I've been to this establishment multiple times, and never once had I wished that the food was better, the environment needed anything else, or that the service needed calibrating. Had dinner here.. always so delicious! Restaurant is quite small and reservation is highly recommended. For a Thursday evening they were still very busy. Service is always so amazing! The staff is super attentive and ready to fill your cups or take away any finished dishes. Tonight I had the plum salad. Sounded a little on the wild side but it was amazing! So sweet and refreshing I ate every bit of it! Loved it! For my entree I picked the braised short ribs .. it was so tender! I was put off by the blue cheese mash beneath it a bit but it's ok because the short rib was so delicious. For dessert I had the berry crumb cobbler. The cobbler came with a dollop of vanilla ice cream on top. It was great! The berries were sweet and the crumb top was so buttery. Everything flowed deliciously. My husband had the filet mignon.. he said it was made medium rare just as he asked. And of course the crème brûlée is the reason why he keeps coming back lol My go to for fine dining in Elk Grove! I made a reservation inquiry for my birthday at exactly 5:00 PM on Saturday, April 11, for a party of two. I was told the earliest available reservation was 7:45 PM. I then asked if there was any chance of being seated sooner as a walk-in, and Aubrey told me they had room for two at a table in the bar area. I specifically asked whether it was an actual table where we could comfortably order food, because I did not want to be stuck at some tiny corner setup where only one plate could fit. I also made it clear that it was my birthday and that I wanted something a little more formal and comfortable. I was told it would be in the front by the bar, not shoved in a corner, though it could be a little crowded if people were in the waiting area. When we arrived, the first issue was parking. For a first-time guest, parking was unnecessarily difficult to figure out, especially during a rainstorm. Since the restaurant is set up like a small house, it was not obvious where to park, and there was no clear sign letting us know there was parking around the back. Once we walked in, I immediately saw the table that had been described to us. It was right near the bar against the wall, and it was much smaller and more awkward than I had been led to believe. My girlfriend was wearing a dress, and because it was such a high table, it made it uncomfortable for her to sit naturally and comfortably. As soon as we sat down, I looked at the table and asked if we were really going to be able to order multiple items and eat comfortably there. I was told they would "pace it" and "make it work." That should have been the warning sign right there. We started with two ice waters, and even that nearly filled the table. They brought a pitcher and poured the water into the glasses. I asked for a separate cup of ice, and because there was so little room on the table, I had to ask the waiter to take the glass back and pour it for me so I would not spill everything. That is how cramped this setup was. We ordered the chicken breast special and a half dozen oysters. First came the garlic bread, and now we had bread, butter, two waters, silverware everywhere, and barely any room left. Then the oysters arrived, and everything had to be shifted around just to make it fit. At that point, the table had bread, oysters, hot sauce, waters, and multiple pieces of silverware for each guest, and it felt like one wrong move would send a glass to the floor. After we finished the oysters and bread, they cleared the table and brought out our entrée. We ordered the shareable chicken breast after I specifically asked whether it would be enough food for both of us. The waiter said it should be. In reality, it was about four small pieces of chicken once cut, three asparagus spears, and two very small scoops of mashed potatoes. For the price, it was honestly disappointing. I cannot remember the last time I paid that much at a nicer restaurant and still left hungry. What made it worse was that they knew it was my birthday and did absolutely nothing to acknowledge it. No small dessert, no candle, no gesture, nothing. Ironically, the only people who made the night feel special were another couple who had apparently been dining there for years. They overheard us mention it was my birthday and kindly bought us two sparkling wines. That was thoughtful, but it also added even more clutter to an already ridiculously tiny table. The service overall was underwhelming. We were barely checked on, and the whole experience felt awkward. The hostess kept staring at us throughout the meal, and at one point, she rolled her eyes when she went to take the Tabasco sauce, and we told her we still needed it for the chicken. For the prices Boulevard Bistro charges, I expected much better service, better communication, and a much more comfortable dining experience. Instead, the whole night felt misleading, cramped, and disappointing. I will not be coming back. read more

Came here for our family's anniversary and we had such a wonderful time! Thank you to all of the AMAZING servers who made sure we had a memorable night!!! No wine glass was left empty throughout the night. All the servers were very attentive and accommodating. We were large party, but they made sure everyone was taken care of. We sat in the outdoor patio and loved the ambiance with the lights during the sunset. We brought our karaoke and sang throughout the night. Loved that the servers joined us as well. Food was excellent, of course! We loved all of the appetizers (chicken skin, octopus, spinach dip). After a decades absence I finally made my return to Boulevard Bistro. FYI dogs are allowed in the outdoor patio even though Yelp says "no dogs". Service is still top notch and the warm brie appetizer with kumquat preserves is crave worthy. Everything was great but we were slightly disappointed in our entrees both the salmon and duck confit were not as crispy as we would have liked. In addition my vegetables were overcooked. My husband took me here to celebrate our 4th year wedding anniversary. It was a very cozy and small restaurant. Food was very tasty! We were seated and usually server/waiters will ask if we're celebrating anything special or have any dietary restrictions, but ours didn't. Note, they only do something special for birthdays but not anniversaries here. Bummer. We ordered the thyme and thyme again drink, the octopus, mushroom cream soup, ribeye for two (comes with peppercorn sauce, fingerling potatoes and broccoli). For dessert, we tried the banana cheesecake. The thyme and thyme again drink was very delicious! Light hint of thyme and very fragrant peach! Highly recommend! The octopus appetizer was ok, I could do without. It was basically like escargot but with octopus. A bit bland and octopus had a hint of fishiness. Mushroom cream soup was not on the menu as it was a special item and it was delicious with the croutons! Very flavorful and I like that they split the soup for us since we were sharing. We also ordered the ribeye for 2 and it was one of the special items. We got medium rare and it was cooked to perfection! Very tasty! We also asked if they could do fries instead of fingerling potatoes and they were able to do it for us! For dessert, we opted for the banana cheesecake and I must say it was underwhelming, the cheesecake was a bit too salty, the banana was not overpowering. It would been nice if there was more of the meringue. Overall delicious food! The complimentary bread was so tasty that we got seconds. The second server, Messiah, was excellent! We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday last night and had an amazing experience. Aidan was our server and the service was outstanding--friendly, attentive, and he really made the night feel special. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully prepared. Everything we ordered was fresh and full of flavor. Their filet mignon melts in your mouth and is the best I have ever had. It beats any filet you would find at a high end steakhouse. The wine is very reasonably priced. We shared a bottle of the Christopher Cellars winemaker select red. Their winery is right down the road. Boulevard Bistro only seats 30 so expect a small intimate setting. It is a cottage that has been converted into a restaurant. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for delicious food and exceptional service. They offer the birthday person a free dessert and we noticed that there were several birthdays that evening. We will definitely be back! read more

Bret is probably the best chef in town. He is creative and unafraid to try new things. He uses local ingredients and is always offering in-season items which I love. He is friendly and personable and always comes out to ask how our meal was. The servers are also very knowledgeable and ready for questions and recommendations. I love the feel of the dining room. Almost like you're somewhere in the French Quarter or on a river boat, paddling down the Missouri River. Such a cool experience. We will be going back soon for sure. read more

This place is truly a hidden gem of Elk Grove. Let me remind you, this is not my first time here in Boulevard Bistro. Ever since I remember, they have remained, the same size wise. It's a cute small restaurant with cozy and romantic vibes. Any scallop fans? Even if you are not, you'll fall in love with their scallops. It's buttery and soft. Best scallops you can ever eat are sold here. From appetizers to drinks, everything are delicious here. My kids didn't care for onion soup but they loved the chicken fingers. My hubby ordered beef and he throughly enjoyed it. We all loved our dishes. Only compliments of this place. Service- excellent. This cute unpretentious restaurant is easily missed as you drive along Elk Grove Boulevard but it is the Boulevard's Bistro leaving nothing to be desired. We didn't have reservations so they were kind enough to seat us at the bar. Cali made us delicious mocktails and served us some focaccia bread (made in house daily). We had three trays.... Need I say more. Next we had the oven baked brie as an appetizer, a wedge salad, the salmon and filet mignon (medium). I've never had salmon seared as perfectly as this. And the filet was cooked a perfect medium and literally melted in my mouth. Everything was just delicious, fresh and just perfect. My husband commented that it took him back to a really special culinary experience we had at a chef's table on a cruise we went on during our honeymoon (but I genuinely think this was better). I think this is Elk Grove's best kept secret... well maybe it's not a secret but I feel like it was a secret to me until tonight. I have lived in the area my entire life and never knew this place has been here 20 years!! The staff was friendly, down to earth and very warm. Cali was a sweetheart and kept us company. Aden, our server shared with us some history about the family who owns the restaurant and was very pleasant to talk with. Another gentleman shared some information about the dishes we were enjoying. My man surprised me by taking me here on a date night. When driving up, we totally thought we were not in the right area, since it was a housing area (the restaurant is literally a renovated home). It is quaint, inviting, and uber romantic. We absolutely splurged here, as this is the place to do it. The quality here is unparalleled, and rivals the type of food you would get in San Francisco at a fine dining restaurant. I felt like we ordered a little of everything (oysters, mushroom mousse, halibut, and fruit cobbler), and it all was so delectable, we were practically moaning at the table while eating. We asked to split the fish dinner, and they served it to us already split, which was that little extra step we appreciated. People next to us ended up ordering what we got, which was hilarious. Let me say the topping to the cobbler is unlike anything I have tasted, it made me wonder what it was made of, since there was such a flavor of vanilla but maybe it was done with almond flour or something different--it was just incredible. I go a decaf coffee with dessert, and it was the best decaf I have ever had...EVER. Everything is done to perfection and there is literally nothing I would say that would make anything better--unless they could serve this to me in bed LOL. Jokes aside, every plate is not just food, it is passion served to you on a plate. No detail goes unnoticed. If you're charging $60 for the average entree - a full bar is mandatory. Also, this might seem insignificant, but for those of us who frequently dine at fine establishments and hotels, the toilet paper roll should be pulled from the top, not the bottom. Pro Tip: Ladies, do not wear heels. The floor is EXTREMELY slippery, I almost slipped and fell on the way in and going to the bathroom (and I clearly wasn't drinking because...no ). I wouldn't go back there for that reason alone. Super dangerous. I will reiterate that the food was delicious, they obviously have a great chef and the staff were all very attentive and friendly. The plating was also on point. I wouldn't go back because of the above mentioned factors, but if you want a great meal with a quaint and quiet atmosphere, it's a good local spot if you're in the Elk Grove area. read more

It is beautiful and very tasteful inside. The service is as good as a restaurant could be. The menu is just right. Options, but not overwhelming. You can tell from the patrons that Boulevard caters to a special guest. The food was excellent. We had various appetizers, including steak tartare. Something that you do not see on a menu often. Our main dinner included lamb chops , pork chop, and steak. All excellent. Did not have dessert since cake was waiting at home, but the crème brûlée was calling me. I've heard about this place so many times since I went to the karate school that used to across the street, so glad to have finally tried it. Walking in was interesting since I believe the restaurant is a repurposed home. The layout made me feel like I was at home too. It was neat how there's a small bar set up at the entrance and you don't see the dining floor until you turn the corner. We had a reservation for 5pm on a Thursday, so there weren't a lot of customers until about halfway through our meal. The server was friendly and had a very inviting vibe, but it felt as though we had more meaningful interaction with the nice employees who were very diligent in changing out our silverware, clearing our plates, and refilling our waters. The steak tartar was a special that was mentioned by the waiter and it was very delicious. It initially came out without the egg on top, so the interaction with the server when he tried to take it back was a bit awkward. Nevertheless, once it was ready to go everyone was quick to get a bite. The bread that came before our meal was a bit strong with the seasoning, but eating it with the tartar helped to cut that down. The staff were nice in offering to split our salads for us as well. My blackberry salad with feta (I believe) was decent, with the blackberry really saving the day. Our entrees felt like they took a while considering there wasn't really anyone in the restaurant at the time, but they were worth the wait. The salmon I ordered had a perfect crispiness on top and the capers and sauce underneath brought some excellent flavors. Lastly, we ordered two orders of bread pudding to celebrate the birthdays at the table and they were so delicious. Usually when I have it anywhere else it's either too dry or too mushy, but this place has it nailed. Not sure if I would come again anytime soon, but very curious to try other offerings since it seems they do change their menu from time to time. read more

I ordered take-out from this place on Valentine's Day and ordered the bone marrow appetizer, duck, and steak entrees. I don't have the receipt but it was probably around $150-200. The bone marrow was great as usual, the duck was tender, and the steak was cooked medium rare as requested. I would recommend dining-in, the restaurant is small but has a home feel (I think it's literally a house). They gave me a side of break to-go as well which was considerate. Overall, this restaurant is great for fancy dates in the Elk Grove area. I don't make enough scratch to eat here occasionally, but this place and Sheldon Inn will scratch that itch if you feel like spending. After eating here, take your date on a short walk down Old Elk Grove to the multiple bars in the area. read more

Let me start off by saying if I could give this place 100 stars I would. Me and my husband came for our 1 year anniversary and we will definitely be returning. Start off the building is so adorable like a little house, the inside is very intimate and nice. The service was just great, our waiters were very friendly, would check on us often, recommended us great things. I am not a big fan of wine (they only serve wine and beer) I love a sweet cocktail but our server recommended me a wine that was sweet and I actually finished the whole drink! The food was SO GOOD me and my husband are typically kind of picky when it comes to food but I can say everything was just great. My favorite was the octopus we already ordered another plate because the first was too good, very soft and seasoned well. The menu is seasonal so if you get a chance get the banana cheesecake, I am not a big banana fan because I feel like banana is a very strong flavor but it was so well balanced , also they torched marshmallow under it paired so perfectly. There's probably not much more to be said about this place that hasn't already been said, but it was such a standout experience for the Elk Grove area that I couldn't not write about it! I've been to restaurants made out of houses before, but never a fine-dining restaurant... and it works! The juxtaposition of high-quality, "fancy" dishes while eating in what was essentially a living room at one point just feels special. For this reason, the experience is quite intimate, with tables fairly close together, so if you're squeamish about others overhearing your conversation, you may feel a tad awkward. For me this added to the charm a bit, as we ended up chatting or joking with folks at other tables a few times. As expected, the food was exquisite, which excellent wine pairings. The filet minion was cooked and seasoned perfectly, along with the pork chops and salmon that my other group ordered. Everything tasted fresh and delicious, even if non of the flavors were necessarily unexpected. This is a place to get high-quality, hearty, American dishes with a fancy flair. Oh, and I should mention that the deviled eggs were some of the best I've ever had, which was a nice surprise! read more

Wanted to check out this place as it was on my son's must-try list for awhile. At first we drove past the unassuming bldg. This restaurant was formally a house on a main street. Good news is there is parking off street behind the " house". Flat path with a bit of rise but otherwise handicap access. Once inside we appreciated the renovations making the former one story house into a comfortable dining place. Hardwood floors add to the comfy welcoming atmosphere. Menu had a fair variety of options for its size. Our group ordered appetizers, grilled bone marrow-deviled egg (just cuz)-steak tartare, which were eaten so fast so no pictures. For entrees we again devoured the seafood choppino, beef bourhuignon, filet mignon and grilled swordfish. No take home boxes needed! Although stuffed, we had to have dessert. These i had to take a photo as I had time and they were nicely presented. While no one favorite , we ranked them a 3-way tie (creme brulee, panna cotta and strawberry ice cream). Of particular mention was the Thyme and Thyme Again cocktail. Very yummy. And the attentive and helpful service but DuRon and team. Such a lovely dinner we had at the Boulevard Bistro! I took a friend here for dinner to celebrate the holiday and we both really enjoyed our dinner. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and very thorough. We started with the bone marrow which was really yummy! For our main courses we ordered the pork chop special and beef bourgeon which I was thought was outstanding!! So tender and extremely flavorful, so YUM! For dessert we tried the crème brûlée and the chocolate decadence both were just right on the sweetness and portions, and really good! Fine dining, but casual and cozy. Really fast, efficient service. We liked a lot of our food - we loved the deviled eggs and pork belly. Whatever apple/radish slaw they use on the pork belly was my husbands favorite - and he hates apples and radish Their food is much richer than it appears or sounds, so be careful to not order too much like we did ;) The portions may look small, but you'll be full before the entrees come out if you order more than 2 appetizers. I actually really like how quiet and lowkey the place was. I could actually enjoy dinner with my partner and have a conversation with him without loud music or big crowds of people.
