I've been here before as you can see my previous review. I made the trip here again and since it was cold and rainy I wanted to try their hot udon. Sine that did not seem like it'd be enough, I also ordered potato croquettes. The udon broth and noodles were pretty good. They put various fish cakes as well but I think they don't use often for the fish taste was stronger than I usually know of fish cake so maybe old. The croquettes were fried to a nice crispy outside and soft on inside. My only complaint is they had the wrong sauce. One was like a teriyaki and the other was a mayo based one. I've always use tonkatsu sauce for my croquettes. I just ate them plain.

Food was really good and fresh. The portions were solid and definitely filling. Everything tasted well seasoned without being too heavy. I'd definitely come back again.

Tempura udon, perfect for the cold weather

This is a favorite place. Have ordered different plates in the past and they were all satisfying. Favorite is the spicy chicken which is their version of the chicken karaage (fried chicken). Love the steamed vegetables. Service is good. There is enough seats inside but I see a lot of people pick up takeouts which I have done in the past as well. Today tried the tempura udon for the cold weather and enjoyed it. Thank you.

Teriyaki time!

Got the combo of spicy thai chicken and beef teriyaki with rice and veggies which was a perfect pair. The spicy thai chicken was spicy enough for my taste while the beef teriyaki was sweet which made them a complimentary pair. The service was fast and the crew were nice. The tables and chairs were clean enough but there were only a few available.

Good service and servings. The daily lubch specials are good. I really like the Tuesdays & Thursdays lunch. But sometimes the chicken is cooked a bit to well. It still a great meal but i like my meat tender.

Chicken teriyaki - extremely dry
Randy T.

Chicken was so dry and hard it was completely inedible, I had to throw out a 50 dollar dinner and go somewhere else.

Ask the Community - Teriyaki Time

Did this place go out of business? I know several days ago they were closed and when calling them they mentioned something about a breakdown at their restaurant. I find it hard to believe that a breakdown to put them out of business for this long.

I believe that they are planning to reopen in January.

This is a funny place for me as I've been here more than a few times, yet I don't have a favorite beer or food item but not because I don't like the food or the beer but because the more things I try the more things I had to my favorites list at this incredible brewery. This particular visit was on a Tuesday and they have a great pint beer special on Mondays and Tuesdays with $5 select pints all day. On this day we decided to go with Weird is the new Normal-a West Coast IPA($5.00) & a Luna De Miel-a Mexican Amber($5.00). Both beers were very refreshing and went down super easy and I've added both to my "will order again " list. For food I ended up ordering Brisket Tacos ($14.00) off the appetizer list and a Pulled Pork Sandwich($17.00) off the sandwich list. I upgraded my fries to Garlic Fries for an additional fee-I think $1 but not sure as I was being treated that day. This is the kid of place where u walk up to counter and place an order for your beer and food then they give u a number and will bring your grub out to ya at whatever table u can find. They have both indoor and outside seating-I prefer outside seating this time of year. Food was delivered very fast-in under 10 minutes. Brisket Tacos were super simple but still wonderful -really soft tortilla with a nice chew and flavor topped with their famous juicy tender perfectly flavored brisket with onions and cilantro as a topper-they are excellent because of the quality of the brisket. 8.8/10 Pulled Pork Sandwich was the item that stood out that day-pulled pork was smoked perfectly and smothered with a perfect amount of their BBQ sauce and one of their famous onion rings is in the sandwich also topped with BBQ sauce. The bun they use was so soft and meshed perfectly with the soft tasty bite of the pulled pork. 9.4/10 I really do love all of my visits to Urban Roots as every visit has been positive-I've recommended this place to many of my friends who visit from out of town for a high quality yet casual dining experience & if that isn't enough of a recommendation, the day I visited was my actual birthday and this was the place I choose to celebrate-I love this place that much.

It's a huge place but it still somehow feels like home. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves and they have tvs all over the place. I mentioned Abby but I'd like to give a shout out to everyone working, I accidentally dropped my drink and was cleaning the mess and two different staff members came and took over. Not gonna like, I was a little embarrassed but Abby (and another gentleman whose I didn't catch, my bad man) insisted on remaking my drink for me and made me feel less embarrassed. Food, food was locked in tight! The bumpkins (fire, it's an American bbq egg roll ) and the Dougie sandwich (a burger not to be taken lightly) were both so good I felt time stop for a moment. Looking for some killer bbq and a chill atmosphere, come here. It is a bit expensive but worth it, enjoy yo self.

For two of us, we ended up getting the meat combo with the sausage, tri tip, burnt ends, and wings. For sides we went with the waffle fries and make a cheese. Honestly the best thing we had was the waffle fries with their seasoning. Easily some of the best tasting waffle fries I've had. For the meats though, it was a bit disappointing. Everything was kinda cold/room temp and didn't taste fresh. Even with the sauces added, I felt like the meats were pretty bland. Not sure if it was a bad day or not but it was a miss for me either way. If you are coming to watch sports though, this is a great spot. The space inside is so massive and TVs everywhere. Again, I think we might've gotten it on a bad day, so I wouldn't be opposed to trying it again if I'm back visiting the area.

Using the yelp app. Due to glitching with the internet service one order was duplicate 7 more times in error and the order went through. Thinking someone from the restaurant would also respond wondering if this was correct that someone would be ordering the same exact thing in quantity. Online with Grubhub they left me on hold for 45 minutes and once I reached this location, after I also sent an email, I was told to call another location that was closed. I held one line and called Grubhub from my husband's phone. We are now 30 minutes from the original order being placed and they say it's in process and can't be stopped. Two hours later a delivery person showed up with all this food. We try to declined the order and the driver, nice guy, tells us to call again to get it addressed. All this food going to go to waste. So I thought I'd try Family's. Ordered the brisket and chicken and a slice of pecan pie. The brisket was aight', well done and pretty light on the sauce. The chicken, really dry, yet enough sauce. The pecan pie was ample. I think I might have made it better on my own.....and I've never made a pecan pie before. I'm a small business supporter, and so I thought I'd give Family's another try. The next weekend....... Back to the previous week, while waiting for our food, a couple was waiting for cornbread they had ordered, and were waiting the entire time, and then some, during the entire time I had been there to place, wait, pay and leave with my order. So I'm thinkin' "this cornbread must be good! and popular." When I called the next week, to place an order which included this supposedly amazing (the story I made up in my head) cornbread, we were told that there wouldn't be any cornbread that day due to the fact they didn't have the ingredients to make, said cornbread. With a Raley's AND Save-Mart within walking distance from Family's. None the less, I'm gonna try a third time.....cause I hear that's the charm. I gotchu' Family's, I want to see you succeed and I wanna make you one of my spots, in case Kaylo's decides to go m.i.a. again. Ambience was cool, may wanna turn up the decor and 'vibe' a bit. Wow that was incredible!…read more For my dad's birthday and fathers day we ordered bbq tri-tip, ribs and mac and cheese. My brother and his wife found Silverback BBQ through a friend who highly recommended trying this for a party. We wanted something special for the birthday and my dad loves bbq. Ok we all love it but this was all geared for my dad. I bbq and smoke meats sometimes so I have some idea what to expect. I knew the food was going to be great just from word of mouth and some of the pictures on his site so the expectations were high. We paid extra to have the food delivered. Communication and payment was easy. Silverback BBQ (Carl is his name if I recall) and his wife both delivered the food. I was worried it might be cold but the special container he used, some kind of large carrier or crate kept the food very warm. It was steaming when everything was placed on the table. The smell was amazing! He proceeded to cut up the tri-tip into slices. I can't remember if the ribs were already cut or not before or during. He had made everything to our own specifications. We wanted medium well, somewhat spicy with some sweet and that's exactly what we got. The tri-tip had a beautiful cherry smoke ring on it. It was juicy and tender. The ribs were perfect. Again juicy, easy to bite off the bone but it didn't just fall apart, had some pull to it(which is good!). Flavor was great. Let's just say my sister who never eats ribs had a second helping. Price was great for everything that was included. I wasn't expecting Carl to also cut the tri-tip in front of us and serve everything. He took a lot of care to make things very enjoyable and I'm serious about that. Aside from the food I give his service 100% perfect. The whole process was entertaining and fun plus he took pictures with my dad and some of the family. I can't describe his personality with enough credit. He's just a cool dude for lack of a better word. Professional but cool. Looking forward to the next event when we can order more!
