A solid Chinese restaurant located in Elk Grove. After 1.5 weeks in Korea, I craved for some good Chinese food. We ordered beef Hong Kong style chow mein, tofu with mushrooms and salt & pepper spareribs. Food came out quickly. Food was good. Good portions. Servers were attentive.

Loved their "Tea Garden" wall mural!

We rarely eat Chinese food & go figure my wife is Chinese but bc I came down with a virus earlier this week my wife wanted to pick up some wonton soup for me. She decided upon Tea Garden which is pretty close to where we live. I remembered even my niece picking up food from here ages ago for a potluck we attended awhile ago. The food was decent. My wife came here pretty much when they first opened. She ordered from Ericka who was very pleasant & helpful, wor wonton soup, potstickers & not spicy mapo tofu. I scarfed up that soup on the first day. It was chef's kiss containing multiple wontons, Napa cabbage, shrimp, chasu & chicken. It was pretty hot in the plastic container however so have to be careful! The potstickers outside wrapper looked a little weird like empanadas but tasted fine. Mapo Tofu was good with the brown rice my wife made for me at home. It could have had a little more spice to it so I took care of that myself! Other than that my wife said she hardly had a wait so service was excellent & the restaurant was clean & beautiful with the tea garden mural which reminded my wife of her artistic dad. So Lovely!!! It was the perfect art for Tea Garden restaurant. My wife can't believe we finally tried it after being in EG for over 30 years. Yes but we don't eat out as much as we used to. Better to cook at home & eat whole foods. So this may be a rare visit but at least it's an option for me bc my wife's diet is so much more strict. At least we know where to go for wor wonton soup! My wife noticed they had quite a few veggie dishes too. So I'm sure we will be back. This is one of those small local businesses that you would like to support. My wife even saw a Yelp picture from 11 years ago!!! Wowza!

The food and service were great! I ordered the lemon chicken dinner combo and fried wontons.

Service was good. The food all came out hot and fresh. My favorite dish was the fried green beans and shrimp. It's got a chill vibe just a nice local Chinese spot.

What was supposed to be Mongolian beef. More like just onions

Ordered Mongolian beef to go. 95% was onions. Hardly any beef. Such a disappointment! Paid $22 for a bunch of sautéed onions.

I was close by at the hair salon with my lady when we decided to eat somewhere close by. She kept this gem hidden from me and I'm sad we didn't come sooner. I ordered the mandarin chicken combo plate which included soup of the day (hot & sour) best I've had, pork fried rice, and chow mein. The chow mein was not greasy but tasted great as did the rice. The mandarin chicken was also superb. The service was great ! Our waiter was attentive, kind, and very welcoming. I should have asked for a 2nd bowl of the soup it was so good. There wasn't too many people but a large birthday party group. It felt really cozy inside and smelled amazing from all the different dishes being made. I will definitely be coming back with my lady when she gets her hair done so we can have this again.

The location and ambience: The Resturant is easy to locate and has plenty of parking. The atmosphere is average, nothing fancy. There are an ample number of booths and tables for patrons. Large group seating would probably be fine if the restaurant is not overly busy. We went before the dinner crowd, around 3:30 on a Friday and we were the only ones there, so we had our pick of booth or table. There were a couple of people that came in to pick up orders while we waited for our dinner. The Food: We ordered several entrees: two different plates: (1) Sweet and Sour Pork Plate and Egg Drop soup(2) Chicken with garlic sauce over rice; fried chicken appetizer; and a to go meal, Tofu with two types of mushrooms. The portions were large and the food was excellent. Waiting time was reasonable given what we ordered, also we were the only ones there. Our food was served hot, not lukewarm. Like I said the portions were large and we ended up with leftovers in addition to the To-Go Meal. I had my tofu and mushroom for dinner the next day and it was very tasty over rice. Service: Sever was friendly and refilled our drinks regularly throughout the course of eating. She answered questions we had about the menu items which helped us with choosing our meals. Our To Go Meal was ready when we were ready to leave and that was a nice surprise that we did not have to wait for it after we finished. Pricing: Individual and combination meal items are reasonably priced, but can add up quickly if you are hungry. There are a plethora of tasty choices on the menu, something for everyone. I plan to eat here again, or do take out. Recommendation: I definitely recommend this restaurant for dinner.

Came out to be about $70, which is absolutely crazy to me, but considering we're in Elk Grove I guess I'm not too surprised. I really liked their shrimp fried rice, it had crunchy rice pieces. The salt and pepper wings, along with the general chicken are pretty standard, nothing amazing. These are safe options that we get for my son. I know when we're hungry we would've ordered more but we didn't this time around. The waitress was really nice, always came to check on us and fill our drinks. The inside was cozy. Really enjoyed the wicker chandeliers and the overall aesthetics of the restaurant. I feel like this establishment is overpriced but again, with the items I ordered they're portioned generously. I will be coming back to try the other menu items that veer off the norm as I think it would be more reasonable price wise. I would say check this establishment out for yourself and try out their items overall to see for yourself.

Tbh, I was a little nervous since there haven't been many recent menu photos or reviews. We took everything to-go, but it was piping hot out of the kitchen and only took about 10 minutes from ordering at the counter to leaving with the goods in-hand. There is plenty of space to dine-in as well. Their menu is huge - almost overwhelming - but they have a little bit of everything. I stopped in specifically for BBQ Pork steamed rice rolls, which can be tough to find at most places outside of a dim sum menu. The price was reasonable (I think $6.75) and it was a great portion. Very flavorful, tender, and a delicious sauce! We also got an order of steamed BBQ pork buns (3 total). Surprisingly, I don't think it was the same meat from the rice rolls but that's OK because it was almost shredded consistency with a good flavor. The bun is a bao-style bun, so less fluffy than my preferred steam bun type but perfectly steamed nonetheless. We ended with an order of sesame balls (3 piece). I was surprised at how much oil was in the to-go container, and a little disappointed that there wasn't more of the sesame coating, but they were so FRESH! I assumed the inside would be red bean but instead it was jelly cubes that reminded me of square boba jellies. Possibly pineapple flavored? It was not my thing but also my fault for not confirming it what was inside. Will definitely be coming back for rice rolls!

The bad - the salt and pepper fish had a great batter, but I feel they're battered too much, and the actual fish piece inside is tiny. My house chow mein didn't have a single shrimp in it. The noodles we had ordered from here a month ago had very good flavor, but not a one note beef flavor.
