Omg delicious. Visited a friend who works nearby and I am jealous that they have this as a lunch option! The poutine fries really hit the spot, especially with the egg on top! The kfc sando had a lot of flavor tho, it could be crispier! I wish they were open on the weekend :)
Yum! Was unsure about lunch one day so the husband brought home Kindred Seoul. He swore by them (he's a state worker nearby the restaurant and has had them many times before). I ordered the beef cupbop and it hit the spot! All the flavors I could've asked for: sweet, salty, umami goodness. The rice was perfectly fluffy, the japchae nicely cooked, and the beef was so tasty. Great portion and was a nice, warm lunch on a cold day. If you're a state worker and haven't tried them yet, you need to! Delicious Korean food that's fresh and filling!
Kindred Seoul. This place serves up Korean fusion food. Korean based cuisine mixed in with modern food twists. Big, bold, delicious flavors. Served casual, counter service style. My fave is the bbq beef cupbop. Cupbop?! It's a bbq beef bulgogi rice bowl. The meat is flavorful, nicely marinaded. The house gochujang sauce is a wow. The menu is concise and diverse enough to provide options. The staff is wonderful. They know how to churn out the orders during the lunch rush. Kindred Seoul lis in the Clifford Allenby office building in downtown Sacramento. It's only open during the week for lunch serving the neighboring office workers. There aren't particularly a lot of eateries nearby. So I do appreciate them as a viable lunch option. At first glance, the building looks like it's not open to the public. But it is... well the first floor where the eatery and dining room is open to the public, plus the restrooms. The lobby setup is reminiscent to a mall food court with Kindred Seoul the only current tenant for now. The building is newish. It has an ultra modern look with a mid century interior decor vibe.
We stopped by this cafeteria because the cafe inside the capitol was busy. It was a simple cafeteria food and was really good and tasty! I got the french fries and the chicken bowl. We went at like 2-3 and got the food from there. It came out quickly and there was a little late because we went at kinda of an obscure time. The service was really fast and really efficient. The food came out piping hot and we were in a bit of a rush so it made it a bit difficult to eat quickly. The ambiance is really clean and everything is really nice! Overall, I recommend it and would go back again if I was doing work near the capitol building!
On a whim, I thought I'd check this place out since it was close by my work. I believe they occupy the same building as Dept of Developmental Services. The restaurant area is huggeeeee, and I believe, for now, they are the only restaurant in the food commons area. Since it was my first time there, I asked questions on what was good. They had vegetarian options and the food is made to order. Thinking I beat the lunch crowd, I thought it'd be quick. There was a line of people to order, as well as a line of ppl waiting for their food. I ordered the Veggie Bop, with the tofu crispy. My order was taken at 12:55 PM. I waited. I looked around me and a number of people were looking at their phone and their watches, which told me they were in the same boat - on lunchtime, on a timeframe to return to work. I continued to wait. And wait. And wait. I didn't get my food until 30 minutes after I placed my order. I was told "thank you for being patient" when picking up my order, so at least they acknowledged it. When I got back to the office, I have to say it was good! The tofu was fried with rice paper (although I would've preferred it fried even longer). The bowl also had rice, slaw, Jap Chae & mayo sauce. I scarfed that down so fast. I'll be back.
The food here is VERY tasty!! Everything is seasoned so well. I had the KFC Sando and regular fries and it was perfect to have on my lunch break. Staff were super friendly and the food was ready quickly! It's a very clean space in the building lobby and lots of tables so it doesn't feel too crowded.
The K-Burrito was so filling. Had rice, kimchi, sour cream, American cheese, beef and a sauce that was mildly spicy. The orange sauce it came with was mild and a tasty. The service was quick. Staff was friendly. The only issue was the meat is more sweet than what I prefer, which makes sense bc it is. Korean spot. It was good but I don't prefer sweet meals.
It's one of my new favorite spots here. My work bff told me they have korean food. I'm like where? Saw the menu and was like ok they have salads , bowls, tacos, and burrito but korean inspired. Say no less. . Lunch time walked over to try it. I got the bulgogi burrito. I told them to cut in half for me. I enjoyed half while walking back to office. And the other half for later at My desk. I'm so glad I did that because it was hefty good size and put me in a food coma. Lol in a good way. The bulgogi burrito was so juicy and flavorful. It was simple and hits the spot. The price was affordable too like 12 bucks or so. . So it's located inside a cafeteria vendor style in the state building. I really love a close by good affordable and quick pick up lunch when I'm on a time crunch lunch break. . Overall can't wait to come back and try other items. This is such a cute little spot! Definitely a great spot for a quick lunch. I would say a little on the pricy side for what you get but it definitely hit the spot. I got the Bulgogi Bowl thing and it was yummy! Drinks here are average just your normal coke, sprite etc. but definitely stop in (:
One of those places you would love to frequent but must be patient! And that's no understatement. Even my wife loved their Korean beef taco. They gave us sauces which one of them were spicy HOT! Be careful! Need ice water nearby or ice cream! Lol My wife enjoyed her soy garlic chicken cupbop & was sad when it was totally gone. Like bummer...I totally enjoyed my burrito packed full & my bulgogi beef cupbop. Yes my wife was tempted to want to dig into my order!!! She backed off though which was a first! LOL Yes the M-F 1030-3 hours definitely are catered for the state workers all around. Right? The vibe here was also fresh, clean & contemporary. Even though we had to wait 30 minutes for our full order just bc the gal forgot to place our order in originally it was however worth our wait! Plus the employee did apologize for the long wait. Would we return? If we find street parking nearby sure! On our first try we were very fortunate.
I noticed this Korean fusion bistro was a 5 minute walking distance from the state capitol in downtown and so I decided to give this place a shot. Walking in, it had a cafeteria vibe being the only restaurant there. Plenty of seats with the opportunity to dine by yourself or with some friends. Water station to the right. The staff were very friendly and had a warm smile greeting the customers. I decided to order the K-Lunch burrito which consisted of beef bulgolgi, seasoned rice, melted cheese, kimchi slaw, grilled onions, cilantro, sour cream, house gochujang (red pepper paste) sauce, house chili Mayo sauce on flour tortilla. For $12, it's a fairly decent size. It was jam packed with lots of bulgogi that was bursting with flavors. The kimchi slaw wasn't super fermented (sour tasting) and was just right. The house chili mayo combined with the gochujang sauce gave the burrito a little mild kick to it. The tortilla was slightly crispy for a bit of crunch factor. Overall, it was pretty satisfying. The loaded fries consisted of fries, lots of melted cheese, bacon, grilled onion, and house chili mayo sauce. The official website says it's shoestring fries but it's not so take that in mind. The fries weren't crispy at all so I'd definitely recommend to ask for the melted cheese to be on the side for you to drizzle. I'd also ask to go light on the cheese since it's a puddle of it underneath. Besides that, they were pretty good! For $7, it's a bit lacking in the quantity aspect but the quality of the loaded fries makes up for it. The bacon combined with the house sauce made it delicious. Overall, I enjoyed my time here with the great food. I'd come back here again to try out other items.
Happy to see this business thriving...I have been trying a variety of things that they offer. So far the standouts are the breakfast burrito and their bbq beef cupbop. Their service is always outstanding. Compliments to the chef and the whole crew!
Ordered the bulgogi beef bowl and the bowls are filled to the top and not with rice either, they give lots of meat, japchae, kimchi, and corn. The flavors are on point and is really good. The kimchi has good spice to it and the japche is not mushy. Will def come back again. My only complaint is parking was a bit of a hassle. The service was prompt. They are located inside a huge state building which does have a lot of seating for lunch but it's not a place for dinner or parties as they only open from 10am to 3pm. Parking is a bit of a hassle because you'd have to find street parking, the parking in front of the entrance are for state workers only. Despite that, I'd still come back to try other foods.
The skinny: Delicious, spicy Korean burrito Beautiful, naturally-lit dining area Super clean bathrooms The lengthy: Got lunch with a friend whose lunch hour was very flexible that week. He wanted me to enjoy this particular restaurant because they're only open on weekdays. We parked along the Capitol Mall, then walked over. The building is very clean and modernized. Ordering was somewhat easy- the bulgogi burrito (name?) wasn't on the overhead menu but it was on a placard. We got one each; I chose the "meal option" which came with fries and a drink. Took under 10 minutes to be ready. Each came with a small container of spicy sauce (a more liquidy gochujang aioli?). Bulgogi burrito: spicy, tangy, meaty. No skimping on meat. Good balance of kimchi with other ingredients. The french fries and drink weren't necessary. I'm not an "I'll take the meal option" kind of guy; not sure why i went for it this time, honestly i'd like to try loaded fries in the future, though. I WILL be back and I will be bringing the wife! And we will probably get three (to split an extra) or four (for my lunch the next day)! read more

Located in the Allenby Building State building in Downtown Sacramento. They have a vast eating area that you can bring your own lunch if you choose, you don't have to order from Kindred Seoul to eat in the building. I've only eaten here once, but it appeared that was plenty of seating for many more people. When we walk by it's never been packed. Parking is mostly street parking with some parking in local garages. They have 2 very clean unisex bathrooms to the right of the counter. You order at the counter and then they call your number. We arrived a few minutes after Noon. There was only 1 person in-front of us and 1 person behind us so we thought it would be a quick lunch. As it turns out several people went through the line before us and the wait was around 15 minutes. Kind of an excessive wait for a counter lunch. There was one girl holding her baby taking the orders and one girl filling the orders. She was going as fast as she could, but it still took awhile. It got really backed up. I ordered the BBQ Beef Cupbop. I didn't know what to expect. As it turns out the bottom layer is white rice, next is a layer of glass noodles, then comes the can corned, a mixture of cabbage, and topped with the BBQ Beef. It was very tasty. A little on the spicy side, which made it just more flavorful. It wasn't mouth watering or eye tearing hot. It just had a little kick. The consistency of the meat reminded me of ground beef. It was very finely chopped strips. Overall it was really good. Very filling for the amount you get. It's more than we usually have for lunch. My husband had the chicken soy ginger. I had some and it was really good, but fried, so probably not as healthy as the BBQ Beef. It doesn't appear that they cook to order any food here, but they do scoop to order. From what I could see they sell a variety of Cupbop flavors, including a vegetarian option. They also sell sandwiches, salads, and a burrito. They have an ice water dispenser at the end of the counter with water cups. The vibe was interesting. You are surrounded by state worker from all different agencies all minding their own business. Many groups of 2-6 were eating together. There were less singles than groups. read more

Kindred Seoul is a welcome addition to the downtown food scene. Through the modern glass doors of Allenby building (housing different State departments) is Kindred Seoul. It is conveniently located within walking distance from my workplace, and I always look forward to grabbing a bite here when I go into the office. The service here is fantastic. While a small operation, their food packs a punch in flavor. The interior of the building offers plenty of open seating if you want to enjoy your meal there, but I am also always offered a bag and utensils to go if I need them. I'd recommend checking Korean Seoul out if you want to change up your lunch options! The hours mostly cater to the State employee crowd, so be mindful of that when planning your visit. Arriving around 11:30am before the lunch rush seems to be the sweet spot for me. read more

I first went for the first time last year and can I just say that this is still one of my favorite lunch spots. It is a little hard to find since it is inside of a business building but once inside, it is so clean and spacious. One of the workers (or could be owner) gave us some popular recommendations and I was able to try both the k-burrito and bbq beef cup and both are SOOO GOOD. If you prefer noodles definitely get the bbq beef cup but if you're more of a sauce type of person, the k-burrito is bursting with flavor. If you want a spicy kick to it, ask for their spicy house sauce.. DELICIOUS! The service here is always so great, they are usually low staffed but they always have the food coming at a reasonably fast pace and everyone working is so nice and friendly. I can't wait to see how the business grows! read more

Good spot for lunch while in the area. This place is located in a State Building. The dining space is pretty open. Lots of options to sit, whether you want to sit by the window and people watch, bring a group for a lunch outing--or simply sit down for a 1:1 lunch. We love the Cup Bops here. You can't go wrong with the Chicken/Beef. --I like to add the fried egg and gochujng to the Garlic Chicken Cup Bop. I'd give a 4 star since the menu is a bit off, the add-ons are a bit pricey; for example the Cupbop, you'd have to add on the fried egg and gochujang sauce... why not just make that standard? It's so much yummier that way!! ;) Regardless this spot is great k-food fix during the work day. Thankfully I hve to walk a few blocks to it, so I have no regrets indulging in the menu items. I love Korean food and would've been here sooner if it was open outside of working business hours. They're located inside of a state building so they're closed after 3pm and on weekends. Lucky state workers who work here! The lobby is huge and there is tons of seating. We came on a Friday at 11am and it was completely empty. I read reviews about it being crowded during lunch hour but during our visit I overheard a lady saying it's always a ghost town on Fridays so I would recommend coming on a Friday to avoid the employee lunch rush. Although the inside is huge, it's pretty tricky to find parking. The spots right in front are all for the employees. We found a spot a couple blocks away thankfully but you do have to pay for the parking meter. Our food took almost 20 mins to come out even though we weren't behind anyone in line. I think it would've been out sooner but I noticed the cook had forgotten the added egg and the fries so the cashier was waiting for that. The fries were actually really good - thin and fresh and reminded me of McDonald's fries, and the seasoning was really good. I ordered the K-burrito and at first I thought it was not going to be enough but I was perfectly full after - not hungry still but also not about to go into a food coma. Probably for the best for all the people that have to go back to work after eating here! The burrito does have a lot of rice which I thought would make it dry but it's a pretty mushy burrito (which is what I like) thanks to the sour cream and gochujang, and it also comes with a housemade salsa roja on the side which was delicious! I could've used another cup of that. It had a great amount of heat. The only complaint I could have is the burrito could use more bulgogi but otherwise I really enjoyed it. My husband ordered the bbq beef cupbop, and added an egg on top. The egg is $2.50 which is kind of crazy considering you can get a dozen at the store for that price but gotta love inflation... it was a well cooked egg though so the yolk was perfectly runny. The bulgogi was tender and it was probably one of the best japchae I've ever had! Both items were on the smaller side for the price but tasted super good so I'm okay with that and that's why I'm still giving a 5 star rating. I can't blame them, they're probably trying to make a profit with their limited hours. I hope they'll branch out to another location or even as a food truck because they would be super successful! Quick counter service lunch spot with a surprisingly large assortment of menu items. I usually get the burrito or the breakfast burrito when I want to mix it up. Huge clean and cool space with room for friends to get away from the summer heat. Another pro - they make their own salsa!! read more
Really liked the food here but service was a bit slow. The restaurant is located in side the Clifford Allenby Building with lots of seating and it looks like quite a bit of room to grow but it seemed like they could use more staff. I understand visiting at 12 on a workday is probably one of the busiest time but it was pretty excessive waiting around 30 minutes. The Bul Sando tasted pretty good but of course the presentation wasn't the most satisfying. I'll definitely gives this place another chance just based on taste and location but make sure you have the time to wait before you order, or use one of the food ordering services! read more

Cool spot located inside the Clifford L. Allenby government building downtown! Heads up, it is NOT a standalone spot and instead sort of acts as a food court for the government workers that work inside the building. If you're driving around looking for a Kindred Seoul sign, you won't find one. The good news is, there's two hour visitor parking for the building right in front of the entrance, and I had no trouble parking and getting in once I realized I was in the right place. Once you're inside the building, make a left, and you'll immediately see the food court area. It's really just a bunch of seating with Kindred Seoul being the only restaurant behind the counter, though it looks like there is potentially room for more businesses to open up here. It wasn't busy when I arrived and I just waited behind one person. The menu was pretty eclectic, ranging from loaded fries, Korean style burgers and burritos, to more traditional Korean fare. I went for the loaded fries, BBQ Beef CupBop and K+ Burrito and ate the fries and burrito on site. I sat down for about ten minutes while my food was made, and they called my number to pick it up from the counter. The cashier offered me a bag (it was a decent amount of food), which was nice, and everything was wrapped up to go so I had the option to take it or eat it there. The fries were good but nothing special. Liquid cheese, sautéed onions, special sauce. More or less what you'd expect. I wouldn't get them again, but there was nothing wrong with them. They just didn't stand out. The burrito was great, though. It offered a Korean style twist on a Mexican classic and included BBQ beef bulgogi, rice, kimchi slaw, and more. I wasn't expecting to eat all of the fries and burrito in one sitting but the. Herico was that good. Would definitely get it again. I ate the BBQ Beef CupBop later that evening at home. Solid portions here, too, with BBQ Beef Bulgogi, kimchi slaw, corn, rice, and their Gochujang sauce. Like the burrito, I wasn't expecting to eat all of it at once, but I definitely did. Kindred Seoul is great if you want a quick grab and go Korean food spot. Pros are the food is pretty good and prices are reasonable. Cons is the food can take some time to prepare but to be fair it seems like it's only one person in the kitchen. Overall, this is where I go for a quick bit when I'm in area on a weekday. read more

Just got the K Lunch Burrito. OMG. It's so good. So much flavor. Asked for the spicy sauce, per a recommendation in a prior review...yum. You should get this. I want to try one of the bowls next time. read more

the spicy pork bulgolgi cupbop was underwhelming. there wasn't much flavor besides the meat (which was yummy). watermelon drink tasted mostly like water so the sweetness came from the jellies alone. my gf also got the beef bulgolgi burrito and she said it was okay read more

It was ok! Wish it had more vegetables, felt super heavy, especially for lunch, so I couldn't even finish it in one sitting. Japchae was just average as well. Beef was tender, would have gotten the sauce on the side though. Nice and clean seating area though! read more
