A relative ordered takeout and brought it to us while visiting the area. I had a 3 protein meal with ribs, hot links, and chicken breast. Sides were potato salad, mustard greens and rolls. The ribs were tender, juicy and delicious. It's tough to find food homemade sausage but their homemade hot link was a hit. The chicken breast was tender and an ample size. The potato salad was okay, a little loose for my taste but the mustard greens were delicious. Didn't care much for the Hawaiian-type roll. Would have preferred a traditional piece of sliced bread or cornbread. I understand good BBQ is tough to find, but check out MacQue's I you haven't already. It's located in a small shopping plaza so there's plenty of parking. It is tidy and clean inside with lots of dining tables. There are a few TVs tuned to different sports channels so you can check on game and team scores while you grub. I ordered my usual three way (the meal - get your mind out of the gutter, although nevermind Lmao) This visit I got the brisket, Louisiana hot link and boneless chicken breast. For the 2 sides, I got baked beans and potato salad. Also served with a roll. Food was delicious! Baked beans and potato salad were tasty. The brisket and hot link were very good although the boneless chicken breast was kinda dry until I poured more 50/50 bbq sauce on it. I typically and should've got pork ribs. I could've used more bbq sauce though but they charge extra for it. Service was good too. Boss lady was there and noticed I did not have utensils at my table. I was gonna take it to go but decided to eat there and that's when she noticed before I could ask and was very nice to grab utensils and napkins and brought it to me. That extra effort from her earned another star to 4 stars. Not quite 5 stars due to deduction for the dry boneless chicken and charge for extra bbq sauce. Haven't had any good bbq in a while, and with Dickey's shuttered, we decided to give MacQue's a shot. We got the 1/2 chicken plate and a 3-way plate (mild links/ribs/brisket). Everything had decent flavor. Maybe it was because we picked up around 5pm, who knows, but everything was on the dry side - everything! The bbq sauce saved it. It is flavorful with the perfect amount of sweet and heat. The macaroni salad was tasty, as well as the mac-n-cheese. The coleslaw was on the bland side whereas the potato salad was loaded with flavor. The chicken portion was good, and yet, the 3-way portions were on the small side. All in all, it was a satisfying meal. We'll have to think about going back a second time. read more

For meats I had the briskets, hot link, and pork ribs. The pork was the winner. While the brisket was tasty it was a bit dry. The hot link was not too spicy but I would Duffey get that again. Unfortunately, the food didn't match that level. I'd rate it around a 3. The tri-tip was chewy and lacked tenderness. The corn seemed like it was poured straight out of a can, water and all, with no real flavor or preparation. The Louisiana sausage was underwhelming--honestly, I've had better from Safeway. Even the cornbread was dry and disappointing. Considering the price and portion sizes, it just didn't feel worth it. Although Mother's Day is supposed to be all about your mom, I was secretly jumping for joy when my mom suggested that we order BBQ (one of my favorites). I was even more excited when she mentioned that she wanted BBQ from MacQue's. As a little backstory, MacQue's has always held a special place in my heart. Back when the restaurant was located on Power Inn road, I would frequent the establishment to order a hot link sandwich generally in between classes when I was going to Consumnes River College (early 2000s). Since I'm a creature of habit, I was tempted to order a hot link sandwich for good time sake. However, I decided to take a walk on the wild side and try something new. Being that it was Mother's Day and we placed our orders late into the day, they were sold out of trip-tip and a few other items. Therefore, I was forced to order something that I wouldn't normally order, but turned out to be delicious...a hot link sandwich with brisket! The sandwich with the already applied 50/50 sauce was good; however, when I applied the small cup of hot BBQ sauce to the sandwich, it truly came alive (flavorful)! Similar to my experience back in the days at the old location, the customer service was great and I treated like a cousin supporting family business. Tried their bbq a couple times. Depending on the time you go, they may be sold out so if you want a specific type of meat, go early. I got their two meat combo and have tried pork tenderloin, ribs, chicken and brisket. All the meat has been tender and is smoky. Ribs were fall off the bone delicious! The Mac and cheese is so so and kinda dry. Be careful of their bbq sauces! The 50/50 is their medium has a decent amount of heat but there's a significant amount of spice in the 51/50 and the 52/50 was inedible for me. I ordered the family meal to bring home, despite living 45 minutes away. First of all, I was blown away by the portions of meat. The website said the XL family meal serves 6-8, and since there's 4 of us, and we like leftovers, I felt like it was a good choice. For $80 it was an incredible deal. I was really craving some smoky BBQ so I decided to give MacQue's another shot. Maybe the first couple times were just a dud, right? Nope. I was completely wrong and met with the same disappointment again. I got the ribs, tri tip, and brisket. The ribs were honestly the best part, about 3.5 to 4 out of 5. They had a decent smoke flavor and didn't need to fall off the bone to be good. The tri tip was okay, kind of dry though, so maybe a 3 out of 5. The brisket was a 0/5. Super dry, looked like it had been sitting around, and honestly looked like it was cooked in an oven or boiled. You could see a smoke ring but there was barely any smoke flavor. What's crazy is I make better brisket at home on my Traeger, and I'm not even a pro. When I order from a bbq joint, I want that smokey offset flavor with actual bark that I can't provide at home. That's the sad part. I really wanted to like MacQue's but after four or five tries, I am happy to say I am done. I always leave with buyer's remorse and it sucks because I know they have potential, they just don't deliver. If you want below average bbq, you come here. Had a deal on Uber Eats so wanted to try them out. I got the three way which comes with 3 meats, bbq sauce, dinner roll, and 2 sides. I got brisket, ribs, and a link. Sides I got Mac n cheese and greens. I then added another small side of coleslaw. Went to pick up and they were pretty busy. They weren't done yet but everyone was super nice and kept everyone who was waiting for their order updated. I waited maybe another 10-15 min. It was 100% worth the wait. Omg everything was so tender and juicy. I felt like I was eating bbq in Houston again. The ribs were so tender the meat fell off and you could accidentally bite through the bones almost lol. The brisket was delicious, tender, with the perfect amount of fat. The greens were a little too salty for me and missing some smoked turkey or ham. Finally got to try this place after a sub par experience at Horn BBQ. I figured, let's switch up and see what they have to offer. Ordered the 3 way meat consisting of brisket, tri tip and pork spareribs. Brisket was on point. It was juicy and had just the right amount of meat and fat ratio. Pork spareribs were also good. Fall of the bone moment there. The tri tip on the other hand was slightly overcooked and dry. I would probably skip that next time. All in all, a good barbecue experience. Corina and I ate here recently for the first time and were impressed. We had the child's plates of tri-tip and brought 1/2 the meat home for lunch the next day! She had the green bean side and I had the mac & cheese. The beans were pretty average and just a touch spicy. The mac & cheese was incredible! We would like to know how they make it so good?
