Excellent food! Portions were large and quality great. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunches and have enough left for another meal (or two)!

We put our name on the list at 6:35 (party of 3) and was told 30-35 minute wait. After a little over an hour they finally called our name. Everyone around us had also been waiting way longer than they were told and the hostess was still telling everyone that came in that there was still only a 30-45 minute wait. Once seated, our waitress seemed busy but was friendly and very apologetic. I ordered a glass of wine that I could not drink and sent back because I started to have some sort of reaction to it - just a fluke I guess? While we waited on our food we saw another table get sat, order drinks and then wait so long to place their order that they told the waitress they were leaving. We asked the waitress to please check on our food and go ahead and bring to-go boxes when it came out - we had already been waiting an hour on food. Again she apologized and said they were shorthanded and thanked us for our patience. Our food finally came out at around 8:40/8:45. One of our dishes was lukewarm and the garlic knots felt almost like they came out of the refrigerator! As it was already so late we only took a few bites before we started boxing up our food to take home. The guy that brought the food out came back over and asked how everything was and we told him one dish was cold and knots were cold. He said "got it", he didn't offer an apology, just left and came back promptly with our check - including the wine I sent back and no apology for cold food and extremely long wait. The waitress came over and asked if we needed change and I said yes and told her about the cold food and everything. I thought she was going to talk to her manager about it and saw her take the check over to a lady I thought was the manager. She then got change from the bartender and brought it back to me. The manager never came over so I thought maybe I misunderstood. As we were walking out, we passed the waitress and I said "maybe I misunderstood, I thought your manager was going to come over or you were going to talk to her". She said "you weren't clear on if you wanted to speak to her or not. You seemed like you were just ready to leave". I said "well I thought if you told her the situation SHE would want to come and talk to us!". I left feeling so confused as to what had just happened! I've never eaten in a restaurant and received cold food I waited an extremely long time to get, and the manager NOT at least come over to apologize when they were made aware of the situation! I feel really bad for the waitress as I believe she was doing the best she could throughout dinner but then in the end it all fell apart. Hopefully management made it right with the servers because I feel like they all missed out on a lot of tips tonight due to poor management. The few bites of the warm food we tasted was good but we were very disappointed overall. Hopefully they get their mess together! *update after owner response* 1. More than one person in a party is allowed to leave their review of a restaurant. 2. A busy night is no excuse for poorly managed expectations on wait time. 3. Cold food is never ok and 4. clearly if we wanted a free meal we would have argued more about it instead of paying it and leaving. read more

We heard great things about this new restaurant here in Boone. After looking at the Menu online, and reading the 3 other reviews, we couldn't wait to try it. We arrived at 5:10pm. Not a great look outside, but we were there for the food. After a short wait we were seated. It was not too busy, but obvious they were a little short on staff. After waiting a while longer our server(Autumn) came and asked if we had been helped. We ordered drinks, and dinner at the same time, hoping to get things rolling a bit faster. After another longer wait, they brought my wife's wine to the table. To say it was a short pour is an understatement. I usually don't complain about things like this, but $8 for 3 ounces of house wine was a little much. I only said something after noticing other tables with much better pours. Enough said about the wine. After another long wait we asked if we could get our salads before the entries came out. The salads were served which were good. The portions were generous, and fresh. After another longer than usual wait, the entries were served. I had the Chicken Parmesan and my wife had a pizza. The chicken parm was good, not great, but good and made to order. The side pasta was ok. I had the meat sauce which lacked seasoning, but ok. The pizza was very good. The crust was delicious. We are now one hour and 30 plus minutes into dinner. We decided to try the gelato for desert. I hoped it wouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes to get it served and we could finish. After waiting much longer than anyone should have, I asked our server where our desert was and that 20 minutes was a little to long to expect anyone to wait for ice cream to be served. She made an excuse about being the only server, which wasn't exactly right. ( JB was waiting tables around us and doing it MUCH better) Twenty-two (22) minutes after ordering desert, we got the chocolate chip gelato. It was good, not quite as good as I thought it should be, but good. We never saw our server again. The hostess/manager, finally came over and brought our check. I told her the wait staff was lacking and undertrained. She explained there were two no shows for wait staff. I also watched a "beertender" and the hostess/manager do little to help the wait staff "get out of the weeds". While the food was good (4 stars ****) it is not a great value. Our bill was just short of $90 before a tip. 7:04pm we finally left. I will wait a while to return, to see if the service improves.( 1 star*) I really hope it does. One other thing I look for in service is a good attitude from all the staff. Our server gets 1 star*, the Hostess/manager (2 stars**) for at least trying to explain the poor service and thanking us for coming in. I will sit for 2-2.5 hours for fine dinning, but not for slow service with a poor attitude. read more

Located in the Walmart shopping center area and was excellent. We happened on it by accident and are glad we did. All the appetizers were excellent as were the pizzas and sandwiches. We will go back again soon. read more

I finally made it after work Friday for dinner with my mom. First, that dressing on the super fresh and crispy Ceasar salad was to die for. Best flavor dressing I've EVER had. Second, the Chicken Parm was out of this world! Perfection through every layer of flavor! Perfect amount of breading, cheese, sauce and chicken balance. I have NEVER had better. Garlic knots, well no comment would suffice the level of delicious there!! Amazing! Pasta was cooked to perfection and the sauce had the freshest flavor to it. It was a little watery for me but great flavor!! Yes, I'm eating my left overs right now and brought home a slice of Lemoncello cake, Lord I can't even!!! Just a slice of Heaven! Can't wait to work my way through the menu! Would like to see more wine options and carry some Booneshine brews (Trail Mojo and or Space Pegasus) I'm looking forward to see the atmosphere evolve, and eventually the fresh pasta! read more

This is not close to New York pizza, No flavor in the crust, or sauce. You should be able to bend the Slice and have the crust snap, you can bend it, but the crust was still soft and mushy. This is delivery quality pizza. read more

This was a great pre-race meal. We were in town for the BSG cycle race. We needed to carb load. I ordered the lasagna, friends ordered Piccata and Marsala. All three dishes were perfect. Portions were HUGE! Service was excellent. And the owner/chef came over to us to check in. I can't say enough about this place. read more

My sisters and I have ordered from this Bistro before. But the order this time was awful. We ordered 20 chicken wings with 2 sauces. The sauces were in cups and not on the wings. And the wings were quite small with parts of broken bones. Very disappointed with this order. We emailed the Bistro, before putting this review on Yelp, and never heard from them. read more

This was a horrible experience during this past Mother's Day. We waited a ridiculous amount of time to be seated and once seated we had to wait about 20 minutes just to be noticed and asked if we wanted drinks. After another 45-65 minutes finally our food came and it was cold and extremely underwhelming. We asked to talk to the owner and she was very rude to us! We will never go back to this place. I've eaten here twice and both times were extremely disappointed. First time I figured it was because they just open. Second time just as bad as the first. Five stars all the time! This was our second time dining here and we can couldn't have had a better experience. From the time we walked through the door, we were treated like royalty! Everyone there aims to please. We were promptly seated. Drinks were served immediately and that was soon followed by the most delicious salad in Watauga County. Fresh greens, cucumbers, red onion and Roma tomatoes , everything fresh and crisp. The pizza is the best. Yes, there are all kinds of pizza places n Boone and Blowing Rock, but none truly as delicious as their New York hand thrown. Prices are comparable, and the quality of every ingredient on the pizzas are beyond perfect, Friendly staff. Can't wait to go back again! Excellent service and food. The garlic knots were perfect. I had the special of salmon piccata and it was excellent! I had to change the pasta to vegetables. They did spinach, roasted cauliflower and mushrooms. It was an Excellent substitute. Don had the calzone and loved it. The gave us a slice of the lemoncello cake for my birthday! Also amazing! Three of us ate there last night . . we each had a chicken pasta dinner (marsala, parm, and piccata) . we each declared that our dinner was better than their dinner . . the salad (choice of house or Caesar) came in a large soup bowl and could have almost been a dinner salad (with lettuce other than iceberg) . the two garlic knots were right out of the oven . . but the best part was the dessert .. cannoli, cheesecake, and tiramisu which was probably the best I've ever had) . and the service was excellent . . definitely recommend read more

Four of us came from West Jefferson NC to check out this new Italian restaurant last night. The Food was excellent, portions VERY Big, Staff was Wonderful a bit hectic as not enough help which in these times understandable! Our ONLY COMPLAINT was the POUR Portion of Wine was EXTREMELY SMALL! For $8 a glass. Bob the Bartender tried to say it was the shape of the glass ! ‍ We will definitely return again but will NOT EVER ORDER WINE not worth the Price for what you get Unfortunately! read more

First time here. Had the Great White Buffalo pizza and it was incredible! Highly recommend you check this place out!

Upon arrival the hostess told us it was a 30-45 minute wait but since the bar looked open, we asked to sit there. Hostess said we could order drinks but not food. Okay fine whatever. We sat down and immediately the bar tender offered us food menus. We asked if that would be okay since hostess had different opinion, and of course bartender says "no problem". Great! We ordered drinks, garlic knots, and the Manhattan pizza. Amazing! While there noticed what appeared to be maybe the shift manager sitting in the corner looking like she would rather be ANYWHERE else, playing on her phone, and being a sounding board for the hostesses. Hostess seemed upset when 45 minutes later she texted to say our table was ready and we weren't responding. Little more communication with all the staff may have helped but not my problem. In the end the food was great, and so was the service Richie provided but the manager and hostess need improvements to keep people coming back. read more

Went for dinner and was quite pleased with the pasta dinners. The Caesar Salad was great. The food portions were enormous. We took home salad, a to to box full from the Chicken Marsala and a full box of the Linguine with White Clam Sauce. Our only complaint was the wine. We ordered a glass each of the Pinot Grigio and the pour was very small. 3 ounces each at best and that was from a bottle that would retail for $7.00. Their price: $30 for the bottle or $8 per glass! Damn! Loved the food but not accustomed to getting ripped off on the wine pour. Please! Would rate 4 stars except for the wine. read more
