First time impulse visit, was not disappointed! Tried the Bart sandwich with a side of Mac n cheese. Tri-tip was very tender and juicy. Hot link was a nice addition to the flavor profile. Paired with their 50/50 sauce which put it over the top! Mac was tasty but a little dry, probably due to the shallow dish and heating process. Staff was helpful in the ordering process ands attentive to us during our visit. Will definitely go back again! read more

9/19/2026 Food was okay and definitely satisfied the craving for smoked BBQ, but overall I'd say it was a "hit or miss" experience. I ordered the XL Family Pack for a group of 6-8 people. Unfortunately, they were out of brisket that day, so I went with the following: Bone-in Chicken: Moist, and probably my favorite of the meats. Good flavor and didn't feel dried out. Tri-Tip: This was the biggest disappointment. The meat was very dry, lacked moisture, and was noticeably chewy. It could have used more tenderness and juiciness. Pork Ribs: Also a mixed experience. The ribs seemed to have been smoked for a little too long, which made the outer crust quite dry and tough. The thicker pieces were actually pretty decent and had better moisture, but the thinner pieces were noticeably over-dried and harder to eat. Overall, the BBQ did satisfy the smoked BBQ craving, but the quality seemed inconsistent depending on the cut and thickness of the meat. The chicken was good, while the tri-tip and thinner rib pieces were too dry for my liking. There was quite a bit of food we couldn't finish because most of the meat was just too dry and chewy. Overall: Hit or miss. read more

Food was decent. Expensive for the quality. Very clean restaurant and super nice staff. Brisket was very dry and no flavor. I had to drown it in sauce to be able to get it down it was that dry. No natural juices. The macaroni and cheese was not smooth or creamy at all. They use sharp cheddar and it was awful. I am from Texas so I grew up on good bbq. I am in town and heard about Mac's so thought I'd give it a try. I wish I could give them 5 stars but it just did not meet my expectations for good bbq. read more

First time I came here, the brisket was so good! It was tender and a good amount of fat making it's so flavorful. But the last 3 times I been, let's just say it's so dry you need to get some type of drink. There is barely even fat anymore on the brisket.... which is like... is this brisket at all. Too lean, and not enough flavor. read more

Ehh. The hospitality was southern, with genuine kindness and care. The facility was clean with a nice mood. BUT THE FOOD was lacking the quality that the service and facility suggested. Not that it was nasty, but it is deprived of FLAVOR. This place, like its cousin, Raising Canes, is relying on the sauce to do the work and that didn't work. The meat needs salt, and the sauce does too. The sides were cool. read more

I'm glad to say I've had an excellent experience with Macques today, probably the first in about 7-8 tries. They improved drastically. The previous times I ordered, all the meat was DRY as a desert. Today, I ordered the ribs, tri-tip and the brisket and I'll tell you what, it was some of the softest, tender-est tri-tip I ever had. I never knew tri-tip could be so tender. The brisket was good, nice and fatty and perfectly tender. (Usually very dry). The ribs were a bit dry but I'll give them a pass on that because of how tender the tri-tip and brisket were. The tenderness was excellent, the smoke flavor wasn't all there though. I tasted some but it was just a small hint of it. If it had a lot more smoke flavor, it would've been an A+ for me but for the price, I was more than satisfied. I'm hoping to get more positive experiences like this going forward. read more

MacQue's Barbeque - Super dry, smoke ring but barely any smoke flavor, no bark. Cooked in an oven possibly????? - Barbeque Near Me - Elk Grove, California

Craving bbq so went to MacQue's as I wasn't feeling like cleaning my grill and bbq'ing Lol I've been to MacQue's several times before. It's located in a small shopping plaza so there's plenty of parking. It is tidy and clean inside with lots of dining tables. There are a few TVs tuned to different sports channels so you can check on game and team scores while you grub. I ordered my usual three way (the meal - get your mind out of the gutter, although nevermind Lmao) This visit I got the brisket, Louisiana hot link and boneless chicken breast. For the 2 sides, I got baked beans and potato salad. Also served with a roll. Food was delicious! Baked beans and potato salad were tasty. The brisket and hot link were very good although the boneless chicken breast was kinda dry until I poured more 50/50 bbq sauce on it. I typically and should've got pork ribs. I could've used more bbq sauce though but they charge extra for it. Service was good too. Boss lady was there and noticed I did not have utensils at my table. I was gonna take it to go but decided to eat there and that's when she noticed before I could ask and was very nice to grab utensils and napkins and brought it to me. That extra effort from her earned another star to 4 stars. Not quite 5 stars due to deduction for the dry boneless chicken and charge for extra bbq sauce. In my opinion, when a customer orders the three way or four way meal, extra bbq sauce should be given by default at no cost as there is lots of meat and protein! Will be back again. read more

Haven't had any good bbq in a while, and with Dickey's shuttered, we decided to give MacQue's a shot. We got the 1/2 chicken plate and a 3-way plate (mild links/ribs/brisket). Everything had decent flavor. Maybe it was because we picked up around 5pm, who knows, but everything was on the dry side - everything! The bbq sauce saved it. It is flavorful with the perfect amount of sweet and heat. The macaroni salad was tasty, as well as the mac-n-cheese. The coleslaw was on the bland side whereas the potato salad was loaded with flavor. The chicken portion was good, and yet, the 3-way portions were on the small side. All in all, it was a satisfying meal. We'll have to think about going back a second time. read more

Its alright bbq, needs more loving on the smoking and cooking. Chicken Breast is dry, Ribs are decent, needs to be trimmed better and brisket needs a higher heat time around 200-210 internal to reach buttery consistency. Brisket was chewy for my taste. Overall food for me was a 6.5/10 read more

MacQue's Barbeque - Ribs are good Brisket is a little chewy not melt in your mouth buttery, chicken breast is really dry, mac was decent, greens were eh - Barbeque Near Me - Elk Grove, California

A relative ordered takeout and brought it to us while visiting the area. I had a 3 protein meal with ribs, hot links, and chicken breast. Sides were potato salad, mustard greens and rolls. The ribs were tender, juicy and delicious. It's tough to find food homemade sausage but their homemade hot link was a hit. The chicken breast was tender and an ample size. The potato salad was okay, a little loose for my taste but the mustard greens were delicious. Didn't care much for the Hawaiian-type roll. Would have preferred a traditional piece of sliced bread or cornbread. I understand good BBQ is tough to find, but check out MacQue's I you haven't already. Since the food was brought to me, I can't speak about ambience or service but the reviews likely tell the story. read more

Food was just mid. Ordered the 4-way to split with my hubs - Tri-tip, pulled pork, brisket, chicken. Sides were Mac n cheese, green beans, and potato salad. Smelled amazing as we walked in. Seemed to be relatively busy. Best meat was the chicken. Brisket wasn't as tender as expected. Both it and the Tri-tip had a nice smoke ring. Don't feel like portions were overly large. read more

Update review 9/18/25 just for their Pork Ribs = 4.6: wife had a terrible day at work so I decided to get her some brisket but ended up ordering the "two-way" with brisket & pork ribs and 2 sides of their baked beans (which is solid since day one). The ribs were nice and tender and need NO sauce since the ribs were seasoned perfectly! I can't says anything about the brisket but did put a smile on my wife's face. BTW, have been back here since my last review but probably didnt move me enough to update my review until now. read more

Great Mac and cheese. One of the best in the area for sure. Western beans were spicy and delicious. The 50/50 sauce was the way to go. Good amount of spice that elevates the meat. For meats I had the briskets, hot link, and pork ribs. The pork was the winner. While the brisket was tasty it was a bit dry. The hot link was not too spicy but I would Duffey get that again. The pork was tender and perfectly cooked. Will be back. Highlight bbq place in our area. read more

I'd give this place a mixed review. First, the positives--staff to customer interaction was excellent. Friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Easily a 5-star experience on the service side. Unfortunately, the food didn't match that level. I'd rate it around a 3. The tri-tip was chewy and lacked tenderness. The corn seemed like it was poured straight out of a can, water and all, with no real flavor or preparation. The Louisiana sausage was underwhelming--honestly, I've had better from Safeway. Even the cornbread was dry and disappointing. Considering the price and portion sizes, it just didn't feel worth it. There's definitely potential here because the service is strong, but they really need to step up the food quality if they want to keep customers coming back and stay competitive long-term. read more

Pretty good bbq spot. Family owned and located in Elk Grove. I've tried pretty much their entire menu, from the brisket, tri-tip, pulled pork, links, and chicken. Generous portion sizes and the customer service here is good. If I am having a party, this may be a spot to order from for catering. read more

Although Mother's Day is supposed to be all about your mom, I was secretly jumping for joy when my mom suggested that we order BBQ (one of my favorites). I was even more excited when she mentioned that she wanted BBQ from MacQue's. As a little backstory, MacQue's has always held a special place in my heart. Back when the restaurant was located on Power Inn road, I would frequent the establishment to order a hot link sandwich generally in between classes when I was going to Consumnes River College (early 2000s). Since I'm a creature of habit, I was tempted to order a hot link sandwich for good time sake. However, I decided to take a walk on the wild side and try something new. Being that it was Mother's Day and we placed our orders late into the day, they were sold out of trip-tip and a few other items. Therefore, I was forced to order something that I wouldn't normally order, but turned out to be delicious...a hot link sandwich with brisket! The sandwich with the already applied 50/50 sauce was good; however, when I applied the small cup of hot BBQ sauce to the sandwich, it truly came alive (flavorful)! Similar to my experience back in the days at the old location, the customer service was great and I treated like a cousin supporting family business. I will definitely make a return visit in the near future (early in the day to ensure that inventory is intact) to try their tri-tip sandwich! read more

We ordered a 3 way and ribs, we enjoyed the Meats but the sides were a miss. Potato salad tasted like ¹Reeses. The mac &cheese was awesome!

Once I found the place, the brisket and links was heck of dried & no seasoning at all. The ribs were tender! The sauce was a little sweet for me. The potato salad was okay and the mac & cheese was good. Not someplace I will return back too. The clerk was talking with the staff & I was trying to asked questions- he just keep talking to other people. That was not cool. read more

Tried their bbq a couple times. Depending on the time you go, they may be sold out so if you want a specific type of meat, go early. I got their two meat combo and have tried pork tenderloin, ribs, chicken and brisket. All the meat has been tender and is smoky. Ribs were fall off the bone delicious! The Mac and cheese is so so and kinda dry. Be careful of their bbq sauces! The 50/50 is their medium has a decent amount of heat but there's a significant amount of spice in the 51/50 and the 52/50 was inedible for me. I like spicy but the difference in heat levels was fire! read more

Ok, wow. I've been watching this BBQ competition on Netflix for the last few days so naturally I have been looking at buying a pellet smoker. However I decided the more realistic route was to get some BBQ take out to satisfy my craving. I was in Elk Grove and looked up local BBQ joints and found MacQue's. I ordered the family meal to bring home, despite living 45 minutes away. First of all, I was blown away by the portions of meat. The website said the XL family meal serves 6-8, and since there's 4 of us, and we like leftovers, I felt like it was a good choice. For $80 it was an incredible deal. Let's just say we will be having bbq for daaaaays. I got brisket, ribs and pulled pork. Sides were Mac n cheese, greens, baked beans and potato salad. Everything was incredible. This is some of the best BBQ I've ever had!! The ribs were fall off the bone, so flavorful and simply perfection. I'll be back even if it means another 45 minute drive! read more

Excellent. Found the quality as good as it gets. We have eaten there many times in the last few years, always good.

Food has gone down and the prices has gone up. Don't order dinner because everything is dry.

Finally got to try this place after a sub par experience at Horn BBQ. I figured, let's switch up and see what they have to offer. Ordered the 3 way meat consisting of brisket, tri tip and pork spareribs. Brisket was on point. It was juicy and had just the right amount of meat and fat ratio. Pork spareribs were also good. Fall of the bone moment there. The tri tip on the other hand was slightly overcooked and dry. I would probably skip that next time. All in all, a good barbecue experience. Service was quick and friendly. Restaurant looks bright and clean. read more

Had a deal on Uber Eats so wanted to try them out. I got the three way which comes with 3 meats, bbq sauce, dinner roll, and 2 sides. I got brisket, ribs, and a link. Sides I got Mac n cheese and greens. I then added another small side of coleslaw. Went to pick up and they were pretty busy. They weren't done yet but everyone was super nice and kept everyone who was waiting for their order updated. I waited maybe another 10-15 min. It was 100% worth the wait. Omg everything was so tender and juicy. I felt like I was eating bbq in Houston again. The ribs were so tender the meat fell off and you could accidentally bite through the bones almost lol. The brisket was delicious, tender, with the perfect amount of fat. The greens were a little too salty for me and missing some smoked turkey or ham. Mac n cheese was more like baked version but very good. Slaw was standard. I'd probably try the beans instead next time. I wish they had cornbread! I will def be back soon! read more

We wanted BBQ for a recent party we hosted for 30 people. McQue's turned out to be an exceptionally good choice. We had eaten there before and like the food, so we decided to try them for a large order. All of the staff we worked with in deciding what to get were extremely helpful in terms of what we would get, our choices, and how the pickup process would work.
