dish by far was the Spicy Calamari with Basil. It's something I'd absolutely come back for--the calamari was tender with a great texture, and the sweet, savory flavors paired perfectly with everything else we ordered. The Garlic Chili Green Beans were another standout. They had great flavor and still retained a nice crunch instead of being overly soft, giving them the perfect stir-fried texture. The Vegetable Chow Fun (with beef added) was decent but a little dry for my taste, so it's probably not something I'd order again. By the end of the meal we were completely stuffed, but we couldn't resist trying the banana cream pie. It looked huge when it arrived, and we honestly didn't think we'd finish it--but it was so delicious that we ended up eating the whole thing. Definitely don't skip dessert! I also appreciated that when I asked for hot sauce, they brought out several different options to try, including what seemed like a garlic chili sauce, chili crisp, hot mustard, and sweet and sour sauce. It was a fun touch that let us customize each bite. The restaurant also has a lot of history and character. We walked in casually without realizing it was a more upscale sit-down restaurant, but it ended up being one of the highlights of our day. If you go, the Spicy Calamari with Basil and the banana cream pie are absolute must-orders!

The restaurant itself is like a long, large hallway. When you walk in, your greeted by the host desk. Then you walk towards the back and pass a bunch of booths, tables and the bar area to the right. It's built like a Craftsman style layout. When I was here recently, it was for a friend's birthday and there was a group of 10+ of us. They only do family style food so our group was split into 2 tables and each table ordered their own entrees and meals to eat family style. I was at a table of perks I had just met that night, but we had no issues sharing plates. This may not be for everyone, do you can still order your own entrees, but there won't be much variety if you don't have a lot of people. The food was good. We ordered wallet shrimp, Buddha's delight, the curry noodles/chow mein, garlic green beans and chicken chow mein. All three good was good. I would say it's above average and comparable to Din Tai Fung, but a bit cheaper. I liked the walnut shrimp, garlic green beans and buddhas delight. Service was decent. It could've been better, but could've been worse. Overall, we enjoyed our meal. I'll be back when dine downtown rolls around.

The food came out fast and piping hot. Pretty soon our entire table was covered with dishes. We started with the hot and sour soup, which we both felt was lacking in the flavor department. It didn't have that spicy tang that you look for when you order hot and sour soup. The potstickers were fried crispy, but the dough was a little too thick. The spicy cucumbers had no flavor to them at all. And the honey walnut shrimp was not memorable. We both felt that the two best dishes were the BBQ pork fried rice and the Mongolian beef. The beef was tender and had good flavor. The prices were extremely fair and the portions were large, but all in all this was not my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area.

The shrimp in their salted egg pumpkin and shrimp dishes was overcooked and their deep fried pig intestines were extremely stinky. Their portion sizes downsized like crazy and it's so bad that we didn't even finish any of the dishes. The best dish was a stir fry cauliflower dish that I could make at home. It was supposed to come with pork, but I only saw itty bitty pieces of meat. The service was also super bad and slow. I was eating their fried rice and bit on a piece of broken yellow plastic with multiple sharp points. Prior to that, I was feeding my toddler the rice so THANKFULLY it didn't go to him. When we told the server, which was an older lady with glasses and bangs, she's like oh... then she took it to the kitchen and pretended that nothing had ever happened when she came back out. Shes been there for years, and I remember seeing her when we were regulars. I wasn't expecting anything, except for some accountability. I used to love this place so it's pretty sad to see how much it went downhill.... This business needs to be scrapped. The current 3 stars is giving them too much credit and it must have been due to when they used to be good, in the past.
