And I'm also a bit of a salsa snob. We stopped in for happy hour for the first time and started with the FREE salsa -- which, apparently, isn't always a given in Boise. It was legitimately some of the best salsa I've ever had. Then we ordered the Grande Nachos with chicken. "Grande" is not false advertising. The portion was enormous, we got completely full, and never even made it to trying anything else. I can count on three fingers the places, out of MANY attempts, where I've found truly great nachos -- and these get the #1 finger. And no, that's not the middle finger. Highly recommend everything we've had so far. We'll definitely be back to work our way through the rest of the menu. So far: winner for sure.

But then generic enchalada sauce, basic refried beans, and rice that was so dry there were crunchies - but not like the good, flavorful, caramelized paella crunchy. Asked the manager if they made the tomals because it was a way different beef flavor, and she insisted "yes." She was very disengaged, but at least I saw someone in the dining room cleaning the tables. Second meal was a pork tomal and lingua enchilada with beans and rice. Pork was better than the beef. There were a couple bites of the lingua that seemed... a little off, like it was old. Same beans, but at least the rice this time wasn't as dehydrated. The person attending the counter seemed to have an attitude and didn't feel like he wanted to be there. Never saw any of the tables wiped off in my 45 minutes there for lunch. So, street tacos - fantastic. Everything else so far, basic Mexican fare.

We came on a Saturday night and it was busy but not overly busy, which was nice. I started the evening with their regular house margarita, which was a bit too sour for my liking so our waitress suggested ordering a flavored margarita to add sweetness. I went out of the box and ordered their hibiscus margarita and WOW I'm coming back for more!! The chips were gold, house made, the yellow sauce was definitely good, would probably be great on fish tacos, but the medium red was what I preferred with chips. Lunch arrived with the obligatory "hot plate" warning meaning it had bern in the oven. As always, I started by trying the rice and beans, v both were good enough I nearly finished them before even trying the Chili Verde. What was interesting here was I wanted to use the larger than average sized corn tortillas to get every bit of the verde sauce off the plate! Something, we were too busy talking to tell, was different. I don't ever remember wanting to sop all the sauce up with the tortillas before!
