We tried GK Mongolian BBQ for the first time today after driving by it a few times, and we'll definitely be back. We arrived around 12:30 on a Friday before the lunch rush, but it filled up quickly while we were there. There was a great selection of meats, including beef, chicken, pork, turkey, and tofu, along with plenty of fresh vegetables, sauces, oils, and cooking wine to customize your bowl. I especially liked that they had bok choy, and there were plenty of ways to customize everything. I tend to add a little extra sauce when building my bowl so everything stays flavorful while it's cooking. The service really stood out. The host was also serving, cashiering, and bussing tables, but still took the time to walk my mom through the process since it was her first Mongolian BBQ. She asked if there were any low-sodium sauce options, and while he explained most of the sauces are soy-based, he suggested using garlic, ginger, cooking wine, and oils instead. I appreciated that he took the time to help instead of just pointing to the sauce bar. My husband likes spicy food, and they even offered to have the cook add extra chili oil that's kept behind the counter. I also appreciated that they cleaned the grill before cooking the next customer's bowl and that leftovers can be taken home, since not every Mongolian BBQ restaurant allows that. Their customer service was top tier, automatically greeted us upon arrival , welcomed us and explained how to order and their deals. Came to check on us frequently as well. The entire staff seemed to be doing their part with cleaning, restocking and helping customers. Love seeing a work environment where everyone does their job. My only complaint would be that I wish there was music or tvs as it is extremely quiet in here so when having a conversation I felt like I was talking super loud. This is our neighborhood Mongolian BBQ spot and it gets the job done. We eat here maybe every other month and it is so satisfying. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. We have seen many staff changes over the years, but everyone is very pleasant and respectful. There are so many choices for meats and veggies. And while the stations may get a little messy, they do a good job of cleaning and clearing them off occasionally. They also tackle the floors. It is so fun to be able to choose what you want in your bowl. I would go heavy on the sauces at the end because they are watered down a bit 5-6 scoops as recommended may not suffice for some people. A few of my favorite toppings include: beef, bok choy, spinach, baby corn, mushrooms, green onion, cilantro, peanuts, garlic and sesame oil. There are other options like tomatoes, pineapples, bell pepper, broccoli, Turkey, chicken, and pork. There is only one type of noodle - it's a thicker chow mein noodle. The chefs do cook your food on a large flat top. While you can tip them in cash in the jar, there is also an option to tip on the terminal when you check out. It is all you can eat here for lunch and dinner. There are slight variations in the sides for lunch and dinner. I believe it is soup, gyoza, and white rice for lunch and for dinner, wonton chips with sweet dipping sauce is added and the rice is upgraded to fried rice with vegetables. We're always looking for good late night eats. We discovered GK off Florin closer to I-5 side was open every day until midnight. We haven't done Mongolian BBQ in so long, but it all came back to me. Frozen thin slices of meat, noodles, and all kinds of veggies, and sauce bar. As we entered staff were cleaning off the bar, trying to pack on all your goodies gets messy. We did the AYCE which came with soup, fried wontons, and white rice for $18 with taxes. We both ended up being able to do 2 bowls each, but stuffed! My second bowl, I skipped the noodles for more protein. They have some sauce scoop suggestions, but I just go with what sounds good. Felt safe to sit and eat at 11PM, especially because multiple families with kids came through to enjoy, many did the to-go option too. We'll be back for late night eats again. read more

Friday night, 6:30PM there were only 4 parties seated in the place, but EVERY SINGLE empty table was dirty and full of the dirty dishes. Not even a glass had been cleared. No one employed was making a move to clean any. Honestly, for the price, this place is pretty decent. Can't beat AYCE Mongolian BBQ that includes soup, potsticker and crispy wontons (beverage not included). Service was great, we had a larger party and they happily combined some tables and had set the table with the included appetizers and utensils while we packed our bowls. It was pretty empty but inside was clean, no food on the floors like others had said. With that being said, I can see how during a busy time there would be spillage on the floor, but I'd take that with a grain of salt. We were not a fan of the bao buns tho. I've been here twice now. The service is quick and friendly. For $19.99 you get a full meal, unlimited bowls, a side of rice and egg roll. It's a great deal. I do wish their bowls were slightly larger, it's very difficult to fit the veggies in there. I've been to other Mongolian BBQ restaurants and their bowls are definitely larger. The other reason I'm not quite sure I'll frequent this place is the flavors were a bit underwhelming from the sauces, placed by myself and the cook into the bowel. The noodles never took on that dark coating of the sauce. I'm not sure what that's about as I haven't really experienced this at other places. I had a mixed experience at GK Mongolian Barbeque. I want to recognize Kyle for providing exceptional customer service. He was friendly, attentive, and did everything he could to make our visit a positive one. Unfortunately, the experience with the cook was very disappointing. My daughter's food was left on the grill until it burned, and instead of taking care of it, the cook walked away and prepared the guest's meal behind ours before finishing ours. It was frustrating to see our food overlooked, especially after it had already been burned. Kyle handled the situation professionally, and I truly appreciate his efforts. My family and I really love coming here whenever we are in the mood for noodles. I love how this location has fresh items. The staff here are always really nice, willing to refill when necessary and check in on customers as they enjoy their meal. I've been known to get at least two bowls, and I love how it's freshly made to order and you can see how your food is cooked. There's a lot of seating inside. There's restrooms inside. The meats included beef, pork, chicken and turkey. The food was pretty standard and the employees were friendly but the place needs better management. The line was dirty from dropped veggies and spilled sauce and really needs someone to monitor this. The cooks were not wearing hair nets or hats which is a bad experience waiting to happen. The Mongolian barbecue is really good. The service the people are attentive. The only issue I ever have with this place is the sizes are never fresh or hot and they serve them to you lukewarm or the war wonton is just not flavorful at all. And I've been here consistently numerous times to not expect the sides to be anything better than what I've had experienced in past visit. This is my 4th review on this restaurant, and let me tell you that there are two men that work here; Kyle and Javier and these men ALWAYS make our meal exceptional. We visited on 4/8/2025 at 6:30 p.m. The cleanliness level of when Kyle works (every night but Saturday and Sunday) you know is ALWAYS going to be great! There have been times when we visit and these two are NOT there, and the place can get so filthy with food all over the floor in front of the condiments that you really have to be careful not to slip and fall. This NEVER has been the issue when Kyle is working. Food was pretty good. Staff needs some work. They were friendly but unable to keep up with the customers. The guy refilling the veggies needs to learn how to package to-go orders so that it's not one person cashiering, taking to-go/door dash orders, packaging up all the things, trying to serve water, etc. Our food was done but we couldn't sit down and eat it because we couldn't pay. Then when we did sit, we couldn't eat it because there's no utensils. Finally got chopsticks from the chef but still had no drinks, napkins. Then another employee showed up and served water and egg rolls - the little sides that go with the Mongolian bbq. I will return though. The food was good and I think with time, they'll get organized and staff will have it down. I especially like that it stays open late. Rule of thumb when grabbing food for your Mongolian bowl: Pack it in! Haha the meat and veggies shrivel after they're cooked, so I always push the meat and veggies down in my bowl to maximize the space :) My friend and I had lunch here which was $15.50 after tax for a Mongolian bowl, egg drop soup, potsticker, and white rice. My one bowl of Mongolian food was very filling. It tasted great but it was a little oily. I still enjoyed it though. The soup and potsticker were okay. The server stayed on top of filling our waters without us asking, and the employees were friendly. The restaurant had open space and plenty of seating. We had Great Wall on Howe Ave. (mean lady but a go-to- free scoldings to boot), then Silver Garden in Madison Ave area, Li's In Carmichael and a few outliers but not many. Get your frozen thin curls of meats, then noods, then veggies and trimmings, then another bowl to smush it all down was commonplace pro manuevers, then hand that bowl of gold over to the cook and it was so full he could not scrape it all into the same bowl after cooking. Sadly, a bit meh. The good: Friendly staff; fairly clean; proteins and veggies looked very fresh; cooks thoroughly cooked everything; soup, rice and a potsticker came with the meal. Not so good: My wife and I made separate bowls and both liberally ladled on the sauces. Result: the food came out uniformly bland, both of our meals lacking any flavor. I actually scratch cook Asian dishes at home and the cooking sauce are always quite noticeable; same with additions such as sesame oil. Not here - it's as if all of it is watered down or something. I love the color palette inside the restaurant. Bc it's a create your own bowl kind of style, people can get real crazy and stacked up a crapload on their plates and as a result I saw them dropping food on the counter and the ground. What a freaking waste. I think people should read and listen better. If it's an all you can eat, it might be smart to make a bowl and not stuff things do high where it can fall. I added 3 sauces of almost each selection witch is usually really sweet and spicy, it had NO flavor. After 4-5 bites my wife and i decided that we would just go grab a sandwich from across the street. I've been a big fan of GK since it's first shop in Stockton. Love GK but I can't afford to eat so much for a health perspective haha. So it was nice surprise to see open so close in South Sac. The restaurant is similar in style to all their stores but this one has a nice Kings esque mural on one side and maybe slightly smaller than most. Not surprisingly it was pretty busy this Friday night, probably the busiest I've seen in awhile but the food still hit the spot. The staff was doing a decent job considering the crowd but they seem to be missing the skill of some of their more established location. Regardless I was still happy with my food. Only other issue was that some of the trays were not being filled timely for things such as the meat so it left some people picking up scraps. Not my best experience but no problem coming back. Will likely visit on a less busy day next time. Just be forewarned this place will be busy on weekend nights so keep that in mind if you don't want to wait! read more
