This is a very popular spot here in Elk Grove and loved by many. It has a fully stocked bar for Mongolian BBq with two pricing. Single $16.95 & $20.95 for unlimited. They have a nice lunch menu for either $15.95 or $16.96 - HUGE PORTIONS!!! Each plate we ordered was screaming flavor. MSG perhaps? It didn't bother us for every bite was delightful. My son had the Mongolian BBQ and he was happy too. It was pretty packed but service was fast. Not necessary the friendliest encounter with the staff but not unpleasant either. They just didn't smile much.

This place used to be the spot for me back in middle and high school, so coming back as an adult definitely felt nostalgic. I really hope it continues to thrive -- I've heard they've been around for over 20 years, which is impressive! On this visit, I went with the Mongolian BBQ. One of the most fun parts is the concept: you pay a set price and get to fill your bowl to the absolute max before handing it off to the chef to cook on the big round griddle. I loaded mine up with beef and lamb, and it turned out delicious. I also love that it comes with your choice of soup, plus rice, an egg roll, and wonton chips. For around $20, you're getting a meal that could easily stretch into two or even three servings. That's a steal, especially considering the interactive experience. Overall, I highly recommend this place. I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu!

I pass by this restaurant all the time when I am in Elk Grove and I had to check it out this time. I ordered their Mongolian bbq to go. It is the normal and expected layout. I added beef, chicken, broccoli, yellow onions, and green onions in my bowl. Overall, 7/10. It came with fried rice 4/10. Vegetable egg roll 5/10. It costed $20 which is very pricy for what it is. The inside could use some renovation as inside was very dark and felt old.

I ordered my food 20 minutes before closing and arrived after they had closed. The lady that helped me was so kind and was very patient with me. She noticed I had a baby with me and told me next time if I call she would bring the food out to me instead of me taking my baby out the car. The service was 5 stars for me and the lady insisted that she carry the food to the car for me. I ordered the Deluxe Dinner and it did not disappoint at all. Instead of the beef with mushroom I substituted it for beef broccoli. Everything was flavorful and well seasoned and the portion size was great for the price. I will be coming back to try some more of their dishes.

Peony palace is a neighborhood friendly restaurant. They have a lot of regulars that frequent the restaurant. I went on a Wednesday night and sat at a booth near the back . I had braised chicken and fried rice, my son had the Mongolian bbq. Everything was fresh and hot. My son stood and watched the guy cooking his Mongolian bbq on the big round grill in the middle of the restaurant - which was fun for him. Service was good, food was good and they give you nice size portions. Some people complain that the employees aren't that nice - they can be a little stand offish at times, but if you go there often you get used to it and they are for the most part very nice. I enjoy the restaurant and will keep going back.

Customer service 4.7 Food 4.6 I've been going here for YEARS but because they're part of our neighborhood it never came across my mind to write a review. So here it goes... A quaint little restaurant that has been unassuming off the corner of Franklin & Whitelock (which was originally Poppy Ridge). Has your typical Chinese food but also a Mongolian (build your own) setup. But the review will only be for their Chinese food. After entering (on their left door), you'll be greeted by usually who is tending the bar (yep a local "watering hole" too). Their menu has a wide selection of choices based upon if you want meat, seafood, or vegetarian. There are your typical favorites available and House specials. My favorites: is the Peony Beef but you you want pork the do the Peking style spareribs, either one is fried then glazed over with a sweet sauce. But the best bang for your buck is their dinner selections (for 2) since you get appetizers, soup, rice, chow mein, and two different dishes based upon which dinner you choose choose from: Canton, Mandarin or Deluxe). If there are more than 4 people then just order an extra dish separately and not from within the dinner selections add-on, so you get something you really want. This evening we added the Fried tofu with mixed veggies. Along with my wife's go-to the Canton Dinner (pictured) with Broccoli beef and Sweet Sour chicken (sauce on the side). We've almost tried everything on the menu and haven't had a bad meal here...it's comfort food when I don't want to cook at home. BTW attentive servers but they also let you enjoy your meal as a couple or family.

We heard about this place through some friends when we were in the Elk Grove area. We had to check it out because we love Mongolian barbecue. This place was good. My husband went and got two rounds of the noodles. He noticed that the ingredients were fully stocked, the food was made quickly and fresh to order. He said it was delicious. My mother-in-law got the sweet-and-sour pork and I got the lemon chicken. Everything was so good. We ended up having to get boxes because the portions were very big. I was able to enjoy this the next day. Our server was kind, kept checking in on us and cracked a few jokes which we appreciated. Inside was clean and they have a really cute sign that you can't miss. There's parking in the parking lot and I recommend that you check this place out.

Family friendly place, and every time I request the hot plate to be cleaned it is done without attitude or hesitation. The drinks here hit the spot, and the food here does not lack in flavor. Parking can be difficult at times due to other businesses being busy in the small lot.

Small portions, nice presentation, not good.

I do not write bad reviews, very often. From the moment we walked in we did not feel welcome. Mind you this is a Tuesday at noon, there was only one other customer there, not busy. Our server was put out as if we were in her way. There was a young male that came by once in between that was super friendly. On top of the unwelcome we received the food was not good. Portions were small, egg roll was crisp on the outside but extra mushy inside, chow mein was greasy. All 4 of us agreed about the service ( which I can overlook if the food is good) and the not so good food. Hopefully others have a better experience.

Very friendly staff. if you come in every Friday after work, you will see the same return customers. It's truly a community gem and meeting place. Drinks are strong and well-made and you must try. Ed's nuts.

They are always so very busy, so don't expect customer service there, just great food. Licious has the exact opposite, great service and okay food. We ordered the following: Szechuan green beans- cooked perfectly with a crunch still. Lacked flavor- not spicy. Fish and tofu clay pot- the fish tasted sweet, oddly. The fried tofu was perfect. Juicy and soft, Beef short ribs skillet- very fatty. You are paying for fat. Maybe it was a bad day. Tiger prawns with pumpkin- it is battered with salted egg, but it's not that salty. I wish it was saltier because I love salted egg. Battered and fried perfectly!!! The Tiger prawns are HUGE!!!!!! I've never eaten such big prawns in my life. The pumpkin was so soft and sweet with the perfect crunch from the salted egg batter. IT JUST NEEDED MORE SALT. Lots of pumpkin! Lobster- lacked flavor and was a very small lobster with not a lot of meat. Salt and pepper fried tofu for appetizer- yummy yummy. Perfect. Whole roasted duck- flavor was perfect, but the skin texture was stale. It wasn't like how it tastes at Tealicious. I don't know why the skin wasn't crunchy. Shrimp and egg chow fun- lacked flavor and too wet. Service was amazing for our two tables total of 18. They kept checking on us and even packed all of our food. There were two servers and only 3 other small tables with ours. The restaurant is quite small and is only for up to I believe 35 people on Theo occupant load signage. I would come back if I craved the Tiger prawns with pumpkin, but nothing else we tried. Maybe I'll try the fried rice next time and do an updated review.

I was feeling late night snacks so I got sweet-n-sour shrimp (my fave), salt-n-pepper wings (bc why not), and Mandarin chicken because the photos looked so good. Here's my opinion. Shrimp was perf. I love when they are straight and tailess with puffy/crunchy batter, the serving was legit too. The wings were yummy but a once in a while thing I would order if you ask me. The batter is thick and super crisp like a shell and so salty and flavorful in a good way. Came with lots of onions and jalapeños as it should and they chicken itself had a nice almost garlic marinated flavor. The chicken itself was piping hot and the best part. Just 'a lot' to eat-eat for a dinner. The Mandarin chicken was my least favorite just because it was a bit sweet for my liking. The upside is all their chicken this style is always big juicy all white breast meat chunks, nothing unrecognizable. My boys loved it, me not so much due to sweetness and being bready. All in all I still love this place and it is consistently good. If you love orange chicken get that for sure. When I picked up it was a tad warm inside the restaurant. They had the back door open in the kitchen, and it was 103 as a high so it wasn't refreshing to sit down and eat there.

Now In My Top 10 Chinese Restaurants In The Country!…read more SITREP This was THE perfect spot for our "Crazy Rich Asian"-crew (btw, I'm an official adoptee by these peeps in spite of my Italian-Mexican-French bearing *cough*) to celebrate the 2ND COMING (or it the 5th? Maybe the 20th??) of our dear dear friend, Hawaiian Elite TERRY K. coming back to visit with us! THE SETUP Such an incredible restaurant with great seating to support an incredible array of Chinese dishes and beverages! I'm actually in agreement with my friend & fellow Yelper David V. who said, "This place is like a high-quality Panda Express. Is that a good thing? You decide!" And David is right! By that I enthusiastically interpret his opinion as Tea Garden being incredibly ACCESSIBLE to every palette of customer: from those who are just casual Chinese food eaters, to the far FAR more demanding Asian appetites of friends who have much more experience with the wide diversity of Chinese cuisine and know how to ask for it, focusing on seafood, chicken, beef, vegetables, noodes, chilis, spice! PARKING AND "Parking"! It's kind of wild, but I find this more and more to be the case with great ethnic cuisine establishments, that delicious restaurants such as this find themselves in a STRIP MALL. Hey, nothing wrong with that, either! Cheaper rent means cheaper prices on the restaurant food. It ALSO often means tons of free plaza parking as in this case. So much for the car parking, not about where you "park" yer butt! We had a crew of eight (8) and all of us came with the attitude of "Let's try as many dishes as we can!": the large round tables with the large lazy-susans were the best method to make that plan work. If you are only 2-4 people, regular seating at rectangular tables will work just find. THE FOOD! And as I indicated earlier, we had a plethora of dishes: * Delicious broth & veggie soup to start * Crispy Eggrolls with Sweet & Sour Sauce * Crispy Shrimp with Sweet Chili Sauce * Chinese Chicken Caesar Salad * Fried Rice with Chicken & Shrimp * Broccoli Beef * Chicken Tso Chicken....and.... ...I can't remember what else! There was a LOT, but it becomes a blur after all the chicken and beef and shrimp and eggrolls I was devouring! THE LOWDOWN Suffice it to say, if you come with friends and an appetite, you are going to be soooo satiated! And in addition, I lucked out since half our friends were from the Bay Area and they sent me home with a large (LARGE) share of the leftovers that lasted me the week after that weekend banquet! Good food! Reasonably priced! Tons O' Fun!

Best DEAL for Dim Sum in Sacramento!…read more Be prepared for a LONG line! But honestly, for the price, I can see why this place is so popular. The restaurant was under its original owner, Nathan, for more than a decade before changing hands and shifting its focus to Chinese dim sum. They also switched from the traditional dim sum carts to a paper checklist menu: you just check off what you want and hand it to the server. Service: Friendly and efficient. Ambiance: Very casual and family-style. The décor is a little dated, with low ceilings. Definitely has that old-school mom-and-pop, hole-in-the-wall feel. Restroom: Decent and clean. Food: Overall, decent. Not the best dim sum I've had, but considering the prices, it's a pretty good deal. *Porridge: Good texture, but there wasn't much egg or meat in it. *Siu Mai & Har Gow: Tasty, but I wish the wrappers were thinner. *Chicken Feet & Bean Curd Skin Roll: Good flavor and nice and tender. *BBQ Pork Bun, Steamed Pork Bun & Custard Bun: Warm, fluffy, and enjoyable. *Egg Tart: Lightly sweet with a nice texture. *Supreme Soy Sauce Chow Mein: Too dry for me and almost no flavor. This was probably my least favorite. Overall, the food is decent, but the prices are the real winner here. The restaurant can get busy but we haven't been when there's people waiting to come inside to be seated. Overall, I thought this restaurant was good and we'll be back in the future!

Staff is friendly and attentive from the beginning to the end of the meal. We enjoyed a full course meal. Chili oil dumplings were the favorites, Sweet & Sour soup was hearty, Broccoli was crispy and the beef just melted in your mouth. Shrimp and toasted walnuts were a treat. Chow fun was flavorful and we even tried a new appetizer that did not disappoint. This spot is a must try and great for date night, celebrations, family style eating or just to eatvery good food!!

Definitely the most tastiest duck I've ever had. The skin was crispy and the fat just melted in your mouth. The pancake making process was definitely unique but i would just love the duck on rice with some pepper. The sirloin was tender, moist and medium rare. Great stir fry. The 5 color xlb was a disappointment though. Tasty still but not worth the hype since the dumplings cooled down way to quickly and the taste was not on point. Ambiance wise, very beautiful inside. They had spacious areas for groups, big 4 person tables, and a great outdoor patio area. Definitely a good spot to try and ill come back here for the duck again.

This restaurant is a to-go only restaurant, and gets plenty of traffic from the area. I went midday (3:00pm) and there were at least 4 customers in and out during the time I was there. While I was checking their menu, I decided to order, since I remember how good their chicken wings are. I ordered the chicken wings, and a lunch combo with chicken with black bean sauce. The combo comes with chow mein and fried rice and an egg roll for $13.99 but I asked for steam rice instead of fried rice. Unfortunately, I didn't check my plate before leaving the restaurant because they gave me all steam rice and no chow mein. Despite the error, their chicken wings are still the best, and the chicken with black bean sauce was very good. I would've like to have tried the chow mein. Also, I didn't notice that they charged $16.99 for the plate, which was a little steep considering I got no chow mein. Some of the condiments are extra, like the hot mustard, so ask for it before they ring up your bill. I'm sure I'll be going back for the chicken wings because it's made fresh and it's really good.

Don't ask for hot sauce, chili oil, or anything extra because they say no. They do have hot mustard and sweet and sour sauce for sale. After tax and cash discount, $15.50. It smacked. Waiting are is covered in pictures of their plates. It's worth to look at.
