Confirming our reservation even though they were closed on this date.

We called and spoke to someone at the restaurant on 5/24 for a reservation for 5/25. Then, we received a text message- attached- on 5/25 to confirm our reservation. So we've talked to someone onsite and received a text that we were all set for my parents 41st wedding anniversary dinner..... but then we showed up and they were closed for Memorial Day. And being closed is okay! But why talk to us on the phone and text us? To top it off, we came from out of town for this dinner and we saw 5 other parties come for their reservations and no one told them that the restaurant was closed either. We took our business elsewhere, this was extremely disappointing.

I had a great time at Raw sushi with my family on a Monday. We enjoyed quite a few happy hour menu options including the hand rolls, fried gyoza and fried chicken karaage. For dinner, I had the Golden Shrimp Roll which was really good. Also, for desert we tried the mochi ice cream too which was a nice way to end the meal. I love the ambiance and service here. I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a nice sit down sushi restaurant.

My husband and I took our aunt here to celebrate her belated birthday. We arrived at 6pm on a Sunday and it wasn't very busy. There was a mixup with the server so it took really long for someone to assist us. After placing order, food arrived shortly after. We ordered vegetable tempura, spicy salmon roll, sesame chicken entree, and 2 deluxe nigiri (10 pc each). Everything was very tasty and made fresh. Huge portions, slight slow service in the beginning but once we have a server established, I like that our server checked on us throughout the night and asked if we wanted refills for our tea a few times without us flagging her down.

My sister and I stopped by for lunch thought the bar lounge looked like a great lounge with the large lit up bar. But we were here for that... We were looking forward to trying the sushi. Also, we found out that it was happy hour so that was a treat for us! We orders a few things from the happy hour menu. A beer, Lycheetini (so good), albacore carpaccio, yellowtail/pepper fin razor, spicy tuna hand roll and spicy salmon hand roll. I couldn't tell the difference from the sushi because it all looked the same. I love shishito peppers and thought they were undercooked. One thing I noticed that I had never seen before was slices of tomato on the sushi. Presentation was ok and the taste was just ok to me. I also thought the tap water served tasted odd. Overall, our lunch happy hour bill was about $80. Not what I expected but maybe in the near future I'll give them another try.

We decided to get sushi for the night so we stopped at Raw. There was open seating so no reservations were needed at this time for Friday. It pretty big in side and well decorated. We were set promptly by a window and our order was taken for drinks. I ordered the Lychee Martini, which was very light in spirits. I don't know if it was the location where we were seated but there was a fruit fly that kept around which I did not appreciate. The sushi came out pretty promptly. It was within 10minutes. It tasted fresh. I would say it would've been a perfect dinner if it wasn't for that bothersome fruit fly...

I've been a fan of RAW Sushi since their early days in Modesto and Stockton, so I was thrilled when they opened an upscale version in Elk Grove. My family and I have always enjoyed their rolls -- the quality is consistently excellent, and everything tastes fresh. Their specialty rolls, in particular, are light and refreshing, which I really appreciate. This location is noticeably larger and a bit pricier than the others, which makes sense given the more elevated atmosphere. There's even a section that can accommodate large private parties -- great for celebrations. I usually visit during off-peak hours, but the place tends to get busy on weekends, so reservations are definitely recommended. We often stick to our go-to dishes because they never disappoint. Our favorites: BTS Roll - our top pick and a must-try specialty roll. Dante's Inferno Roll - love the battered tempura jalapeños. SCS Roll - features crispy tempura asparagus. Lomi Lomi Roll - a refreshing salmon roll with a touch of lemon. Fried Oysters Salmon Ceviche Beef Carpaccio Chicken Katsu Plate - perfect for the kids (though now that they're older, they each want their own!). I've had a few instances of slower service, but it seems to be more of a shortage on staff depending on the time of day. Overall, I'm always satisfied when we dine here -- great food, fresh flavors, and a pleasant atmosphere.

RAW as opened for a while, and we don't have a real reason to go there, until today after our Costco grocery and we noticed the Mega Salamence with still over 30 minutes on the timer. Off we drove there and the gym was right in front of RAW. Since we have to do two rounds of raids we might as well get some take out! When entered there is a conceige like reception area. One side is the spa and the other side is the restaurant. It was flu season and I was wearing a mask, and the place still reek with those nail polish / alcohol smell. Not a fan of that smell honestly. Anyway the reception/server is dressed up and super sweet and nice. She showed me the menu and help me to place the order quickly. She said she would bring me the food and I told her I will be outside (omitting the part I am here mostly for the Pokemon raid like a nerd). Food was well packaged and ready quickly. We went home and unload the grocery before we even get the time to eat. We got the chicken teriyaki and chicken katsu. Both are super good and if we had to pick one we preferred the katsu! The katsu just taste good and right. There isn't that many places with good katsu in Elk Grove, and we both agreed this is the top on our list (yes! #1!). The teriyaki chicken taste good too. The vegetable is crispy and flavor is good. If I had to be picky it is the chicken meat a bit tough. It is grilled before stir fry. They did use the correct meat cut (dark meat) already. The salad is also super fresh and crisps. I love that sweet salad dressing as it pairs well with the relatively bitter veggies option. Service wise it is easy one of the best places in Elk Grove. We didn't dine in but our short interaction was awesome. Location wise also good. Plenty of parking as it is used to be a banquet hall. Plus extra bonus with the Pokemon gym there! Food as I have already said it is one of the best in Elk Grove. We didn't try sushi which was their specialty, but we just don't feel comfortable ordering sushi to go. Price is a little steep, but it probably justified by the service and food. We didn't dine inside and I bet the ambience will also give points on the pricing. We think we will just do to go though. Main reason was that smell from next door. I am 100% not into smelling that. Even if you could not smell it, the chemical might still be in the air. Let alone I could smell it so strong even with the mask on. Basically it's like cheap salon chemical smell. Nicer polished don't have a strong smell even though chemical in the air. Not a fan. We will return, strightly to go, definitely for katsu and more Pokemon raids (especially after they install those new cell phone towers).

Made reservations for a family of 8, 7 adults and one toddler. The place is nice and clean! It was our second time here. When entering there's a salon to the right that I'm excited to try out. But the sitting area of the place is great, we usually book for the dinner and they open the blinds to see the sunset. The waitresses have been absolutely wonderful as well as the host. The spicy edamame, salmon bomb, karrage, mixed tempura, oyster shot, and tuna ceviche are all great appetizers. For the entree last time we were there we got the Dante's Inferno, roadkill and BTS. Dante's inferno came with tempura jalapeños and it was delicious! I'd recommend it to everyone. This time around we got a lot of different items. Mixed sashimi, sashimi & nigiri, beef teriyaki, roadkill again, and tried out the Gamble roll. The gamble roll is so worth it. I won't spoil it but if you can, I say do it, don't question it ‍ came with the poker chip and it was such a cute token, has their number and business name with a QR code.

recently stopped by on a saturday evening during elk grove restaurant week to enjoy their all day happy hour deal. it was a last minute visit so thank goodness for being able to join the waitlist online. there were able to seat a party of 6 within 20 minutes. ordered a bunch of dishes and everything was so good. my favorites were the unagi handroll, roadkill roll, dante's inferno appetizer and carpaccio. the lychee mojito was unique. the chicken karaage and grilled shishito peppers were alright - may pass on that next time. the ambiance was cool and trendy. it increasingly felt more club-like as the night wore on with the music (there's even a dj booth) and pink, blue lights. overall, good food, service and ambiance. would come back.

We went to Raw Sushi bar to celebrate our friends wedding anniversary. We went for dinner on August 8 around 6:30 PM. We had a reservation for four people. We had to wait a few minutes as they got a table ready. We had a lovely waitress who was super attentive, and we were even more excited to have her as it was her birthday. We laughed with her each time she came to our table to check on us. The food was very good overall - I will apologize now, I cannot for the life of me remember the names of the rolls we got. The one call out was that two of the rolls, because the other two had a sauce either on them or in them, were a bit dry in comparison to the others. All of them had fresh ingredients, were made aesthetically pleasing, and each individual had their own favorite roll. I would definitely go back and try some of the other items they had.

The sushi rolls here are unique and delicious. We always start with the salmon bombs for an appetizer. We usually order the Texas hold 'em roll and then switch out a second roll everytime. We always reserve on yelp and never wait to long to be seated. This has been our dinner stop everytime we're in Elk Grove lately

Came here on Friday evening with hubby. We arrived at 5:45pm and waited a good 5 minutes at the hostess table without a hostess. There was a couple in front of us and a couple behind us. A bit later, two hostesses took our names and seated reservations first (no issues there) and we waited another 10 minutes to be called. When we got seated, we were surprised that it there was plenty of seating where everyone in the lobby could have had a table. Our server took our drinks and appetizer order quickly and they also arrived quickly. However, our rolls did not have the same efficiency. A runner tried to give us the next table's order of rolls (we hadn't even ordered yet). After we did order, our cocktails were depleted, and another table that was seated after us got all of their rolls before us. Apparently they felt so bad that they asked a runner where our food was (first time for me). Our server did bring our rolls and did apologize for the delay saying that she cannot control the order of how things come out of the kitchen. From being seated to getting our Appetizers at 6:15pm and then our entree rolls at 6:55pm and 7pm (time stamps from photos) it's one of the largest gaps I've experienced. Food was ok, serving size is good, can't say its worth the influx in price or the wait times.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by a full parking lot...which is always a good sign. Upon entering what we thought was the Velvet Martini Lounge, we were greeted by an employee named Matt. Matt was very friendly and understanding when he realized that we intended on being in the Velvet Martini Lounge, not the Sheldon Inn Restaurant. He went above and beyond by introducing us to an employee who worked at the Velvet Martini Lounge and escorted us upstairs to the lounge. Upon being seated at the lounge, we were greeted by server James, who provided us with menus. Our sole purpose was to connect solely over adult beverages, so we both placed orders for drinks. My wife ordered the Big Shot Martini with blue cheese stuffed olives, and I ordered the Havana Haze (a rum-based drink). As we slowly sipped our drinks, we enjoyed our date night in the dimly lit, romantic ambience of the lounge. The background music was played at a perfect volume to where you could hear the music as equally as you could hear the individual(s) talking at your table. James did a great job of not being a "helicopter server" by periodically checking in on us. We intended on ordering a second round, but the drinks were so deliciously stiff (a sneaky stiff) that we decided it would be a wise decision to end the night. I cannot wait to make a return visit to celebrate one of our monthly anniversaries, I recommend checking out Velvet Martini Lounge!

We took a flight of stairs up and found the lounge bar and were able to get some open seats for drinks. The servers were friendly and got us waters and bread right away. We ordered the Dirty Sidecar and the French Prince. The drinks were okay, but we decided to get the espresso martini since we figured if the place is called Velvet Martini, maybe they specialize in Martinis. The espresso martini was the best cocktail out of the 3 we ordered and we were glad we got it to redeem the other drinks. There was a good amount of people here, some out celebrating birthdays, some on dates, and some tables of friends just hanging out and having food and drinks. There was also an outdoor area from the restaurant below which seemed to have a nice dinner setting. I would say the velvet martini is worth coming by if you're in the area and looking for drinks, but it is in a much more secluded area.

My husband & I live in the Monterey area, but our elderly moms live in Galt & Pioneer. So, with busy lives we decided to try & give them a Mother's Day they'd really like. I was searching up restaurants that were doing Mother's Day events in their area. I didn't want to do a buffet or be in a place that was going to be so packed no one could hear each other. Tough challenge. But I found the Mother's Day brunch event at the Brick House, so decided to make reservations. I personally liked that you had to leave a deposit to hold the reservation. That tells me they're serious about making sure it was not overcrowded. The menu was limited due to it being a special event, but the items to choose from seemed interesting. Plus the bottomless mimosas & bloody Mary's was a big bonus. Our reservation was at 10:15AM. I'll start off with the review by mentioning my dad. He is a grumpy old guy who doesn't get out much. I've had to "warn" wait staff to ignore him; that he's a grump & won't be paying the bill, we will, so to not let any comments phase them, & we will try to keep him in line. Luckily he doesn't know what yelp is! When we were reviewing the menu the night before, he made the comments, "weird menu, it will be crowded, bottomless drinks? That means they will come by one time with tiny glasses." So we arrive a little early but are immediately seated in a very quiet area with only a couple of other tables occupied. The Grumpy old man: "see. They stuck us where we won't get any service." As soon as we sat down our waitress came over & immediately wished us all a happy mother's Day & could she get us a Bloody Mary or mimosa & that they were bottomless. And that she'd also be bringing our pastry board. We ordered our drinks & my dad made the comments, loud enough for the waitress to hear, "ok girls. Your one small mimosa will be coming out along with cold donuts. you'll never be offered another one, so enjoy." Within a few minutes us moms got our mimosas. In large wine glasses, filled to the top. Grumpy old man got a Bloody Mary. Nice selection of Pastries were hot out of the oven. He Made the comment, "great, a weak drink." (He hadn't taken a sip yet.") We told the waitress we would need a few minutes to look at the menu, she said fine. No rush. She came back & saw my mom & dad were nearly done with their drinks. Offered another while she took our order. My dad replied: "no. I'm driving." Translation: it's a strong drink. We went to order & my dad ordered the eggs Benedict with pork belly. also muttering it sounded weird, and it would be a shame to throw out such expensive food. He ate every bite & told the waitress it was "ok." (He rarely eats all his food.) Translation: it was probably one of the best he's had. I had the vegetable quiche & it was very good. The mimosas kept being offered & were flowing for the moms well after our food was finished which for it being a special, reservation only event was a pleasant surprise. We finely told the waitress at round 4 us girls were done. The restaurant remained quiet & when we left, it was busy, but not overly so. The manager, Chris, was greeting people & wishing the moms a happy Mother's Day. We were there for a couple of hours & never felt rushed to leave. When the bill came & my husband went to pay it, my dad told him to make sure the tip wasn't included before not leaving one. The waitress had to put up with us girls Constantly getting mimosas without asking for them. Translation: he felt like he had a nice time, the waitress made sure us moms had a nice time & wanted to make sure she got a tip. Us girls decided that we wanted to come back for regular happy hour/dinner next time we visited. My dad grumbled that he'd have to come too so we'd have a ride back. Translation: he wants to come back. Lol It was pricey, but worth every penny for the wonderful Mother's Day we were able to give our older moms. I'd definitely do it again next year if they have it. Thank you!

Souzan checked me in with kindness and professional style and I decided to become a Holiday sink Express member right then. Even though I am only here one night, I will definitely cone back here to Elk Grove Holiday Inn Express again. It is also next to Mimi's Cafe and Old Navy. What a great location. Thank you all, see you again. Julie A
