The food is is lovely but it is a bit pricey for what you would expect- however I did notice they have discounted meals so I may try that next time. For an appetizer we got their ahi tuna and for my meal I had a shrimp teriyaki bento. Everything was super flavorful and came out quickly. The shrimp was plump and juicy and the teriyaki sauce was not too sweet. They have a really good variety of veggies that come with the bento which i really appreciate. My client offered to buy lunch and picked Bento Box. I've never been but love sushi. Ordered the Ahi Poke bowl, expecting rice and edamame and idk, yummy bits. Got tuna in sauce with a couple tablespoons of soggy rice noodles. This was supposed to be my lunch before my next client. I feel bad she paid $17 for this but super glad I didn't! I have visited Bento Box multiple times in the past, and it has always been one of my favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience this past weekend. I ordered three sushi rolls and shrimp tempura for takeout. When I got home and began eating, I immediately noticed a strong fishy odor and an unusual texture in the sushi rolls. Upon closer inspection, I found that the tempura inside the rolls was extremely hard, discolored, and almost gray in appearance. I called the restaurant to report the issue, and the manager offered only to remake the sushi. However, by that point I was already 30 minutes away and was unable to return to the restaurant. I was told that my contact information would be passed along to upper management so the issue could be resolved, but I never received any follow-up communication. Since then, I have called several times in an attempt to obtain a refund. To make matters worse, both the person I shared the food with and I became sick the following day with symptoms consistent with food poisoning. Despite multiple attempts to reach someone, I have not received any assistance or response from the manager, Bruce, regarding this matter. I am very disappointed with both the quality of the food and the lack of customer service. I hope someone from management will contact me soon to address this issue and provide a refund. read more

That was pretty yummy. We attended the teaspoon grand opening and was so hungry bc of the wait so we stopped by here. I ordered a bento box #1. It came out to be $21 and some change and we also add tips on top. So somewhere around $25. It came with a salad and inside the bento box it has the teriyaki chicken, 4 dynamite sushi pieces, white rice and tempora shrimps and some fried veggies. It was a good snack to share with my sister and daughter while we waited in line for our drinks. But it is definitely getting pricey for a bento box. Found the placethrough Yelp and not to far from the hotel. It's in a large shopping center so lots of parking. The menu is pretty extensive with sushi and bento plates. I ordered teriyaki beef and mixed tempura which came with a regular sushi roll. The beef was similar to bulgogi and pretty tender and easy to eat. The tempura was interesting in that the shrimp seemed to be pre-made frozen but the veggies were in-house battered. The sushi roll i ordered was negihama. It was okay. You order at the counter and they give you a number to put on the table. They bring the food to your table. It is a nice place to eat with a good number of tables to sit at. read more

I ordered the salmon skin handroll and a roll - can't remember the name. The salmon skin was delicious but the portions were off. There was way more cucumber than salmon skin in my handroll. The sushi roll I ordered was good too. I really liked that the slices of fresh peppers on top were actually spicy! It's pretty pricey now. I remember coming here while I was a college student at Sac State and really getting a bang for my buck. That's no longer the case...my one handroll and sushi roll was nearly $30! read more

Probably closer to 3.5 stars than an even 3. I've been to this strip mall dozens of times and I've driven by the Bento Box a bunch. I don't think I ever thought to try it though. I was driving and craving sushi, went to Yelp and this popped up. I went over and ordered some food just as they opened. It took some time to get the order which I'm okay with. They actually prep as orders are placed and that's a huge plus. The menu is vast and had something for everyone. Lots of cream cheese options, which I refuse to even attempt, lots of fried options and good selection of rolls. Bento box options are solid too and the quality was good. Nothing special and nothing crazy. Just solid, delicious, relatively cheaper sushi options than the fancy pants spots down the road. Take out service was great, considering it was packed and all orders take place at the counter. Nice flow of food coming out and being delivered quickly. read more

I'd say the atmosphere is pretty casual here. There's about a couple of outdoor seating tables and some indoor seating. First you order at the counter then the food gets brought to you. With that said, I didn't expect full service. The poor cashier was running the food, taking orders, AND in between in person orders she picked up the phone to take phone orders. Poor gal but kudos to her! With it being that busy, it took about 20 minutes from the moment I lined up to order my food (around 7pm on a Monday) and 15-20 mins to get my food. Hot, fresh, cwispy chicken, and fluffy rice. They were all oh so gooooood. I was not sharing. Got the spicy popcorn chicken with sauce on the side cause I knew I'd have to take my food to go and didnt want my chicken getting soggy. I used to go here all the time but haven't in years. The outside seating is gonna, maybe they just do that part of the year. But part of the seating inside was closed off too. It was Friday night and it wasn't busy but the one person upfront was doing everything. Answering the phones, running food, giving to go order to customer, and taking orders. I probably waiting for 10 ten minutes. A man that came in after me stood at the register and the woman waved me over to be helped 1st. I had stood to the side to be out of her way as she was running back and forth. I appreciated her calling me over instead of playing dumb and making me confront the man about being before him. She took my order, I paid, I didn't add the tip at this point and gave me a number for my table and I got to sit wherever I wanted. The food came out so quickly I was surprised. I waited longer just to put in my order. Can't recall what I order but it was great and filling. Two different people checked on a me a few times and offer a togo box. Horrible customer service. Where do I even begin? This place has *zero* regard for its customers. I went in for a simple meal, and not only did they give me the wrong order, but their customer service was absolutely atrocious. When I tried to explain the mistake, instead of offering to fix it in any meaningful way, they told me I'd have to *drive all the way back* in the pouring rain, spend more time, and *pay the difference* to get the correct order. Are you kidding me? It's not even about the $2 difference--it's about the utter lack of respect for your time and money. And don't even get me started on the *extra charges*. They literally charge $1.25 for extra sauce. Why? Because apparently, they're so money-hungry, they'll nickel-and-dime you over *everything*. The food? Don't get me started. Full of MSG, I know the establishment from prior work experience , I used to over look but now that I've seen how they prepare it, it's honestly gross. There are bins in the back with MSG labeled. seeing how this place has changed over the years just confirms that I should never set foot in here again. It's clear they don't care about their customers--they just want your money, no matter how badly they treat you. As a business owner myself I know the value of treating customers well.
