I'm honestly disappointed in myself for not coming here sooner. After passing by this spot so many times, I finally decided to give it a try and I'm genuinely glad I did. Their pho broth is absolutely delicious. The shrimp spring rolls are fresh and amazing, and even the peanut sauce is perfect (not overly peanut-y). I like to add a little of their chili oil to it... yummm! Their drinks are also incredible. The Vietnamese coffee and avocado shakes are so good. I also decided to step out of the box and try a banh mi at a pho restaurant, and it did NOT disappoint. I ordered the beef banh mi -- the bread was perfectly toasted, the beef was tender and full of flavor, and the vegetables inside paired so well with the meat. Good service & good food. This place is okay. Most of the food was decent. My pho was average at best. The broth by itself wasn't great, but wasn't bad. I've had better and have had worse. The portion was good for me, but the large didn't look like a large size from other restaurants. The mango salad was probably the best dish of the night. I really enjoyed it and our table finished the whole thing. The rice plates are good. I tried a piece of the grilled chicken and it had great flavor. The nuoc mam/Cham tasted great as well. What really made this place 3 stars was their egg rolls. I love egg rolls. But the one served to us either had spoiled meat, old meat or was freezer burnt. Whatever it was, it tasted so bad I did not finish it. It had a really off putting fried spoiled meat taste AND smell. And was really oily. Thinking about it makes my stomach churn. I've heard about this place from family and friends so I finally decided to give it a try. With our favorite pho restaurant closing last year I've been on the hunt to find something similar in taste and conveniently close. We got our food to go, not my #1 choice, and I made sure to order a large Pho Tai (noodles & rare steak) to share with my toddler. I don't prefer ordering to go as the portions don't seem nearly as comparable as you'd get in person. Then once you're home if something is wrong or missing you're kind of SOL. Upon opening my to go box immediately I was disappointed in the color of my bean sprouts. They were gray and dark brown with very few still in decent shape to eat. These should have been tossed days ago. Growing up in a Vietnamese household where my grandma was making pho frequently I know what quality ingredients should look like. And on top of that I got ONE packet of hoisin sauce, ONE! I feel they should adjust how many packets to provide based on the size of the pho being ordered. Remember, I got a large. All in all, after eating my pho with the few edible bean sprouts surprisingly I enjoyed it. Broth was better than all the other places I've tried and rare steak was nice and thin. We tried to order a child's pho at the beginning to go for my son. They don't do kids pho to go. Apparently when you try to order pho to go, you can only get large sizes. I get it but what I waste. I recently decided to give this Pho place a try and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and value of the food. Had the number 19 large pho which was large enough to share. Ingredients were fresh, lots of noodles and meat. I could have used more fresh veggies, like jalapeños, and sprouts on the side. Broth was flavorful and came out pipping hot. From a converted Ramen fan. I won't claim to preferring Pho over Ramen now but I can at least say that I can enjoy either one and there isn't a clear favorite. I was probably scorned from a few not so good Pho places before but the complaints I had previously were resolved here (flavorless broth, weird tasting meatballs, etc). Opted for the #13 Combination Pho (Large) and it did not disappoint, the broth was flavorful and they did not skimp on all cuts of beef, tripe and tendon. Finished as much as I could but still had some left over to take home. We also got an order of their egg roll appetizer which was just as delicious -- crunchy and each bite had equal amounts of filling. Overall, i'd say this place was great. I honestly felt like they may have served me old/leftover food from the day before. I ordered a Pho Tai. The broth was fine. The beef, however, was overcooked, dry, and tough. There was also some extra beef bits coating on it, not sure why as I don't usually see that. The noodles were hard and stuck together despite my efforts to loosen them up in the hot broth. Also, if you are craving Pho Ga for the chicken soup, don't order it here. They use the beef broth to make their chicken noodle soup. Recently moved to this side of town and was craving some Viet food and found that this was the closest one in my area. Ordered a shrimp vermicelli bowl and shrimp spring rolls, both came out to a total of approximately $23, which is quite typical nowadays...sadly. With the amount paid, I would say the portion for the vermicelli bowl was pretty good considering that the shrimp was very tasty (and they didn't skimp on it!) and they loaded the bowl with veggies (which I personally prefer as it adds a variety of textures). I cannot necessarily say the same for the spring roll as it was quite thin and small considering it being $7-8 for 2 pieces. I would recommend sizing it up (if they want to keep the count) or add a roll. I ordered the items for take out so I cannot say much about the service but the staff who assisted me were quick and kind. The restaurant looked clean as well so I would definitely come by again to try their dine-in service. read more

I am obsessed with their bun Bo hue, but I wanted to give their pho a try. I am never disappointed by this place. They aren't shy about their portions and it's always coming out fresh and hot. Gave it some time before trying Pho Basil after seeing the signage/banner that Pho Dynasty had changed. About 8 tables of people dining on at lunchtime on a Sunday. At the counter I had to wait a few minutes before being helped. Got one order of the #26 grilled pork over vermicelli noodles ($12.50) and one order of the #13 Combination pho (only comes in the $14.50 Large size, and has a $1.50 upcharge) to go. Estimated wait time provided was 30 minutes. The grilled pork didn't have much of a char, was more of a "dry" BBQ flavor. The fish sauce was pretty weak/flat. The large combination pho broth was OK, only one beef ball in the whole container but otherwise had all the fixings: rare steak, flank, brisket, tendon, tripe, Basil, beansprouts, jalapeño, white and green onions, cilantro, hoisin, Sriracha, chili oil. Generous amount of noodles. Since Pho Le closed, we're still hunting for a decent Vietnamese spot around Elk Grove. So far, Pho Ivy is the winner. There is another Vietnamese place opening up I think near El Super Taco and T% so that may be next up on the list to check out. read more

Came here during the week, with the family for dinner. Used to come to the old restaurant that used to be here, so we wanted to see what took it's place and what we could expect. Arrived about an hour before closing, and we were seated quickly. It was a quieter evening which wasn't bad, and we looked over the menus for a bit. Because we frequent other local Vietnamese restaurants, and are familiar with the common dishes it didn't take us long to figure out what we wanted. But it did take a little while to actually be seen to order; especially with the fact there were only a few other patrons. Maybe they assumed we weren't familiar with the dishes or whatever, but we knew pretty quickly. And then just waited for someone to come see if werl were ready. My boys went with two different types of Pho, my girlfriend ordered a Vermicelli noodle dish and I got a Pork Ban Mi sandwich. What was a little different was Pho Basil's was their Passion Fruit Soda. It sounded and looked interesting so I gave it a try, and it was really good. The sweetness of the fresh Passion Fruit puree, along with the carbonation of the soda. Made for an interesting drink spin. My boys went with a strawberry drink they typically get. And my girlfriend chose a classic Thai Tea. Overall: Nice upgrades to the old places, and a more likely feel with color and lighting. This location was originally Pho Dynasty but has since made a comeback with new management, simple and clean decor, and attentive staff. The food here is simple, clean, and aesthetically pleasing. The big open windows really help put a pop into the photos! The pho broth was clean, fragrant, light, and full of umami. We decided to pay the newly opened pho basil a visit after seeing that they just took over pho dynasty . We came in during dinner time and there were about 4 tables filled . They had a sign on the front door stating they are not serving stir fry's at the moment, which was all good because we really just wanted soup . Upon walking in , we were greeted and seated . Their menu was simple and straightforward , but they don't have a drink menu as of yet . We kept it simple and ordered their crispy taro salad,bun bo hue, and an iced coffee to share . Everyone who came after us received their orders before us , and after 30-35 minutes of waiting , our food finally came . I felt like their crispy taro salad had too much going on . It came with a side of fish sauce , but the salad was already mixed with dressing . There was really no base, it just had deep fried taro strips , bell peppers, mint , shrimp and fried onions . As for the bun Bo hue, it tasted like spicy water. Its typically a spicy lemongrass based soup, but I couldn't taste the lemongrass . Overall, I think they gave plenty to work on .
