This place is a little hard to find , but once you do find it , you'll be amazed by how much they offer for being such a small little hole in the wall located behind a gas station . I grabbed a quick teriyaki plate for dinner with some eggplant tempura and it did not disappoint ! They give you plenty of food and it was enough to share with another person ! I'll definitely be coming back not that I know this place exists ! I also recommend !

4. Tempura and Tonkatsu Combination

My family has been coming here for almost 40 years! Food is amazing and the staff is always friendly :) HUGE portions of food as well! Definitely a must try if you are looking for something authentic!

If you aren't actively looking for this place, it's actually really easy to miss. Ordered a few items just to try them out. Picked up the calamari, shrimp tempura and eggplant tempura for appetizers. They come pre-sauced which isn't to my liking, but it wasn't too bad. I'm not big on sweet sauces and there was unagi/teriyaki sauce drizzled up top. Ordered the bibimbap and it was almost salad like. It came with a heaping amount of lettuce which I'm not particularly used to. But there was more lettuce than there was rice. There wasn't enough flavor to me, nor was I given any additional sauces to add. Ie-sesame oil or red pepper sauce. So that was a slight disappointment The stir fried noodles were just ok to me. I ordered it in a medium spice and there wasn't enough spice.

Let's start off with the pros: -Server is nice -food was good -tables were clean Cons of MY experience: -Took 5-7min to receive my water after asking (not busy+everyone has been served but me) -My waiter never once came to check up on me during my whole dining experience (didn't need anything during my meal, but would've been nice to get checked up on it if I needed/wanted anything) -Felt like I was eating a chicken katsu instead of Sesame chicken (really minor issue to me, but guess was expecting a more traditional version of Sesame chicken) Price was okay. Got a lot of meat, but at the price of ~$20+tip. Guess my only main complaint is service. No pros to note about the food/price ratio for this particular order.

Found this place on YELP close to the Justice Center where we had an appointment. Don't let the location scare you away. It is right next to a gas station and a couple other buildings. We noticed they had a lot of take out orders. The menus are already on the table, so we were ready to order when the waitress came to our table. My husband had a Noodle Bowl and I had a Teriyaki Chicken box. My husband loved his dish and mine was also delicious and there was so much, I had enough for lunch the next day. We were really happy we took the advice of YELP and stopped here for lunch. You will not be disappointed.

This restaurant is located near a cross street to Folsom Blvd between Howe and Watt. Normally, it's very easy to pass by and never notice it or the bagel place 2 doors down from it. However, I was actively scanning for a takeout meal after work. I stopped here for the teriyaki short ribs lunch plate and the salmon teriyaki to-go. I waited outside while the food was prepared (This being the era of the pandemic). I had never been here before. I've been making a point of trying new places for take-home lunches. This place was a nice surprise. The serving portion size was decent. The short ribs were savory, hot, and very delectable. Umami satisfying. The salmon was pretty good, as well. I would not hesitate to stop here again if in the mood for teriyaki meals.

Small mom and pop shop sitting next to a gas station on Folsom Blvd. Easy to miss. Parking is really limited but we were lucky to get one in the lot rather than the side street. They serve Korean/Japanese menu items. I finally came here after reading all the good reviews. I knew I was getting the sizzling beef bibimbap. It was great as others in our party enjoyed the salmon bibimbap, jalapeno and mushroom tempura as well. The owner was really nice and took good care of us. I would definitely come back to try other items like noodle dishes, noodle soups and bento boxes.

This took me a while to decide on the stars I was going to give. It was either going to be 2 or 3 but I decided to do 2 SOLELY because of the customer service. The food is a complete 5 star!! So I've been coming here for many many months now. The first time I've ever came here the expierence was amazing. The lady was extremely welcoming to me, sweet, had the biggest smile on her face and everything! I did make a review after that expierence and I gave it a total of 5 Unfortunatly, the next time after that and the time after that and that... the customer expierence was horrible. The smile was gone and her friendliness was gone. I was so confused. Did we not tip her enough last time? Did we say something wrong to her? Did she have a traggic life event happen that scewed her personality THAT much? For example: she never smiles anymore, she mugs me boyfriend and I from afar, she'll try to kick us out of the restaurant 30 min before they close, never refills our water, asked if we can have straws and never brings them to us. We felt like we were such a burden to her life! To the point where when we needed siracha sauce we were like fuck this I'm just going to get up and find it myself. I feel like this bothers me greatly because we give her so much of our business because their food is so damn delicious but damn that customer service she gives us should be freaking illegal!

Calamari! Cooked to perfection! Not rubbery at all. This has 6 pieces in total. Couldn't snap the pic in time.

What is this dive?? I saw the front and it looks like a dive restaurant. But remember not all dives are the same! It is wedged between a gas station and a donut shop. Walking in it is not fancy in the least, but remember what you mom told you growing up, "Don't judge a book by its cover!" Well well let's start with the water and appetizer. They come out with what appears to be iceless water. It is, however it is ice cold! I see calamari for $4 and some change, so I figure it's ok to order. Out comes this fancy looking dish with 6 slices of calamari rings and the seasoning sauces drizzled on top. The calamari is not rubbery at all. In fact it is so good, my kids were fighting over the last slice, and they are used to eating at 4 star restaurants. I ordered Dol Sot Bimbimbap. The veggies were cooked but slightly crisp and not soggy. They did not have the raw egg to mix in, but instead a thinly sliced egg omelette. It was very good! The spoiled kids with me who frequent good restaurants said the food was so good. The sesame chicken I tasted was tender and not over cooked. Their quality is good and as a result, I will be back!!

This has been a small, family owned location since I was a child. Their tempura & sauces are amazing, and it's hard to enjoy elsewhere.

No egg on the bibimbap?

It's a little different from a traditional dol sot bibimbap so you won't find a sunny side egg in there, but I think there is egg -- thin strips of omelette style egg, kind of like what you'd find in a Korean or Japanese rolled omelette.

The first time, I visited with a GF friend and they really appreciated the GF menu. It feels like the restaurant put a lot of thought into the menu. The chicken karage was cripsy and juicy and very good. The spicy tuna roll was fresh and the rainbow roll is good. I got the tommy roll and it was the best thing I have even eaten, sushi-wise. It was hella expensive at $28 but the crab tasted fresh and it had so much flavor while not being overwhelming. The texture was also good, and each piece is very large but built to be broken down into 2 bites if needed without falling apart.

They almost melt in your mouth with flavor. my waiter stopped by several times to take my order and check on me. Inside has lots of seating and a lovely outdoor covered space that gives this place a really fun vibe. And light pop music playing in the background. I went next with a miso soup, ample size for a serving. I was prepared for a salty spoonful on my first spoonful, But I was surprised to have a nicely flavored soup with scallions and tofu. And not salty at all. I might have to grap a second bowl to go as it was so good. Next, I went with my server John's suggestions the Flaming Srooms, Tempura Mushrooms with crab mix cream cheese jalapeños, special sauce shaved Bonita flakes and green onions. They came out very hot and if you know Mushrooms never put one in your mouth right from the oven or fryer as you will burn your mouth. So I enjoyed the smell of it for a couple of minutes before biting into one. I did expect a larger mushroom bit the top was filled with imitation crab and cream cheese. smaller mushroom then I expected for sure. Almost like a mushroom crab ragoon, Mushroom lovers will like this. Next I went with the Spicy Johnny roll. the Tuna and the eel are the major flavors here with the sauces, not spicy for me but possibly for others. And finally ended with a simple Spicy Salmon roll. they add chillies powder and Sesame oil which is different then most east coast places I was sitting around enjoying my meal as they were getting close to closing. I was impressed on the details they took on cleaning the entire restaurant and even the walls. I would definitely come back when I am in town.

I would often come around noon during the week, and order the Thai chicken bento box. Unfortunately one of the days I came, I found a fingernail in the California roll. Bit into the roll, and the fingernail as well. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Immediately lost my appetite and wanted to throw up. I flagged my server down (all the employees here are super nice), and showed her the fingernail. She took it to the back and reported it to a manager or supervisor I suppose. When she came back she told me that their California rolls are pre-made, so if you're ordering these rolls BE CAREFUL. She offered to remake the bento box to which I shared no. I asked for my tab and when she came back she said it was on the house and did not ask me to pay (nice gesture, but I mean when you find a whole fingernail in your food, that's the least that can be done). Safe to save, I have not gone back since then and probably won't. If I did, I'm definitely staying far away from the California roll. This happened to me last year, so hoping some changes in their hygiene and making of California rolls have been made since then.

Their service and music are excellent. The ambiance is spacious, so when the restaurant is busy with diners, the sound is not an issue at all. The TV screens show sushi making videos that get our attention hooked. The robot server has happy music playing and sweet messages on its screen, like KIT, as it rolls away. Their beautiful food display right by the entrance is the perfect way to entice customers to keep it moving to get a table, and not hesitate, if they are new customers. Their rolls are the biggest I have ever had so far from a sushi restaurant and all of their sushi sections we have enjoyed so far have seriously caused a flavor explosion right at first bite! The restaurant layout has remained the same with its amber lights illuminating over everyone, but their popularity has increased over time, mainly due to their affordable sushi prices and large portions. They're not the fanciest, the food quality is good but not excellent, the service isn't memorable. But after visiting here on and off for so long, it has just became a sushi staple in town. This is the place to go to for large groups because the sushi is affordable, the atmosphere is welcoming, and there is a huge variety of rolls to choose from. Not only rolls, but appetizers, entrees, drinks, etc. Their menu has expanded since years ago, and is accommodating to the general public for the entire family. Whether you like sushi or not, you'll find at least one item on the menu you would like. For my bougie taste buds that I've developed from trying so many restaurants, it's not quite my preference when I'm craving sushi, but from a nostalgic perspective, I would actually recommend Sushi Hook as a welcoming place for heartwarming sushi. I've moved out of Sacramento about 2 months ago, and still have yet to come across a sushi gem that brings people together with affordable dining. That said, the food did take a bit longer than expected to come out, especially considering it wasn't very busy when we went. When the sushi finally arrived, though, it delivered. The rolls were flavorful and well-made, with a noticeable focus on sauces. They do tend to go heavier on the sauce, so if you like your sushi rich and packed with flavor, you'll probably enjoy it. On the positive side, the chicken teriyaki plate was amazing--great flavor, cooked perfectly, and easily the highlight of the meal. The quality of that dish really stood out. Overall, Arigato Sushi delivered some strong flavors, but the sushi roll could benefit from better structure and presentation to match the quality of the teriyaki.
