We went early and were the only ones there at first. It got busy though. Banchans is a main highlight for me when I eat Korean food, and the ones here did not disappoint. Fish cakes are usually my favorite, but I also really liked the eggplant and kelp noodles. You can always ask for more! We ordered a few things to share. The seafood pa-jun (pancake) was our favorite. It was thick and crispy with an abundant amount of squid. The pieces of Korean popcorn chicken were crispy. The kimchi fried rice was typical. The kimchi soon dubu had a lot of tofu, vegetables, protein, but not enough liquid. Overall, we left with happy and full stomachs! read more

We went there today around 5 pm. It wasn't packed for a Saturday which was good. The place was nice and clean. Staff was friendly and came up to check to see if we needed extra baan Chan which was nice . Because we normally have to flag them down for a refill. We decided to order the spicy galbijim and the iron pot bim bim bap.the bim bim Bap was good but the iron pan they used did not crisp up the rice like other restaurants make it. The spicy galbijim Jim the sauce was kind of salty. The meat was very tough and hard to chew. I had to cut the meat into bit size pieces. The rice cake was too crispy for my liking. The vegetables were undercooked in the galbijim. When it came to baan chan half of them were decent. I only liked the broccoli, seaweed, egg plant and the fish cake . The rest was salty The portion was big. But the taste wasn't there tonight. I felt like a lot of the food was salty and normally I like salty food. Bathroom was spacious and clean. Overall after trying these two dishes I probably won't be back. read more

My wife said the bibambop was very tasty here. But she nearly burned her hands twice bc the stone bowl was super extremely hot!!!! Ouchy!!! The interior was modern, clean & had an open ambiance. The two restrooms were huge & spacious! Service however was excellent. Our waitress kept checking to see if we wanted more banchan! My soup was good although I thought it would include noodles but my wife explained their culture may be different & one must go to a restaurant specifically for it. My bad. We also ordered the lettuce wrapped pork belly which we probably shouldn't had bc it resulted in way too much food!!! Our eyes were always way too big for our tummies. Bc we watched Good Day Sacramento recently & it stuck in my wife's brain to want to try it out. I think we will just order the to go bentos next time! I'm sure we will return again! read more

Had a great time eating here with my partner! It's a hidden gem in sacramento with lots of parking available. It's a grand place that's classy, aesthetic, and feels so clean. They have two bathrooms which are spacious and clean. The service was quick, easy, and super friendly. We got lots of food, so it's a good problem of more food than table. For apps, we got mixed tempura and spicy tuna kimbap. The kimbap was a large portion per slice and filled with classic fillings. So hearty. The mixed tempura was light and not too oily. The banchan was amazing!! So much variety and the sauce was superb. Our favorites were the eggplant, the fish cake, the kimchi was so fresh, and the tofu. My partner ordered the original soup with beef. The flavor was beefy, hot, and delicious. Beautiful color of orange and yellow. I ordered the grilled pork belly. Such a cute presentation with the mini grill. Both orders came with a bowl of white rice. The meat was overall good, tasty but it tasted a bit too charred. Overall, a wonderful experience and we would come again! read more

My husband and I came during that weird window between lunch and dinner, so there wasn't any wait. The place felt very clean and orderly, which I always appreciate. Seldom do we get Korean food that isn't AYCE these days, so there was a bit of sticker shock when we looked at the prices of the individual dishes. However, it is not lost on me that the price of the banchan that comes with the meal might be part of the pricing structure. Also, the banchan was probably my favorite part of the whole experience. Overall, the small dishes didn't feel mushy or overly seasoned, and there were even some that I hadn't seen before, like what I believe were eggplant and pepper dishes. For our entrees, the grilled mackerel was really calling to us, so we ordered that and a bibimbap for rice and more veggie variety. The size of the bibimbap was definitely shareable, and it came out sizzling hot. I recommend mixing all the ingredients right away so the outside of the rice doesn't burn in the pot. Also, maybe add another egg. I love eggs, but the one that it came with didn't really hit the spot for me. As for the grilled mackerel, it definitely looked better in the picture than it actually was. I felt the inside was on the drier side and that the crispiness was lacking a bit on the outside. Also, where were the green onions? That small detail (shown on the menu) could've brightened the dish up and added more depth. The total price we paid for how much we ate wasn't terrible, and it came out to about the same as what we would've paid for an AYCE Korean barbecue meal. However, I think we'll try to stick to AYCE going forward to get the most bang for our buck. read more

Dined on a Wednesday lunch and there was no other customer except us. The service was fine and the atmosphere was good. It was clean and overall an inviting place. The food though was mediocre. They dont have an extensive banchan (8 items only). We finished the first batch before our orders came out. They offered and gave another set for refill. We ordered seafood pa-jun (it was toasted and not that good), LA galbi (which was the only thing that's good that we ordered) and beef bulgogi (which tasted weird; the flavor was different and seemed like not authentic). For the price we paid, it was definitely not worth it. read more

The skinny: Free banchan refill Good quality food Much parking The lengthy: Went to catch up with a friend at noon. Quickly seated by a host/waiter. Everything looked clean, no oil stains, etc. (as expected of a new restaurant). We ordered from the lunch menu: kalbi and bulgogi. Both were excellent. Banchan were excellent- we asked for refills and we were full by the end. Price was $50.00 for two after tax & tip: not bad! I'll be back if I'm in the area and hankering for Korean food :) read more

Came here for dinner on Tuesday evening, and the restaurant was surprisingly empty, the restaurant itself is very spacious and clean, and it seems like a great place to eat. The food came out fairly quickly and this is my new favorite spot for Korean food. Everything tasted great, and it's a great spot to eat with friends. Plenty of parking, and it's a restaurant I'll be frequenting. If you haven't tried Hankki yet you're missing out so give it a shot you won't regret it. read more

Came here for lunch on a Saturday, arriving at around noon. The restaurant was not busy with only a few tables which is a bit alarming, but the Yelp reviews are stellar and my niece loves it, so I had high expectations. We ordered a variety of dishes, including beef and chicken Bulgogi, Korean popcorn chicken (sweet, not spicy), tteokbokki, oxtail soup, and tofu soup. In short, everything was yummy, especially the oxtail soup which was so flavorful. But what made the meal even better is the bonchon! So many variety and all good, especially the kimchi which tasted homemade, always a bonus. The service was fast, the restaurant is clean, and food is excellent. Too bad we don't live here because we would definitely come back! read more

Lots of parking. Nice staff. Clean environment. Extremely large one stall individual bathrooms. Food is good. Would definitely order the seafood pa-jun again! That was actually my fav! I've never had so much seafood in every bite before! Sides were plentiful and fresh. I especially enjoyed the crunch in the kimchi cucumbers. This was my first time here and won't be my last. Would definitely want to come back and try their Naengmym and tonkatsu pork cutlet. read more

We had a great experience at Hankki! We were greeted as soon as we walked in, and the restaurant was clean, spacious, and had a welcoming atmosphere. The staff was attentive and even refilled our banchan and water often checking on us without having to ask, which we really appreciated. The food was delicious! The bossam was incredibly tender, flavorful, and easily our favorite dish. The braised short ribs were rich and fall-off-the-bone tender, and the spicy marinated raw crab had great flavor. The only small issue was that the crab still seemed a little frozen in the center. Aside from that, everything else was excellent, and the presentation was beautiful. Overall, we had a wonderful meal and will definitely be coming back to try more dishes. Highly recommend! read more

We were in Sacramento craving Korean food and saw this restaurant with a grand opening sign on the front of it. We came at 2:12pm after the lunch hours which ended at 2pm, and couldn't take advantage of the lunch price. But that was ok. The restaurant was quiet and relaxing. The ambiance is modern Asian decor, very clean and comfortable. There are tables with chairs and some areas had booth seating. Service was excellent. Our server was very attentive. We placed our order of tempura and beef bimbap. Wait for food didn't take long. The bimbap was huge so hubby and I shared it. Banchan was plentiful. Tempura was super hot and crispy. Everything delicious. Excellent service, food, and ambiance! read more

I've heard a lot of great things about Hankki so I made a reservation for our large group. We had the perfect size group for their "patio" space which is still indoors, and it's not entirely closed off but it did feel more private since we were in the front corner and away from other groups in the main part of the restaurant. Service was amazing! They were very attentive and pleasant to all of our group's requests. The menu had quite a few things unavailable, not sure if it's because they recently opened or just bad timing when we came, but still a decent amount of options for our group to try. The menu overall isn't as extensive as other Korean restaurants in the area though. The only comments for improvement are the bulgogi beef, which could be more caramelized, and the grilled pork belly was a bit dry, since you really do need to eat it right away as it comes on a hot stone grill and will continue to cook. They do explain that for the pork belly though, but just personally it didn't have any marinade so I'd be fine skipping it next time. I also wish the galbijjim had more of a stickier consistency in the sauce but I loved the rice cakes inside. Everything else was delicious and I would definitely come back after everything we tried. My standout favorites were the popcorn chicken, kimchi jeon, bossam pork wraps, and japchae. The banchan selection was really good too, my favorites were the tofu, eggplant, potatoes, and fishcake. Very pleased with our first visit and how they handled our big party with grace! read more

Hankki is a great option if you are looking for traditional, well done Korean cuisine. Their panchan is excellent, though they provide 8 dishes so it can be limited compared to other places which can sometimes provide up to 15. Our family had the beef soondubu, the bibimbap, the dak bulgogi, and a lovely Sapporo. Each dish was well balanced with competent flavor profiles. Overall, the price is a little on the expensive side, but typical for Korean in the area. Staff is lovely and does their best, but when we went they only had one front of house worker who was struggling to keep up. Ambiance is fine, nothing to write home about. What makes this place stand out is the well done flavors and quality of their food. Flavor over ambiance, always. read more

I specifically dined in to try the braised beef short ribs. Of course I had to add cheese. Some of the ribs were still chewy and not fall off the bone tender. I loved that this dish included potato's, carrots, onions, rice cakes, and mandu. I asked for spicy sauce; however, the sauce tasted more sweet with barely any spice. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the ribs. The Bossam and the spicy tuna Kimbap was perfectly delicious. No complaints with these dishes. The corn cheese was just okay. Overall, this was a good dinning experience. Will return for the short ribs in the future. read more

My wife picked the place for going out with some friends. We had a reservation. We arrived on time and the place has a parking lot. we got a spot right in front of the place. Inside they had a long couch area to wait in. It was nice. The place was really open and kind of blah looking . They had some wood paneling on the back wall. The counter was in the middle of the room with a showcase that had I think Kimchi to take out. There were quite a few tables taken. It was a nice size dinning area. We told the server/hostess that we had reservations. She had to set up a table for us and we waited for a few minutes. That was fine since our friends were parking. We were seated to one side along the window. The menu was a cool cut out of their name. Pretty neat. The menu had a lot of pictures of the food which was nice. They had a nice selection and not over board with too many foods. The prices were a bit higher than other Korean restaurants. I hope the price would bring great quality. We were going to do family style since there were four of us. But one didn't want to but we still did family style. We ordered the La Galbi, Grilled Pork Belly and the Galbi Tang. They brought us the Banchan. The small dishes. Kimchi was really good and spicy not bad. They had fried tofu and it was very tasty. I liked most of them. My wife's friend got the Original Soon Dudu which is a soup. She really enjoyed it and it was good. She got it with mild spice and it was ok since she doesn't do spicy. So the Galbi Tang came out first. The soup it came with two beef bones. The server didn't bring us scissors or any type of knife. We peeled off the meat with the spoon but the meat was too hard to spit with the spoon. The server/waitress was really busy. So I took out my own knife and cut up the beef. The soup was not bad, we enjoyed it. There was only one waitress/server for the entire place. There were two people bringing out the food and cleaning the tables. Service was lacking because of this. The place was pretty busy and she had to serve all of the tables in the place. Not very good and she barley had time to check on us. I had to get up and go to the counter to get some stuff. The La Galbi came out and it was nice . the meat was cooked properly and good to go. Not much sizzling going on though. :( Lastly the pork belly came out. The worker that brought it out told us to be careful because the plater had a sterno burning inside and it was sizzling. The pork was hard and over cooked and they were cooking it more with the sterno cartridge underneath. This is when I had to go up to the counter. The server was answering a call and I waited to tell her about the over done pork belly. She later came over and asked if we wanted anything else. I told her we just wanted the pork belly but not over done. She said it would be a little while before they could make another one. I told her it was fine since we wanted some pork. The pork belly came out and this time they didn't have the sterno and it just was plated on a grill. I looked at it and some of it was burnt. We all tried it and it was still over cooked and some of it dry. It's supposed to be pork belly and this was like just pork. The server later came over and asked how it was and I told her it was still over cooked. She they told me that was the way they made it and no one else ever complained. Wow !! She left and then came back to ask what we wanted to do with the pork. Did we want to take it off the bill of not? I just told her to do whatever she wanted to do. When we got the bill she left it on. My friend picked up the bill first and was kind of shocked that she left it on the bill. I wasn't , I was shocked at her comment to us. Hopefully they do better on their service in the future and get more staffing. We will see if they make it in the future. For the prices they want I just don't think it's worth it right now. read more

Hankki has been on my list to try for awhile now and finally had the opportunity to go. Went on a Saturday around 5pm and luckily we only had one party in front of us. You have to write your name down when walking in, it should be hanging on the wall. For the food, we ordered the mixed soon dubu which is beef + seafood and we ordered the braised beef short rib w/ cheese which is $5 extra. The soon dubu came out first and it was incredible. So much flavor and the portion size is pretty big. That might have been my favorite dish. The braised beef came out next but they forgot to put the cheese on it. It took awhile to get one of the employees attention to let them know. Once they added the cheese, we started to dig in. The beef was so tender and you could taste the sweet soy sauce. Overall a great experience and I would definitely come back again. Thank you so much Hankki! read more

Arrived as a party of 5 for lunch on a Saturday. A few of us requested hot tea before realizing this is a charge of $5 ... so please be aware. Most Korean restaurants do not charge at all for tea. Ban chan (side dishes) were all especially delicious which is always a good sign to come. We ordered tuna kimbap ($10), bossam ($46), and bibimbap ($23). All incredibly delicious with a high price point (but to be expected these days for Korean cuisine) The restaurant is still in its soft opening phase, so I'm willing to give some grace--but the service definitely needs improvement. We requested extra banchan three separate times before it finally arrived at our table. It was pretty clear the request had been forgotten, but when it was eventually brought out, the server acted as if it had been intentionally delayed for preparation. That response felt off-putting. A simple acknowledgment would have been much more appreciated, especially since the situation was quite obvious. read more

We came in hungry and left satisfied! Their portions are pretty big. We ordered too much but that's okay....leftovers for dinner! I tried bossam for the first time which is basically pork belly served with sides of kimchi, napa cabbage, daikon paper, daikon kimchi, garlic, jalapeño, two sauces, and two servings of steamed rice. I heard about this new place and wanted to try. Not sure how long this place has been opened for. Came here with some friends, four of us. I made reservations just in case, not sure how busy it was on a Saturday night, but we usually do an early dinner. Our reservation was at 5 pm and the place was not busy. At first glance of the place, there were tables not cleaned and a few customers that occupied some of the tables. The server told us to wait a few minutes to set up a table. I guess they don't set up table reservations ahead of time. We decided to order a variety of things off the menu and do family style. We ordered the Galbi Tang, Grilled pork belly, and some BBQ Galbi short ribs. Both of the Galbi tasted good. The soup was flavorful and there were two big bones of short ribs in the soup. There was not much of glass noodles in the soup, though. Very little, a few strands. Not sure why. I really liked the BBQ Galbi, it had nice flavor and it was cooked to the right temperature. The meat was tender. The grilled pork belly that came on a hot plate with a lit sterno was not good at all. The pork was very over cooked. The meat was hard, dry, and chewy. You can't even eat it. We had to tell our server. She offered for them to replace it and cook another. We said yes, but not to over cook it. She told us it would have to wait for it, it will take a few minutes. The replacement pork came and she asked if we wanted the Sterno lit, and we said there's no need for that. Again, the pork was over cooked, but not as bad as the first. This one you can still eat. The meat was dry and chewy. So we just decided choked it down, cause we didn't want to wait for our food anymore. We were done with the waiting. Overall, food was ok, mediocre. There were some cooking issues. I can understand overcooking meat the first time, but the second chance is giving and not corrected. I think the idea for the pork belly presentations is a bust, the grill plate with Sterno is not needed. There wasn't anything special about it. They said it is to keep the pork warm. No need to keep it warm, when the pork isn't edible. I thought some of the pricing for the dishes was a little high. If you are going to charge those prices, the food better be awesome. Service was mediocre, also. Our server was nice, but lacked in being attentive and did not handle our over cooked dish well. She did offer us to replace the dish, but when you mess up the second time, it should have been taken off our bill. She even asked how our dish was and we told her that the dish is over cooked again. I probably won't be coming back again. First impression was a fail. read more

If you need a break from Korean BBQ but still want to enjoy Korean food then this is your next place to try. I highly suggest you make a reservation as I was able to get seated within 5 mins rather than waiting especially when it's busy. Moo the owner said Hankki has been open about 3 weeks now. Not sure what this spot used to be but it is hard to see from the road so use navigation. The interior is casual and service is friendly. We tried the mixed tempura $16. Two shrimp and a large variety of vegges. Soft tofu soup with beef and seafood $20. The soup is warm and hearty but mild spice lacked punch get at least medium spice. I wanted chicken bulgogi but wifey wanted seafood pancakes so I guess I will gave to wait for next time. The seafood pancake is huge and pricey $26. I would suggest offering a half size pancake. I want to give this place a 1 star so they won't get busier but that wouldn't be fair to the business itself. This place has the best Yukgaejang [spicy stew with beef and veggies]. It made the entire experience for us. The depth of the soup, the textures of the veggies with the brisket meat. You can't go wrong if you like a spicy Korean soup. We also love their seafood pancake here. It is light and airy, not dense like most places, the squid is tender and the veggies are fresh. It tasted more like a light tempura batter that wasn't greasy. Dip this in the soup and you'll be so happy. Their beef bulgolgi was good but their chicken was better. Our family does not typically order chicken dishes but this one, was probably the best chicken dish we have had in the last year. The meat was tender, juicy, and still had a great char to it. They're a bit short staffed but the employees there are great and do their best to give you a wonderful experience. Love the casual vibe, delicious food, and fast service. Overall? Quality, authentic non KBBQ Korean food is surprisingly hard to find in Sacramento. Eventually the novelty of heavily marinated meats and robot servers wears off, and you start craving dishes that actually tastes genuine. Hankki delivered on that. I was initially thrown off by the stark white interior, which felt a little too sterile, but the second the food hit the table, none of that mattered. The flavors felt deeply homemade in the best way possible and honestly reminded me of my mother-in-law's cooking, which is a very high bar. Service was warm and attentive throughout. A few dishes we wanted were unavailable, which was disappointing, but honestly just gives me another reason to come back Parking? Lot We had: Braised Short Rib (5/5): Absolutely great. The short rib was everything you want from a proper braise. Tender enough to pull apart easily, but still structured enough to remind you you're eating a serious cut of meat. The sweet sauce brought rich, savory depth without becoming heavy. The rice cakes added chew, the carrots and onions brought balance, and the pine nuts gave little pockets of texture that kept the dish interesting. The surprise addition of dumplings pushed it over the top and made the whole thing feel generous and comforting in the best way. We went with the sweet version because of our daughter but would love to try the spicy option . Deeply satisfying and easily a 5/5 Kimchi-jun (5/5): This one hit every mark. Perfectly crisp on the outside with enough chew inside to keep it satisfying without feeling heavy. The kimchi had real punch and acidity, so every bite carried that tangy, savory depth you want from a proper jeon. It was evenly cooked, not greasy, and loaded with flavor throughout instead of hiding behind batter. And the portion was enormous. Not "big for an appetizer" big, genuinely huge. The kind of plate that lands on the table and immediately gets everyone's attention. Easy 5 out of 5. read more

Was already slightly peeved about that but we ordered veggie bibimbap, seafood pa-jun and chicken bulgogi. Took about half hour for the food to arrive. If it wasn't for the banchan, we would've been hangry. The food was pretty GOOD. Made up for their shortcomings. Still a soft opening so there are items on menu that are not available yet. On weekends, they only serve dinner option, no lunch. We ordered a seafood pancake, seafood soondubu, army stew, LA Galbi, corn cheese. Although the seafood pancake had a lot of toppings in it, it was way over fried, almost burnt. The burnt taste covered all the seafood and batter taste so I felt I was just eating over fried chips. I should have asked them to remake that. The seafood soondubu was good. It had a lot of seafood and flavor. The army stew was tasty, but adding cheese and ramen costed extra. LA Galbi was flavorful and cooked pretty well, not a lot of fatty pieces. I did think this place was slight on the pricier side. There's no grill for k bbq here so just regular Korean food. Wanted kimbap but they said they didn't make it this weekend. read more
