Nachos
Taylor W.

I was in Boise visiting my brother (go Broncos!), and my mom stops by R&R BBQ every time she comes up here. We went about an hour before closing, and I was very impressed with how quickly our food was ready. The person at the front was very nice and answered all our questions. I wasn't in the mood for BBQ, so I ordered their buffalo wings. I also tried their mac and cheese which I unfortunately felt it lacked flavor, it was very bland. The wings however were great. My sister had an order of their brisket nachos that tasted very good. When I come back I'll have to try their BBQ. My mom had brisket and a few other meats that looked very good. She also raves about one of their sauces, she says its the perfect amount of sweetness and smokey. Looking forward to coming back and trying more of their menu.

Pineapple Pork Sandwich with Fried Pickles

For true barbecue enthusiasts, I can't recommend this place. Brisket too dry to eat is a major red flag. Honestly, the pulled pork in both of our meals was pretty good. But the sauces on the table were just off. And the sides weren't great. My fried pickles were so salty I couldn't eat them (and I love me some salt!). And my hubby's garlic mashed potatoes had absolutely no garlic flavor. The gravy was ok though. And we ordered beers. By the time we were finished with our food we still didn't have beers. Apparently the draft lines were not working (which they only figured out after we placed our order) and they spent the entire time we were there trying to get them working. They did offer us their canned cocktails and canned beer, but we had already finished our food and just wanted to leave. I now question a BBQ joint that is on the 2nd floor of a downtown parking garage. Really, where are they truly "smoking" their meats?? Won't be back and wouldn't recommend.

$40 bucks for 2 and we had a 3 meat platter with brisket!

Good bbq for a reasonable price. There were 2 of us and the smell brought us in. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean and there was plenty of room to find a good spot.

You can literally smell this place from blocks away! Smells amazinnng! Tons of options. Had a hard time choosing. Ended up going with the recommendation of the cashier. Potion was huge! Definitely filled me up! I will say, the brisket was pretty tough. The bbq sauce helped although the sauce was super sweet! Next time I'd opt for sauce on the side.

That's a lot of fat and a third of the meat on the brisket baked potato.

My initial complaint was regarding the brisket they put on their baked potato and it should've been the chopped brisket not the extremely fatty pieces they put on. The owner contacted me to clarify what brisket and chopped brisket are which, OK sure, maybe I have no idea what the difference is because I was born yesterday. Except I wasn't and I've ordered that dish multiple times from them and the quality has suffered. The last two times I purchased from them it was terrible the first several times it was excellent. Blaming the lack of quality of a dish on a customers misunderstanding of what they're ordering is poor taste.

We did a DoorDash order for their brisket nachos and I gotta say the nachos were delicious. Plenty of brisket on it plus sour cream and tomatoes and nice crunchy, salty tortilla chips. The queso sauce was delicious and I appreciate that they didn't put them on the chips because that would make it soggy by the time it was delivered to us.

Very solid food and service and an informal ambiance that I enjoyed. I was most impressed by the brisket, however the pork was juicy and delicious as well. The staff was also friendly and were flexible when I made a last minute switch to a side in my order that they had every reason not to accommodate me but they did anyways.

This place is very mediocre. The food isn't bad, but it isn't great. It does the job that you want it to do. The ribs are dry rub and were pretty decent. The brisket was tender. The turkey was just turkey. Didn't taste smoked at all. The hush puppies were very plain tasting. They needed something to add flavor to them. Butter, BBQ sauce. Something. The Mac and cheese was absolutely horrible. Had absolutely no seasons to it. It needed at a minimum salt and pepper. The cheese itself was dry and the cheese on top was just dry also. Not a good crunch. The spicy bbq sauce had a nice little kick to it. The sweet tea was actually really good. Would I eat here again? Maybe. It wouldn't be something that I'd recommend to the group.

Born and raised in Greensboro, NC! when i say that this extremely overpriced food has ZERO Carolina Flare, the hushpuppies were bunt hard as dirt and had jalapeño i don't know why! The carolina bbq sauce is what drew me in and offended me the most. Never should they be SPICEY! The chicken *chunks* were pure fat and not good at all. The pork w salt added was fine, as was the brisket. The iced tea was the star of that nearly $30 dinner for ONE! sadly, the restaurant was completely empty at 6 pm, and now I see why. Typing the word Carolina and pulling it off are totally different things!

2 meat - brisket (moist) and pulled pork
Vince H.

I always say the best part of BBQ is the sides - and this photo is the epitome of that! We got here about 45 min before close and not only was the staff friendly as ever, the food was still fresh and fantastic! Brisket: small chunks, you can order moist or not and I ordered moist and it was just that! Great flavor and very tender. Pulled Pork: not too bad, pretty moist and good peppery flavor. Preferred the brisket to this Mac & cheese was simple, but good. The noodles were firm and cheese was great. Fries: great - a crisp beeer battered type fry that was great Baked beans and cole slaw were both fantastic!

He was very informative about where to go and places to check out in Boise. I ordered one of the local beers and their flagship meal, the Santa Maria Tri Tip Sandwich. As you can see by looking at the photos, the tri-tip was cooked to perfection. It had tomatoes, poblano, and chimichurri sauce on it to add to the flavors of the tri-tip. The bread consistency was great, not too soggy, and with a great crispy texture. I wish they had spread the tri-tip out more to make sure every bite was being celebrated. I also ordered the mac and cheese as the side per the instructions of the bartender, James. Let me say that was one of the best mac and cheeses that I have ever had. Truly amazing creamy texture and full of rich flavor. Everything melted in your mouth. Definitely worth it. I eventually ended up talking to a fellow bar sitter, and he ended up being the co-owner of the place, TJ. He also filled me in on the places to go and, most definitely, the places to travel to, to experience great beer. He was refreshing to talk to since most people don't have the passion for beer that we both represent. I would highly recommend this place for the staff that is there the solid pub style restaurant that they have created. Super easy and relaxed kinda of place.

I placed a to go order and had a nice chat with the bartender while I waited. I got the pickled eggs which were just OK. We were hoping that it would have a more intense pickled flavor than it did. I also ordered the frito pie. The chili was dry and there weren't many Fritos with it. No cheese either. We got the Philly style chopped tri tip sandwich. The bread and meat were dry. The redeeming dish was the Mac and cheese. It was amazing!

The two servers behind the counter are completely discombobulated. And, one of the employees just touched the inside of my sanitized to-go container with their bare hands after being out on the floor, touching dirty dishes, handling the dirty cash register, touching other surfaces. and everything else. The other server seems to be completely lost and staring off of the distance wiping counters while there's orders pending. My order. She really doesn't seem to be able to focus very well and know what to do. For example, there are plates of food sitting on the prep table, ready to go out and she walks over and looks at my ticket and then just stands there and wipes the counter. My to go order would literally take probably 30 seconds to put it into a container, weigh, and hand it to me, but she just won't do it. And, the other patron's food is getting cold. It seems like the guy that's on duty is the brains of the operation and he's doing all the work. I get out to my truck and the burnt ends feel really light in contrast to my brisket order. I ordered a half a pound of burnt ends, and 1/3 of a pound of brisket. Something isn't right. I take the burnt ends back in and show the guy that was at the register when I came in, he agreed something went wrong. It looked like a third of a pound, but I would argue that it wasn't even a third. By the way, this was prepared by the girl working that was daydreaming. He then made it right and handed back my tray, which I was grateful. He was apologetic and he took care of it well. Just to be clear, he did not give me more than half a pound but he made it right. And then went to go pick up a plastic fork, that's usually over in a cup on the counter, but there were none. So I had to get their attention quickly and ask for a fork and they pulled one up from behind the counter, after I was told they were over by the beverage machine. They both seem surprised that there were none up there ready to go. The food as usual was delicious. This is the sad part. The service is all over the map and completely in need of some serious management and restructure. I realize that it's very difficult to get good help these days, but this is a training issue. I can't go back in now knowing that the last 3 to 5 times I've gone in there. I've always had a problem with service. If the food was piping hot when it arrived, I might not be so bothered, but this lack of efficiency causes the food to be delivered cold. That's not my definition of a good experience. If you have a lot of time on your hands, and you don't mind waiting, and you don't mind your food warm instead of hot, then I would say venture out and try this place because the flavor and textures are good. Just set your expectations accordingly. The atmosphere is comfortable and rustic. A little loud because of the openness, no booths, just tables and chairs with 1/2 booth. Lots of self service going on here so be careful before you tip at the register. By the way, I chose not to tip at the time of payment when I walked in because I don't like tipping in advance of receiving the service. The purpose of the gratuity is to compensate your server based on the service they delivered, not will deliver or should deliver. Or in this case didn't deliver. I realize that not tipping on the front end gives the employees a chance to retaliate with poor service because you didn't tip. Oh how the times have changed.
