Had it once before and loved then food. Ordered online a second time but when I went in one of the employees informed me that some of the recipes had changed and wanted to double check with the owners that the food was safe for me (I had notified them I had a shellfish allergy) The employee was very very sweet and didn't want me having any medical complications. Very respectful and apologized when she learned what I had ordered contained oyster sauce in it. Gave me a full refund and offered free boba drinks read more

One of my favorite places won't even eat Asian food in Lodi anymore because it never lives up to the hidden dumpling.. love their beef and onion dumplings and orange chicken but everything is good read more

My husband wanted some soup after a dentist visit so we found a place with soup. Oh my goodness! What a sweet hidden gem in Elk Grove with a cute simply decorated ambiance. The food was outstanding! We had hot n sour soup, spicy pork dumplings and sesame balls. My husband is still talking about the sesame balls today because they were so good. Their portions are very generous. The soup spoons were a pretty coated ceramic and the silverware was heavy weighted and comfortable, not forgetting to mention they were gold plated. It was like dining at a friend's house instead of a restaurant. The service was prompt and friendly and the three men in the kitchen were working tirelessly. The prices were reasonable. We will definitely be back. I highly recommend Hidden Dumpling House. read more

We've been here a few times and this was one of our go-to Chinese restaurants in Elk Grove. First off, the parking lot here sucks at times and we always had a plan B to go somewhere else if we couldn't find parking. The staff here was nice and helpful. The decor was simple and cozy. Their menu has changed a couple of times since we've first been here a few months ago. We ordered a lot of food over the times we've been here from Shrimp Siu Mai to Pork And Cabbage Dumplings to Xiao Long Bao to Beef Noodle Soup to Mongolian Beef to Garlic Eggplant to Chow Fun to Salt And Pepper Tofu to Honey Walnut Shrimp to Spicy Garlic Green Bean to Mapo Tofu to Mixed Vegetables to Black Pepper Beef. The Xiao Long Bao, Pork and Cabbage, Mongolian Beef, Chow Fun, and Mixed Vegetables were all delicious to us. We tried to order something new each time we ate here to try more of the menu. The restaurant can get busy but we haven't been when there's people waiting to come inside to be seated. Overall, I thought this restaurant was good and we'll be back in the future! read more

Service was very friendly and the cashier explained menu items to me to make sure I knew certain things were different. Food came out fast and the portions were huge for the price points! Inside is small a bit cramped but they had free seating. Plenty of parking outside as well. Attached to a strip mall. read more

Back again and Hidden Dumpling House did not disappoint. A small bistro size establishment, tucked away in a hidden world (Pun intended), willing to put flavor, variety, and quality above all else. Please come and enjoy the wonderful adventure of the palette, experiencing the vibrant culinary vision / performance of the competent chefs' cuisine preperations as everything on the menu is most delicious! The host and servers Sage, Casie, and Charles are beyond unbelievable in their professionalism, abundant hospitality, and unabashed friendliness. Smiles and happy banter overflow at every visit. Hidden dumpling house has been highly talked about, and with their second location opening in midtown, Its been a popular spot for dumplings and Chinese dishes. We came for lunch and immediately noticed how packed it was. Once we were seated, patrons started to leave and we were able to order a sesame chicken lunch plate to share and cilantro chicken dumplings. Our food took quite a while to come out and it wasn't very warm. The sesame chicken was too sweet, rice was mushy, and noodles had no flavor. The dumplings were extremely dry and lacking cilantro. It did have carrots, though! So, if thats your thing you should try it. Overall, I am glad to have finally tried them out, but they're truly nothing to write home about. read more

Very cozy in the busy mini outlets right out of Elk Grove blvd exit. You wouldn't expect to see it until you accidentally come across it, I guess that just goes to show the meaning behind the name of the restaurant haha! This small and quaint place has history with the staff. They seem to be a family owned as they have a lot of charisma with each other. Let alone the entertainment you get while you're eating inside. The open kitchen brings a liveliness and wholesome feeling when you're there. You get to really see the preparation of your food. My food was decently. A bit oily on the deep fried shrimp, but the shrimp was HUGE! Very meaty! The siu mai was the star of the show for me as it was full of flavor and steamed to perfection. The wrap was chewy and cooked all the way through. If I could, I would've just ordered 3 more of that! read more

We came here Wednesday evening and they were not busy. We got in and were immediately greeted and seated. It is a pretty small restaurant with few tables. They have couple tables outside as well. We decided on xiao long bao, beef & onion dumplings and pineapple seafood fried rice. The dumplings and fried rice came out promptly but xiao long bao took longer to come out. Beef dumplings were juicy but i felt the skin was a bit too thick. Fried rice was interesting and flavorful. Xiao long bao was good and solid. We ordered another set of xiao long bao as my boyfriend's mom really loved it. Portion overall was decent. Server was nice and friendly. Even though they were not busy with dine in customers, they had a lot of to-go orders. read more

This is the worst dumping restaurant that I had in the Elk Grove/ Sacramento area. Their dumping are not fresh at all, tough and no taste. If you see people behind to do the dumping, it is just a show and is fake. Being a Chinese, I can tell what's a good and fresh dumping taste like. My wife and I been to the Elk Grove location once, and we both agree that it will be our last time to be there. There are a lot more dumping places to go to. read more

Food is great and affordable. Dumplings are great or you can also get anything on the menu and will not be disappointed. The staff are always so kind and the service is excellent! It reminds you of a restaurant in Asia, which is so nostalgic for us. With that being said it is small on the inside so not really a great place for large groups. The parking can be limited depending on when you go as the strip it's located has some really awesome businesses. read more

Tried this place out with my gf and it was pretty good! The dining area is small and limited, so you may not be able to get a seat if the place was busy. Ive been here twice and havent had to wait for a table. Ive sat at the big table and small table and you most likely struggle with space if you order more than 3 plates. Everything was tasty and the deluxe fried rice was especially delicious! We also got the siu mai and xiaolong bao. Siu mai was tasty but nothing special. Just exactly as I expected. Then of course, the xiaolong bao. It tasted good, but we've definitely had better. The xiaolong bao here doesn't contain as much broth as other places we have been to. It was still tasty and contained a decent amount of broth, but the skin was pretty thin and would sometimes break while we tried to pick up the xiaolong bao. The xiaolong bao also comes with its own dipping, but we don't prefer it because it is sort of sour. We prefer soy sauce and chili oil instead. Overall, it is a good small spot and we would come back for the deluxe fried rice! Will need to try the rest of the menu! read more

I'm sitting here right now finishing my meal and had to immediately leave a review. This food is SO DELICIOUS !!!!!! The portions are great and easy to share. Even the one combo dinner along with the apps was PLENTY of food for two people. We will have leftovers for sure. The server we had was so friendly and attentive. Our food came out super fast and was piping hot. The orange chicken was definitely the best orange chicken I've ever had and I am a connoisseur of orange chicken. So this means a lot. lol. I'm just so impressed by how much flavor everything has. The rice is flavorful and cooked perfectly. The chow mein noodles were fresh tasting and cooked perfectly and was also well flavored. The chicken was also cooked perfectly and had a nice crispy fried coating but wasn't greasy. Everything had actual layers of flavor. Someone back there knows what they are doing with this food. Their chefs deserve lots of praise. We will absolutely be back next time we are in town. I can't wait to try some of their boba and teas next time. This place is a must try if you're in the area! Don't miss out. read more

I will say I never expected mapo tofu to taste like this, to taste this good and go unknown to me is sad and shameful judging of what I thought would be. I loved the flavor on it, but I will say if it is advertised as spicy I dont want mild I want a bit of a kick to it, maybe they tone it down cause they see my pale complexion and guess that I find bell peppers spicy you never know. Service was ok, and it was a chill spot in general. Twas a date with the Misses. read more

Decent dumpling place in EG - small seating area but friendly and local staff, with authentic and well-made dishes that taste fresh and in-house. Prices are pretty high (nearly bay area). Parking is adjacent in the strip-mall and can be limited during busy hours. Food is decent and reasonable, if you're in the area and looking for a straightforward and crowd-pleasing dinner, this is a solid choice. Recommended. read more

I was in the area running errands and decided to stop by because I hadn't had lunch and it was already after 3pm on a weekday. I walked in and the team immediately greeted me and asked if I was dining in or picking up. I opted to order takeout since I still had some meetings and had to get home. I ordered potstickers (8 for $9.99), XLB (8 for $14.99), General Tso's chicken ($14.59), and pork chow fun ($12.99 + $4 for pork). I paid $73.81 total after tax and tip. I hung out to wait for the food and it didn't take too long for it to be ready. They packed everything with care and I drove home to enjoy everything. I was so hungry that I ate the potstickers on the way home and they were crunchy, but definitely wanted sauce. I should have waited until I got home but I still enjoyed them fresh and hot. The XLB was delicious and still juicy after my drive home, these we enjoyed with the sauce and it's always a great flavor combination. The General Tso's I ordered was a large portion of just the entree (no rice) but had a great flavor and was really saucy. I ended up mixing the chicken with some of the chow fun noodles and that was a great combination. The chow fun was delicious, but I think I would go without the added pork next time, especially since I mixed some of the chicken with it. All this food was easily enough for two people to have multiple meals. The restaurant itself was cute and had coloring pages from customers on the walls. The parking lot was busy but big enough to find a spot relatively easily and even though it was a weird hour they had a steady stream of pick up orders. read more

My husband and I went to Hidden Dumpling House for dinner last weekend and had a nice time! It was my husband's second time here and my first, and we lucked out by getting the last table. I was happy to see that the restaurant was so busy! The menu had a lot of selections, but we decided to share an order of green beans, a dinner combo plate with general tsao chicken, and an order of XLB. While we were waiting for the food, more people came in to wait for tables while others placed to-go orders or picked up for food delivery. There was definitely steady business throughout our visit. The green beans and combo plate arrived pretty quickly. You can peer right into the kitchen and see (and smell) your food being cooked. After a while of waiting for our dumplings, we checked in with the waitress, who apologized after asking the cooks that they forgot to make the order. Timing-wise, it kind of worked out. We got to enjoy the green beans and combo plate and then the fresh steamed dumplings arrived at the end. We appreciated the portions and flavor of everything and I can see why business was so good. Aside from the forgotten order, service was great and I'd recommend visiting! read more

Although this is a "dumpling house," I don't recommend coming here for their dumplings. Their Chinese food is passable though and I actually enjoyed the Beef Broccoli & String Beans. The other Chinese items are also okay. It's a small place so I don't recommend coming with a large group during busy hours. The parking lot is always packed so I recommend carpooling if you can. read more

I've ordered takeout here before, but today was my first time dining in. The restaurant is a bit small inside, but we didn't have to wait long for a table since we came on a Tuesday. Our food and drinks were delicious. Good portions on the food. The service was a little slow--I had to ask someone for a refill on water and for our check, but the restaurant might have been short-staffed. The employees were nice though. I think I'd prefer to order takeout from here than dine in. read more

Hidden Dumpling House - General Tso Chicken with chow mein so fresh & very tasty!! - Chinese Near Me - Elk Grove, California

I decided to try Hidden Dumpling with my son at 9635 E Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove, CA 95624. I only ordered three items-combination chow fun, pork bun and a Thai boba tea drink. They have a pretty good menu and there were plenty of customers and to go orders, but no sweet and sour pork dishes, only chicken. This was a big disappointment to me, as that's what I came in for. Now I do want to mention the service was stellar and the restaurant was clean. Now for the food review-I didn't like it! The drink was pretty good, but way too sweet for me. The chow fun looked and tasted on the greasy side and the combination portion was little chopped up pieces. The noodles were thick, which is what I like. The pork bun was freshly made (3 large buns to an order) and was good but the filling was some type of a hand rolled pate. It did not taste good to me, nor did it even resemble a pork filling. I tried their sweet and sour sauce, which greatly improved the taste. I looked at other customers orders and they looked OK but a bit on the greasy side. Portion sizes are huge for the price. I note a lot of great reviews on this place and some not so great, mostly from Elite Reviewers. Maybe it's just me-give the place a try and see what you think. read more

If you're here for a good deal and Chinese food hidden in Dumpling House is the place to go. They have a lunch and dinner deal where you can choose a plate and for an additional $4, you can get chow mein, fried rice, and l an eggroll. I got the sesame chicken combo plate and it was decent. 6.5/10 The staff are super friendly, so that's why this place deserves a 4/5 stars. read more

Didn't deserve a 3. It was conflicting. So I went generous with the 4. Stopped by here to give this place a try: Honey walnut shrimp: 5/5 this was delicious. Light coating. Not overly sweet. Cooked great. Siu mai - I'm not sure what was it but Everytime I grabbed it with chopsticks the shrimp at the top kept popping off. Taste was good. Size a bit small. But all in all. 4/5 Soup dumpling - it tasted fine. The problem was. They were all stuck to the paper so when I tried to grab it to eat. It easily tore and the soup drained. 3/5. I didn't try the condiment they gave. I opted for the chili oil on the table which was delicious. Staff was attentive and friendly. It was by no means bad. Hence I didn't think a 3 was deserving. But wasn't quite a 4. read more

Such great service here and the food is amazing and sooooo so fresh!! The server was phenomenal and so helpful!

Walked into a packed house! Always a good sign. One server who was crushing it. Seated; we had time to look over the menu- wish we had time and room to order one of every thing. Food flew out hot and fresh. Garlic eggplant was a highlight. Large chunks of Japanese eggplant, well cooked but not mushy - perfect spicy deliciousness. We ordered takeout for Lunar new year, and the food was delicious. Fried rice was some of the best we have ever had, and the Peking spare ribs had great flavor. However the spare ribs are fried with the bones and cartilage on them--which made eating it kind of difficult as multiple times I bit into bone thinking it was meat. It was gross, and otherwise the food was so good I wanted to enjoy it even more! It was easy to order online and we had no trouble with pickup. read more

I would say this is more of a chinese takeout restaurant than a dumpling place. Their prices are more on the expensive side but because everything I ordered was phenomenal I had to give it 5 stars. read more

The food is solid. Honey walnut shrimp, general tso chicken, the dumplings, all are good. Just not spectacular. Which would normally leave me at 4 stars, but there's pretty consistently a long wait. I asked for some dumpling (not sure which ones) and they said those would be 15-20 minutes. So I asked which ones would be the quickest and ordered those, being told it'd be roughly 5-10 minutes. I was there for more than 25-30 minutes for a to-go order. I just felt like a dumpling house would have a pretty streamlined dumpling-making process. Normally I'd put it off as a one-time occurrence but it's been the last two visits. Dumplings also pricey for what you get. The place itself is nice too, pretty clean, server was a nice fellow. read more
