There's a takeout window in addition to a sitdown, full service restaurant. Indoor and outdoor seating. We placed our order over the phone and they were timely with having the order ready, which was important since we were in a time crunch. Friendly staff! I split the two meat combo with my wife for lunch. It was a good amount, leaving neither of us overstuffed for our long drive up to McCall thereafter. It would've been enough for just me in other circumstances, though. We went with the ribs and the tri tip for meat. It comes with garlic bread and two sides as well. I was a little sad that they didn't have brisket. If anything I would just suggest a little more variety added to the menu. The portion of the pulled pork for the pulled pork bbq plate was very generous- definitely enough to be filling along with the sides. .75 upcharge for premium sides, which is not crazily unreasonable. I stand by my previous two reviews - Bodacious serves some of the most underrated burgers in the entire Treasure Valley! Once again, I was blown away by how delicious and clean their food is. On a recent visit my husband and I re-ordered two burgers I've raved about in the past and also which remain my favorite burgers in the area: the stupendous Oink Oink Burger (ground brisket & sirloin blend, with cheddar cheese, BBQ sauce, tender pulled pork and creamy coleslaw, served on a freshly baked brioche bun, $14.99) and the almighty Brunch Burger (ground brisket & sirloin blend, with mayonnaise, cheddar cheese, 2 pieces of bacon, an egg over easy, topped with Lay's potato chips, served on a freshly baked brioche bun, $14.99). I'm sitting here drooling just thinking about these two sandwiches. I decided the mix things up a little bit and ordered a side a Max & Cheese instead of their amazing fries. Holy wowowowza. I have heard this place is great!! So My wife said surprise me for dinner while you're out. So I did and stopped at the take out window. Ordered and it was done in less than 5 min Which was great!! Ordered the two item meat Tri-tip chicken. Sides of potato salad. Arrived home and opened the container. First thought was is this a joke For $23? Five very thin and small slices of tri-tip and a chicken leg and thigh which was under cooked with no flavor. Tri tip was good but portion was ridiculous. Potatoe salad was ok. I finally got to go! I think the service was good and I really wanted one of their shirts. The food is pretty good. Nothing to really rave about. I loved the coleslaw. The BBQ sauce was good. I don't think I was too thrilled about the desert. We had this croissant custard. It wasn't as exciting as it sounded. I had a couple of bites and that was it. I did not like the beans. After spending close to $100, I was severely disappointed in this meal. This was the second chance meal here, I'd already had 1 bad meal, this was the second and last opportunity. The ribs were flavorless and tough, the tri tip was chewy and tough. The macaroni and cheese was flavorless and flat, the only food item I brought home that was edible was the potato salad. Sauce tasted store bought, like it came out of a plastic gallon jug labeled Kraft. We're done here. No more, I'm out a couple hundred dollars now of the combined 2 visits and most of the food went in the trash. read more

I think it only took about 10 minutes till my order was ready and you could tell their takeout is busy. The presentation for takeout was fine. Was a little shocked I wasn't given plastic ware since I had 3 sides. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich pig style. I was expecting big flavor and I just felt it was bland. Some of the meat was inedible (too-tough) and part of the garlic toast was too hard to eat. The sauce was good. I also ordered Mac n cheese, coleslaw and potato salad. Stopped by on a trip to visit family and I was very happy with Bodacious Pig. The tri-tip was amazing, fork tender and juicy. The ribs where good and the sausage had a nice flavor. Almost like a polish sausage. I was a little upset that the kids mac and cheese had meat in it. I didn't see that in the description and my kid doesn't eat pork. The best was the bbq sauce. The food is amazing, the servers are friendly. They would get 5 stars except... The seating sucks. If you are a large fat guy like me, there's only 5 tables I can sit at. Although the booths are a good size length wise, the space to sit does not allow me to fit. The two tables they have in the middle, the high tables, are extremely uncomfortable to sit in. I'm not 10 years old, I don't sit in high chairs. Tonight we had to order to go. Even though there were tables open, none of them could accommodate me. And the last time we did sit at the booth, I had to sit on a chair in the walkway, like an outcast. Since we took it to go, that meant no drinks and I had to change my usual order because it wouldn't have been good by the time we got home. If this place has better seating, they would have gotten twice the bill out of us. Get rid of the two tall tables, and make your booths expandable, please! read more

This barbecue is incredibly good. I was impressed with the brisket, the side selections and the service. It wasn't that busy either (very surprised by that). The meat was so good you didn't need sauce (although I'd recommend trying both). The fries were fresh and the coleslaw was light and flavorful. Can't wait to go back (actually taking one of my employees there Wednesday of this week, mouth already watering)! Delicious! I was surprised because I love ribs and brisket but have to say my favorite met on the menu is their chicken. And you have to get there early or it will all be gone. The quality and amount of food has been excellent every time I've been. Which is at least 20 times over the years. A few times the service was slow and not as friendly as we'd like, but I'm giving them some grace and understanding as it's been a hard couple of years for most of us. These guys are great for takeout and parties. We used them for a team of hungry teenagers and it was a huge hit. The atmosphere is small town charming. The booths are a big plus. They feel cozy and relatively private. Which is nice when your licking your fingers and noticing the big glob of bbq sauce on your top! read more

They do one thing well. They will consistently screw up an order, forget an order, or get the timing so wrong your lunch order becomes a dinner order. I ordered two appetizers and a pulled pork sandwich for takeout. They said come. Y in 10 to 15 minutes. I was there in 10, paid for it at the window and they lost it. 50 minutes later I go to the window after 4 people pick up their orders after me. They lost it. The cashier didn't even remember me or that i paid him. There were 4 people there, so clearly not under staffed. I waited 5 more minutes after they restarted the order. All I got for my time and patience was "oops" and "sorry man". This is t customer value or customer courtesy. Hell they could have given me a free soda at least. Management has to turn this around. I'm not going back and telling others not to as well. read more

Pulled pork nachos to start: YUM! I went with the Bodacious Burger. I wasn't holding my breath (who really gets the burger at a BBQ joint?!)... but O...M...G. One bite, and I had no regrets. It was incredible. The waitress brought out some ketchup and mustard, but I didn't use them. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is the kid's chicken (tenders? fingers? Can't remember what they call them...) was really dry. It had a tasty-looking coating. But they were bone dry. We also waited for quite a while for food, drinks, and the check. Picked up takeout here recently during covid . We enjoyed the sides of coleslaw, beans, sweet Potato fries and Mac and cheese. The bread that came with it was okay. The tri tip and pulled pork was pretty dry unfortunately. Overall it was a good experience but left a bit to be desired. We'll give it another shot. read more

I am not a BBQ connoisseur. I don't know Texas style from Carolina style from... Kansas style (is that a thing?). All I know is what I enjoy eating and when I want seconds. I wanted seconds at Bodacious Pig! From the outside, this place doesn't look like much There is a to-go order window, the colors are drab and the sign is on a separate building in the back. They do have a cute patio which would be fun in the summer. I was pleasantly surprised by the interior. It was warm, clean and even a touch classy! The walls have great stone work and the ceiling is beautifully paneled. They even have chandeliers! There are a few large booths, some high top tables and booth/chair tables. Everything looked accessible to me. We each ordered beers (lots of good local options, like White Dog, Payette, Mad Swede and Mother Earth!) and waited about 7 minutes for our food. I had the pulled pork bbq plate with coleslaw and beans. My hubs had a caesar salad and chicken wings. We were both impressed with our meals. My pork was tender and served with a vinegary sauce that was absolutely perfect. I mixed bites with their housemade bbq sauce and scoops of coleslaw and I was happy. I will say the coleslaw was not special at all. Swimming in mayo and no special flavors or surprises. But certainly passable for rounding out your pulled pork. The beans were really delicious. Quite a lot of cumin flavor and a touch of spice. They were the perfect texture. As a side note, it was served with garlic bread from Gastons...probably my favorite part of the meal. #BreadLife The caesar salad was nicely dressed and crisp, though nothing special. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his wings. He said they had a bit of spice but the smoked flavor came through nicely. I hate wings so I didn't try them. Y'all will have to take his word on it. :) We ordered the bread pudding to go, because #BreadLife. It was very dense and probably weighed 2 lbs! I warmed it up a bit at home, and while I still ate every bite, I wouldn't order it again. I think it was trying to be almond flavor, but it fell flat. The icing was a simple powdered sugar glaze and it did not contribute anything to the dessert. Way too sweet and overpowering. Overall, I think it was a lovely BBQ joint, local, small and passionate about their craft. I will definitely be back with my meat-loving FIL! read more

Since my last review I have eaten here at least 100 times! That's not an exaggeration! Lol. I can show you my bank statement to prove it! Seriously though, I have never been disappointed with my meal here or the service! Every single time it is top notch! My daughter & her wife visited from California and also fell in love with "the pig". As part of their Christmas gifts we even sent them bottles of their bbq sauce so they can attempt to recreate the pulled pork nachos! The owner, Joel, is always super friendly and accommodating. His wife is also such a sweetheart and an absolute rockstar! This is a place worth eating at! Oh...and if you happen to go for lunch and you are able to get the sloppy joe....get it!!! Finally!! Some decent BBQ in town! I've been here a few times during lunch, and every time I'm impressed!! I got the pulled pork sandwich in Carolina style, and my BF got the oink oink burger the first time we came. We loved it so much! We are getting the same thing every time now. I know we need to be more adventurous and try other things on the menu, but this shows how consistent their food tastes!! And their service is great - pretty fast even during lunch hours. They have a fairly small drink menu. BUT they have some good selection of craft beer so I don't feel like I'm missing anything here. Overall it's a wonderful place!! Went here due to the overwhelming good reviews. Service was slow bit helpful when around. I ordered a "starter" of stuffed potato skins, which were supposed to have pulled pork. The waitress informed us that there was no more pulled pork, literally the signature dish of the company, and it was only 6pm on a Friday....?! The skins came with barely any shredded chicken and a huge dollop of sour cream. Only 2 pieces to share and pretty bland. The whole table ordered ribs and tri tip due to the lack of pulled pork. The ribs were very tough and not very flavorful, with not a lot of meat. One guest at the table attempted to eat 1 of the ribs and asked to return the plate but was only offered 50% off. We don't return meals often, so I was surprised at not having it comped, out of 5 meals and 4 kids meals. If it weren't for the decent bbq sauce, this place would have been unbearable. The only thing I can think of fkr all the good reviews is that idahoans don't know what good bbq is, or we came on an off day. read more
