I've been coming to this sushi restaurant for over a decade, and it's easily one of my personal favorites. I first started visiting back in high school, occasionally walking here after school, and now it's become a regular spot for my family--we dine here at least every other month. The sushi rolls are consistently delicious and savory, with fair portions. Their appetizers are also worth mentioning: they serve the best agedashi tofu I've had at any sushi restaurant--it's perfectly crisp on the outside and silky inside. The lava bites are warm, crispy, and a satisfying treat while you wait for your sushi. The chefs are friendly and approachable. You can sit near them, watch them prepare your sushi, and even strike up a conversation. There are also TVs showing sports games, adding to the casual and welcoming vibe. The restaurant is small and cozy, which gives it a homey feel, but the service can be hit or miss. Servers have rotated frequently over the years, and they tend to be on the younger side--similar in vibe to Dutch Bros employees. Some have been exceptional but are no longer around, while others are clearly inexperienced, often hiding in the kitchen or chatting with coworkers, making it harder to get their attention. There's currently one standout server who consistently provides prompt and accurate service, but the newer staff could use improvement, as they sometimes come across as distracted extroverts who struggle to divide their attention between customers and coworkers. Be mindful of the restaurant's hours: it's closed from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and closes at 9:00 PM, so don't expect to be seated if you arrive close to closing time--you can still order takeout, though. Lunch hours are quieter with usually just one chef taking orders, but dinner (especially on weekends) can be extremely busy and lively, with wait times sometimes reaching 30 minutes. I've also attended special events here, which they advertise on their Facebook page. I've been to an omakase night ($100 for 10 courses -- I included photos of most of them) and a spicy night (featuring dishes with increasing spiciness). Both events were lively, interactive, and wholesome, with free sake offered--a fun experience, but spots fill up fast, so booking in advance is a must. The owner also offers catering for events, which keeps him busy, but he's active on social media and regularly shares customer experiences. This restaurant's cozy and familiar vibe may not be for everyone. If you're not a regular or prefer a quieter setting, you might feel a bit out of place. But for me, it feels nostalgic and welcoming--a place filled with memories and consistently great food.

I was really in the mood for sushi. I ordered unagi and sashimi chef's choice. It was really good. They had a fundraiser for my nieces rugby team.

As we walked in tonight at 8:30pm (and they close at 9), we were greeted and asked how our day was. We felt a little bad walking so close to closing time, but everyone working made us feel absolutely welcome. We even got to partake in a Wasabi eating contest! We sat right up at the sushi bar and ordered the Nine Eleven Roll, the Zubi roll, and the Omakase Roll (chefs choice & creation), with a couple of large Sapporo's. Marc introduced himself as our food was coming out. This is definitely an upbeat sushi joint and we've been to many... and not living close at all, I definitely would take the time to drive here to have great sushi. Our sushi was absolutely Delicious! Delicious! DELICIOUS!!!! It was fresh! Had the crunch we were craving and looked like perfection. We were never rushed... in fact, they told us to take our time! It looks like they can seat up to about 75 people and maybe 8-10 more at the sushi bar. Parking was shared with a large parking lot with many other businesses. Service from Madeline was awesome... but Marc was the one that made our trip worth coming all the way out here for. Friendly & upbeat.... he is reMARCable!

Everyone that has worked here over the years that I've been eating here has been nice and friendly. The food is always as expected and delicious! The owner is an amazing guy and always has a smile on his face. The place can be crowded but usually can get sat quickly. The tables are close together but it makes for a fun time. I love coming to this place and love the fun times I always have here.

Ask the Community - Silver Sake

Do they have any rolls made with-/or/ the option to replace white rice with- BROWN RICE? Or even NON-rice rolled sushi//gluten free options?

Hi Brandon, we don't have brown rice as an option but you can wrap any roll in cucumber instead of rice if you would like.

We arrived around 5 p.m. and were one of just a few parties seated, so it was quiet and relaxed. The first thing we noticed was how beautifully decorated it was inside. Like others have mentioned, the exterior might not catch your eye right away, but once you step in, it's vibrant and welcoming. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. We ordered the sashimi nigiri plate, agedashi tofu, and an eel roll (I can't remember the exact name). Every dish was excellent -- the fish was incredibly fresh, and the agedashi sauce was bursting with flavor. Honestly, it's the best agedashi tofu we've had so far! We were too hungry to snap photos this time, but I'll definitely add some on our next visit. Highly recommend checking out Akira Sushi if you're in the area -- great food, warm service, and such a pleasant surprise overall.

You definitely felt like you were in a Japanese restaurant. The menu was impressive! Everything had pictures which is so amazing! It was just easier having an idea of what to pick based on looking at the pictures. There were all kinds of sushi rolls, bento boxes, noodles, appetizers and plates. We decided to get the ramen, salmon katsu, and tempura bowl. Food came our really quick. Portions were good and everything we tasted wonderful. It definitely satisfied our craving. The tempura was crispy. The ramen broth was rich and noodles nice and chewy. The bento box came with gyoza, salad, tempura, oranges, miso soup and rice. Service was great. They were attentive, and friendly. Eating with our littles ones is never easy and we appreciated how patient they were with us. We loved the food and hope to come back and try their sushi next!

Ambiance: 6/10 This isn't a fancy sushi joint, and honestly, that's part of the charm. It gives classic mom and pop vibes if they had an express train running through. Big open seating area with booths along the wall, standard tables in the middle, and a sushi bar up front. It's casual, quick, and comfy... perfect for what it is. Service: 8/10 The service was great! It's one of those team effort places where everyone checks on you, refills drinks, and makes sure you're taken care of. Super friendly, no complaints at all. Food: 10/10 We kicked it off with the garlic edamame, which came out nice and hot, perfectly seasoned, and not too heavy on the garlic. For rolls, we got the King Kong Roll, deep fried, and the Sundown Roll (no unagi for me)and wow... that King Kong Roll slapped. Definitely the star of the show. Deep-fried deliciousness never fails. 10/10 would recommend. I'll absolutely keep coming back. If you enjoy mikuni and the likes and enjoy your rolls, this might not be the place for ya. You want it at fast food speed, yeah unlikely. Nothing wrong with that but stick to mikuni and other random "sushi" spots and skip writing that bad review due to your personal expectations and experiences, or lack thereof. I love food. I travel for food. I use the Michelin stars as a guide and will never call myself a foodie. If I had to explain it, I'm a food connoisseur. I know when I'm here I want the sushi bar so there's no lag time for the nigiri (many steps to eating nigiri but I'll spare ya and timing is crucial) to touch my tongue. The special dishes are always amazing. I have never tried a roll lol. I travel for food and we all know sushi rolls is an American made concept of fast food "sushi". Very mom and pop and possibly understaffed at times but customer flow can also be extremely inconsistent. Let's all have a bit of compassion and be slightly understanding and come for the best real Japanese food in North America (yes I would know I'm a star chaser without a budget) and an authentic experience akin to Japan. It's incredibly reasonably priced and I would easily pay 3x. But at 3x I might need mood lighting haha. Sit at the sushi bar, talk to the chefs, try new things, be open minded and patient, and maybe then you can learn to love this place too.
