    4-way with an extra side.
    Jessica W.

Food was just mid. Ordered the 4-way to split with my hubs - Tri-tip, pulled pork, brisket, chicken. Sides were Mac n cheese, green beans, and potato salad. Smelled amazing as we walked in. Seemed to be relatively busy. Best meat was the chicken. Brisket wasn't as tender as expected. Both it and the Tri-tip had a nice smoke ring. Don't feel like portions were overly large.

Pretty good bbq spot. Family owned and located in Elk Grove. I've tried pretty much their entire menu, from the brisket, tri-tip, pulled pork, links, and chicken. Generous portion sizes and the customer service here is good. If I am having a party, this may be a spot to order from for catering.

Two way plate with brisket and tri tip with 50/50 sauce. Two sides: baked beans & mac n cheese with roll.

Update review 9/18/25 just for their Pork Ribs = 4.6: wife had a terrible day at work so I decided to get her some brisket but ended up ordering the "two-way" with brisket & pork ribs and 2 sides of their baked beans (which is solid since day one). The ribs were nice and tender and need NO sauce since the ribs were seasoned perfectly! I can't says anything about the brisket but did put a smile on my wife's face. BTW, have been back here since my last review but probably didnt move me enough to update my review until now.

Quick service and cute spot! The food was soo good. Haven't had bbq in a while and this place had everything. We ordered a little bit of everything to try the different meats. The portions were enough for 2!

Although Mother's Day is supposed to be all about your mom, I was secretly jumping for joy when my mom suggested that we order BBQ (one of my favorites). I was even more excited when she mentioned that she wanted BBQ from MacQue's. As a little backstory, MacQue's has always held a special place in my heart. Back when the restaurant was located on Power Inn road, I would frequent the establishment to order a hot link sandwich generally in between classes when I was going to Consumnes River College (early 2000s). Since I'm a creature of habit, I was tempted to order a hot link sandwich for good time sake. However, I decided to take a walk on the wild side and try something new. Being that it was Mother's Day and we placed our orders late into the day, they were sold out of trip-tip and a few other items. Therefore, I was forced to order something that I wouldn't normally order, but turned out to be delicious...a hot link sandwich with brisket! The sandwich with the already applied 50/50 sauce was good; however, when I applied the small cup of hot BBQ sauce to the sandwich, it truly came alive (flavorful)! Similar to my experience back in the days at the old location, the customer service was great and I treated like a cousin supporting family business. I will definitely make a return visit in the near future (early in the day to ensure that inventory is intact) to try their tri-tip sandwich!

Once I found the place, the brisket and links was heck of dried & no seasoning at all. The ribs were tender! The sauce was a little sweet for me. The potato salad was okay and the mac & cheese was good. Not someplace I will return back too. The clerk was talking with the staff & I was trying to asked questions- he just keep talking to other people. That was not cool.

This place is locally owned and serves one of the best southern BBQ! Tried all their type of meat options, can't go wrong. A little on a pricey side, but food will amaze you!

This is the 2nd time we have been here and once again all of the meats and sides were delicious. We even got peach cobbler this time, YUMMY! We went around 1:45 on a Saturday and missed the weekend lunch crowd.

Three-Way with sausage link, ribs, and brisket. Bun, sauce, Greens and coleslaw sides. SO good

Had a deal on Uber Eats so wanted to try them out. I got the three way which comes with 3 meats, bbq sauce, dinner roll, and 2 sides. I got brisket, ribs, and a link. Sides I got Mac n cheese and greens. I then added another small side of coleslaw. Went to pick up and they were pretty busy. They weren't done yet but everyone was super nice and kept everyone who was waiting for their order updated. I waited maybe another 10-15 min. It was 100% worth the wait. Omg everything was so tender and juicy. I felt like I was eating bbq in Houston again. The ribs were so tender the meat fell off and you could accidentally bite through the bones almost lol. The brisket was delicious, tender, with the perfect amount of fat. The greens were a little too salty for me and missing some smoked turkey or ham. Mac n cheese was more like baked version but very good. Slaw was standard. I'd probably try the beans instead next time. I wish they had cornbread! I will def be back soon!

On our way home,we stopped by at this restaurant craving for good bbq, this place didn't disappoint.Dining area is well kept, very clean,Staff are friendly and very patient with us explaining their menu.we love all the meat we've ordered and the sides too, they're very generous in their servings that we had so much to take home.

Chicken, Ribs and Tri Tip. So good!!

We have been coming here for years and love this place! The meat plates are a must, I always do a 3 meat. It's amazing how quick you can get your food at the quality that it is. Usually it's not too loud or busy so you can get a table fairly quick or get the food to go. Definitely try their Mac and cheese!

Pork Ribs, Pulled Pork, Brisket, XL Family Pack (6-8 people)

Ok, wow. I've been watching this BBQ competition on Netflix for the last few days so naturally I have been looking at buying a pellet smoker. However I decided the more realistic route was to get some BBQ take out to satisfy my craving. I was in Elk Grove and looked up local BBQ joints and found MacQue's. I ordered the family meal to bring home, despite living 45 minutes away. First of all, I was blown away by the portions of meat. The website said the XL family meal serves 6-8, and since there's 4 of us, and we like leftovers, I felt like it was a good choice. For $80 it was an incredible deal. Let's just say we will be having bbq for daaaaays. I got brisket, ribs and pulled pork. Sides were Mac n cheese, greens, baked beans and potato salad. Everything was incredible. This is some of the best BBQ I've ever had!! The ribs were fall off the bone, so flavorful and simply perfection. I'll be back even if it means another 45 minute drive!

Super dry, smoke ring but barely any smoke flavor, no bark. Cooked in an oven possibly?????

The cashier at the front was patient and kind as I placed my order, offering thoughtful recommendations. She suggested the Half & Half combo, which turned out to be the perfect choice, especially since I wanted to try their Kalua Pork with Cabbage. Whenever I visit a Hawaiian BBQ restaurant for the first time, Kalua pork is my benchmark. It's the dish that quietly tells you whether a place truly understands Hawaiian food and culture. ### First Glance The portions were generous at first sight, but as I ate, it became clear the balance was just right. The Kalua pork and cabbage looked moist and savory. The short ribs were beautifully cooked--charred just enough without being overdone. The macaroni salad immediately reminded me of what I used to eat back home in Hawaii, and the steamed rice appeared to be short-grain, (unsure) prepared with care. ### Taste Test **Steamed Rice** Perfectly cooked. Each grain was intact--never mushy, never dry. Moist, fluffy, and timed precisely. It tasted like it was made by someone who truly respects rice. **Macaroni Salad** Comforting and familiar. The flavors were exactly where they should be, with a subtle hint of umami that many other Hawaiian BBQ spots in the area shy away from. That small detail made a big difference and brought authenticity to the plate. **Short Ribs** Tender, flavorful, and cooked just right. The charring added depth without bitterness, and the marinade tasted just like the plate lunches I grew up with in Hawaii. The meat was soft and juicy--not dry or tough. **Kalua Pork** This was the true test--and it passed effortlessly. Moist, tender, and infused with smoky juices. Too often, some restaurants in the Sacramento region, Kalua pork is served dry, but this one stayed true to its roots. One bite confirmed it: this was authentic. ### Final Thoughts I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu. This visit sparked that familiar feeling--the one that makes you want to return, to taste more, to linger a little longer. The staff was warm and attentive. The waitress stopped by my table to check in, and that gave me the chance to ask the real question: *Are you guys from Hawaii?* She smiled and said her boss is. That explained everything. You can feel it when a local boy builds something with care, pride, and memory. Much respect. This is a place worth supporting. So there you have it--**ONO yah. Broke da mouth.**

Our group of 5 decided to dine in, and we were the only ones the entire visit to do so. DQ seemed to be pretty popular for take out orders! The interior is pretty simple - a row of about 5ish tables of 4 and 1 or 2 smaller tables make up the seating. Note: during the March heat wave when we visited, the interior was hotttt. I wonder if it was a building-wide issue, because we noticed a lack of cooling when we visited another business in the same strip. The service was very nice and quick. We ordered at the counter and then our dishes were brought out to us once ready. My husband got the loco moco and I got a combo with BBQ chicken and katsu. Of the two orders, we both preferred mine, only because the loco moco patty was okay, but not great. I loved the BBQ chicken and katsu - both were cooked really well with lots of flavor! The portions were also excellent. I'll definitely be back, either to grab takeout or hopefully when it's a more enjoyable experience to dine in. Really glad we finally got to try out DQ!
