After a decades absence I finally made my return to Boulevard Bistro. FYI dogs are allowed in the outdoor patio even though Yelp says "no dogs". Service is still top notch and the warm brie appetizer with kumquat preserves is crave worthy. Everything was great but we were slightly disappointed in our entrees both the salmon and duck confit were not as crispy as we would have liked. In addition my vegetables were overcooked. Overall this is still one of the best restaurants in the Sacramento area.

My husband took me here to celebrate our 4th year wedding anniversary. It was a very cozy and small restaurant. Food was very tasty! We were seated and usually server/waiters will ask if we're celebrating anything special or have any dietary restrictions, but ours didn't. Note, they only do something special for birthdays but not anniversaries here. Bummer. We ordered the thyme and thyme again drink, the octopus, mushroom cream soup, ribeye for two (comes with peppercorn sauce, fingerling potatoes and broccoli). For dessert, we tried the banana cheesecake. The thyme and thyme again drink was very delicious! Light hint of thyme and very fragrant peach! Highly recommend! The octopus appetizer was ok, I could do without. It was basically like escargot but with octopus. A bit bland and octopus had a hint of fishiness. Mushroom cream soup was not on the menu as it was a special item and it was delicious with the croutons! Very flavorful and I like that they split the soup for us since we were sharing. We also ordered the ribeye for 2 and it was one of the special items. We got medium rare and it was cooked to perfection! Very tasty! We also asked if they could do fries instead of fingerling potatoes and they were able to do it for us! For dessert, we opted for the banana cheesecake and I must say it was underwhelming, the cheesecake was a bit too salty, the banana was not overpowering. It would been nice if there was more of the meringue. Overall delicious food! The complimentary bread was so tasty that we got seconds. The second server, Messiah, was excellent! He was very attentive and asked us if we wanted more bread and water without us flagging him down.

Love this place! This place is a hidden gem in Elk Grove. Every time I've gone they have had really great food and service. It's a smaller restaurant so you definitely need to make reservations.

We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday last night and had an amazing experience. Aidan was our server and the service was outstanding--friendly, attentive, and he really made the night feel special. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared. Everything we ordered was fresh and full of flavor. Their filet mignon melts in your mouth and is the best I have ever had. It beats any filet you would find at a high end steakhouse. The wine is very reasonably priced. We shared a bottle of the Christopher Cellars winemaker select red. Their winery is right down the road. Boulevard Bistro only seats 30 so expect a small intimate setting. It is a cottage that has been converted into a restaurant. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for delicious food and exceptional service. They offer the birthday person a free dessert and we noticed that there were several birthdays that evening. We will definitely be back!

This cute unpretentious restaurant is easily missed as you drive along Elk Grove Boulevard but it is the Boulevard's Bistro leaving nothing to be desired. We didn't have reservations so they were kind enough to seat us at the bar. Cali made us delicious mocktails and served us some focaccia bread (made in house daily). We had three trays.... Need I say more. Next we had the oven baked brie as an appetizer, a wedge salad, the salmon and filet mignon (medium). I've never had salmon seared as perfectly as this. And the filet was cooked a perfect medium and literally melted in my mouth. Everything was just delicious, fresh and just perfect. My husband commented that it took him back to a really special culinary experience we had at a chef's table on a cruise we went on during our honeymoon (but I genuinely think this was better). I think this is Elk Grove's best kept secret... well maybe it's not a secret but I feel like it was a secret to me until tonight. I have lived in the area my entire life and never knew this place has been here 20 years!! The staff was friendly, down to earth and very warm. Cali was a sweetheart and kept us company. Aden, our server shared with us some history about the family who owns the restaurant and was very pleasant to talk with. Another gentleman shared some information about the dishes we were enjoying. We will definitely be back and bring friends!!

We came here to celebrate birthday...... I love how this place is tiny and so cozy with all the wonderful staffs especially Aiden and his fiancée went above and beyond to decorate our table nice and made it so pretty. The food is so good, even their complimentary bread is good. Their service are outstanding! I will be back

My man surprised me by taking me here on a date night. When driving up, we totally thought we were not in the right area, since it was a housing area (the restaurant is literally a renovated home). It is quaint, inviting, and uber romantic. We absolutely splurged here, as this is the place to do it. The quality here is unparalleled, and rivals the type of food you would get in San Francisco at a fine dining restaurant. I felt like we ordered a little of everything (oysters, mushroom mousse, halibut, and fruit cobbler), and it all was so delectable, we were practically moaning at the table while eating. We asked to split the fish dinner, and they served it to us already split, which was that little extra step we appreciated. People next to us ended up ordering what we got, which was hilarious. Let me say the topping to the cobbler is unlike anything I have tasted, it made me wonder what it was made of, since there was such a flavor of vanilla but maybe it was done with almond flour or something different--it was just incredible. I go a decaf coffee with dessert, and it was the best decaf I have ever had...EVER. Everything is done to perfection and there is literally nothing I would say that would make anything better--unless they could serve this to me in bed LOL. Jokes aside, every plate is not just food, it is passion served to you on a plate. No detail goes unnoticed. This is THE place to go for a romantic night out in Elk Grove (or the entire Central Valley for that matter)!

Still one of my favorite spots! Always great food and great service. Does not matter who takes care of you, all the staff are always super nice and friendly. The restaurant is perfect for couples or bigger groups, just an over all great place.

Let me start off by saying if I could give this place 100 stars I would. Me and my husband came for our 1 year anniversary and we will definitely be returning. Start off the building is so adorable like a little house, the inside is very intimate and nice. The service was just great, our waiters were very friendly, would check on us often, recommended us great things. I am not a big fan of wine (they only serve wine and beer) I love a sweet cocktail but our server recommended me a wine that was sweet and I actually finished the whole drink! The food was SO GOOD me and my husband are typically kind of picky when it comes to food but I can say everything was just great. My favorite was the octopus we already ordered another plate because the first was too good, very soft and seasoned well. The menu is seasonal so if you get a chance get the banana cheesecake, I am not a big banana fan because I feel like banana is a very strong flavor but it was so well balanced , also they torched marshmallow under it paired so perfectly. Thank you to Boulevard Bistro for giving me and my husband an amazing 1 year anniversary dinner!

Always a good time here at Boulevard Bistro with great food and great service. It's small and quaint. The menu doesn't change very often; wish they offered more seasonal specials and small dishes.

Boulevard Bistro is a small and comfortable restaurant and the dishes are served beautifully. The food was tasty and in the cooking technique, the service was not intrusive, but alert, and the ambience was relaxing and welcoming. An excellent place to have dinner or a special evening out.

    Are children allowed?

Of course, but you should prepare them to be on their best behavior.

    Is there a dress code?

Not a sweat pants and ripped jean place. Date night or business casual is more the vibe here

    Open for dine in yet?

No, we made reservations online since the booking system was still open so we assumed that meant they were open. We showed up today 8/25/20 and it was closed.

How do we make a reservation?

    Call the restaurant.

    Is it wheelchair accessible?

Yes but it's a small narrow restaurant so I wouldn't advise going during prime time.

How is the parking here? I am not sure where the parking is located. Is it safe for expensive…

Parking is behind the restaurant. There's a designated lot, plenty big, very safe.

Is there an outdoor seating area?

    No there is not

Do people usually dress up for this restaurant?

You will find people dressed from casual to dressy. You won't be out of place if you wear a nice dress or jeans. If it is a special occasion or you want to dress up for dinner, that would be fine. Expect to pay $80 to $120 for dinner for two.

    Do I need a reservation?

    Yes!

    Any vegan options available?

Call ahead the Chef is willing to work with dietary restrictions.

It's hot today and I'm wearing shorts. Do I need to change? Are shorts appropriate?

You'll be fine. Please come in

My husband & I live in the Monterey area, but our elderly moms live in Galt & Pioneer. So, with busy lives we decided to try & give them a Mother's Day they'd really like. I was searching up restaurants that were doing Mother's Day events in their area. I didn't want to do a buffet or be in a place that was going to be so packed no one could hear each other. Tough challenge. But I found the Mother's Day brunch event at the Brick House, so decided to make reservations. I personally liked that you had to leave a deposit to hold the reservation. That tells me they're serious about making sure it was not overcrowded. The menu was limited due to it being a special event, but the items to choose from seemed interesting. Plus the bottomless mimosas & bloody Mary's was a big bonus. Our reservation was at 10:15AM. I'll start off with the review by mentioning my dad. He is a grumpy old guy who doesn't get out much. I've had to "warn" wait staff to ignore him; that he's a grump & won't be paying the bill, we will, so to not let any comments phase them, & we will try to keep him in line. Luckily he doesn't know what yelp is! When we were reviewing the menu the night before, he made the comments, "weird menu, it will be crowded, bottomless drinks? That means they will come by one time with tiny glasses." So we arrive a little early but are immediately seated in a very quiet area with only a couple of other tables occupied. The Grumpy old man: "see. They stuck us where we won't get any service." As soon as we sat down our waitress came over & immediately wished us all a happy mother's Day & could she get us a Bloody Mary or mimosa & that they were bottomless. And that she'd also be bringing our pastry board. We ordered our drinks & my dad made the comments, loud enough for the waitress to hear, "ok girls. Your one small mimosa will be coming out along with cold donuts. you'll never be offered another one, so enjoy." Within a few minutes us moms got our mimosas. In large wine glasses, filled to the top. Grumpy old man got a Bloody Mary. Nice selection of Pastries were hot out of the oven. He Made the comment, "great, a weak drink." (He hadn't taken a sip yet.") We told the waitress we would need a few minutes to look at the menu, she said fine. No rush. She came back & saw my mom & dad were nearly done with their drinks. Offered another while she took our order. My dad replied: "no. I'm driving." Translation: it's a strong drink. We went to order & my dad ordered the eggs Benedict with pork belly. also muttering it sounded weird, and it would be a shame to throw out such expensive food. He ate every bite & told the waitress it was "ok." (He rarely eats all his food.) Translation: it was probably one of the best he's had. I had the vegetable quiche & it was very good. The mimosas kept being offered & were flowing for the moms well after our food was finished which for it being a special, reservation only event was a pleasant surprise. We finely told the waitress at round 4 us girls were done. The restaurant remained quiet & when we left, it was busy, but not overly so. The manager, Chris, was greeting people & wishing the moms a happy Mother's Day. We were there for a couple of hours & never felt rushed to leave. When the bill came & my husband went to pay it, my dad told him to make sure the tip wasn't included before not leaving one. The waitress had to put up with us girls Constantly getting mimosas without asking for them. Translation: he felt like he had a nice time, the waitress made sure us moms had a nice time & wanted to make sure she got a tip. Us girls decided that we wanted to come back for regular happy hour/dinner next time we visited. My dad grumbled that he'd have to come too so we'd have a ride back. Translation: he wants to come back. Lol It was pricey, but worth every penny for the wonderful Mother's Day we were able to give our older moms. I'd definitely do it again next year if they have it. Thank you!

It seems like a tough crowd--but after my visit, I can see why expectations run high. My cheeseburger featured high-quality, freshly ground beef that was well-seasoned with a flavorful, salty crust. The patty was tender and juicy, exactly what you want from a handcrafted burger. The brioche bun was nicely toasted, and the cheese melted perfectly over the patties--both essential details that elevate a great cheeseburger. The burger was simply but thoughtfully assembled with shredded lettuce, sliced onion, pickles, and Butcher's aioli. Their house-made sauce added a nice depth of flavor without overpowering the beef. I appreciated how they kept the toppings classic and balanced--fresh, crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, red onion, and tangy pickles complement the richness of the patty and sauce beautifully. The fries were just as impressive. They had that ideal contrast: an ultra-crispy, golden-brown exterior with a light, fluffy interior. Perfectly seasoned, pleasantly salty, not greasy, and sturdy enough to hold their shape--they checked all the boxes. Overall, they hit all the key elements of a truly great handcrafted cheeseburger and fries. High marks from me.

What convinced me was their Valentine's menu and let me say it sure didn't disappoint! Our server was Mia who was an absolute pleasure to have. She was attentive, kind, and very informative of the menu when we were indecisive. We were seated in their speakeasy, completely separate from the main restaurant, which I enjoyed much more. (less hustle and bustle) The ambiance was more romantic and intimate. I chose the Grilled Salmon served with garlic mash potatoes, fried brussels sprouts, and maple bourbon glaze. This was 15/10! Everything was perfection. The salmon wasn't too wet or dry, brussels were lightly crispy and not bitter like I've had at other places, garlic mash was well-seasoned and so creamy and fluffy. That glaze was everything that pulled the dish together! The maple glaze wasn't too sweet and had a nice subtle flavor. If they ever have this on their regular menu I'd order in a heartbeat. My husband got their North Atlantic Lobster Tail. They did not skimp on the lobster at all!!! His plate was served with bistro rice, broccolini, and butter to drown the lobster in of course. Rice was fluffy but could've used a bit more seasoning and broccolini was cooked well while still having a bit of a bite to it. We ended the evening with their Pot de Crème served with hazelnuts, strawberries, and whipped cream. This was another delicious bite! Yes, it is chocolate so you would expect something super decadent and overly sweet. That was not the case... It was similar to a mousse but a little more denser and rich but still offering such a creamy and silky texture. Glad we came here to celebrate Valentine's Day! Cheers to second chances!

We had checked online and even called and were told no tables, but figured maybe we could grab a spot at the bar. When we walked in, I thought, " What's the harm in asking"...and somehow a table for two had just opened up. One of those meant-to-be moments. I started with a martini, which was great, and I ordered the macadamia crusted halibut special with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The fish itself was really good. The potatoes needed a little help, though. I definitely wish I had asked for extra sauce and a little salt and pepper, but I did appreciate that they tasted homemade with those bigger chunks. We also got the French onion soup to start, and that was so good. It had little tips of filet in it, and honestly, that might have been my favorite part of the whole meal. My husband ordered the stuffed chicken, and this is where things kind of went sideways. The chicken was really dry, and then halfway through, he bit down on what looked like a cherry pit. Definitely not something you expect, and kind of a mood killer. We called the waiter over, and they were very apologetic, and the service the entire night really was great. But between the dry chicken and that surprise, we were kind of done at that point. We were planning on dessert, but just didn't even feel like it anymore. That said, we've been here before and have had really great meals, which is why I wouldn't write it off. The service was great, everything was clean, and it still has that nice, classic feel. Also, a side note, I used the restroom before we left, and I have to say, as a mom, seeing an actual changing station with drawers and supplies made me so happy. I remember those flimsy fold down tables and being nervous using them, so this felt like such a thoughtful touch. They even had a bidet, which I tried to check out, but it wasn't working. Helpful tip: Get the French onion soup, and if your dish comes with a sauce...ask for extra. Not a perfect night, but enough good here that we'd come back again.

I was ready to leave if they said no (completely understand) however, the staff here is absolutely incredible and so kind! She warned us about the wait in the kitchen so I was prepared for the delays due to the busy valentines dinner rush. It took about 25 minutes to get a table (not bad at all). As we waited, we grabbed a drink at the bar... it took the entire 25 minutes to make our drinks. But at least we had our drinks for dinner. Once we ordered our food it took about 45-50 minutes (no problem.. I'm pretty easy going and she warned us) My issue was after patiently waiting for my food, it needed to be returned twice! I rarely return food.. I ordered a chicken club (Chicken Club Sandwich Grilled chicken breast, served on a garlic butter roll with pesto aioli, white cheddar cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes Make it crispy) YUM right? No... it's not what I got. I got a chicken sandwich with thousand island dressing (nasty) pickles, BLT. Onion. When I got it the first time, the waiter quickly apologized and took it back to be fixed. Again, the servers are amazing!! Another 15 minutes later (after everyone else half finished eating) I got my new order..... it was the same but on a different bread. I thought I was going crazy and had to look at the menu 20 minutes thinking I messed up... the waitress reassured me that the kitchen messed up again. Our waitress wanted to fix it but I cancelled my order as I was eating everyone else's fries at the table and didn't really want to wait any longer. Oh on top of it, they also served me a rare French fry with my second incorrect meal :(. I do have to say the ranch is delicious and the salmon burger was perfection!!!!! The shrimp scampi could use some more sauce. Otherwise I won't let this stop me from coming back one more time as I'm hoping this was a one off.

I do have one suggestion. I completely understand and appreciate the elevated vibe they're going for--it's part of what makes the place special. That said, I think there may be a bit of a missed opportunity with the bocce ball courts. There are large signs saying kids can't play on them and must stay with adults, but honestly, I come here at least once a quarter and they're often not being used. Given the location and the number of families in the area, it could be interesting to consider adding a small playground in the back. I know that might sound unconventional for a place like this, but I've seen restaurants do this successfully in Europe. What's really missing around here is a place where parents can enjoy an incredible meal and drinks while their kids have a safe place to play nearby. Right now, the only places that come close are breweries. There are almost always families here when I visit, so just a thought! Either way, Shangri-La remains one of my favorite spots.

Our server Kyle helped provide insight on the menu and our drinks when we asked. We were uncertain about the portions so he helped us with that as well. We ordered the tots (texture was on point), citrus salad, oysters, pickles, drumsticks (very tender), and beets. We really appreciated getting new clean plates for our fish and asparagus dish. The establishment was easy to locate, parking was limited and they offered indoor and patio seating. The inside was very loud but modern and cute. We honestly weren't wowd over the selection for entrees so we decided to go with appetizers, cocktails and desserts. The tots were crisp and the mole was a perfect flavor combo. The shrimp beignet was amazing, I could have ate two servings. For cocktails we ordered the "first born" and a classic margarita, both were tasty. And for desserts we chose the honey basque cheesecake (didn't love), 50/50 pot de creme 10/10, and the carrot cake churros (worth trying). Our waitress was very nice and accommodating, I didn't catch her name though. Over all, I'd say worth a try once, but I wouldn't choose again.
