I remember when Koja Kitchen was all the rage, before food trucks and fusion food became super popular. We came to this location on a Sunday night because there was a long wait at another restaurant. There were no customers, just one cook in the back with a kiosk in front to order. Normally, no customers would be a red flag but we ate there anyway because we knew the brand name, Koja. The food was okay but everyone in my party had an upset stomach the next few days. It started that evening, and our party represented three separate home. We really think it was the food. That said, maybe it was an off day, or maybe Koja Kitchen has had their day. But from my experience, I wasn't totally thrilled. Didn't like feeling sick days after.
Yummy food. Takes a little longer to get your food than you would think so just plan for that. You order from a kiosk Fries- a little salty from the sauces but good to share and for a small bite. I wouldn't order again though. Bowl- so good! Beef was a little salty but I really liked the combo with the rice. The salad was surprisingly delicious and I loved the dressing. Recommend getting this. Taco- double tortilla kept it from falling apart. Generous serving. Tasty! Casual takeout spot.
I eat here a couple of times a year and it's usually a 4-5 star experience. I love their crispy rice patties. However, last night was a disappointment. The top rice patty to my Original was completely overcooked. It was a hard chunk with no chewiness at all. Just hard over fried rice and was inedible. My partner ordered the Zen burger which is usually very good. Last night it had barely any sauce or flavor. She ended up having to add some salt to it. We had ordered it To Go so no way to remedy our order once we started eating it at home.
I have been here several times and finally remembered to bring the $25 gift card I won at a Yelp event sponsored by CAAP 4 years ago. Unfortunately the card didn't work anymore as the owners switched the type of gift cards they use. Pretty much a major downer even though the staff did all they could including calling their manager. Not sure why gift cards records would nit be accessible since there was no expiration date on my GC. The Midtown location is a cool spot open late and it has its own late night bar. Koja's food is on the sweet side but it's always delicious. Funny thing in the past Koja was sort if pricey but now with post covid prices they are more inline with normal pricing. The manager said they would take one menu item off of my order which is ok but $13.95 compared to $25 is still not a fair trade.
We were in Sacramento getting ready to see a concert at the golden 1 center and decided to check this place out for dinner. It's not super big but has nice outdoor seating .. it is a little weird if you need to use the restroom cause it's downstairs and down there it's like a bar/club but the worst part is we didn't use the bathroom, it smelt sooo bad and not clean. The restaurant itself was not super clean at all and a bit dingy. You order at a little kiosk pad. The food was good and would try again Kamikaze fries- 4.5/5 Beef short rib bowl - 4/5 Braised pork taco- 4/5
Delicious wings! The wings were so crispy, so flavorful so large and satiating I was obsessed (and I don't even normally like wings). We tried the korean buffalo sauce and the yang nyum sauce, the yang nyum were our favorite the sweet but spicy combo made them a winner. The wings were both crispy and incredibly juicy. Buffalo was on the spicy side and very very saucy! Great place for a quick in and out before the game. Two minor detractors were the kiosk you order at takes an incredibly long time, would be nice to have a second kiosk so the wait is shorter. The ambiance was a little strange with the bar downstairs that gave skeevy nightclub vibes. My partner also ordered the pork taco which looked incredibly sad and was completely flavorless, with gross ice berg lettuce. I did LOVE the wings and would come back just for that!
Koja Kitchen is easy to find in the corner of 8th & K, but only has street parking due to its location. It has a restaurant up top, a bar in the basement, and they're both dressed in cool modern accents. The bar is definitely more colorful with it's soft blue tones, funky lighting, and anime playing on the TVs. I order some waffle cut kamikaze fries for $9.75 and watched anime while I waited. When they arrived, the fries arrived they were hot, and crispy. They were topped with minced Korean BBQ beef, red sauce, and Japanese mayo. They were supposed to come with sautéed onions, kimchi, and green onions, but I didn't see or taste them. My fries lacked the color, and some ingredients, of the ones pictured in the menu, so I wasn't completely satisfied. They were still good, but I'm only giving them 4 stars. The staff was nice, the restaurant was clean, and they have a great menu. I plan to go back, and try more of their interesting dishes. Hopefully with all the ingredients next time.
A cool spot. They have an underground club too which I've heard is pretty fun. The food is solid. Love the Koja Burger. Flavor great and the rice bun is unique. Last time I ordered take out they gave me the complete wrong items and I didn't check til I got home. It was still yummy but not what I order which sucked but I still came back for more hehe. The loaded fries are also a favorite (if I see loaded fries anywhere on a menu I will be trying it)! Glad they have boba too, it compliments the menu well. The design is cool! Love the lights and art. Parking here is, well you know, it's downtown lol. You will prob have to walk here from parking further or the doco lots, but it's a great bite to eat before a kings game or concert!
food was ok, kind of small but not terrible. service was ok as well but not anything great. might give it a try again but probably not.
Came here for a lunch break from work and met up with a friend here. She's been here before and recommended it while it was my first time. The location is in such a convenient area from Golden 1 center and DOCO. Walking in, the place is basically 2 places in 1. Koja kitchen is the top part while it's a bar vibe downstairs late at night. Once you get in line to order, you immediately see the sign for their daily specials. I got so excited to see the 2 musubi and fries combo for Friday deal but then realized that I was there on a Thursday LOL. I ended up getting a Signature Musubi and small fries while my friend got a chicken koja bowl. I'm definitely coming back on one of the days when they have the musubi and fries deal because I just love musubis!
Convenient spot if you're planning to hang around the DOCO area. You can order with staff or from the kiosk. Ordered a "Koja" braised pork burger where the bun is made of pan fried rice buns. They loaded it up with flavor and sauce so every bite was filling and delicious! Only downside is when you get to the bottom, it's where all the oil comes out of, so it can get messy.
This place has unique food, fusion of American and Asian. You do have to order through computer. Food was tasty and had lots of special sauces. They also have a beer selection, and a full barrel bellow.
Koja Kitchen in Downtown Sacramento is a great place that can serve up quick, flavorful bites at very reasonable prices. Their menu is chock-full of flavorful options, catering to a wide variety of tastes, and is considered one of the best restaurants around due to its satisfying meals and good price. The portions are very good, the food always fresh, and the flavors just right, whether it be for lunch or even a casual dinner. They have a variety of choices to satisfy all appetites. They so get fairly busy during lunch hours, so allow yourself some time to enjoy the food. There's plenty of seating inside and outside in the patio area. If you happen to be in Downtown Sacramento, Kojak Kitchen will definitely provide great food for decent prices, along with excellent warm service.

I have no idea how I've never visited this place before! I definitely need to go back to check downstairs, but... *insert drool* This place is so yummy! First of all, the food served is exactly like the photos. I got the short rib bun burger and bulgogi gyoza. The burger (omg) had a balance of sweet and salty but also a little spicy. Halfway through I noticed something yellow, it was a pineapple! Usually I have mixed feelings about pineapple with foods like pizza. But this complimented so well. Now, the gyoza. Crispy and you can't go wrong with bulgogi. What I was surprised with was inside I think it was japchae! If you like Korean food like me, I was so excited to see this twist. And yes it was yummy. I seem to get lucky most times and get to meet the owners. That day I met them and they're so nice! I can tell they put a lot of thought into the menu, ingredients, decor, etc. The owners are Japanese and Korean. Hence KoJa! Even this detail was really impressive. I ended up going back because the owner told me that his wife (also owner) created Yang Nyum and it was really good and popular. So I got Yang Nyum, kamikaze fries, and taro boba. The portions were great. But most of all, he was right about Yang Nyum, delicious! I didn't realize the kamikaze fries had beef, so yummy but I definitely overate that day, lol. One other thing I really liked was you could order at the register or kiosk. This is a great way to avoid lines. Once you order they have a screen that shows your ETA (why do other restaurants not have this?). I did go during the day though. So, I can only imagine how amazing it looks at night. Especially after dancing or bar hopping, the food here would pair well. Koja also sells alcohol too though and apparently downstairs is where the dancing is at. This place is great casual place to try out. Good vibe when walk in. You order at the kiosk and take a number to be served at your table. we had the following: *Crispy Chicken Rice Bowl w/Fries- - Chicken was lightly breaded and the chicken was moist, fries were good not too greasy. 4 *Masubi- rice was not sticky and fell apart, spam could have been brown little more. 2 *Braised Pork Koja- creatively put together. Love the coconut rice, The pork was so delicious and the fried wonton in the middle was a crafty decision and adds a little crunch when bitting into it. Best way to eat it is to pick it up and bite into it like you would a burger to get the full effect. They do give you plastic utensils for it, but I didn't use them. 5 Overall: 4 Definitely will go back to try more items on the menu! read more
Great service, karaoke rooms available, daily specials, and self service option. I really enjoyed my jasmine boba drunk and the gentleman (owner I think?) was such a sweetheart, if definitely visit just for him. A good place to meet with friends and try something new, my cousin comes here a lot and highly recommended visiting. I think this is a more casual spot for food, I would love to come at night. my sandwich was good, I feel that the flavor was lacking but the texture was amazing and everything went well together... Maybe if there was siracha mayo it would taste better? I would get it again with a side of that sauce. read more

The Koja is like a burger, but better [Sacramento CA] Can't remember when I had a Koja burger last. Our Koja Kitchen in Rocklin closed down. This was my first time at the Sacramento location. I am familiar with the menu and ordered the classic "Original Koja" that's like a burger except with the lightly fried garlic rice buns. In between those rice buns is a very tasty combination of Korean BBQ short rib, sesame vinaigrette lettuce, katsu aioli, and sesame seeds. It was a bit messy to eat... needed lots of napkins ツ I paired it with a Strawberry Mango Mint Lemonade... tart and refreshing! Daughter ordered a couple of side dishes: Chicken Gyoza (5pcs) and Kimchi. Great customer service... she was friendly and helpful. Smaller dining area than what we had in Rocklin. I used to come to Koja Kitchen at least once a month when it first opened, it was so good! Today I stopped by as my order at another restaurant nearby was an hour wait and I was hungry and ready to eat! There is a kiosk to order the full menu options. You can also order at the register if you don't like using a kiosk, the young lady was polite and helpful. Order arrived fast, food tasted ok. Kamikaze fries weren't as crispy as I like them, but super tasty as it is topped with bulgogi, Japanese mayo and a red sauce. The chicken wasn't great, serving was chopped up pieces in a thick pasty sauce. I was expecting chicken thigh or breast that is usually bbq'd and sliced. The other part of the bowl was lettuce blend, rice and kimchi. I will not order this again, I will stick to my usual fries and wings next time. Restaurant looks spacious from the outside patio and inside seating. It may need some TLC. I hope they are doing the best they can in this economy as so many other restaurants are closing up shop downtown. read more
The food was delish.... we got the short rib bowl and the Zen Teriyaki bowl. But I wish the location was better. Especially the bathroom situation... u have to go down a dark stairwell that takes u underground and the bathrooms themselves r dingy, dark and scary. Seriously, straight out of a scary movie! I sure do miss their Rocklin location. I love Sac but this location kinda sucks.... even in the middle.of a day on a Sunday. We probably won't be back. Sadly. read more

Visiting from LA and finally found a place that serves food with flavor. Easily felt like I was back in downtown LA eating at a Ktown spot because of how much the food reminded me of the flavors from back home. If you're in the area looking for good food, this is the spot. Ordered the waffle fries with the beef to share, two of the beef plate that comes with kimchi and rice, and a (boba) lemonade. I do wish the lemonade came with the option to get a bigger cup as it's a regular sized cup (it was not a fountain drink), but not sure if that drink in specific came with that option. Good food serving size for the price (if you're looking for big portion sizes, this isn't for you.) read more
I got the loaded fries. Burger and drink. The drink. Strawberry mint lemonade was delicious and refreshing. Fries were delicious but the portion is way too small for $8. It's food truck size. Arguably even less. The burger. This was more on the disappointing side. Need stronger marinade on the beef. The rice patty probably could have used just a tad bit longer fry for texture. The outside had a crisp but the moment I bit into it. The rest of it started to fall apart. I ended up using a fork unfortunately. All of this would probably go well as a rice bowl. All in all. It's about average for what I had. Had I gotten a rice bowl. I probably would've said 4 stars. It still is missing that wow factor. And the fries are just too small portion. read more
Love everything about Koja! The staff is very friendly & it's just all around a vibe inside- the bar downstairs just tops it off. Prior to coming to this location, we haven't had Koja in over 2 years (our location closed). The food is still so amazing & well seasoned. The bbq ribs are extremely flavorful. I don't recall them having boba drinks before, but they do at this location AND they offer Thai tea with nondairy milk (a HUGE plus for me). Looking forward to coming back soon! read more

How can I forget to wrote a review about this place?! Came here on a whim in the midst of a pub crawl starving and was pleasantly surprised by the offerings. We ordered: -Umami fries -Chicken tacos -Thai tea with boba Boy was Everything tasty! To be fair it was at the beginning of the crawl so we were still very much sober lol They service was pretty great and the order station was like a well oiled machine. I would love to come back and try some other offerings sometime soon. The place is in a prime location and the overall vibe of the restaurant is great to share a meal. Can't wait to return to see what else they have maybe during happy hour if they have it. Parking around the location is pretty expensive if you can find a meter go for that it fairs a lot cheaper in the long run. read more
This place was very interesting for a hang out spot. If you're staying only at the top floor, it's like a regular place for food and drinks. But if you go downstairs to the bathroom, you find that there's a whole bar located down there and the lights to the bathroom is trippy. It looked so interesting, but I was catching up with my friend so we stayed on top. It's pretty cool that you can switch environments like that. Food wise, their specialties are the bowls and burgers, but I only had stomach for the shareable foods today unfortunately. We got the umami fries and soy garlic chicken. I also got myself a black milk tea. Umami Fries - The fries are very large in size and had a chucks of pulled pork on top. The flavors were good, but I wish there was more sauce and pork on top. We were talking too much to order more, so that's on me, but I'll definitely ask for more sauce next time Soy Garlic Chicken - This sauce I love. It's very sweet and savory and I cleaned the chicken off the bone for every one I ate. Black Milk Tea - The milk tea was good, but I feel the boba isn't coated in any sweetener. It's chewy but a little more on the mushy side. I recommend getting the drink and skipping the boba part. But for the price, it's pretty enjoyable. The workers here were also very nice. We got confused when there was a sign saying the bathroom is downstairs and all we saw was a bar. Luckily one of the workers heard and helped us locate it. read more

Save your money and go elsewhere.. sad food and it's frustrating paying so much for garbage. Two pieces of meat on a $13 rice burger?! Stuffed with lettuce and rice falling apart on the Koja burger. My daughter musubi is even worse. The rice is wet. Avocado is old af, look at the seaweed.. unacceptable. If I have time, it'd stand in front of their business and stop ppl from coming in. Plus the girl was there yelling at the poor guy in the back. Will never come back read more
Koja Kitchen was very tasty! We went to the kings game so we wanted to find a place nearby to eat beforehand, and Koja did not disappoint! I got the beef bun burger with egg and I liked it a lot! It was very flavorful and the staff was friendly. Parking can be tough in the area, especially on game days. It also got pretty busy so keep that in mind as well. read more

We went for a late dinner after skating at the Downtown ice rink. We ordered at the kiosk and waited around 15mins for our food. Beef koja: The rice burger was delicious! The meat was tender and full of flavor (sweet and salty). They gave generous portion of meat. The rice had the perfect crispiness. I docked one star because the premises was dirty. The garbage bin was overflowing and the table was sticky. read more

I came to Koja Kitchen before the Fall Out Boy concert and it was packed! I ordered the Kamikaze fries and it was the perfect snack before going to a concert. The BBQ beef was so juicy and perfectly marinated. I also loved how the fries stayed crisp with all the toppings which is something I always look for when it comes to loaded fries. Considering it was packed and having limited staff, the service was fine! For the location, I also think they have amole seating as there's tables both inside and outside. read more

Came here after running a marathon and it definitely hit the spot! Was craving some wings and their soy garlic was pretty tasty. Service was pretty fast and friendly. This place also has a karaoke and a bar lounge downstairs which is pretty cool; need to check that out the next time I come back to Sac! read more
Really friendly staff. We stumbled on this place when the window signs caught our eye. The umami fries are the bomb. Food was really hot and flavorful. Even as we were deciding whether to enter someone came out expressing that we should try it and that the food is really good. Very casual and chill place although we did walk in mid day (between lunch and dinner) on a Saturday. Would love to come back here if I'm ever in the area as prices were good and food was delicious. read more
I didn't try the actual kitchen but they have a very small bar and some karaoke rooms downstairs and it's a vibe! It's super small but seems to have a full fall, playing some good tunes and has some lights so it is pretty fun!! The bartender we had was so sweet and helpful and the drinks were yummy. Located in a fairly busy part of downtown, it's quite easy to get to. If you're at Golden 1 Center for a Kings game, concert, event, or anything else, it's just across the street (from the practice facility side). Even with its location, this place felt more down-to-earth compared to the DOCO eateries. That is extremely subjective though. Anyhow, the food we ordered was solid. I got a rice bowl and Kamikaze fries, and I really liked both. I'm not in downtown that often, but I'd definitely put this on the list of places I'd be open to eating at if I were in the vicinity. One side of the restaurant is nearly entirely window, so you can even do some people watching as you chow down on your grub. If you do go at a busy time, there may not be enough spots for everyone to sit down. I will say that the tables would also benefit from more cleaning in between patrons; however, with the amount of traffic they receive, it's understandable that their small staff prioritizes the food first. Fountain sodas are available and refillable, and that will always get brownie points with me. read more

Can we pick substitutes on family meals via Doordash?

Is the kbar area 21+? Do they allow 18+ into the karaoke rooms?
Hi. You can reserve and use the karaoke room even if you are under 21. Just no alcohol is allow to purchase or serve. Thank you
