A cute new establishment inside the iconic Osaka Ya. I've been excited to try it! And wow, is the hype real. You can order online or on a screen inside the establishment, but the orders are provided out the window facing the street. There is a slight discount if you use cash, but card and tap are accepted. The only decor elements is the bright pink, purple, and teal pastels in their marketing materials, but it is super cute nonetheless. There are exactly three tables outside on the sidewalk with several chairs. The staff seem like they're working hard but there is still a bit of a wait for orders. We ordered the Cluckin Katsu Sando and were thoroughly impressed. The sandwich was so perfectly well balanced in terms of flavors and textures. Honestly, one of the best chicken sandwiches in Sacramento. It you're an aficionado, you must try and let me know your thoughts. The Loco Moco was also incredible. I picked the mushroom sauce over the curry and it was so unctuous and flavorful. Also, an incredible offering. This has been in my bookmarks for a while and I finally had the chance to go try it. I don't live too far from here so it wasn't hard to get to the place. It's in downtown and shares the same kitchen/shop/building as Osaka-Ya. Parking can be in the neighborhoods or surrounding streets. No dedicated parking lot. There are a few spots right in front, but those are usually taken. I ordered online for pick up and was 30 minutes late to pick up (thanks work), but the gentleman assisting me was nice and has great customer service. I did get my food to go. The sandwich itself was nice. I would say above average. Maybe next time I'll try it fresh, but it did lose it's crunchy texture due to my late pick up. I got the Jtown sando and it does come with chili oil, which will pool at the bottom of the paper wrapping if left for too long. I also got the cookie, which was thin, but huge. I've been craving sandos for so long so when I found this place, I had to check it out. What I didn't realize was that it shares the same store next to Osaka-Ya, where they sell the shaved ice! While waiting for the sandos, it was easy to just walk into the store next door to buy some onigiri and mochi I ordered a Cluckin Katsu Sandwich and my friend ordered a J-Town Hot Chicken Sando. I wanted to order the Tamago and seasonal fruit sando, but they were sold out by the time I got there. It turned out that the Cluckin Katsu Sandwich was more than enough for me too haha. I ended up saving the other half of the sandwich for dinner. As others have mentioned, the chicken is HUGE and the egg salad is a great complement to the softness of the meat. I'm so glad I stopped by! They are serving out of a window attached to Osaka-ya. You can order off of your phone and then they have a few tables out there where you can wait. I got their Takoyaki Fries ($14) and J-Town Hot Chicken sandwich ($16). The fries were loaded with flavor and were a huge portion! The Chicken sandwich was also huge! They give you a huge piece of chicken and the flavors were so good. The chicken was nice a juicy and can easily be split between two people. I will say, I think they use a hot chili oil to make it a little spicy and so it is pretty messy. I felt like it was a little too much oil for me but totally personal preference. I would definitely still get it again even with all the oil. They're open Wednesday - Saturday 11am-2pm or until they sell out. Their service was superb, informing customers how long their order would take since the katsu is fried per order. I appreciated the information . I had to try the Friday Mucho Fish Sando, it was perfectly fried and perfectly seasoned with pickled cabbage, pickled cucumbers and an amazing tarter sauce. There was a crunch with every bite! Loved it! I was also able to taste the J-Town Hot Chicken Sando, not overly spicy with a good portion of chicken. King of Sandwiches! The egg sandwich, Wagyu beef sandwich, and Much-O-Fish has been outstanding. I personally used to love the McDonald's Fillet-O-Fish, but this is a step above. Everything is upgraded from the brioche bun, homemade tartar sauce to the big fish skirt. This really made my Friday, so don't sleep on this sandwich whenever you see it on the menu. This was a real treat. The katsudon was delicious as well. The pieces of chicken was thick and juicy paired with the carmelized onions and egg, on top of perfectly cooked short grain rice. I ordered online and picked up at the Osaka-ya window, very fast and convenient. There are tables outside to enjoy your food too but I decided to wait until I got home. The sandwich was enough to feed two people. It was very large and filling. The ingredients were pretty fresh and flavorful. The miso cookie was chewy and crisp with a light sprinkle salt. A perfect pairing of sweet and salty. The guy at the register was prompt and there is plenty of reminders to order online if you don't want to wait in line. While it was tasty, I do think it's a tad pricey for the portion. I'd say it's definitely a must try if you're not familiar with this type of sandwich. I was delighted to see Mecha Mucho was doing a pop-up in my hood, and even better I saw they were taking pre-orders so I got on it in case they sold out. I had a chance to try the bacon egg drop sando, curry tots, and okonomiyaki tots. Everything was great but the stand out was the okonomiyaki tots. I'd definitely get that again. The plethora of flavors with the umami goodness of the bonito flakes was a treat for my taste buds. The egg sando was pretty nice, the egg was slightly sweet as it should be, and the shokupan was milky good. I think they were running pretty behind on things due to the huge response from the fan base, so kinda bummed it was not a flawless event. I saw a lot of sad faces waiting for their food long time. Out of the three, my favorite was the Cluckin' Katsu Sando. The chicken was perfectly juicy and fresh. The other two sandwiches were good as well but the classic flavors of the Cluckin' Katsu Chicken was definitely the star of the show. The Spam Musu Mi Sando reminded me of a spam version of a banh mi. It had all of the same veggies and had a very similar taste profile. So glad I finally stopped by to try out Mecha Mucho! They're serving out of the Osaka-Ya window until April and have delicious sandwiches, cookies, curry and unique drinks and chips to go with your meal. I ordered online after reading other reviews and as I was ordering their egg salad Sando sold out. I ended up getting a Spam Musu Mi and Clickin' Katsu Sando to go halfsies with a friend as well as a Side of Winter Curry for each of us to dip the sandwiches in and their Banzai Bunny grape sodas. When I arrived they let me know they had two cookies left (they were marked as sold out on the website) so I added those to my order too. I was lucky and grabbed a spot right out front and the team members there were super friendly. We had some small talk as they got my order together and they threw in some Hi Chews with our order. As soon as I got to my friend's we dug in (well right after I took photos). The bread was super soft and the toppings were well balanced. The proteins were a good portion and the veggies were fresh and crunchy. The egg salad was also light and not overpowering. The Curry is a must with the sandwiches though- so good, especially when you dip the sandwich. We tried the Lay's Numb n Spicy Hot Pot chips and the Lay's Cumin Lamb Skewer and both were tasty and unique- I had never seen these flavors before. The Banzai Bunny was very tasty too! It's like sparking grape cider. The MM cookies were the perfect end to the meal and go great with a coffee. I only ate half and I'm excited for the other half soon.
