I truly enjoy authentic Peruvian food. I came from Santa Barbara to Pasadena only in search of authenticity. My most favorite dishes are lomo saltado, seco de carne, arroz con pollo among others. I got a lomo saltado for myself and a pollo saltado for my friend. In Her words, "I don't remember pollo saltado tasting This good." Bodegon exceeded my high expectations. We came based on my friend's recommendation who visited this place two days in a row. Every dish was incredible and we absolutely inhaled our food. All the staff were all very pleasant and made good conversation with us in English and Spanish. Let me say, I just had the best Lomo Saltado in my life. It was cooked to perfection. I have been to many restaurants in Peru, tried it from La Mar Restaurant in San Francisco, Limon in Burlingame and Cebiche 105 in Miami Beach and none of them compares in flavor to Bodegon. The Seco con frijoles was also phenomenal, the meat was so juicy and tender. We also ordered the chocolate cake with lúcuma ice cream, and oh man, it was amazing! Wow you gotta try it. My first eat and review of the New Year! I've walked past this spot a couple times but only had the pleasure of eating here recently. My partner and I ordered the Jalea Mixta as an appetizer and let me tell you, that is a meal in itself! The variety of fried seafood on there is a treat. You get a little bit of everything and there's more than enough to share. Even the sauce paired with this dish will have you licking your fingers. As for my main course, the Bistec con Tallarin Verde, the basil pasta was alright. Not super flavorful, a good pairing with the steak. The steak was seasoned well with great flavors. I found the meat to be a bit tough but that could be because I ordered it medium-well. I'd order something different next time around. The portions of each dish are beautifully hefty and the atmosphere in the restaurant is really cozy. I will be back again to see what else they have on their menu! read more

Came here on a Friday evening for date night. We ordered quite a few items including the Choclo Serrano, Tamales, and Ceviche B69 for appetizers and the Lomo Saltado and Sudado de Pescado for entrees. We loved the Choclo Serrano and Tamales. The flavor was subtle but delicious. The ceviche was enjoyable but I would probably order the non-B69 mixto since the calamari didn't add much to the dish. As for the entrees, I don't think I've ever had a lomo saltado I did not like and the streak continued here. The flavor was great and the meat was tender and juicy. As for the fish stew, I thought it was okay but my girlfriend liked it. It was a bit too tomato-y for me but just personal preference. We ended the meal with a lucuma (South American fruit) ice cream. Absolutely delicious, so much that I want to find a Peruvian dessert place and buy me a gallon. The best way to describe it is vanilla bean with a hint of sweet potato or maybe pumpkin. Service was awesome as well, especially Carlos! Super friendly and explained to us some of the dishes we were eating, especially the lucuma. Overall, as you can tell by my rating, that I loved the place and will be returning to try the other items on the menu and of course, more lucuma ice cream! read more

It's a cozy little spot with delicious Peruvian food. It was hard to decide which plate to choose. The ambiance is relaxed.

Unfortunately, this being my first visit I was extremely disappointed. Not in the ambiance or friendliness of the staff, but there being A LONG, DARK HAIR IN MY FOOD after waiting for a really long time for said food really put me off. I was the last of my party to receive my food and it was a cold dish (the B69 ceviche more specifically). To be fair we were a party of 10 , but assuming a cold dish would be the fastest to prepare I was also taken aback by how far it took to receive my dish. My dish came with a few fried calamari, which is where the long, dark hair was entangled . Within my party we did share some food so I was able to try a little of their lomo saltado and bistec, which were tasty. However, after discovering that hair it really made me lose my appetite and question the hygiene of the restaurant. They did not charge us for the meal and did offer to replace the dish , but I had to decline . I felt disgusted and paranoid that I would find another hair in the following dish so for my own peace of mind, I just decided not to eat for the remainder of our time there. read more

The place is trying to cater to a variety of styles while charging higher Pasadena prices. I get it, but the experience and food doesn't match the service. I was with my partner and our niece at this restaurant on 06/20/2025 for dinner. While it was a busy night, there were 3-5 tables free inside. We were sat in the back corner away from other customers in a booth with worn seating that allowed the cushioning to be seen inside. We were only given two menus when there were three of us present. The hostess gave us plating for only two people as well. We moved over to the table next to us because of the worn down seat after sitting for approximately 7 minutes. The hostess did come over and help after that point to move another table physically out of our space. After another 5-6 minutes the table next to us was sat down immediately and their server came to speak with them after they were settled within about 2 minutes. Now at this point we still have not been served and the table next to us was already ordering drinks. After the other server had gotten the orders in for that table, our server came up at that time asking if we were ready to order while we were debating if we even wanted to eat there. The server then asked three separate times if we would like anything, "even water." After that thinly veiled insult, I personally had made up my mind that I did not want food from this establishment. Honestly after being treated this way, which at this point I wasn't sure if it was racially motivated or not, we left and I am now writing this review. First off, I want to start by saying that I am not one to normally rate poorly, I will usually go out of my way to rate and praise a good dining experience. However, Bodegon 69 was recently recommended to me. My family took my nephew to celebrate his college graduation. Upon arrival at the restaurant, the host told me there was no reservations, but he could take my party of 5 in within 15 minutes, the wait turned into 35 minutes which was not a problem. Upon being seated in the middle of the restaurant, round table facing north directly towards ( visible Kitchen) I made a few observations, there were several "cooks" in the kitchen looking confused, one-person appeared to be doing all the cooking, owner or manager looked confused about the dishes coming out and her facial expressions showed she was clearly overwhelmed YET was recording and taking pictures of food dishes for social media. The wait time to get our food a bit longer than what I would expect even for a Friday night. It would have been nice if the restaurant served bread or brought out our Yucca appetizer while we waited for our food. All our dishes came out at different times and starter came out with two main dishes. My dish seco frejoles was tasty, but my white rice was a slight bit undercooked. My brother, who is an amazing chef ordered a ceviche mixto and his feedback was it's just "Ok" fish needed more time in the lime juice. My nephew ordered lomo saltado and he enjoyed his dish very much. My sister had Milanesa de pollo with tallarin verde and the tallarin was flavorful, but her milanesa was hard. My father had bistec and tallerin Verde and his dish was delicious. I gave restaurant two stars because although it was a nice location, good decor and upbeat music. Very disappointed with this restaurant. The service was terrible today and we have been here several times before and its never been this bad. It took a while for a server to come take our order, but he was very polite. Then our food was in for about maybe 35minutes or so and the server came to inform us that my mother's plate was going to take much longer. We came upon Bodegon upon raving recommendations from a friend who dined here twice in two weeks. The vibe is a little more "upscale Peruvian" but still casual enough where you don't have to wear your heels or try too hard. We were lucky to get seated without a reservation on a Friday night but I think its better to make one to be safe as they are busy. The food was really delicious and I loved their lomo de Moriscos and empanadas. Service from the manager was friendly but the young waitress needs training as she was forgetful and left our dirty appetizer dishes on the table during the main course and brought us a fork with a large piece of old food stuck on it. Also she does not speak Spanish so she was a confused when we tried to order in Spanish since its a Peruvian restaurant. Now the food...my husband ordered the lomo montado with steak which was excellent. The steak was very very tender and juicy, the steak fries and rice were perfectly cooked (we swapped plates back and forth lol). I ordered the tallarin with chicken and shrimp which was AMAZING! The service of this place is very good, the waiters know what they're doing, they know what is most popular and what the good stuff are. The ambiance of this place is wonderful, there are wonderful Peruvian aspects in the restaurant and they have good music. The service was very well because of the way they brought our food in under very fast which is respectable. The food has so many good flavors like the good amount of lemon, juice of the meat, and the textures of the food. The food takes me back to when I was little entering our tias house and having her famous platano frito.
