Especially for the price points. The portions did not really seem to line up with prices much either. I cannot really comment on the taste of the food because there was a mix-up with my order. By the time I realized it, there was a long line inside and the rest of my party was really far along on their meals and we had already waited around 45 minutes for the plates to come out. My husband and I planned to share the smokehouse platter, but after we were seated, they let us know they had just run out of ribs (it was super busy, so understandable). They came back with several alternative options, and we ended up choosing two types of wings lemon pepper and BBQ (6 total). Everything was delicious. The pulled pork had so much flavor, my husband loved the sausage, and the tri-tip was smoked perfectly. The wings were packed with flavor, the cornbread was so good, and they even gave us a banana pudding cup to make up for the missing ribs which was a generous and thoughtful touch. Staff were efficient and friendly. The place had a great vibe with a live band and a beautiful evening atmosphere. Despite the rib situation, the service and food made up for it. Came by for brunch on a Sunday around 11am and was pleasantly surprised it wasn't too busy yet. They do have outdoor seating, which looked nice, but it was a bit too cold for us to enjoy that option. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted right away by a young staff member who was super friendly and welcoming. He asked if it was our first time (it was), gave us a quick rundown of how things work, and pointed us toward grabbing a menu and finding a table. The ordering setup is more of a walk up style, which personally isn't my favorite for a sit down brunch. I usually prefer to just settle in and be served but it didn't take away from the overall experience. The food is really what made this place stand out. I ordered the Birdie Sandwich and it was packed with flavor! the egg was cooked perfectly and everything just came together so well. It came with potatoes that were crispy and well seasoned, plus a small salad with a dressing that was honestly so good. We also tried the fried pickles, which were solid, especially with their ranch (it reminded me of that dill style dip from La Bou). The French toast was definitely on the sweeter side but really delicious and my daughters loved it. My husband ordered the tri tip omelette and enjoyed it as well. I also liked that they offer a "2 sides" option, which is a great deal. I went with waffle fries (super crispy) and a Caesar salad that was light and fresh. The Vietnamese coffee was spot on too. strong and perfectly balanced. The only thing that fell short for me was the beef rib we got to go. Second time here love the outdoor seating area options. There are 3 spots to choose from when you order your food at the counter. First time I came I got the pulled pork waffle fries. I could have done without the cheese on the waffle fries but the pulled pork was spot on. The other we came for breakfast and I got the breakfast omelette and it was amazing. Great place to come for a gathering and getting some sun. Staff were wonderful and gave us the details on how it works right when we walked in and checked in on us often too. Bartender named Rebecca per the receipt directed another staff member to take my order, that person disappeared. It appeared the Rebecca was done with customer and I asked a question. She scolded me and said I will finish with them then u, while sarcastically gesturing both hands at me. I ordered two drinks to be efficient so I dont have to order again. I walked into bar, drink was made and sitting on back counter she handed it to me. I went outside to drink it and decided to go in to get my second drink. A person even walked in to bar and ordered two drinks and she made them immediately, she was so sweet to that person it was obvious she knew her. I grew impatient watching her make other drinks and I asked for a refund. She said my drink is next but willing to give me refund. I have been sitting another 10 minutes at bar. I then asked her how come there is no bacon in my Bloody Mary. She said happy hour does not get bacon. I have been here before for happy hour and there is always a big piece of bacon. Passive aggressive behavior. Obviously she was overwhelmed, but don't take it out on me. I had a craving for a tasty, juicy, burger. There aren't very many really good burger places in Elk Grove. I heard from friend that Brody's had a good one, so I went to try. You order at the counter, pay, and then you find a seat in the dining area with your number. I ordered a Freeport burger. It comes with the choice of a salad or waffle fries. I opted for the waffle fries. The burger tasted ok, but the I thought the burger was over cooked. The edges around the patty were kind of on the crispy side, hard. The meat patty was not whole, it was split in half, but not evenly, and the grilled onions were in between the very thin patties. It seemed like it was an afterthought, or they forgot to do something. Anyways, the final product wasn't great. I was disappointed. Everything in the burger was nice, except the meat. read more

Be forewarned that their main lot is fairly small but they do have some parking to the left side as well. While it's unassuming it's all business at the front with staff ready to take your order as you walk in. There is also a seating area that is covered on the right for this time of year. What this place lacks in parking makes up in all the seating areas. The vibe is really road side wood building feeling which I really dig for this location . Service/Food: Service on the restaurant side was great as they take your order up front, give you a number and you find a place to seat. The staff was friendly and attentive and we didn't have any issues. The real deal with this place is the smoked meats. While the brisket isn't the best I have, it still hits the spot. Of course there can be some variability depending on the day in terms of dryness but everything I've had these last couple trips as been satisfying and filling. Don't skip on the corn bread and sauce as well! Despite the parking this place is a great stop after or before a Delta visit. Lesson learned: if the vibe is "bayou" it's gonna be spicy, peppery, and onions galore. I was sucked in by the huge BBQ sign, and my food was delivered before I clued in to the Cajun bit. I love their tri tip, corn bread, and Mac and cheese. The family platter is great because you get a sample of all their meats. Cons: due to the limited indoor seating, big groups usually need to sit outside. During the colder months, it's too cold even with the heaters. I'm not a fan of their potato salad. Barbeque is one of my favorite cuisines. However, finding good quality BBQ that won't break the bank is a challenge. That's why I'm glad to find Brody's. For proteins, I've tried their tri-tip, pork ribs and sausage. For sides, their Granny apple cole slaw, corn bread, ceasar salad, mac n cheese, cowboy beans and waffle fries were all top notch. I haven't had anything which I didn't like. We especially like to come during happy hour which is 3-6 pm Monday to Friday. It's $5 off their sandwiches, quesadillas and loaded fries. I usually get their tri tip sandwich for $13. Can't beat that! The restaurant has both inside and outside seating in a casual setting. You order at the counter and let them know where you will be seated. They will bring your food out to you. They have large communal tables in their outdoor patios. On some nights, they have live entertainment. Service has been outstanding. During our most recent visits, we were a group of 3 and the food arrived for 2, but the 3rd meal seemed to be taking a while. We flagged down a server to ask about it. It turns out that the wrong table tent number was written down on the order. The server brought the food out and added a huge cookie for the inconvenience. The last time we had dinner, the ribs my friend ordered were a bit dry. We told our server, Elvis, and he switched them out right away. For me, the difference between great vs good service is how a restaurant responds when service doesn't go well. They listened to our concerns and remedied the situation right away. Stopped by again to try the BBQ since my last visit was just for a quick breakfast -- and wow! The Smokehouse Platter and Smoked Chicken Salad were delicious. The brisket was tender, the ribs perfectly smoked, and the cornbread and mac & cheese were amazing comfort sides. It was plenty for our family of four with leftovers to take home. Loved the outdoor seating -- such a relaxed, family-friendly vibe. The service was great too -- courteous and attentive even while the place was busy, which we really appreciated. We went here for the first time and it won't be our last time. The BBQ sampler was well worth the money. Hands down best BBQ we have had in the Sacramento Area. The staff was friendly and the to go order was prepared within 10 minutes. All the food was prepared very well and I must say the corn bread was moist and could be eaten as a dessert. If you blink while traveling south on Freeport Boulevard from Oto's Marketplace in Sacramento, you may miss the tiny town of Freeport, population 58 according to the 2020 Census. And a stone's throw away from the Freeport Bridge and the Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Course alongside the Sacramento River is some of the tastiest BBQ in the region, at Brody's Restaurant. My cousin will have his birthday in Japan later this month, so I took him out for early birthday at Brody's, which caught our attention on social media. Brody's did not disappoint. We ordered the $69.99 Smokehouse Platter: 1/2 Rack of Pork Ribs, 1/2 lb of Pulled Pork, 1/2 Lb of Tri Tip, two smoked sausages with two sides of your choice. Serves 2 to 4 people. Unfortunately, by the time we got there at 6:30 pm, they were sold out of their coveted pork ribs and slow-cooked brisket. So we substituted the ribs for some tasty chicken wings, half BBQ, half lemon pepper. To soothe my disappointment over missing the ribs and brisket, I ordered their Candied Bacon, and while it may not be the same as the world famous Millionaire's Bacon at the Bay Area's Sweet Maple, it was surely tasty enough for this bacon lover at $5.99 for four pieces -- half the price of Millionaire's Bacon. And Jenny the hostess did her absolute best to find us two sample pork ribs after all. They tasted great with or without their sweet BBQ sauce. (Pro tip: get there or order by 2 pm or they may run out of ribs and brisket). Their wings were also very delicious, the pulled pork mouth-watering and the tri tip quite succulent as well. Most definitely will be back for the slow cooked brisket and full slab of pork ribs (which at $38.99 is a relative bargain compared to a full slab in SF, which could run up to $60!). Don't sleep on Brody's yo. I'll have to make it one of my remote offices and meeting spots. BTW the Smokehouse Platter is much too much for two people, so two people will leave with to-go boxes.
