Arrived around 5pm on a Saturday and it was not busy yet. We still waited 10 minutes to be seated for party of 7. The meat was good but seems like they removed jajangmian from the menu so that was disappointing. The fries are good as usual. The steamed eggs were a bit overcooked, and the ramen with cheese was very basic (tasted like chicken powder with gochugaru topped with mozzarella cheese). Favorite cuts of meat was the saeng galbi and the beef belly. The scallion salad is a must get along with rice paper!

Been here multiple times now and have had a good time experience each time. Tbe combination of attention by the staff and portions make it a go to place when craving KBBQ and not wanting to make too much of an effort of driving. The KBBQ is good in my amateur viewpoint, but what separates it from other places is the care. You can choose between full orders and half orders, so you can conceivably try more of the menu because each round will be smaller. This isn't a detterent because the staff consistently come by and check in. Unlike other places where smaller portions are definitely a negative because they don't come as often, you won't have that issue here. The staff is great. Everyone involved with the operation that I've interacted with so far is awesome. They refill drinks, get orders, clean up the table and switch grills, everything that makes the experience better. I like the fact they have mussels. Sometimes I just have a craving for them, and this place allows the itch to be scratched. Ventilation is better than other places because they have it right over the grill. Additionally, plates aren't tiny. It can actually fit a good amount of food. Banchan was plentiful, refillable, and already at the table. The table size too is nice and generous; small tables at AYCE KBBQ places irk me because of the inevitable amount of plates that you get won't fit. Overall, this place hasn't let me down. For that, it deserves 5.

Ember is everything I look for in an AYCE KBBQ. The variety of proteins, appetizers, and sides makes for an excellent overall KBBQ experience. I especially love their selection of non-marinated beef and pork (IYKYK). Service here is consistently great. Our server, James, is always exceptional. During our visit, he was handling 4-5 tables on his own and still managed to check in regularly while keeping our banchan and meats coming with zero delays--seriously impressive. Recommend: brisket, saeng kalbi (non marinated short rib), rib eye steak, thick cut pork belly, pork jowl, ube melona (dessert) Skip: Soybean paste soup (way too salty), Rib fingers (get saeng kalbi instead) Parking: Plenty of spaces available in the strip mall where the restaurant is located.

I've visited Ember a couple of times more recently to catch up with friends after the holidays and it's been a great experience each time. Both visits, I was with a group of 3 and the wait was only about 15-20 minutes. They don't have the option of an online waitlist, but they do accept reservations for groups of 5 or more. Any smaller than that and you need to be added to the waitlist in person. The interior is bright and well ventilated. The staff are definitely busy, but they check in often for ordering more items and keep an eye on the grill to offer to swap out for a new one. I really appreciate the attention to customers. My favorite meats would have to be the LA Galbi and the soy garlic beef belly. My favorite sides/apps are the scallion salad (so refreshing with the meat) and the battered onion rings. Pro-tip: ask for the broccoli sauce and spicy mayo as creamy sauces to enjoy with your meal. Even with the huge amount of food, it's always fun to look forward to dessert which is included at the end of the meal. I always opt for a Melona bar and the mango is my favorite!

Went to eat with my family and made reservations same day on a weekend. My family and I were all pretty hungry, 5 adults, 1 child and a baby. Qualified for child prices which was nice since my son is 9. Walking in it was really spacious and clean, I loved the vent systems it reminded me of over seas kbbq. The only thing is you have to keep it low for the smoke and when we did raise it, our waiter asked us not to. Understandable but sometimes it got in the way of cooking. Let's get into the food, we ordered corn cheese, gyoza and fries for apps. Nothing bad to say, but nothing out of the ordinary. As usual, ordering three meats at a time. The marinated meats were like the apps. Honestly this place is okay for their meats nothing out of the ordinary again. Melona for dessert. The wait staff was kind. Honestly come try it out, my experience went smooth. Nothing bad to say at all. I'll be keeping this place in rotation ‍ I would like if they had Shirley temples and Roy rogers though. That's my go to.

Enjoyed our dinner here. I made a reservation for a Saturday night party of 6. Everyone was attentive and prompt. All the meat items we ordered were great portions and were very good. We really enjoyed our first time here.

Came here for the first time on a Friday night where they were busy, but we were seated quickly. Our server, Anna was great-she checked in on us frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. The Meat was marinated well, but we felt some of the meat cuts were a little tough, and that the quality of the meat is better at Oz. The tofu soup was very good though, while the banchan was just ok. Otherwise, it's another solid KBBQ option in EG.

It's always nice to have ayce kbbq options in the area other than oz ! Ember is located in the same shopping center as Burlington coat factory ( formerly mervyns) and hobby lobby ! You can't miss it . I really enjoy ember and the many options they offer . They have a full bar , plenty of appetizers, and so many meat options to choose from ! While I think their banchans are just ok ( I like the bean sprouts and cucumbers the most) I always enjoy my experience here . Every time I dine here , my servers are usually jay or Derek and they always do such a fantastic job . If you're craving a nice ayce kbbq with great service , I highly recommend ember !

It's one of the better AYCE kbbq places in the area. Service was pretty fast and got seated in 10-15 minutes for a big party. Food was good and the place is very spacious. I like how they offer free ice cream as dessert which was nice. I got the taro melona. I would recommend this place to other if the mood for kbbq.

Sides were potato salad, mustard greens and rolls. The ribs were tender, juicy and delicious. It's tough to find food homemade sausage but their homemade hot link was a hit. The chicken breast was tender and an ample size. The potato salad was okay, a little loose for my taste but the mustard greens were delicious. Didn't care much for the Hawaiian-type roll. Would have preferred a traditional piece of sliced bread or cornbread. I understand good BBQ is tough to find, but check out MacQue's I you haven't already. Unfortunately, the food didn't match that level. I'd rate it around a 3. The tri-tip was chewy and lacked tenderness. The corn seemed like it was poured straight out of a can, water and all, with no real flavor or preparation. The Louisiana sausage was underwhelming--honestly, I've had better from Safeway. Even the cornbread was dry and disappointing. Considering the price and portion sizes, it just didn't feel worth it. There's definitely potential here because the service is strong, but they really need to step up the food quality if they want to keep customers coming back and stay competitive long-term.

02.07.2026 - DQ Hawaiian BBQ | Elk Grove, CA **Broke da…read moremouth.** From the moment I walked in, the restaurant felt welcoming--clean, well-kept, and inviting. The cashier at the front was patient and kind as I placed my order, offering thoughtful recommendations. She suggested the Half & Half combo, which turned out to be the perfect choice, especially since I wanted to try their Kalua Pork with Cabbage. Whenever I visit a Hawaiian BBQ restaurant for the first time, Kalua pork is my benchmark. It's the dish that quietly tells you whether a place truly understands Hawaiian food and culture. ### First Glance The portions were generous at first sight, but as I ate, it became clear the balance was just right. The Kalua pork and cabbage looked moist and savory. The short ribs were beautifully cooked--charred just enough without being overdone. The macaroni salad immediately reminded me of what I used to eat back home in Hawaii, and the steamed rice appeared to be short-grain, (unsure) prepared with care. ### Taste Test **Steamed Rice** Perfectly cooked. Each grain was intact--never mushy, never dry. Moist, fluffy, and timed precisely. It tasted like it was made by someone who truly respects rice. **Macaroni Salad** Comforting and familiar. The flavors were exactly where they should be, with a subtle hint of umami that many other Hawaiian BBQ spots in the area shy away from. That small detail made a big difference and brought authenticity to the plate. **Short Ribs** Tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. The charring added depth without bitterness, and the marinade tasted just like the plate lunches I grew up with in Hawaii. The meat was soft and juicy--not dry or tough. **Kalua Pork** This was the true test--and it passed effortlessly. Moist, tender, and infused with smoky juices. Too often, some restaurants in the Sacramento region, Kalua pork is served dry, but this one stayed true to its roots. One bite confirmed it: this was authentic. ### Final Thoughts I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu. This visit sparked that familiar feeling--the one that makes you want to return, to taste more, to linger a little longer. The staff was warm and attentive. The waitress stopped by my table to check in, and that gave me the chance to ask the real question: *Are you guys from Hawaii?* She smiled and said her boss is. That explained everything. You can feel it when a local boy builds something with care, pride, and memory. Much respect. This is a place worth supporting. So there you have it--**ONO yah. Broke da mouth.**

Our group of 5 decided to dine in, and we were the only ones the entire visit to do so. DQ seemed to be pretty popular for take out orders! The interior is pretty simple - a row of about 5ish tables of 4 and 1 or 2 smaller tables make up the seating. Note: during the March heat wave when we visited, the interior was hotttt. I wonder if it was a building-wide issue, because we noticed a lack of cooling when we visited another business in the same strip. The service was very nice and quick. We ordered at the counter and then our dishes were brought out to us once ready. My husband got the loco moco and I got a combo with BBQ chicken and katsu. Of the two orders, we both preferred mine, only because the loco moco patty was okay, but not great. I loved the BBQ chicken and katsu - both were cooked really well with lots of flavor! The portions were also excellent. I'll definitely be back, either to grab takeout or hopefully when it's a more enjoyable experience to dine in. Really glad we finally got to try out DQ!
