Taiko Sushi - at a glance (June 2025)
Sam R.

Friday, 6/20/2025 - Went to eat at Taiko Sushi because my little one wanted to try it. Address is 6241 Fair Oaks Blvd, Ste F, Carmichael, CA 95608. When we walked in, there were several tables in there and a Sushi bar. I saw two people at the bar eating. A large table full of people enjoying their foods. Upon arrival.... Pros 1) this is one large room with another restaurant right next to it and a bar behind it. When arrived, we just sat ourselves at a table. There was no sign for us to wait to be seated. 2) server was very nice. 3) we got our water quick. Water tasted good. 4) Sushi and bento box was good. Sauces were very salty. Chicken katsu was moist and good. 5) server paid attention to the tables with customers and made sure to bring the tab as soon as they were done eating. 6) as I mentioned, it's one large room with several businesses inside there is a bathroom in the back. You have to walk past the bar to get to the bathroom. 7) lots of parking. Easy to find parking. 8) Happy Hour is M - F, 4-6pm Cons 1) it is on the pricier side, but foods are good. 2) Conclusion We liked this place. It was good. Staffs were nice.

Bento box

I've been here a couple of times for takeout, and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite spots! The food is consistently delicious, and I really appreciate their extensive selection of vegetarian options. Whether it's their creative rolls or their hearty bento boxes, there's always something exciting to try. This time, I went with a bento box for dinner, and the staff was kind enough to accommodate my request for fried tofu as the entree. It was perfectly cooked--crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The portion sizes are generous, and the bento box came with a variety of sides, making it a fantastic deal for the price. The staff is always friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant experience every time. Plus, the prices are reasonable for the quality and amount of food you get. Now that we've moved closer to Milagro, I can see this becoming a regular go-to spot for us. Highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area!

Gyoza ( I ate one or two already)

Came here with a friend last week for lunch. The restaurant has a very interesting layout as it is split with another restaurant. I found the menu to be a bit pricey when it came to the rolls. I figured why not try it. It was my first time there I had ordered sashimi, gyoza, and the taiko roll. The sashimi was a nice cut and had a great flavor the size was decent as well. The gyoza was hot and fresh and came with a really delicious dipping sauce. However, when it came to the roll, I was very disappointed. All I could taste was rice. I felt that the rolls had too much rice in it, and it was very dense for being a $19 roll. It barely had any fish in it. The service was great tho and we had an awesome waiter.

Great service and fresh sushi!! Staff is friendly, fast and sushi has quality portions, not overloaded with rice. So happy we found this place!

Went with good friends and we all picked a roll. Every single one was delicious!!!

We received great service from the waitresses we had. They were kind and genuine, answering all our questions and offering suggestions. It was also fun to watch the Automatic Server Robot rolling around. Everyone in our group ordered their pick Sushi Roll, so we tried 4. We all agreed that Taiko's Sushi was fresh tasting and very well put together. Love the Ambiance and chill, relaxing energy at Milagro Centre. We will be going back.

Attention! Veggie/vegan sushi & delish! Why aren't more people talking about how delicious this place is? Healthy amount of vegan sushi menu, great service and love the atmosphere that is shared with the neighboring restaurant. Ramen won't be vegan but there is udon, Can't wait to try more!

Spicy CA Roll (Top) Atlantis Roll (Bottom)

This sushi place was located in a very nice plaza with amazing decorations. The restaurant layout was very different from what I have experienced before. It shared a space with an Italian restaurant and a bakery/cafe style outlet. My friend and I got seated very quick and got our orders taken immediately after. My friend got the Spicy California roll and I got the Atlantis roll and one order of salmon nigiri. The spicy california tasted like a basic california roll and therefore was not worth the extra $3. As for my Atlantis roll, they had an issue with the menu being inconsistent with their other locations so my roll was different from what was promised. However, the attentive server was very nice and apologetic and remade the roll for us, how it was supposed to be. Although the service was splendid, the food was lackluster. I've heard their bento boxes are delicious and worth it, but I would go somewhere else for sushi.

The food is good and close to Mikuni' standard. We got to support this small sushi restaurant so they can afford the best quality fish.

We arrived around 5 p.m. and were one of just a few parties seated, so it was quiet and relaxed. The first thing we noticed was how beautifully decorated it was inside. Like others have mentioned, the exterior might not catch your eye right away, but once you step in, it's vibrant and welcoming. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. We ordered the sashimi nigiri plate, agedashi tofu, and an eel roll (I can't remember the exact name). Every dish was excellent -- the fish was incredibly fresh, and the agedashi sauce was bursting with flavor. Honestly, it's the best agedashi tofu we've had so far! We were too hungry to snap photos this time, but I'll definitely add some on our next visit. Highly recommend checking out Akira Sushi if you're in the area -- great food, warm service, and such a pleasant surprise overall.

I would have never thought a Japanese restaurant was here. The inside was another story! The inside is decorated with all kinds of Japanese pictures and decor. You definitely felt like you were in a Japanese restaurant. The menu was impressive! Everything had pictures which is so amazing! It was just easier having an idea of what to pick based on looking at the pictures. There were all kinds of sushi rolls, bento boxes, noodles, appetizers and plates. We decided to get the ramen, salmon katsu, and tempura bowl. Food came our really quick. Portions were good and everything we tasted wonderful. It definitely satisfied our craving. The tempura was crispy. The ramen broth was rich and noodles nice and chewy. The bento box came with gyoza, salad, tempura, oranges, miso soup and rice. Service was great. They were attentive, and friendly. Eating with our littles ones is never easy and we appreciated how patient they were with us. We loved the food and hope to come back and try their sushi next!

Ambiance: 6/10 This isn't a fancy sushi joint, and honestly, that's part of the charm. It gives classic mom and pop vibes if they had an express train running through. Big open seating area with booths along the wall, standard tables in the middle, and a sushi bar up front. It's casual, quick, and comfy... perfect for what it is. Service: 8/10 The service was great! It's one of those team effort places where everyone checks on you, refills drinks, and makes sure you're taken care of. Super friendly, no complaints at all. Food: 10/10 We kicked it off with the garlic edamame, which came out nice and hot, perfectly seasoned, and not too heavy on the garlic. For rolls, we got the King Kong Roll, deep fried, and the Sundown Roll (no unagi for me)and wow... that King Kong Roll slapped. Definitely the star of the show. Deep-fried deliciousness never fails. 10/10 would recommend. I'll absolutely keep coming back. Next time I might switch it up with one of their bento boxes they're also bomb and come in generous portions. Don't sleep on this spot!

Uh still my fav, if anything I have grown to love this place even more…read more If you like authentic real Japanese food aka you have been to Japan more than a handful of times and do not care for tourist traps, you will LOVE it here. If you enjoy mikuni and the likes and enjoy your rolls, this might not be the place for ya. You want it at fast food speed, yeah unlikely. Nothing wrong with that but stick to mikuni and other random "sushi" spots and skip writing that bad review due to your personal expectations and experiences, or lack thereof. I love food. I travel for food. I use the Michelin stars as a guide and will never call myself a foodie. If I had to explain it, I'm a food connoisseur. I know when I'm here I want the sushi bar so there's no lag time for the nigiri (many steps to eating nigiri but I'll spare ya and timing is crucial) to touch my tongue. The special dishes are always amazing. I have never tried a roll lol. I travel for food and we all know sushi rolls is an American made concept of fast food "sushi". Very mom and pop and possibly understaffed at times but customer flow can also be extremely inconsistent. Let's all have a bit of compassion and be slightly understanding and come for the best real Japanese food in North America (yes I would know I'm a star chaser without a budget) and an authentic experience akin to Japan. It's incredibly reasonably priced and I would easily pay 3x. But at 3x I might need mood lighting haha. Sit at the sushi bar, talk to the chefs, try new things, be open minded and patient, and maybe then you can learn to love this place too.
