We ordered for an apatizer potatoe wedges, which were good, not a bad app. Price and amount were spot on. Ordered the swine, big daddy, and then 1 meat platter of brisket....always pay more for the brisket! My wife loved the swine! The Mac n cheese with I think brisket in it was money! It got two thumbs up from both of us! The kids got the brisket and side of fry's and mac n cheese. They loved the brisket and so did we! Soft tender and flavorful. Also they couldn't get enough of the Mac n cheese. I got the. Big daddy, it came with a spicy cheddar dog and pulled pork on top. I will probably try something else next time because we will be coming back. Pulled pork I'm not sure if it was supposed to have the person eating put bbq sauce on it but it didn't have too much flavor to it so maybe it was just an off day? My daughter and Graddaughter and I were REALLY hungry and desperate for someplace to eart after we found our first choice closed. Big Daddy's was just down the road. We called ahead from the car to make sure there were some Gluten Free options for me. The menu was GREAT. All my favorites AND the waitstaff assured me there were Gluten free protocols in place so it was safe for me. Excellent. Our server, Emily B. was the bomb. A level of professionalism seldom seen in many restaurants these days. Really very helpful an reassuring as to the gluten thing. The "kids" split a ampler tray. I had a two meat plate. Everything was very good to excellent. I had pulled pork and Jalapeno sausage. Very good and plenty of it. We all had left-overs to take home. My coleslaw was great, but the garlic mashed taters were a bit marginal: A little gluey and needed more garlic. Ambience? Too hungry to look around much, but OK. Inside out: has parking and accessible entry. The inside is decorated in a down to earth country vibe. When he went, it was a little bit earlier in the day so it wasn't that crowded or loud, I was with a group of older adults up to 93 and they all liked the decorations. Service: genuinely fast and friendly, no complaints. Food: our family got a variety of meats, ribs, and as the veggie of the group, I simply got a baked potato. The baked potato was delicious. I would highly recommend, as having a variety of baked potatoes in many joints - for that's all often all I can get. I can say that this is probably in the top three for potatoes. The barbecue sauces were delicious! Overall: it was a great place for a family dinner and a larger group, the prices seemed pretty reasonable. Maybe the higher end of reasonable but still good. Meh. The cornbread sucks. The servers try to rush you out and. We had 10 people! When you have that many people nothing moves quickly. It took an hour to get the food which was expected because of the size of our group. But what was unexpected was the waitress rushing us to pay before anyone was even halfway done with our meals. I just want to say that everyone in the restaurant was very friendly. Our server Frank was amazing, he was attentive and was able to talk. The food though, left some to be had. I had order the two Meats and two sides. The meats were Tri tip and smoked turkey. The Tri tip was dry and rough. I felt like the turkey was put through a slicer, so it made me question how it was made. The turkey was pretty good though. Very moist. The loaded garlic mashed was delicious along with the biscuits. We had the Tri-Tip sandwich with fries, the Tri-Tip was so dry almost like leather, the fries were over cooked to a statue of burnt. We also got the Prime Rib Dip which was decent but the Au Jus was so salty my wife couldn't enjoy it with the sandwich which I tried it and it was in agreement wife her on that. Not sure if this BBQ place will get another chance with us or not, it is nice they are near by and have good reviews but for our experience it was not great food or good. We had Big Daddy's cater a work party this weekend and they were amazing. So much food and wonderful service. Even when I thought they had forgotten to bring a side by my mistake, they were willing to come out and bring more food. I do wish I would have only gotten one of each side instead of two. After seeing all the positive reviews I was excited to try Big Daddy's. I don't know where they went but this was by far the worst dining experience I've ever had, not just in Boise, but anywhere. The server was rude and had absolutely no personality. Word of advice to her, if you're having a bad day, take a break and compose yourself. She never checked on us to see if we wanted refills or if we need anything. We went in at 3pm, so there was no rush and there were only 3 other tables with customers. The food was horrible. When trying a new place I always get something basic to see how well they do on something simple. I ordered the "plain Jane" burger. The burger defied the laws of physics by simultaneously being burnt on the outside and rare on the inside. It was dry and was more like beef jerky than a burger. The other issue I have is the hand held "Point of Sale" device. I do not like the server holding the device while I pay, add a tip, and give feedback. I'm sure it's easier for the restaurant, but it is annoying as a customer. If you're going to have a pay at the table feature, then invest in a device like the chain restaurants have. The only good things were the manager, who was very friendly, and the fact that everything was clean. If you've ever had BBQ in Texas or the south, avoid this place. WOW brisket you can cut with a fork!! So tender and juicy no need for sauce!!! Juicy flavorful pulled pork, and cheddar jalapeño sausage. Oh and a baked potato and onion rings. As I've mentioned in my other reviews, I do competition BBQ, so I'm a bit picky. First issue - atmosphere: Unfortunately, we went on a BSU game night and were seated directly under the big screen. The volume was so loud we had to yell to hear each other. When we asked to move, the waitress said it wasn't possible due to how the waitstaff was assigned. She did turn the TV down, but instead of blasting, it was just a dull roar. Second issue - food quality: I was excited to see Poutine on the menu--I love it. Sadly, it was made with frozen seasoned fries, which I can't stand. After two bites, I pushed the plate aside. One would think a full, untouched plate pushed to the edge of the table might catch the waitress's attention, but ours never noticed. My wife ordered the Idaho Nachos, which turned out to be the same fries, topped with canned nacho cheese, chopped brisket, diced tomatoes, onions, and canned jalapeños. She ate about half before giving up. Final issue - service: We saw our waitress only four times. Once at seating (when we asked to move), again to take our drink order, a third time when she brought our drinks and took our food order, and finally at the end to clear plates and run the card. Another server actually delivered our food. When we asked about their beer and wine options--something the menu specifically mentioned--the waitress pointed across the restaurant to a chalkboard and said she didn't know what was available. I asked if they had a cider, and thankfully she knew at least two they carried. Throughout the meal, there were no check-ins about the food or why my plate went untouched. My wife's empty glass sat for a long time before she was asked if she wanted another. Overall: The food was unimpressive, the service inattentive, and the constant noise from the big screen made conversation difficult. I'll give them some grace since they're newly opened and it was a game night, but even so, the place wasn't very busy. read more

The food was terrible. Meat greasy. Green beans cold and not so much as a granule of salt. Mac n cheese..... Worse than box. We waited over an hour. There were only 3 other tables with guests. BUYERS BEWARE!!! I went on their website at 5pm and made a delivery order only to find out that it would take well over 2 hours to get to me. I tried everything to either cancel this order or cancel the delivery so I could pick it up quicker, to no avail. We usually are in bed by 6-6:30 so my wife and I had fallin asleep but we werent worried because we gave delivery instructions to ring our doorbell. At 8pm we both woke up and I immediately called the restaurant. On an earlier conversation with one of their employees they oddly told me that during their peek dinner hours that they had no supervisor to handle complaints and that they left at 5pm. When I called at 8pm the owner answered. Was I deceived? Is the owner not a supervisor? The owner began to tell me how it was between us and Uber and not her concern. When I tried correcting her she interupted me twice. My wife heard every word. I yelled back and was repeatedly hung up on by the owner. Everytime I tried calling back she hung up before even a hello. Just a click and the line went dead. They have caller ID and are not afraid to use it on a customer that just spent $80.00 on a dinner that is past due and now ice-cold. I then took my ice cold food back to the restaurant, being the very first time that I had ever been in the restaurant. I met with the owner again, who repeatedly interrupted me and then she forced me out of her restaurant with no food, no service and no apology. During all of this I discovered that it could not possibly be our fault. First we dont have an uber account. We did not call Uber. They use an app called "Toast" that places the orders and schedules the delivery with Uber. The customer has no control. The Uber driver definately did not ring our doorbell but its the restaurants fault if they use and app that takes over two hours to fulfill orders with no way for the customer to alter or cancel the order. We do not have a Toast or Uber account. Conclusion: This owner/operator of BIG DADDY'S BARBECUE should never be put in charge of a lemonade stand much less a restaurant and those who know the owner will fully recognize how she repeatedly interrupts those she looks down her nose at, which is YOU!! read more

Really disappointing. First disappointment was menu. As this was my first visit, I wanted to try several of their BBQ offerings. So I was drawn to the three meat dinner. Great, except they don't offer any ribs and the chicken was limited to a smoked thigh. Disappointing but I opted for brisket (upcharge), sausage and pulled pork. For my two sides I chose fries and green beans. OK, where to start. The brisket (for which I paid extra) was so dry I could hardly choke it down. I doused it with spicy BBQ sauce. After a couple bites I concluded that I was simply ruining some decent sauce. The sausage were also over cooked with little flavor. The pulled pork was as dry as everything else. The beans were mushy and, like everything on the plate, over cooked. Finally the fries were clearly frozen and out of a bag. So disappointing. You expect some bugs from a new operation but that is usually service or timing. It does not bode well when the product coming out of the kitchen is simply sub-par. read more

We went on opening night and last night, again. Both times were amazing, friendly staff, great food, and good selection! I got the pulled pork sandwich with their Parmesan fries and my fiancé got their meat plate with brisket. So good! It was super spacious inside and they had plenty of tables. Appeared that they were really prioritizing cleaning and wiping everything down despite how busy they were. Will definitely be making this a frequent stop for us. I've eaten at Big Daddy's in Meridian for at least 10 years, so I was happy to see they opened a restaurant in Boise. Food was great - just like the Meridian location. I got the wings (best in the valley) and the tri-tip sandwich. Very tasty! The only little thing I would add is that they should put a roll of paper towels at each table like their Meridian location. We called before we arrived to make sure they had a TV so we could watch the game and Adam answered the phone so nicely and yep, they have a bunch of TVs and all the games were on! Food is fantastic! We ordered garlic Parmesan wings and they were meaty and steaming hot. Crispy and juicy, too. We also ordered a brisket sandwich with fries, and a one meat platter with brisket, green beans, and mashed potatoes. Everything was hot and incredibly smokey and flavorful. For dessert we got the bread pudding. They were out of the bourbon caramel sauce but it really didn't need it. We will be coming back to try it again with the caramel sauce! Our service was even better than the food!Adam was our server and he's beyond invested. We thought he was the owner! Jewels was running food, literally. She was making every effort to get everyone's food out to them while it was hot and fresh! Definitely a great team. We never saw anyone standing around, if they weren't taking orders they were busy bussing tables or running food.
