    Genki Loco Moco

The food was amazing! Me and my boyfriend came in sometime in the afternoon. I got the Genki Loco Moco and he ordered the Genki Benedict. The ambiance was wonderful and it felt very homey and warm. Dan was attentive and friendly towards us, and made sure we were taken care of which we deeply appreciate. During our dining experience, he made sure to check on us and we made it very clear how much we were enjoying the food. The Loco Moco tasted amazing, there is a sizable portion of white rice beneath the eggs with creamy white and brown gravy-- the presentation was beautiful. On top of it was a thick, cooked season patty of beef. I was so full and satisfied by the meal. Everything in the Genki Benedict was very good too, the potatoes were crispy and warm and I think cooked in butter. The bread was toasted with a slice of ham, and sunny side eggs on top-- which were cooked until the yolks were jammy and runny and enhanced the experience. My boyfriend couldn't help but finish the side of salted and whipped butter with his potatoes and toast! We are going back again to try more dishes!

First time trying out this restaurant. While speaking to our waitress, she mentioned this restaurant switched owners and identity about 4 months ago. The service was amazing. The waitress came by asking if we needed anything a few times and the chief came out to ask how the food and everything else. Very cozy, homey vibe with 90s to early 2000s music. I shared the genki okonomiyaki and ika geso. We got tornado egg with our okonomiyaki and it was perfect. The right amount of sweet and savory. The bacon was crispy and the veggies soft, but not mushy. The ika geso was delicious. Thin layer of batter and crispy. Overall, it was a good experience.

Genki Kitchen is located where Evan's and Kau Kau used to be. Lots of parking there but it usually gets full around lunch time. Lunch time the place gets busy too but after around 1:30 there's less of a wait time to sit down. My wife and I just happened to look for brunch places since we wanted to try new places and saw Genki took over the spot. It looked like it'll have a unique brunch menu so we had to check out. On our first visit we ordered 3 different items that sounded good on the menu because it's either we like the food and come back or we don't if what we got was not good. We ordered the Genki Benedict, Genki Loco Moco and the Country Fried Katsu on our first visit. The Benedict was absolutely delicious with the yuzu sauce and spam. The Shoku pan under all of that just elevated it and it was one of our favorites. The Loco Moco had two gravies that were white and brown with a perfectly cooked patty that wasn't mushy and had good texture. I got the sunny side egg on top of that. The country fried katsu had great texture with the gravy that was great as well. On our second visit we got the loco Moco again but with a tornado egg to switch it up and it'll be hard to choose between that and the sunny side next time I come. Next the GyuDon my son got and he said was great but I didn't get to try it since he finished it before I could get a bite . Also got the Curry Katsu Chicken Don and server let me know I had the option to do gravy instead so my big back went with the gravy and I'd do it again. Overall 9.5 out of 10 and we will come back here often. I believe Dan the owner talked to us on the second visit and he seemed like a great guy.

What a lucky find! I was looking for a breakfast spot after an appointment and found this little gem. The restaurant is bright and cheery, with references to Japan with the daruma and vintage beer posters. The service was quick and friendly. The waitress asked my name and used it whenever she checked on me. The menu featured several brunch items as well traditional Japanese plates. I was encouraged to try the chicken and waffle plate and I was not disappointed. The chicken katsu was crunchy outside and tender inside. The waffle was crunchy and also sweet, thanks to the coconut. The portion was generous. I plan to return with my family to try some of the other items. This is the kind of place you want to stay open because it makes you feel genki when you visit.

A very cute spot! Hidden if you don't know what you're looking for. We were greeted by the whole family for Sunday brunch. My bf said it felt like he was invited into someone's home and they fed him homemade cooking. I had to try the loco moco and they do not play with the portion. There was so much brown and white gravy, I don't know which one I liked more. Seasoning was perfect and tasted so fresh. I would get this again but would like to try other menu items as well. My bf ordered the teriyaki steak skillet. This was great as well. Steak was cooked perfectly and I'm usually not a teriyaki type of person but it pairs well with the steak. And the tea helped everything settle in my stomach as well. So good! We will be back soon! So glad we gave this place a chance. :)

After seeing Genki featured on several Instagram accounts, my curiousity was piqued. My sister and I came for brunch around 10 am on a Saturday. The place was small but we easily got a table. At first, we could not decide what to get because everything sounded so good. We finally settled on the Loco Moco because we never turn down a chance to try this dish when we see it on the menu. The second dish was a Curry Katsu Chicken-Don. While both dishes were great, but the Loco Moco was our favorite. Instead of a fried egg, they opted for a tornado egg over rice. The hamburger patty was definitely homemade and topped with two different gravies: brown and white. It was served with pickled ginger. The dish was pretty rich but having the pickled items cut some of the richness down without diluting the savory flavors of the dish. Service was exceptional. As soon as we walked in, a young gentleman greeted and seated us right away. He offered us complimentary tea after he sat us. The weather was chilly that day and the tea hit the spot. The owner and several other staff members came by our table. Not just to ask if we need anything but seem to genuinely care about our feedback. It was really nice to be able to interact with the owner. He invited us back and we did a couple weeks later. We got the Loco Moco again on our second visit as well as the Okonomiyaki, a savory pancake topped with an egg, bacon and pickled ginger. Once again, the Loco Moco stole the show. The okonomiyaki seemed more like a fritata, but still very tasty. I cannot wait to come back and bring my friends. It's located where Kau Kau used to be. Depending on the day and time, parking could be limited.

I was so excited to finally try Genki kitchen! We came as a large party of eight and ordered so many items from the menu. The place was bright and open and welcoming and we had excellent service as soon as you walked in. Every dish was delicious savory and everything you had hoped for in a great brunch! It's the venue was fun open an area and definitely a lot of regulars were coming in greeting the owners as they walked in. This place is a must try!

Great new brunch spot in the e sac neighborhood! We got there just before the Sunday/Mother's Day rush and were able to score a table for 3. I liked the complimentary green tea offered as we sat, nice little touch! The place feels warm and inviting & bright, with attentive service the entire time. We will definitely come back to try their dinner!

Overall we enjoyed our time and plan to go back as they have lots of interesting options for food. Wanted to try them all! Service: solid. Greeted by a very polite and professional young person. The older staff are equally polite. Never felt ignored or had any delay in service. Ambiance: it's fine. Nothing special but feels nice and clean. Parking is not an issue. Food: ordered 3 times: Ika geso (app), beef udon, and locomoco. Portions are great for the price you pay. Because the portions are on the bigger side, I don't feel like I paid a lot. I thought price was very fair. The Ika geso is good. Crispy and fine dipping sauce. Basically their fried calamari but just the legs. Udon: this was the clear winner. Broth was sweet and had fantastic flavor. Beef and noodles were cooked perfectly. Loco moco: this was the item I saw on IG that made me want to try the place. Visually it looks great. Overall flavor: it's fine. The beef is fine and the 2 sauces are good. The brown gravy and cheese(?) white sauce are both good. The egg is also just fine. A few suggestions I would offer: use day old or warm rice. Fresh rice made it wet and it got mushy with the sauce. Also, after awhile the entire dish gets mushy and the flavors kind of blend together. If they offered something pickled or something that was a little spicy- that would elevate the dish imo.

We arrived early on a Saturday. Owners Dan and Nancy greeted us warmly for their soft opening weekend. We ordered the chicken coconut cream waffles and the okonomiyaki. - the coconut cream waffles were really great. The coconut cream that we got on the side was especially delicious with the chicken and waffles. I would say the chicken could be slightly juicier, but other than that this dish was hit with both of us. - the okonomiyaki had a nice flavor with the traditional sauce and egg pancake. The bacon and fried egg on top was a nice spin on the traditional dish. I felt the cake would be better with a less "formed" shape and some noodles (the W ay I've had it in the past. Overall we really liked what we tried. A big "thank you" for the complementary tea and white peach mimosa! UPDATE: Back again, this time with the kids - Moco Loco: daughter enjoyed it, but couldn't finish it - Chicken Katsu Curry: crispy and delicious (ordered with curry on the side) - Crispy Chicken with gravy and potatoes: yum! - Beef Udon soup: Actually our favorite with a new delicious, rich flavor

Taste: 8/10 Service: 10/10 very friendly and attentive staff makes you feel like "at home" Environment: 8/10 clean comfy environment Appetizer: Ika geso Entree: Genki loco moco, lumber jack omelette I'm not usually a brunch person but the food here really surprised me. The portion is VERY generous, so maybe don't order as much as we did. Loco moco was heavier than i imagined, but the flavor is still good. The lumberjack is just what you could expect for an omelet. Fried squid leg was crunchy. Personally I think the loco moco was too heavy for my liking, but the appetizer and omelet was great. Additionally the service here is excellent. Very friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend this place, and I m looking forward to coming back and try their other brunch options.

I saw the new brunch menu on IG and we had to come check it out! Genki Kitchen took over the old Kau Kau location. Plenty of easy parking and we were the only guests as soon as they opened on a Sunday morning! Seems like a family establishment with all the kids putting in effort and showing great work ethic. Love seeing them all work together like that! The menu is easy to read and doesn't have an overwhelming amount of options. They have a brunch menu as well as appetizers, noodles, and donburi options. -Genki Okonomiyaki: loved the addition of an egg on top to make it a brunch dish! I think I would've liked more filling inside the pancake itself like a traditional okonomiyaki with more seafood and veggies but otherwise it was a tasty dish. - Kikori omelette: We liked the different meats inside. It looks like a big portion but it's actually mostly potatoes. I think a bigger omelette or just lowering the $21 price may be more enticing. - French toast with fruit: love the thick cut shokupan and the house whipped cream! Overall was a great experience here with very friendly service. They sometimes checked a little bit too often but like I mentioned, we were the only ones in the restaurant and I'm sure they just wanted to make sure our needs were met. I hope they have lots of success and last a long time in this location!

Went there on Mother's Day as it was our first time. The service there was so very friendly and attentive even when the place was super busy but the highlight was the food which was hands down delicious! We tried the Genki okonomiyaki, Lumberjack omelette, and katsu chicken and waffles. We also had the Fuji salad, ika gesso and veggie tempura to share which was generous and tasty for three people. There are many dishes to choose from so wouldn't mind returning to try other items.

Again we get it was the bartenders area but you would think since it's the weekend you would have two bartenders working that area. When it comes to the food, my wife's brisket Benedict was pretty solid nothing crazy but my meal was probably the worst one.... When I hear the words " anything scramble" i think of a bunch of ingredients mixed together as a scramble. This was more of just scrambled eggs with some fried avocados on top. These breakfast "potatoes" were also dissatisfying and flavorless. I've worked in the restaurant business and can tell you that I hated when people sent plates back so I'm not one to send my plates back and make complaints, but this one was very close to me breaking that personal rule. Personally I don't think I'll ever come back at least not for their breakfast hours.

I recommend making reservation in advance. Weekend brunch can get busy. They have a small covered patio. I saw someone had a private bridal shower in the patio and thought that was such a cute idea. I love EVERYTHING here. My go-to is the deviled eggs. Can't go wrong with breakfast with eggs but you must try their pancakes and waffles. I think they rotate their menu periodically. For lunch/dinner, we like to order their pizzas and a salad. Simple but so good! They are a small local business. Go support them whenever you can.

I wanted to like the restaurant a lot, and while food was good, our service unfortunately was not. We sat on the patio when there were 2 other tables half way through their meals. We ordered a cinnamon role to start, and it was fine but not my favorite. The main dishes were brought out together, and while the breakfast pizza (not pictured) was steaming hot, my potatoes came out slightly cold. I ordered a coffee and it wasnt until our meal was done that they asked if I wanted a refill as our waitress seemed to be missing from the patio service area most of our time there. When we paid, it showed that it was $5 for coffee, which seemed pricey compared to other restaurant similar in nature and a very late refill. The last bit is that it took 15 minutes for us to get our check and a box for the left over pizza. I understand that it gets busy, but we had arrived when the restaurant was 75% empty and service was very delayed.

Despite the chaos, all of the staff handled it so well, everyone was so friendly and helpful. Our server Madison was fun, funny, and handled a stressful situation with so much grace, while also serving two tables of twenty-plus guests each. Not to mention, all of the food was f$cking fantastic and the pours were strong! Highly recommend the Korean friend chicken and poke nachos. All of this to say, we don't live in Sacramento but we will definitely be back when we're in town thanks to Madison and the wonderful staff.

I got adventurous today, and ordered the Korean Fried Chicken, which eas served on white rice, with KimChi, Sliced Jalapeños, pickled cucumbers and shredded carrot, with 2 sunny side eggs. The chicken had a nice saucyness to it, that had a very slight heat to it. The breading was not over fried, chicken tender and juicy. All the veggies were fresh and packed full of flavor. Overall, the dish was a nice change of pace and quite delicious. My wife had the Prime Rib sandwich which came with au jus to dip, and fries. Her sandwich was tasty, nice proportions , but the au jus could have been richer. Service and ambiance is on point, with a vibrant bar area that has a wide variety of options from beer to mixed drnks and wine. Parking is available street side at meters, or in several lots or garages within short walking distance.
