Best BBQ I've ever had. I was born in Memphis, lived all over the country, traveled most of the world, and here I've settled in Kuna with my family hopefully to retire soon. I've been fortunate to sample BBQ from everywhere (except the middle east) even competition award winners from Nashville to Texas to Kansas and then some. I can tell you without a doubt Big Mic has them all beat hands down. "Best BBQ west of the middle east!" the ribs, brisket, pork and chicken perfectly prepared with the exact chemistry of seasonings served warm and hardy. We've only gone for early weekday dinners and lunches in the afternoons following church service and most always have 3 grandkids along with us. Anytime we have out of town guests the best food they've ever eaten is always on the itinerary. We've never had to wait...I called ahead once because I had a large party and they said they didn't take reservations but when we arrived a table was reserved. Nice surprise. We've never been disappointed, never had to wait, and I'm so impressed I bought the employee hoodie and wear it proudly about town. Last Sunday we got a glimpse of Big Mic the man. Towering gentle man with a very long beard and covered in smokehouse debris. First impression is of a kind, soft spoken and gentle man dedicated to his craft. Absolutely disgusting place. Filthy table, the room smelled weird, and the food had no flavor. Silverware was dirty and everything seemed sticky. Once we sat down I didn't want to be rude and leave but I didn't feel very comfortable eating the food given how dirty just the dining room was. I can't imagine what the kitchen looks like. Who says you can't have negative reviews removed from Yelp? Hmmmm...I live in 2 places and have a house 1mile from here. So if I would rate this place on just a place to get drinks in Kuna, Idaho 3 star. Cleanliness and Ambiance maybe a 2.5 star based on the downtown historic location but at some point fix the broken window. Service definitely never above 2.5 stars. Now down to the food the BBQ if that is what you want to call it is definitely not my thing. I have tried to like it a few times but the food coming out in foil wrapped packages just is a huge turn off to me. Sorry the food is not good and for the prices no way! read more

Not very good at all. Burgers were burnt hockey pucks! Fries were burnt, fried pickles were saturated with oil. Super long wait time for the food. BBQ was dried out, I think the kids cooking didn't care. That food should've never left the kitchen! read more

*update - Big Mike called and apologized for our experience and offered to buy us a meal if we return. I called and made a reservation for a table for my best friend's birthday. The person on the phone was so kind and accommodating and seemed excited that we were coming from out of town and that it would be our first time there. I paid $20 to reserve our table because there was going to be a band playing that night. Our reservation was for 7pm. The band did not play until 9pm. I was under the impression that the band would be starting earlier since I had to pay for the table. We arrived and were not given a menu. We asked for menus from our waitress and she told us the food would take over an hour to be served. The way she said it implied that she did not want us to order food. I told her we would want to order sooner rather than later. She brought back one menu. We had to share that menu for a party of 6. She checked on us maybe every 30 mins throughout the night and every time she asked, "Are you still good?" As if she didn't want to do anything for us. We kept having to go up to the bar to order our drinks and ask for things. The food did take a very long time. It was mediocre and we were not given any condiments for our fries or BBQ meat. No BBQ sauce with dry meat. We asked the guy who brought us food for utensils and he told us we would have to go up to the bar to ask for them. The service was so awful. I was so excited to go after talking to the person on the phone when I made the reservation. It was so disappointing and we felt like they did not want us there at all. No disrespect against big mics but the "bar manager" should be let go immediately. Not only did she get into everyone's face when it was a party of twelve but she flipped us off and continued to argue with us and shove her finger in our face when we were just trying to pay our tab. BBQ has been a passion of mine as long as I remember. I've gone to countless BBQ festivals and judged in many. And when I say Big Mic'c is the real thing I mean it. Just walking from the parking lot to the saloon and restaurant you can see cords of wood stacked, ready to make that luscious BBQ. It's hard to say what's my favorite. The smoked shrimp appetizer is the bomb, big shrimp, smoked to a juicy tenderness with great flavor. The ribs are amazing. Having been a judge, I know the criteria for the perfect rib and have eaten ribs from top bbq'ers like Myron Mixon and Big Moe Cason. Big Mike's ribs are definitely up there, tender, with just enough pull to come off the bone cleanly. Great flavor from his rub. He gives BBQ sauce on the side but they don't even need it. These are a must get item. My favorite sandwich is the Meltdown. Big Mike does a unique thing, putting many of his sandwiches on bagels. This has grilled cheese, pulled pork, bacon and BBQ sauce. A close runner up is the Smoked Brisket, piled high with tender meat. If you look on some of the pieces you can see the smoke ring, the sign it's done over real wood. A quick shout out about the sides----the taters are smoked awesomeness and the chili is great. A full bar includes local beers on tap and some great cocktails. If you're inclined though and someone is there to do it, ask about getting a smoked whiskey. It will amaze you, watching them do it and tasting what results from the finished product. You can have it straight or in one of their cocktails such as a New Fashioned. Big Mic's has some really good live music on occasion too. It's just 15 minutes from Boise and we'll worth the drive for the best BBQ and smoked cocktails you're ever going to have. read more

Food was decent. Satisfying for being close when you are crazy bbq but I would go somewhere else if I didn't care about distance. That would have been a 4 star review. What really gets me was the bar tender and how we were treated. The guy came over to get our IDs and we let him know it was our friends birthday (free birthday shot!) and he just rolled his eyes and walked away. Because he was already working with us, none of the other bartenders came over. I had to flag someone down after waiting 20 minutes with nothing more than an ID check. I was overall really upset. I am contemplating giving a second chance but I was really disappointed with a first inside experience since we ordered from the food truck out back the first time. read more

This is a bar you can get food at not a restaurant, bringing a party with kids is a no, kid menus have a cocktail list on the back of it if you like waiting an hour plus for food then this place will be a great bar choice for you also be aware that everything even coming from the kids menu will have pepper on it and not a reasonable amount either. We made reservations for my daughters 30th birthday party. We had a party of 10 including 3 children. When we arrived, our table was not ready because they said they double booked the reservation. NO apology. From what I could see, they did not put a reserved sign on the table because there were 3 people sitting at our table. We were told to wait until the people left and then our party could sit together. They also didn't decorate the table like they told us they would. The manager acted like she didn't was our business and did not try to accommodate us in an alternative seating arrangement. It took us over 2 hours to get our food. The menu does not have prices. This is my first one star review ever. Being all over in the world going to the south to the Midwest to Texas to California I have had some of the best barbecue ever in my life. Unfortunately the barbecue wepurchased from here was so salty and almost sent me into a heart attack. I think when you're a restaurant or food truck or anything else you have to cook bake smoke grill for the public and not for your own personal interest. What one person might like can possibly kill another person. We had to throw away almost $100 a barbecue from here because it was so bad dry and tasted like you were licking a salt rock. If you really want to have a great experience of barbecue you need to try Mr. BBQ in Garden City. We do not know the owners we have no affiliation with them but they have a excellent balance of flavor and juice profile than anyone on the West Coast. read more

Things went bad at my house and dinner didn't get cooked tonight. My four starving children were chewing my leg off and my hard working husband was in desperate need of a beer. Big Mic's saved the day. We had some beautifully cold beers while takeout dinner was prepared. The coleslaw is so good and crunchy. Most coleslaw you get in a restaurant is sloppy and wilted but not Big Mic's slaw. The beans are sooooo freaking good that even the kid that will only eat cereal and pop tarts ate it. The smoked potatoes are magnificent. The ribs are freaking amazing. Now that everyone has full bellies the only complaint we got was that we didn't bring home desert. Thanks Big Mic's. read more

HORRIBLE PLACE, DO NOT GO HERE! We came in as a reservation for a big group which was no problem. Our friend comes to this place every week so we thought it would be a good place to go to! I ordered a patron and sprite in front of 10 people and I got charged for a double which I talked to the guy at the bar and he explained that my waiter wrote that down and that's what I got served. I said "well, that's not what I ordered but I understand". I paid for my bill and wrote "horrible service" on the receipt. Our group paid over $300 at this place total. The female bar manager came up to me in my face, 30mins after that and asked me why I wrote that and I explained and she just continued to bitch. She told me that my original server "has only been working here for two days just so you know". Which I totally understand if it was mistake that's why I paid the bill and didn't want to deal with it anymore but tell me why that's my problem. She was so close to my face all the men at my table stood up. After all that, she was bitching about us to another customer at the bar. So unprofessional! First time ordering from Big Mic's. Was underwhelmed with everything for the price. The potatoes (which were supposed to be tots) were very salty, dry and basically flavorless. The smoked chicken bagel sandwich was juicy but the chicken itself tasted like it was marinated in butane and smoked for far too long in my opinion. The bagel was dank though, so props on that! The sliders were ok, but bland and dry. The mac-n-cheese was decent but nothing to write home about. Overall, I can tell that they make an effort to make good food, but I personally wasn't a fan of anything other than its location... and the bagel, lol. read more
