Mac -n- Cheese and Baked Beans with brisket

We were craving some BBQ so we did some research online and found this place! One cool thing about this restaurant is that it's a drive thru bbq. We ordered at a drive thru and it took them less than 10 minutes to make our food. The staff were super nice and ambiance felt like a modern bbq joint. We got the half pound of brisket, half pound of pulled pork, half rack of pork ribs, Mac n cheese, beans with brisket and we also got pickled onions and pickle. The food was great. I really liked their Mac n cheese as well as brisket. The sauces they provided us with were also great. The ribs were on the dry side but we added some sauce to it which helped add moisture to it. It's a great place for some bbq!

Overall experience: 3.8 In Boise again to watch our daughter play in a Volleyball tournament. After day 1, her team decided to head towards The Warehouse Food Hall, so we tagged along and wife wanted bbq, so Neighbor Tim's BBQ. Ordered the three meat plate with 2 sides: Brisket x2 and Pulled Pork with potato salad and baked bean; OH I added two buns which I thought (at least one) came with the plate. Food served like cafeteria style, they push your food tray down until you pay. So it didn't take long to get our food. After finding a table the brisket looked dry, but the pulled pork was dripping moist (it's great by itself but their sweet sauce enhances the flavor of the pork)! The beans and potato salad was good but really nothing special. I ended taking the brisket back to the hotel with one bun hoping it would taste better in the morning. And it was! With a little help from the microwave (released the juices) and toasting the bun, I had a delicious brisket sandwich for breakfast! FYI: This what increased my overall experience. If we're going back to the Warehouse, it won't be for the bbq.

Found this great little bbq restaurant on Yelp. Service and food was very good. Great take out service.

Very disappointed. I ordered the advertised family meal expecting enough food to actually feed a family. Unfortunately, the portions for the sides were shockingly small. When I asked about it, the employee told me they "weigh everything out." Once I got home, I weighed the sides myself, and as I suspected, they were under what was advertised. For a place that promotes family meals, this was really disappointing. The value just isn't there when you pay for a family-sized portion but receive containers that are barely enough for one person. Transparency and fairness matter, and this experience left me feeling misled.

Good first experience at Neighbor Tim's using the drive through. I mentioned that I hadn't eaten yet today, and Chris hooked me up with a nice sample of smoked turkey slices. So nice! I ordered the smoked turkey sandwich with all the fixings. I added my own barbecue sauce when I got home and it was delicious.

I was so excited to try takeout from Neighbor Tim's BBQ and really wanted to love this place based on the great Yelp reviews. The location is cute and the crew is absolutely outstanding. They are friendly and definitely go the extra mile. Seriously, they are the best customer service I've seen in a long time (5 star service). Unfortunately, I was disappointed in the ribs because they were super dry (2 star). The various sauces were tasty, but they couldn't compensate for the dry meat. The potato salad with the burnt ends was the best item even with the distinct vinegar flavor. The coleslaw was average at best. The lemon bar was super sweet and didn't really have much of a lemon flavor. I really hope I just ordered from them on an off day. The crew was kind enough to tell me to always order directly with them by calling their phone number or going directly to their website www.neighbortimsbbq.com

Chopped brisket sandwich, burnt ends, and potato salad.

I had the chopped brisket sandwich, burnt ends, and potato salad. Everything was full of flavor and the meat was smoked to perfection. The brisket was tender, the burnt ends had the perfect bark, and the potato salad was fresh. The staff was super friendly, and I got to meet the owner, Tim. He was very welcoming and clearly passionate about his barbecue spot. Great BBQ place--I'll definitely be back!

I just ordered ribs, pulled pork for delivery. What I received was horrible ribs (burnt with no meat), pulled pork was all fat. Worst I've ever had.

Bogus Basin Ski Patrol 2024/25 Award Banquet @ Veteran's Park, Garden City, ID!

Neighbor Tim's BBQ did an amazing job catering our (Bogus Basin Ski Patrol) banquet! The Texas Brisket was amazing, crowd favorite! The Carolina Pulled Pork, tender and juicy! Our sides, Mac n Cheese, Baked, Beans, and Coleslaw rounded out the perfect meal for 80 hungry patrollers ending the season on a high note! Tim was so great to work with; responsive with follow ups, available to answer questions, delivery and set up! I highly recommend visiting Neighbor Tim's BBQ, for your lunch, family, or banquet feast! Keeping it local and keeping it community!!! Thank you, Tim and Chris!!!

Simply the best. Great food, great owner, great crew. I've been here quite a few times and even had Tim cater our thanksgiving last year. I try something different every time and have never been disappointed. Support local business and go here.

Great authentic bbq and probably the best you'll find in Boise! My husband admired their excellent smoke ring on the brisket. Very friendly staff and nice outside seating area. They mentioned they might stop selling beef ribs due to lack of popularity, so everyone go get some so they can stay on the menu!! Weekends only!

I've had takeout from here on many occasions and it's always good. Chose the pulled pork sandwich, Carolina style, which was delicious. Soft, good roll. Fresh coleslaw, and lots of pork. Great overall sandwich. My side of choice was the sweet potato fries. Decent portion and yummy, fried well, fries. Would repeat. Just next time with a beer :-)

We tried a mix of meats, and there was plenty to like. The pulled pork stood out as the best of the bunch--tender, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for from good BBQ. The spicy BBQ sauce was a highlight too: it's got a real kick--hot in a fun, nostalgic way, like a high school pool party where things get a little wild but in the best sense. The tri-tip was decent, though it leaned a bit young and could've benefited from a touch more time or seasoning to really shine. The chicken was cooked nicely--juicy and not overdone--but felt like it needed a little extra smoky pizzazz to stand out. On the plus side, the buns were excellent across the board, soft but sturdy enough to hold everything together without falling apart. Service was top-notch--friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience easy and enjoyable. Overall, a really pleasant lunch spot with some strong offerings and a great atmosphere. I'd say it would absolutely earn a nod of approval from my  St. Louis BBQ grandpa and his crew from Wells-Goodfellow--satisfying, honest barbecue with a few standout bites and a good time to go with it.

The two servers behind the counter are completely discombobulated. And, one of the employees just touched the inside of my sanitized to-go container with their bare hands after being out on the floor, touching dirty dishes, handling the dirty cash register, touching other surfaces. and everything else. The other server seems to be completely lost and staring off of the distance wiping counters while there's orders pending. My order. She really doesn't seem to be able to focus very well and know what to do. For example, there are plates of food sitting on the prep table, ready to go out and she walks over and looks at my ticket and then just stands there and wipes the counter. My to go order would literally take probably 30 seconds to put it into a container, weigh, and hand it to me, but she just won't do it. And, the other patron's food is getting cold. It seems like the guy that's on duty is the brains of the operation and he's doing all the work. I get out to my truck and the burnt ends feel really light in contrast to my brisket order. I ordered a half a pound of burnt ends, and 1/3 of a pound of brisket. Something isn't right. I take the burnt ends back in and show the guy that was at the register when I came in, he agreed something went wrong. It looked like a third of a pound, but I would argue that it wasn't even a third. By the way, this was prepared by the girl working that was daydreaming. He then made it right and handed back my tray, which I was grateful. He was apologetic and he took care of it well. Just to be clear, he did not give me more than half a pound but he made it right. And then went to go pick up a plastic fork, that's usually over in a cup on the counter, but there were none. So I had to get their attention quickly and ask for a fork and they pulled one up from behind the counter, after I was told they were over by the beverage machine. They both seem surprised that there were none up there ready to go. The food as usual was delicious. This is the sad part. The service is all over the map and completely in need of some serious management and restructure. I realize that it's very difficult to get good help these days, but this is a training issue. I can't go back in now knowing that the last 3 to 5 times I've gone in there. I've always had a problem with service. If the food was piping hot when it arrived, I might not be so bothered, but this lack of efficiency causes the food to be delivered cold. That's not my definition of a good experience. If you have a lot of time on your hands, and you don't mind waiting, and you don't mind your food warm instead of hot, then I would say venture out and try this place because the flavor and textures are good. Just set your expectations accordingly. The atmosphere is comfortable and rustic. A little loud because of the openness, no booths, just tables and chairs with 1/2 booth. Lots of self service going on here so be careful before you tip at the register. By the way, I chose not to tip at the time of payment when I walked in because I don't like tipping in advance of receiving the service. The purpose of the gratuity is to compensate your server based on the service they delivered, not will deliver or should deliver. Or in this case didn't deliver. I realize that not tipping on the front end gives the employees a chance to retaliate with poor service because you didn't tip. Oh how the times have changed.

The signage is fine but difficult to track down when it's dark. Once we arrived around 7 we noticed it wasn't very busy inside but were instantly greeted by someone. We decided on trying the chicken and rib plate, as well as share a side of the Mac salad. Each plate came with brown rice and a cup of chili with a few upgraded side options. Honorable mention that this establishment has coke products. Initial thought was how huge the portions were! We got around 3 ribs and a quarter of a chicken. What I'm happy to report on is that this food has character. The chicken was very well seasoned and cooked with just enough crispiness on the outside and juiciness on the inside. The same could be said about the ribs, great execution on the rub. Chili was also an incredible side including bacon and tasted like actual homemade chili with a great flavor profile. A lot of chicken places have been opening up in the valley and this place truly stands out. Most places are too scared to season their chicken but this place has an identity and expresses it through their chicken and BBQ which I need to highlight. Overall experience was 5/5. Ambiance was very calm and laid back, good music. The team there was friendly, approachable and personable and the food was next level compared to most places in the valley. I would return there in a heartbeat and fully plan on bringing family back with us, I highly recommend you try this place if you enjoy great BBQ.
