Your friendly local watering hole. Location/Vibe: This place fits the definition of a hole in the wall. The decor inside is an eclectic mix but defintely a place that feels friendly. The bartender seems to know everyone that comes in and it almost feels like a friend and family affair but even though it was my first time here the people were friendly and welcoming Drinks: They lean pretty heavy on the pours so if you like strong drink this place is great. I wouldn't call it cheap but the drinks are strong! Food: Not sure if they generally have food but they had a potluck going for the Super Bowl which was quite interesting. Babe's has Super friendly bar staff that is not intimidating to talk to. They made sure my dirty martini was done to my liking and it was perfectly chill. The pricing is reasonable and on a Saturday night the bathroom was clean. That's a plus! The back patio has pool tables and a fire pit to chill. I had a nice Experience here. Cute bar with lots to offer in old Elk Grove! Stopped in unplanned after having dinner next door. Chill relaxed vibes all around from what I observed. Outside area had a bar with swings, food (unfortunately, I didn't get close enough to see what was being served), pool table, picnic tables. Inside were lots of high tops and seats at the bar. They have karaoke and a piano. I didn't drink any alcoholic beverages during this visit, but my friends said their drinks are affordable and cheaper than most bars in Sac. From what I gathered it seems they have regulars that frequent this spot, which I think is a good thing! Bartenders looked to be friendly. EVERYONE was having a really good time this night! The staff here is always friendly, and my fiancé and I usually come for the free pool. But tonight was so uncomfortable I was literally shaking. Playing pool together is one of our favorite things to do, but the vibe was so bad we had to leave in the middle of our game. On top of that, the crowd here can be straight up weird or just flat out annoying. Sometimes it even makes me wonder if this place is supposed to be a swingers or gay bar with the way some of those people act. Fun place with a chill vibe. The pool tables are outside, but hey, it's California! There are pavilion-type covers built in the pool area to protect from rain and heaters for winter time. Not 100% ideal I guess, but not bad and the tables are well maintained... better so than some bars in the area that have their tables inside. I can't say that I'm a regular here, but yeah, I've had a few drinks and they were good and reasonably priced. The bartenders that I've met were all nice... great people! If I lived closer, I'd probably hang out here more for sure. read more

Although I can appreciate an upscale bar with classical music and designer cocktails, nothing beats a dive bar with stiff drinks and folks from all walks of life (you have to love these sayings that don't quite make sense). Looking to step out and enjoy a date night, my wife and I did a quick Yelp search for a local bar in Elk Grove. Babe's Lounge arrived at the top of my search results as the highest rated bar in Elk Grove, so Babe's Lounge would be our destination for that night. When we arrived, we parked in the rear area close to an automotive detail business. The bar entrance through the rear (you cannot access the bar from the door facing the street) showed us a food truck called Shanyia's (I will circle back to the food later), and a outdoor Cabana area that included a bar that serves basic drinks (e.g. Vodka tonics), and pool tables. As we made our way through this area, we were warmly greeted by the owner and some of the patron's. Based on the community vibe, we gathered that the environment has birthed many friendships and was welcoming to newbies such as ourselves. Since my wife wanted a Cosmo that required specific ingredients, we made our way to the indoor bar that offered more variety. Walking into the indoor bar, we were simultaneously greeted by the sweet sound of 90's RNB and a bartender by the name of Jewel. Jewel warmly welcomed us, took our orders (Cosmo & Kamikaze), and immediately started making the drinks. As we consumed our stiff drinks (no complaints), we enjoyed conversation in what felt like a safe environment, chatted with Jewel while she prepared drinks for other patrons, and enjoyed the superb 90's-early 2000's R&B & hip hop playlist (I would have been completely in my zone if they had karaoke). After closing out our tab, we desired to have some food to soak up the drinks that we consumed. Thankfully, Shanyia's is conveniently parked at the bar for folks that are seeking balance after enjoying the bar. One of the owner's warmly acknowledged us as we proceeded to place an order for two of their Loaded Garlic Chicken Fire Fries. Roughly 10 minutes later, we were devouring our orders. We were pleased with both of our orders; however, our only complaint (I use that word lightly) is that the fries were not cooked to a crisp. Therefore, the undercooked fries did not pair well with the delicious, well-cooked and seasoned chicken. There are 2 free pool tables that are covered from the weather with evaporative coolers for summer and gas radiant heaters in the winter. Babes is rather new to town and I welcome them! The owner is always looking for ways to improve his guests experience at Babes which is nice! The free pool tables is amazing. His beer prices are more than fair and he has an amazing collection of tequilas on site. The inside bar is nice and cozy, the bartenders are wonderful and always give good customer service. This formerly neighborhood pub did have a cool vibe at one time and now it has morphed simply into a menace to anybody who wants a peaceful existence in this neighborhood. Many Patrons are over-served alcohol and not monitored for aggressive behavior or turned away at the outset of anti social behavior. These patrons -- once no longer spending -- stream into the community and neighborhood, vomiting, urinating, fighting and worse. Management takes the view that when their door closes behind these patrons, the responsibility ends. It certainly doesn't. read more

Wow, what this place lacks in space inside it makes up for on the outside. Regulars can tell who's new to Babe's by the oh so deceptive rear entrance. Wind your way through an expansive outdoor seating area, bar, fire pit and pool area to enter the matchbox size inside bar. The night we visited, there were a couple of amazing birthday parties going on outside, so we headed inside. This place has everything a dive bar needs. Signed dollar bills on the ceiling, disco ball, blaring music, strong drinks served in plastic cups and perhaps the most eclectic assortment of patrons I've ever seen. There was a group of people in onesies, a couple bikers, some very soccer mom types and my group-- which came in athletic wear after the world's largest bounce house, were not given a sideways glance. I went to Babes a few weeks with my husband and a couple of friends, ordered four drinks got my bill for $17 (left a $3 tip) signed the receipt, drank my drink and left. Next morning | was going over my statement and I saw two pending changes for Babes $20.40 and another $71.99. At first I called my bank and was told to first go directly to the bar. The bank representative said credit card disputes against bars and restaurants are usually a loss because their is no proof that the service wasn't met. So l went into Babes and met with the bar manager julia. After a short discussion she agreed to meet me in the middle and gave me over half my dispute in cash. Yes, I'm out a few bucks, but in the big picture I was planning on a loss and expected an argument. In the end, Julia was professional, heard me out and made me a satisfied customer. 5 Stars for Julia and your great customer service and management style. Babes is lucky to have you. read more

I'm a little nomad so I love checking out spots that are recommended. I especially love solo adventures to meet new people. I thought the name of the bar was cute. However, as a first timer, I must admit the vibes are definitely off as soon as I walked in. Very loud and obnoxious. Not welcoming at all. When you have the bartenders acting as if they are in a scene of Mean Girls when they're pushing 50 years old - quite embarrassing to say the least. It was karaoke night and the bartenders were CLICKY, rude, snarky & catty asf. One of the worst dive bar experiences and definitely would never visit again. Ew. Sunday, June 10th we stopped to try out Babe's Lounge after the Petapalooza at Elk Grove Park. Woohoo - $10 bottomless mimosas with several different flavors. Because we had a doggy with us, we sat in the dog friendly patio area and was intrigued with the mural. Greg explained that the mural was not only a work in progress but also changed with the seasons. We plan on going back to check out the changes from time to time. Loved the vibe of Babe's! It's a fun family owned local bar. Very welcoming! It has sports television. There's a great outdoor bar and tequila bar.

Wow! I don't even know where to start... the owner, Greg is awesome. He welcomed us in on a Sunday morning for bottomless mimosas. They have peach, raspberry, strawberry, and orange purée for the mimosas, which makes all the difference. It's only $10 for all day and they don't charge you extra for food like most places. We sat and brought in our food from a deli close by, not only do they allow it but Greg offered to put it in the fridge after we were done. Seriously? So cool. He was quick to fill our cups and also asked if we wanted to try new flavors. The other guests who came in all seemed to know him, it gave off a real 'Cheers' type of feel. I will 100% be coming back to this place. Also to rebut one of those one star reviews, I asked for a glass of ice and he (with a smile on his face) gave us a cute full of ice!!! read more

I am a local Old town EG Patriots at least to go out. Babe's Bar is my Preferred local for my go to. Small exterior and Quaint as I should say. The bar tenders "Missy" and "Joey" are the best!!! And if your lucky some days you will get lucky to be served by "Greg" and his lovely wife. On the weekends they have their outside Cabana which is very comfortable by the way as you swing as you wait for your tasty beverage. Outdoor pool most locals like. Highly recommend if you are in the area. They will not kick you out for Tedious accusations and petty arguments as so everyone tells me from personal experience at Bob's bar. Cool place right off E.G. Blvd. Drinks are a decent price and they have nice outdoor area around back that I think is new for the property. There is no tv's inside so if you want to come watch the game then you'll have to sit outside, but on a nice day it's definitely worth it. The crowd here is not younger. And the owner is pretty cool. Went to babes 2 weeks ago, and the bartender Jordan gave outstanding customer service he turned on outside tv and checked on us quite often. Today we went, and the bartender on duty was no Jordan. Honestly the worst bar experience I've ever had. I walked in and the vibes were already super off and I got rude stares from the staff just coming in. I came here with a date and it just felt as if we weren't welcome in there. I felt highly uncomfortable and I just thought that it was disrespectful how the staff had staring problems and an attitude to match. It was also our first time coming to this bar and no one ever asked us if we had ID's to begin with, but other people were just coming in so we thought it was OK for the most part. One of their staff members came up to us and rudely asked us to get out and leave while we were sitting down. Me personally I felt like that was highly unprofessional and the attitude was incredibly uncalled for. The situation could've been handled differently and much more gracefully but it just came off straight up disrespectful and I would never want to come back after this experience here. The entire staff and atmosphere was just awful and as dusty as the whole place itself. Lowkey ruined a whole first date and this specific bar experience itself for me and my date. I can't stand how unprofessional this place was. If I could give them 0 stars, I would. Ain't no way I would come back after that at all. I'm really disappointed since I was really excited about that night but after that experience, I went home and called it a night.
