Chef Bo is a current favorite place for dine in and future to-go orders for fresh, well portioned and prepared quality Chinese food in Elk Grove. The Braised fish filet in clay pot and sizzling combination platter are standouts when dining in. Their chow fun dishes are crowd pleasers and if you like eggplant, don't miss getting the Eggplant in spicy garlic sauce. All their dishes that have been ordered have all been very enjoyable and looking forward in trying more of their menu which is sometimes hard to do once you find your favorites. When dining in, the staff are friendly, personable and attentive. Our order was served up steamy hot and promptly. Hot tea was also served up fresh and hot. The restaurant is clean with modern decor and is located in a mid-sized strip mall right next to REI and a few other restaurants and shops. Parking was ample and easy with plenty of shaded areas, read more

A big favorite of my family's and mine. We're big fans of the wonton soup, the chicken chow mein, chicken fried rice, chicken chow mein and orange chicken. (We... like chicken, can you tell ?) There's more but I'd run out of room. Going back to the winton soup--we've gone there in 90° weather for it. That has to say something. Very attentive staff, friendly and always remember our orders. That means a lot, too. We will be back, unquestionably. read more

Just ok. In fairness, I only ordered one dinner, so my sample size is small. I got the sweet and sour chicken with an egg roll and vegetable Chow Mein. The egg roll was more of a spring roll, but was fine. The Chow Mein was ok. It had a few pieces of bell peppers, and one piece of carrot. I was kind of disappointed in the entree. The chicken was VERY heavily breaded. Way more batter than chicken. I'll put it this way, if a group of my friends wanted to eat here I would probably go with them, but I likely wouldn't choose to return here by myself. read more

Went here for lunch, everything was delicious as always. I always love their food, it never disappoints. When we walked in, they had a few customers dining it. It looks like a majority of people got their lunch plate. I originally came here for that but they didn't have the salt & pepper fish so I just did a full order. The restaurant stays pretty quiet, it wasn't overly loud with other customers dining in. I highly recommend this spot, everything taste fresh and the flavor is always there. read more

Mom and I were in the mood for Chinese and we don't eat it very often anymore. There were several places to choose from in elk Grove and boy did we score First of all this is the best honey walnut shrimp I've ever had. The shrimp are huge, generous, and juicy. The sauce is so tangy and awesome, but the highlight of this dish is the walnuts which are amazing. We had the standard fair of chow mein and fried rice and it did not disappoint. You forget what really good fried rice and chow mein taste like with so much panda express in the world these days Highly recommend. read more

Something changed, food and taste has drastically gone down. This use to be our go to place. After last order we will never come back due to really disgusting experience that led to throwing out entire take out when got home. read more

The first time we went it was ok, not great but good enough, so we went back the second time and ordered mapo tofu and chicken and mushrooms. And this time, it was terrible. It had a weird super dark gravy and cheap ingredients. It was mostly gravy. I would not go back. read more

I didn't feel like cooking, and my girls were craving noodles for dinner, so we decided to order takeout from Chef Bo. We ordered the beef chow fun and the BBQ pork chow mein. When I arrived to pick up the order around 4pm, the restaurant was pretty empty, which was expected for that time of day. The prices were very reasonable, and my girls really enjoyed the noodles. I tried some later and thought the beef chow fun had great flavor, and the noodles had the perfect texture. The chow mein was also tasty, but I personally preferred the chow fun. Overall, this will definitely be one of my go to spots for Chinese takeout when I don't want to cook and just need something simple, quick, and satisfying for the kids. read more

My husband and I moved to Elk Grove a couple years ago and tried some other Chinese restaurants in the area but this is by far the favorite. They are really accommodating to vegetarians (the sweet and sour fried tofu is my favorite) as well. Highly recommend this place and have taken lots of family members who come from out of town here. The servers are always friendly, the food has always been good, and it's a very clean and seemingly well-looked after place. read more

Food is tasty and came very quickly. For the price, it is good portion and was a quicker seating than Shabu Gen. I enjoyed the ambiance and the variety of choices. Great value. Service was fast. read more

My husband and I have been wanting to try this place out. Service was great and friendly. We got seated right away on a Sunday night. The food portions were good sizes for sharing! Highly recommend the house fried rice, salt and pepper pork chops and the Mongolian beef dishes!! Our all time favorite was the salt and pepper pork chops! So flavorful and everything paired well with each other. The ambiance was nice, great place for families or group of friends to grab good Chinese food! We even got a small slice of cake after we paid for our check! Perfect dessert to top off our meal! read more

Great little neighborhood spot for Chinese good to dine in or take out. Easy to get in and ample parking as well. The dining area has plenty of seating. Their lunch specials are hearty. I got broccoli beef w/half steam rice and half chow mein. Cones with soup and a cheese wonton. All for $11.75...great deal! The food quality is good...and portion size will mean I get great leftovers (midnight snack!). Definitely will be on my regular rotation! read more

Came a bit before 6, pretty spacious inside not many ppl. We ordered beef fried rice, wet beef chow fun, happy family and fish clay pot. It came out VERY fast, prob like 5-10 minutes after we ordered tbh. Overall, it was all very mid. The chow fun was disappointing, the noodles were all stuck tgt very thick, so it was not full cooked (or the noodles were jus old) and bland. The flavor was alright for the chow fun, could def use a bit more. The happy family wws a variety of things, veggie meat seafood mushrooms and stuff, same flavoring as chow fun. The fried rice honestly i couldnt taste anything and the rice grains were a bit crunchy. The clay pot was decent, fried fish and tofu, decent flavoring. We did get one hot tea, their drinks other than water do cost extra. Overall wouldnt come back, prices are pretty decent but taste wise it just wasnt it for us lol. read more

I came right in with the expectation that I will be eating family style dishes of 2 for myself. But when I walked in, I was attracted to their Lunch Specials. At the time the Hot Sour Soup was the soup of the day. I ordered Shrimp Broccoli and Fried Rice. Not bad. I enjoyed it. But wouldve been nice if I purchased dishes that I was craving for before walking in. But it satisified my hunger. Maybe next time Ill try the other dishes. The price is pretty good being that it is a Lunch Special. Love it. read more

Chef Bo has become a regular dining spot for us, and overall the experience has been consistently good. The service stands out as friendly and attentive, and the area itself makes it a comfortable place to sit down and enjoy a meal. It's the kind of place that works well for both casual dinners and routine weekly visits. Our go-to orders usually include the honey walnut shrimp, beef chow fun, and beef fried rice. The portions are satisfying and the dishes come out reliably enjoyable, making it easy to stick with the same favorites each time. Overall, it's a dependable spot that we find ourselves coming back to regularly. read more

When I walked in I was quickly invited to have a seat at a table. I looked at the menu and decided to try the 2 for $38. I didn't like the additional fee for Mongolian beef. The wonton soup was okay. I'd say just average. The pork chow mein was not too oily but flavor was about average. The sweet and sour pork was crunchy so over done with the breading. The Mongolian beef wasn't worth the additional fee. I liked the fried bun even though I got it last. The foil wrapped chicken was good but the appetizers were the last to arrive. Not a fan as there are other Chinese food restaurants nearby. read more

Came here after a church meeting with a large group. It's far from the best traditional or Americanized Chinese I've had, but for the price and portion sizes, it is a great value. The staff are very friendly and the are quick. We ordered a lot of items to share. We got the Happy Family which was a gloopy mixed vegetable dish, but good with rice. The hot and sour soup tasted like a handful of white pepper. The shrimp in the walnut shrimp is a good size. The pan fried Hong Kong style chow mein is also gloopy and crunchy. Yes, it's not fancy, but if you are looking to fill up on a budget, this is a good option. read more

We decided in that typical couples conversation, (what should we get for dinner ? Thai, Chinese, Sushi, burgers etc.) to get some Chinese food. I am always on the lookout for another exceptional Chinese restaurant We always get leftovers and the dining experience is multi faceted. By this I mean you get the taste of sweet and spicy ,noodles and vegetables and multiple meats all in the same meal. We got the Chef's Specials with Sweet and Sour Chicken, Won Ton Soup, Chicken Fried Rice , Beef with Broccoli and egg rolls. A pretty good deal for $38.00 and a generous portion of food. After we got the food home, my impression was that the food was ok, just nothing to yell to the heavens about. I will say it was a little better the second day, will I go back ? At this point I may just go to Panda instead, read more

I went here on a whim with my boyfriend and the food here is super good! It's family-style so that means BIG portions with great food! It's not too oily, it's just enough, it doesn't make me feel full/sick after like other Chinese food restaurants! The service here is super quick and they're so nice, I love their recommendations and they're super quick to know what we want! During the couple times I went here, it's been fairly empty which makes me sad and hope that they are getting good business! Please try them out! read more

Wow! Yelp has come through again with this excellent Chinese restaurant i. Elk Grove. Everything was delicious but especially the Chow Fun with thick rice noodles that I have never had before. Also the rice is Jasmine long grain which is especially tasty. The meal ended with small delicious serving of tiramisu and fortune cookies. The service is excellent and very friendly. Chef Bo is located in the shopping center with Best Buy and Old Navy so parking is plentiful. The restaurant is warm, clean, and spacious. We've dined at Chef Bo's several times. They're friendly and attentive. And, the dishes are fresh and reasonably priced. At our most recent visit, we tried the Beef chow fun and braised beef stew noodle soup. Both were good but the seasoning was a bit lacking in balance and flavor for our taste. read more

Probably one of the best vegetable chow mein I've had!! Tried their vegetable chow mein once and I've been back so many times already! Noodles are cooked perfectly - soft but not too soft. The flavor of the chow mein is perfect and so delicious! This time, we decided to give their eggplant in hot garlic sauce a try! The dish was okay. It was greasy without much flavor. We did appreciate the variety of vegetables in the dish. Portions are generous and price super reasonable! We've only ordered to go but would love to dine in and try their other vegetarian dishes next time! Been eyeing their vegetable egg foo young! read more

Chef Bo in Elk Grove really surprised me. I ordered the salted fish and chicken fried rice and it was easily one of the best I've ever had. I've been dining at Chef Bo regularly, and it's quickly become one of my favorite spots in Elk Grove for Chinese food. The quality of the meat is excellent, and the chicken consistently stands out as better than most around the area, well‑seasoned, tender, and served in generous portions that leave you satisfied. The menu has a great variety, from Mongolian beef to honey walnut chicken, and the balance of flavors is spot on, with many dishes preparing ingredients in a way that feels fresh rather than overly heavy or greasy. Service is friendly and attentive, with staff that make you feel welcome whether you're dining in or ordering takeout or delivery. Portions are large, prices are reasonable, and even with a full house, meals come out in a timely way. We even went there for Christmas dinner and it was a memorable meal, hearty, flavorful, and exactly the kind of comfort food you want for a special occasion. With a strong track record of positive reviews and consistent quality across the menu, Chef Bo is a reliable go‑to for great Chinese cuisine in Elk Grove. read more
